The mechanics are solid, and the way the game progresses up to a certain point is smile inducing. Then for some reason this turns into the star wars prequels, just a major let down from early expectations. So a little lingo that I use for this real quick; the game is broken down into 4 campaigns: US Army, US Navy, Japan Army, Japan Navy. Each campaign has a number of mission arcs that…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played SMAP initially on iOS a couple of years ago, so when I saw both SMAP games on Steam I jumped at them. These are turn-based dogfighting/fighter mission games. Think of them as a lite version of the Wings of War boardgame. These days, IMHO Sid will put his name on anything, so it is good to read the reviews and watch the previews to see if it is something you like. For me, it was. I think I got this game for less than USD$3 and it is worth it for that price, as you will be…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is a bug ingame that wont allow you to save - if you have special letters in your Windows username (e.g. non-english letters). Only 'support' game creators provided is advice to "change the Windows username". Well... NO. How about you fix it!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh I wish I could recommend this game. I love the idea of it. But it is too unstable. Crashes repeatedly.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the Ace Patrol version set in WW1. It's a fun little quick game. This one isn't as fun. I think it's because the dogfights in this one don't last as long. It was okay, I guess, but there's only up and down and if I had to choose to buy it again, I wouldn't.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game used to run great (as of the last time that I played it, approximately a year ago). Now, it crashes after every other mission, if not sooner.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'll cut straight to the point: In the end I hated this game. I only finished it for the achievements sake, but I was super annoyed at the end. Here's my pros and cons: PROS: + nice pacific setup + new planes + new maneuvers (given the technological advances since WW1) CONS: - every campaign is exactly the same - planes don't heal between missions, but only after battles (of 4 missions) - no matter which faction you play: the other side is SUPER overpowered (have more HP and armor whilst at…

unlabelledView post →compared to Ace Patrol, Pacific Skies really leaves a lot to be desired, there's more bugs and if anything less features. Also it seems in Pacific Skies damage is linked to the difficulty whereas in Ace Patrol it isn't. this manifests in pacific skies as downing planes in a single attack vs having to make a few passes in Ace Patrol. (this may be a reflection of the technological advancement between ww1 and ww2 however for gameplay purposes it's a miss)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Run it in Win XP SP3 MODE and Admin lunch as default. It works fine
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is okay, combat isn't really explained but does model energy fighting pretty well. It gets pretty repetitive soon but worth it on sale. Shame there is no mod or a Europe theatre version, would love to see a modernised version.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sid put down the game dev team and STOP. You've done to much.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Anti-Russian company that doesn't mind selling to evil countries like Israel and the USA, despite all of their constant war-mongering and genocide.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fast game that's simple to learn, but with enough variations to keep it interesting. More like a board game than a flight sim, so perfect for people who like to take their time making decisions.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is my second review of a game on Steam for many years. Was a bit weary of this game. Too cheap to be any good. I was wrong. If you like turn-based games like x-com, this one is a treat for the money. Very pleasant gameplay. Mission replay is genius! Graphics are well above sufficient for this type of game. All and all - EXTREMELY SATISFIED! Thank you!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game still makes aerial dogfights boring and tedious. It’s the exact same game as Ace Patrol, very lazy.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A Beautiful And Ideal Game To Spend Time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun, casual strategy game. Not very complex, but good for a few hours of fun. It is a bit less forgiving then its predecessor and you will find yourself getting beaten by the AI if you try to play it the same way as you did the WW1 version. Pick it up on sale and you won't be disappointed.

