The core gameplay loop of maneuvering planes and managing pilot skills is engaging for a while, but the age of the game is starting to show. Some of the combat interactions and RNG elements don't always make sense, leading to moments of frustration that break the flow. While it’s not a bad game by any means, it is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overview: Sid Meier's Ace Patrol is essentially a table top, turn based, WW-I fighter game that's quite similar to old board games such as Avalon Hill's "Richthofen's War," GDW's "Blue Max," or Milton Bradley's "Dog Fight!." The game is designed for the casual user and can only be played in a campaign mode as the Brits, French, German or US - so there are no single or randomly generated battles, nor is there an editor. The player controls a small group of four aircraft. Pilots in this group…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game constantly crashes after second mission, which makes it unplayable. Definitely would not recommend.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game consistently crashed after 2nd mission and did not save. Common problem apparently. Refund pending. Buyer beware
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Keeps crashing after completion of the second sortie. Uninstalled.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Crashes EVERY time after mission two.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Crashes every time I finish the second mission.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game will not open and unable to get any help or a refund for the game

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Anti-Russian company that doesn't mind selling to evil countries like Israel and the USA, despite all of their constant war-mongering and genocide.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game keeps crashing after shooting down the first actual enemy plane... not good, would be fun if I could get further.. Having got past that first crash point I can continue if I save after every mission, it is still very irritating to have to keep redoing missions. Other than that no bad for a game I paid less than $3 for.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This works for a couple of missions on my windows ten but then exits the game completely, shame but there it is.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I lost all my progress because the game decides to crash after a victory. I lost so much progress, and now i feel like i wasted my time playing this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It used to be a fun little game but I can't recommend it to anyone now. It crashes during every mission which makes it unplayable. Have tried changing settings for emulation modes but no luck. Shame too as it was a fun little time waster for when you had a few minutes here and there.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →dang, i feel like theres a good turn based combat system hidden here, you control WW1 planes, and you have to move your units constantly since they cannot remain stationary, they use altitude as a resource to perform maneuvers, all that sounds good, and when all the pieces connect, it can feel like turn based dogfighting, but i feel the game makes a poor job at explaining its mechanics, i CONSTANTLY i find myself in situations where i say "why cant i make that turn?" or "why do i HAVE to move 2…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sid Meier's Ace Patrol is a turn-based strategy game set in World War I. Developed by Firaxis Games, the game was released in 2013 and quickly gained popularity among strategy game enthusiasts. The game has a unique blend of historical accuracy, engaging gameplay, and a beautiful art style that immerses players in the thrilling world of aerial combat. One of the most striking aspects of Ace Patrol is its attention to detail. The game accurately portrays the planes, weapons, and tactics used in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →We want a new one gosh darn it Sid, please. I know its not the most popular but come on
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is interesting at first, but it wears out its welcome very quickly. The gameplay is very simple: you click where you want your planes to go and they go there, if there's an enemy within range, they shoot at them. As you wrack up kills, you get to choose one of a random set of three maneuvers so that your pilot has more movement options. It's a workable system, but there just isn't much depth to it. Most of the maneuvers you learn do very little to change your tactics, only the ones…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do not buy this game. It is a charming turn-based strategy game of world war one aircraft but, although it used to work, a few years ago, I have been unable to get it to work for the last two years. When you run the game it opens a window which then immediately closes. I have tried various 'solutions' from the web - none of which have worked. So, forget this game and buy something else.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A cheap game with some fun strategy elements that make it a decent bargain if low priced. The reason I don't recommend this game is because there is a 10-20% chance the game will crash immediately after completing a mission. Doesn't sound like a big deal, but if trying to complete on the highest difficulty then 1 mission can take upwards of 30 minutes.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game, and Pacific Aces also, no longer work. Stopped working a long time ago. Deleted and re-installed several times, no effect. Damn shame, the WW1 one was fun actually, WW2 not as much. No problem now, though, can't play either!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Milton Bradley, 1963, Dogfight, loved it (and the movie "The Blue Max"), this is fantastic, I'm having a blast, THANK YOU from an old man gamer with no sense of strategy but a great sense of fun and adventure!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got Sid Meier's Ace Patrol: Pacific Skies. How the game looks vs how it feels to play
unlabelledView post →If you have $15 and haven't yet played the Civilization games, this bundle of III-IV is a pretty great value! Bonus: Also includes Sid Meier's Pirates!, Sid Meier's Starships, Sid Meier's Railroads! and Sid Meier's Ace Patrol (both parts). And SMC Beyond Earth, which is... not the best. Ah well.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sid Meier's Ace Patrol is a compact yet thoughtfully designed turn-based strategy game developed by Firaxis Games and published by 2K that offers a distinctive take on World War I aerial combat. Rather than attempting to simulate flight through real-time controls or complex physics, the game reimagines dogfighting as a tactical board game played across a hex-based battlefield. This design choice immediately sets it apart from traditional flight games, framing air combat as a contest of…

Sid Meier's Ace Patrol (2013) While this is a below-average Sid Meier game, it's still a fun one that was clearly built for mobile and then ported to Windows. You control WWI biplanes and battle enemy aces in a turn-based strategy aerial wargame.
