Rotten Tweets (“we”, “our”, “the site”) is a movie and TV show sentiment aggregation service available at rottentweets.com. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

Analytics Data: We use Google Analytics (GA4) to collect anonymous usage data including pages visited, time on site, device type, browser, and approximate geographic location. This data is aggregated and cannot identify you personally.

No Account Data: We do not require user accounts, collect email addresses, or store any personal information. There are no login forms, sign-up flows, or cookies beyond what Google Analytics sets.

Public reactions: We collect publicly available posts that discuss movies, TV shows and games from Bluesky, Mastodon and Lemmy, and public user reviews from Steam. We store the post text, the public handle (for Steam, only an anonymised reviewer id — not the persona name), the post date, a link to the original and our sentiment label. We do not collect private posts, messages or any non-public information.

Steam data: This site stores and displays data obtained through Steam's public review feed (review text, thumbs up/down, playtime at review, Steam's aggregate rating) under the Steam Web API Terms of Use. Steam is a trademark of Valve Corporation; Rotten Tweets is not affiliated with Valve.

Archived X posts: Posts collected from X (Twitter) in March–April 2026 are kept in an archive, are not displayed and are not used in scores. Collection from X has stopped.

Analytics data is used solely to understand site usage patterns and improve the service. Reaction data is used to calculate audience scores and to show the reactions, with links, on title pages. We do not sell, share, or transfer any data to third parties beyond Google Analytics.

The only cookies set on this site are by Google Analytics for anonymous traffic measurement. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or any third-party marketing tools.

• Wikidata / Wikipedia / Wikimedia Commons — fallback metadata, critic context and freely licensed images (no user data shared)

• OMDb API — critic ratings aggregation (no user data shared)

Reaction data is retained to maintain scores; a post deleted at the source is removed on request or when we next find it gone. Google Analytics data is retained per Google's standard retention policies (14 months).

If you wrote a post or review we show and want it removed, contact us with its link and we will remove it. Under GDPR and CCPA, you have the right to request information about data we hold and to request its deletion.
