Two puzzles bugged out on me (the [url=http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=831204717]flower clocks and the [url=http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=831205026]stone pillars). It's still possible to finish the game, since you can get past the puzzles using the skip button, but the fact that multiple reviewers mentioned this problem and it still hasn't been fixed a year after the game's release on Steam gets this an automatic thumbs down. Unfortunately the rest…

Well the flower puzzle is broken so I would give it 0 with potential for improvement if fixed so that it could be played.

Short version: 37% While The Book of Desires looks astonishing for its time, it is also a prime example on how good graphics alone cannot make an enjoyable video game—even in a casual genre like hidden object games. Long version: Beautiful but shallow: these are probably the two most prominent words I can use to describe The Book of Desires. While it is undeniable that its hand-drawn scenery looks gorgeous for an early 2012 hidden object game, it has almost no positive qualities beyond that.…

Like almost all the people who posted negative reviews, I ran into a broken puzzle, in my case the three figurines pedestals. But skipping it still worked, so I was able to finish the game. Pros: The train puzzle rocks. One of the best puzzles in hidden object games I have seen The hidden object scenes were exactly right, not too hard and not too easy Excellent hint system. The few times I got stuck, the hint system quickly guided me to the place where I had missed something…

This game reminds me of a Hidden object game that could be played on Pogo(dot)com back in the late 90s-early 2000s. One of the Free games, not one of the *slightly* better paid games. Music- not great, just a bit of repetitive "ominous" sounds and notes. Over all, the art was very dull, drab and muddy. Hidden object scenes were flat, muddy, and had "find the pixel you need to get that item" going on- clicking the same thing over and over until you find that one pixel is just annoying as....…

It was a lovely looking fairly short and simple HOG but the problem was that I also experienced a lot of bugs and lags. They didn't really bother me all that much but I know that paying for a broken game is not fun at all, so I don't really recommend this one. Plus it's way too short for the price it's asking. It's about an hour or two of gameplay. There were some really nice puzzles and the HO scenes stood out more between the two. Although, with the HOS there was a tendency to find the same…

This one is a shame, because I sometimes enjoy HOG's and this one was decent...up until one puzzle which was basically broken, and I could proceed no further. As a developer myself. little raises my ire as much as completely broken stuff (that would be obvious to spot during testing) that never gets fixed. A reluctant thumbs-down on this one.

I'M BEGINNING TO HAVE A DIFFERENT OUTLOOK ON GARBAGE GAMES OF THE PAST...HEAR ME OUT I just finished The Book of Desires; apparently, the book's desires only take about 2.5 hours to fulfill 🤣. If I had played this game when it was originally released, my review would have reflected an entirely different attitude. Oddly, I am finding a new love for these "past-their-prime" (if they even had a "prime" moment) junk HOPAs from an era when everyone wanted a piece of the HOPA pie and rushed to…

A sub-par HOG that sort of feels like it was cobbled together from a bunch of unrelated scenes left over from other projects. Overall quality is very inconsistent. The story is vague, barely present, and impossible to care about. Puzzle design seems rather lazy and some puzzles are basically repeated. Minigames are poorly explained. Glitches and graphical mishaps are common. Ends with a lame hook for a sequel that I sincerely hope will never come to fruition. The actual hidden object scenes…

A hidden object game of the average type. If you try to do puzzles in a different order than intended it will cause a bug. No achievements or trading cards and not entertaining enough for the full price.

Yikes. The dialogue isn't even edited! The game feels clumsy, and there are enough other HOGs out there that I don't feel the need to complete this one.