unlabelledView post →A good sit-back yet seat-of-the-pants game. Just a fun campaign to run through. I wish there there was just a random dogfight setup but otherwise, lots of flying about.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Qualified Yes. The game itself is very fun to play. The problem is instability; I'd say about 1 out of every 5-7 missions I have to replay because the game crashes AFTER I achieve the victory, but BEFORE I can save it. It's very frustrating, especially after completing a difficult scenario with little damage only to have to do it all over again. It won't ever get fixed, I don't think, and that's a shame.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A turn based plane battling game. Actually pretty fun. Too bad it's stuck with low resolution.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Simple but interesting turn based aerial combat on hexes, feels like playing a board game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun light strategy game that opens up a lot more once you unlock new maneuvers for your pilots. The four factions you can play in campaign add replay value, as their resepective aircraft are just dissimilar enough in performance to change up the gameplay. Be sure to turn off Steam Overlay while playing, and if you are on Win10, find the AcePatrol executable and set it to run in Win8 compatibility mode. This fixed some crashing issues (not that kind) that I was having. Verdict - Nine…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Boring after an hour or two. There's enough in Ace Patrol to mildly amuse for a while, but then it just gets repetitive. There just isn't much depth to it. I understand that Ace Patrol was primarily a mobile game, back when mobile games were low-effort affairs. That being the case, it's an achievement considering the competition at the time. But it's still a bad game. Ace Patrol is a turn-based aerial combat game, which sounds more exciting than it is. You auto-attack when close to the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is very like several air combat board games I played back in the 1970s, and also similar to the "Ace of Aces" book-based game. I am having a lot of fun with it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun idea in principal, but there's lack of any real depth to the game to keep interesting. There are a handful of mission type but they largely boil down to dogfight, escort, bomb and defend (stop an escort/bomb mission). The planes don't differ much either visually or in ability, pilots at least can be upgraded to have different strengths but even then you really have to pick the moves that enable quickest turning as it's a massive advantage. There are some strange quirks that seem to be…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game keeps crashing like the Nazi plane in the 2nd mission... FUN!! I highly recommend this game 5 Nazi crashed planes out of 5
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →just an ordinary cheap game.. for cards only
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun maneuvering in WW1 planes that have different characteristics. Nice variety of missions. Can play any of four nationalities.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There really is a lot of potential with Sid Meier's Ace Patrol. It has a lot working for it, but it also has a lot working against it, which unfortunately out way the pros. For the Pros: - The game mechanics and core gameplay are pretty solid, no real complaints there. - Aircraft movement is all straight-forward and each manoeuvre is fun to use as they all have their special use. - Each Aircraft have their own special characteristics (which they did have historically) which makes them…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played this game for over 30 hours and I keep coming back to it - there's something about this simple little game which is so enjoyable.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm pretty sure this is a terrible mobile game ported to PC. The game is boring, and really easy. I'm pretty sure Sid Meier didn't design this, it just uses his name. If he did make this... yeesh. The game is dull.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game doesn't work anymore. Steam Servers just doen't respond to it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cheap and fun time-waster. Reminds me of an old board war game called Dawn Patrol. As long as you don't mind the cartoonish feel that this and many other Sid Meier games tend to have, you are likely to enjoy the tactical play. When I first downloaded, I had the crash bug people have reported, but that was easily fixed running it in compatibility mode.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game it is my favorite. Simple, strategic, as hard as I want it to be.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game keeps crashing, not recommended until fixed
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →♥♥♥♥ 2K. They don't care about customers they only care about Epic Game Store cash handouts.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was enjoying this game until it started crashing after playing literally any mission consistently, probably would be a 8/10 but with the crashing issue it goes down to 4/10, its almost unplayable if you want to keep save data.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played the game here for 40 minutes and I crash after every other mission. I played the game on Mobile years ago and it was very fun so I picked it up on sale here but it seems it was a waste of money. Shame
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This could've been into the breach if it wasn't so repetitive. Good game for casual
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Old game that I still come back to and play. I recommend it.
