Question 1

What is Rotten Tweets?

Accepted Answer

Rotten Tweets collects public audience reactions to movies, TV shows and video games from Bluesky, Mastodon, Lemmy and Steam reviews, labels each one positive, negative or neutral, and shows the share that is positive. Every reaction links to the original post.

Question 2

How is the score calculated?

Accepted Answer

Score = positive reactions / (positive + negative) x 100. Neutral posts are listed but never move the score. Steam reviews use the reviewer's own thumbs up/down; other posts are labelled by an AI model, and a source only counts toward scores after 100 of its labels were hand-checked at 85% accuracy or better. There is no score below 10 opinionated reactions.

Question 3

How often are scores updated?

Accepted Answer

Sources are checked roughly daily per title (Lemmy every two days); scores are recomputed hourly and every page shows when it was last updated.

Question 4

Where does the data come from?

Accepted Answer

Public posts from Bluesky (open API), Mastodon public hashtag timelines, Lemmy search and Steam user reviews, plus Wikipedia's reception sections as separately labelled critic context. Titles' metadata comes from Wikidata and Wikipedia. We no longer collect posts from X.