unlabelledView post →If you have $15 and haven't yet played the Civilization games, this bundle of III-IV is a pretty great value! Bonus: Also includes Sid Meier's Pirates!, Sid Meier's Starships, Sid Meier's Railroads! and Sid Meier's Ace Patrol (both parts). And SMC Beyond Earth, which is... not the best. Ah well.
unlabelledView post →Sid Meier's Ace Patrol: Pacific Skies is a turn-based strategy game that reimagines World War II aerial combat through the lens of tactical decision-making rather than real-time simulation. Developed by Firaxis Games and published by 2K, the title shifts the focus of the original Ace Patrol from World War I dogfights to the vast and historically significant Pacific Theater. Instead of emphasizing reflexes or flight-stick mastery, the game distills air combat into a clean, hex-based system where…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →10 GOOD LESSER-KNOWN GAMES FROM 2K GAMES 7. Sid Meier's Ace Patrol (2013) While this is a below-average Sid Meier game, it's still a fun one that was clearly built for mobile and then ported to Windows. You control WWI biplanes and battle enemy aces in a turn-based strategy aerial wargame.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros - Lots of fun missions with scores for replayability - touchscreen support and touchpad on Steam Deck works great although the icons on the screen are just a little too small - cloud support - great music - Can play as the Japanese or Americans with real/realistic missions based on WWII - The pilots have voice acting - You can choose to have males or both genders which is a nice touch - injuries carry on to the next mission - Even if you fail the mission you continue to the next because…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Playable by running the .exe in Win 7 compability mode. It is a little bit better than the first game. My rating 5,5/10, neutral to slight recommendation.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game, so many crashes
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →well worth the price for hours of mindless fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love the idea of the game, and I enjoy playing it... but it crashes all the time. When I say all the time, I mean almost every mission. I used to play it on a lenovo laptop back in 2014 or 2015 and it worked pretty well, then suddenly started crashing. I got a newer laptop and it still crashed all the time. Now I'm on an Alienware Aurora R11 with a 10th gen i9, a 2080ti, and 32 GB ram, and I just downloaded it maybe 40 minutes ago to see if I could finally play it again. It still crashes…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game doesn't work anymore. Steam Servers just doen't respond to it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Read reviews and saw several mentioning constant crashes, but I decided to try it anyway since it was 75% off and less than $2.00 for the bundle of Ace Patrol and Pacific Skies. Played for about 1.5 hours total of both games, then requested a refund because it kept crashing. My gameplay experience was essentially this: Launched the game, played through the tutorials. Played first mission, crashed at end of level. Relaunched game, loaded save, played mission, crashed at end. Relaunched game,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a pretty good game, for a $5.00 game. Some of the animations when the planes maneuver clearly weren't finished or half heatedly put together. Other then that it's a very fun casual game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A mediocre port of a mediocre mobile game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've only played this game for 27 minutes because it constantly crashes. I've checked the forums and this is a common problem with no patch or resolution. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME! It is a broken piece of trash. I've asked Steam for a Refund. We will see how that goes. 0/10 stars. EDIT, UPDATE: Steam has decided to give me a refund (pending) for this broken game. Thank you Steam for doing the right thing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to like this game. It looked interesting, so I got it, but now it turns out as an big mistake. The first level was running smoothly and without any problems, but from then on it is a disaster. The images doesn't show up correctly, the objects (airplanes, ships) are completely black and it gets stuck. After a mission it freezes either for a moment before the menu appears or it freezes completly and I have to restart the game. Then it says the driver of my graphic-card isn't up to date,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Too bad ... my first thoughts of this game was it would be a fun turn based strategy one. It is, but it falls short in the graphics department, lack of intuitive information and ability to configure the screen resolution or a true "full screen" display. Shameful for a Si Meier's game having such 1990's graphics ... especially after being spoiled by a lot of his other name bearing software titles ... but his Name sell's software ... proof in the fact I now own the "Ace Patrol" bundle. But…

unlabelledView post →A turn based plane battling game. Actually pretty fun. Too bad it's stuck with low resolution...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The sequel to Ace Patrol takes us to the Pacific, swapping the elegant biplanes of WWI for the faster, deadlier fighters of WWII. The problem? It’s basically the same game with a new backdrop and slightly beefier planes. The gameplay is still fun for a few hours, but after a while, déjà vu kicks in—“wait, haven’t I done this mission ten times already?” Combat still relies on that mystical damage system where one shot barely scratches the paint, and the next one sends a plane into oblivion.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Always crashes to desk top after you finish a mission which is really annoying
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Easy to learn and difficult to master. A classic Sid Meier math structure but with a little more luck maybe than usual. Overall fun, I play through it about once a year.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game does not launch.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unstable as hell. Crashes in a matter of minutes, consistently. Community-suggested fixes not one-size-fits-all. Otherwise not a major iteration on the original game, and thus hard to recommend.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Funny little game for when you have a break. Having fun with it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of those games that seem to divide people. The original Ace Patrol was an excellent game with a mobile phone game feel to it but this is just a bit more polished and strangely not quite as much fun to play, that said it's not a bad game by any means. Question Time Do you like games that repeatedly crash for no reason? Do you like to play games that put historical accuracy to one side and act like only the Japanese and American fought in the Pacific? Do you like turn based games? Do…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Time in game: 47 minutes Nr. of restarts due to crashes: about 10 Fun game and a blast from the past, but can't recommend due to the number of crashes (roughly after each mission or two).
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Seems nice but it is impossible to play: it crash every few minutes (windows10)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the videos and screen shots promoting the game made me think this was a fun action/arcade style flight game and that the strategic map was a minor secondary part of the game. Not so, there is ZERO action in this game it is all hex turn based stuff, not what I was after in an aerial war game. Very misleading adverts. As I took a while before i got around to playing it I missed out on the money back guarantee, atleast it was only a couple of quid.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sied Meier's Ace Patrol: Pacific Skies is a mobile app that's been dumped on Steam as a lazy cash grab, by a once-great-but-now-not-so-more development house that should know better. It's a turn based tactical game on a hex map where you control WW2 planes in the Pacific conflict. From the strategic view, between rounds, you can upgrade your pilots and planes before the next mission. In the mission you have set objectives (destroying bombers, etc). The tactical moves are pretty similar to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would love to give this game a positive review but its broken. It crashes all the time because its not compatible with windows 10; I am aware you can fix this issue easily. The problem is you shouldn't have to. The developer and steam should make sure that a game is compatible with the current software on PCs. The consumer should not have to worry about fixing something that should not already be broken. My hope is that with some negative reviews the developer or steam will take notice and…
