It's a bit like a god sim and I mean that in the best of possible ways. You're a king but you got to get your people to go along with your vision for a superb kingdom by demonstrating that you rule by ruling really radical and rationing rewards in a just and efficient manner. Nice classic game for RTS fans that also enjoy their sim cities and civilizations along the way. Heck if you prove yourself good enough they just might make it Majestic 13.

I played the first game as a kid so I had fond memories of the majesty series. But this was a major let down. Found the original majesty disk and tried it out. Was blown away with how much better the game was. Now that I know I was not imagining it I can say a few reasons why the squeal falls short. AI was rubbish in the old game. But in a good way characters did whatever they felt like. monsters occasionally wandered into town or appeared and all was good. AI in the new game is much more…

Total opposition to changing the contract without the players being able to refuse. I do not agree with your new conditions. I do not agree with the obligation to constantly check what you have changed in the contract. and it's completely crazy that I have to keep checking, and it's my duty to keep track of what you've changed in the contract, otherwise I automatically agree to it. I think the hours speak for themselves. While it was challenging at times. The gameplay was quite unique in that you don't directly control any units, you are a basically a quest-giver to NPCs. Never played any other game like it. Buy it

Base game is decent (gets a lot of things wrong that Majesty 1 got right). Unique gameplay of Majesty brought forward. Negative review because the final DLC (Monster Kingdom) is a broken mess. I had to save nearly 100 times in 3 hours to complete the last mission (actually just get through the DLC). I had probably close to 50 crashes in 3 hours: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPNbcnHZk4Y Shame on Paradox for leaving it broken like that. Also the 2nd last mission in Monster Kingdom is…

Unfortunately this is another victim of using authentication servers that constantly verify you properly paid to play. While there is a community fix that helps get the DLC working, a recent update broke it and now requires even more tinkering to get to work. Spend your money elsewhere, don't pay for a broken product.

I have always had a soft spot for the original Majesty. It's a game I have played a fair bit and remember with great fondness. It is perhaps surprising then that I had never tried the Paradox-published sequel Majesty 2. It probably has to do with when it came out, a phase when I simply was not into video games all that much. But having realised that I had it in my library after taking Majesty Gold out of the attic for another spin, I thought, hey, why not? As it turns out, there were a few good…

Fun game, wish we had more games like this. I recommend this game. However keep in mind this game as an issue with FPS/Refresh Rate which can be fixed, Google search "PSA: Game-breaking building speed bug; build speed tied to in-game FPS, more fps = longer build times".

The Majesty series offers an unique take on the fantasy RTS game style, where you can only control your heroes indirectly by offering gold rewards for attacking/defending/exploring specific targets. This second title provides several improvements. The "defend" flag is greately appreciated. The four standard heroes guilds now have 3 levels of upgrade with several extra skills for your heroes adding a bit more of depth. They also allow you to carry selected heroes over to next campaings. They…

Great if you like a challenging strategy game. But make sure to set your fps limit to 30 because the construction speed is inversely tied to your fps. So at 120+ fps it becomes really hard.

Pros: Unique indirect control mechanic Decent orchestral soundtrack Cons: Dumb AI Poor balancing Repetitive mission design Clunky UI with no hotkey rebinding Barebones story Boring character design Gameplay/Balance: You can't directly control units in Majesty 2. If you feel that this game's difficulty is broken, if you played it some years ago on an older PC, and now you've upgraded and you feel like you can't even beat the Rat King mission - this one is for you. This game has an fps glitch. The higher is the fps on your PC's driver, the harder the game gets. Enemies spawn faster, and for some reason you build very slow. If you have an NVIDIA Control Panel or an AMD analogue, go there and manually lower the fps specificaly for this game. For me - it…

I consider myself a seasoned strategy gamer, but Majesty 2 is in a league of its own when it comes to pure, unadulterated frustration. This isn't a game; it's a digital torture simulator disguised with a fantasy theme. The primary and catastrophic flaw is the ludicrous, soul-crushing difficulty. The game is not "challenging"; it is fundamentally broken and unfair. From the first non-easy level mission, you are thrown into a meat grinder. The enemy spawns are relentless and overwhelming. The…

Unplayable unless you mess around with your refresh rate. Try to play if raw and you will end up with enemies spawning so quickly as to make it unplayable. Neat concept. Wanted to play since I was a kid and enjoyed the couple of missions that actually work. But once that over spawn hits, the fun is gone. And it just isn't worth all the trouble of the work around. Barely works and completely abandoned. Wouldn't waste my money or time. Shame really. It's actually a uniquely entertaining concept.

I Love this old game. It's unique and really challenging. *But make sure you lock your framerate to 60 on this old game. Difficulty is somehow tied to the framerate. The faster your game runs, the faster the enemy will spawn and the slower the buildings will build.

Beware: you will have to lower FPS to render the game winnable (difficulty being tied to FPS; even at 30 FPS some scenarios may prove to be too hard). This is a great game, genre defining. Indirect control RTS: build buildings that spawn and equip heroes, set exploration/conquest/defence goals, watch your heroes grow stronger as they try to win the battle. Infused with humour. A game I've come back to throughout the years.

Fundamentally, the main problem with Majesty 2's gameplay is that it's a regression in comparison to the first Majesty. Whereas Majesty is a Fantasy Kingdom Sim with heroes that perform unique actions and adventure autonomously, Majesty 2 features heroes that shuffle about like zombies until they are given a specific order via an attack bounty. This creates a whole different feel for the game, as Majesty 2 is just an RTS with poor controls, rather than the sim Majesty 1 is. On top of this, the…

A great game. Two things. 1) It is necessary to reduce your screen's refresh rate, as low as possible, when playing this game. 2) The game crashes more than it should. If you're willing to live with those two things, this is a very fun game. There should be more games like this.

I get so much satisfaction watching my heroes get stronger, party up and fight of hordes of enemies alongside dwarven towers. I also like that the game is very hard. Still a great game, maybe slightly inferior to the original, but better graphics and overall smoother. Play the original first, though, then get more here. This is an indirect control game: heroes have minds of their own, you can place rewards for attacking, defending or scouting targets, but they will do what they will (including run.) For whatever reason this makes it very fun, and it feels like you're a king in a sort of D&D kingdom where heroes are the truly powerful forces and you can't…

It's a good game, but you pretty much are forced to search online for the DLC fix mod/patch and the Balance mod/patch made by the community to make it work properly, otherwise the game is much harder than the original release and literally unplayable in some missions. This is due to a bug they fixed, but did not realise that the entire game was balanced around said bug, so pretty much balance of all missions was completely ruined without the mods.

Normally I am not one to complain when a game is too hard but some of the missions are close to impossible. There are some missions where you can place a structure (guild or guard tower, it doesn't matter) the instant the game starts and you don't even make it 1/2 of the way through construction before you get swarmed and the structure is destroyed. This is supposed to be a RTS, right? There is no strategy in that. When you have to reload and hope that your castle gets attacked (higher HP) so…

Only 1 mission mode included in all missions... Doing the same thing over and over again... with an increasingly annoying storyteller. The old “Settlers” were more interesting, although there was always the same thing to do. Without new game modes, DLCs are absolutely worthless... Maybe MP was probably the best here.

"Majesty 2" is not as good as the first one (sequel is made by different people from different studio) but nevertheless it is decent and sweet indirect control strategy game. Difficulty in some missions is harsh and game design pushes you to use one predefined tactic to win. It can lead to some restarts if you can't understand fast enough how designer meant this mission to be beaten. But the first game was just the same so you can call this "being faithfull to original".