The Book of Desires is a hidden object puzzle game with a horror theme, similar in many ways to the Artifex Mundi mobile apps of the same genre. There's a horror backdrop to the story, but really this is all just the same kind of mobile app screen tapping puzzle solving and object finding you'd expect from an iPhone game. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of…

Despite the high percentage of negative reviews for the game, The Book of Desires is a totally fine hidden object game. Right off the bat, it's totally playable. Yes, there are two bugged puzzles (one of which is actually still solvable, it's just irritating to do so), but with the use of the skip puzzle feature it won't end your play through or anything. Moving on from that though, this game definitely carries with it the low budget feel of the other games in it's genre. It's story is, just,…

This game is very buggy. On one puzzle, you have to use an item from your inventory. However, as soon as I did, the item disappeared into thin air, leaving me unable to solve the puzzle. I had no other choice but to use the skip option to continue playing. Others have reported this as well. The puzzles are very easy, the game as a whole is not very challenging. As far as the story goes, it's very shallow. And if it wasn't for the game continuously telling you that you play as a little girl, you…

A weird mix of Dali and Alice in Wonderland are the main ingredients for this bedtime story. Good story and puzzles and many hidden object scenes that are almost monochrome, wich makes it a bit more difficult than usual. Worth checking out if you like something different in the genre.

Other negative reviews are fairly accurate. Game is short. Story is disjointed and hard to follow. Text is poorly edited (though that's practically a feature of the genre, right?). Puzzles are, for the most part, almost boringly easy., but I still had to skip a few because they bugged out. HO scenes are nice but it feels like you're finding the same objects over and over. Overall, I don't regret playing it: it was an adequately fun way to spend a few hours (notably longer play time cause I…

Game wasn't terrible and visually not bad but the story itself was boring to me. I had no trouble with the clock puzzle but the statues disappeared when placed on the columns. I don't recommend because the game feels rushed and incomplete. I'm still disappointed in the ending.

As someone mentioned, some of the puzzle doesn't work. I had the issue with the Statues, but using the skipping button I was able to progress in the game. The game was ok, but I guess easy to forget. The hidden objects were just hidden well enough that you can't just click around and hope to hit them. The story was interesting, but very short. I liked the puzzle about the stars the most. Overall not a bad game (excluding the technical issue), but not the best I have played.

The Book of Desires is a decent hidden-object adventure with a dark fairy-tale atmosphere. I enjoyed the mysterious story and exploring the strange locations while trying to uncover the secrets behind the book. The story is intriguing, although it can become confusing, and some of the puzzles feel either too easy or unnecessarily unclear. There is also some backtracking that slows the pace down. I'd recommend it mainly to players who enjoy older-style hidden-object adventures. Enjoy :)

The Book of Desires, developed by Meridian’93 and published by Fulqrum Publishing, is a hidden-object puzzle adventure that embraces the traditions of classic casual mystery games while attempting to tell a darker, more surreal story. The game follows a young woman named Ashley who awakens from a troubling dream only to find that her world has shifted into something far more unsettling than she could have imagined. What begins as a vague sense of unease gradually unfolds into a mystery…

Played this years ago and was going through my owned games and decided to replay it. Plot summary (like it matters) - child given an opportunity making a wish, makes a nice one, and ends up in an adventure. Might have had one bug with stones disappearing in a mini-game and not being able to complete it and ended up skipping it. Some of the hidden object parts were actually rather clever - but there were occasional non-standard names. On the whole an OK HOG.

I found the story to be rather lacking, the art a bit murky (at times it was hard to distingush the items that needed to be found) and I had some bugs here and there (the pillars puzzle i had to skip completely because of it). I would have liked a voiceover for the naration and perhaps even the dialogues but that's just a personal preference. The game is not the worst but I think there could have been more depth to the character, more twists, even at the end when you have to make a choice,…

This is definitely a mixed review. The game has some translation errors. One of the puzzles has to be skipped (the stone pieces to solve it just disappear). It seems to not be uncommon according to a discussion post. There are no achievements, so maybe that doesn't really matter, and you can continue w the rest of the game no problem. There's no fast travel. It's an ok time waster, and the game is less than $1.50 on sale. So if you like this genre, it's not a bad value.

This game is a fairly subpar point and click adventure and an even worse hidden object puzzle game. Part of this is probably due to translation issues ( English doesn't appear to be the first language of the writer), but this doesn't excuse the bad story and uninteresting puzzles. If you are looking for a game in this Genre you are much better served playing something like The Room.
