Majesty Gold HD
Developer Cyberlore
Majesty: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim is a real-time strategy (RTS) video game developed by Cyberlore Studios, and published by Hasbro Interactive under the MicroProse brand name for Windows in March 2000. It removes a central feature of the RTS genre, direct control over units. The game is not a simulator. That part of the title is a reference to Majesty's central joke: affectionate parodying of fantasy role-playing… From Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0)

I mourn for these little islands of ingenious game design that get left behind in the endless forward march of popular video game culture. There's nothing like it. If you're into esoteric game design, or a bit of PC historian, you would be remiss to not experience this.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So I've been playing this game since I was little. It's a lot of fun if you enjoy strategy games. And I've never found anything quite like it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ah Majesty. For those that don't know this nifty little title, it's a game that came out nearly a quarter of a century ago, back when the Real-Time Strategy genre was king. Majesty offered an alternate take. Not quite an RTS, as the player was never given proper control of the troops. The player is a king of some lovingly satirical version of a fantasy kingdom, responsible for building up his town and inviting heroes to come and inhabit it, with the promise of adventure and, of course, pay. The…

It's WAY more optimized, has full wide screen support, no Steam DRM, and is much more stable. Majesty is one of the most unique games I've ever played. Nothing else scratches the itch like it. Highly recommend for people who love fantasy, sims/strategy games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A forgotten masterpiece . Overall in 17 hours I have finished the game twice (not including the expansion) Because there is no video to show game play in the steam page I will try to explain it with words. In majesty you will control the following aspects of your kingdom: 1) construction of buildings (markets , blacksmith , guilds etc) 2) you will pay for the training of different heroes .(wizards , necromancers, healers , barbarians etc.) 3) you will upgrade buildings so they will provide…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →10/10 My review might show that I only have 7 or 8 hrs of experience with this game but I have sunk hundreds of hours into this game over the years with different versions since it launched. Before it released on Steam. I still can't find a replacement for this game and keep coming back to play again after all these years. I totally recommend it. *** You get two different versions of the game with this purchase. The original and the HD. The HD version has workshop content and better…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best games ever made.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finished the full campaign in 29 hours (time on steam is wrong because I played Majesty Gold HD but this game tracks time from the original game.) This 25 year old indie RTS has definitely aged alright. Very fun. On Linux at 1440p+ I would recommend this setting (replace 1440 with your monitor resolution) so that ui elements are not tiny: gamescope -h 1080 -H 1440 -F fsr -f -- %command%
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't mind played time counter. For some reason I can publish HD review only from basic version of the game. While I have 88 hours in HD release and countless hours with my old disk version. AAA quality RTS with indirect control that was made in a golden age of isometry. A true winrar masterpiece that still stands the test of time. Majesty the Fantasy Kingdom Sim is a game about kingdom of heroes going on an adventure. Like in other games with indirect control you rule your kingdom while…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been playing this game since I was about 9. I still love it over 20 years later.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's ok, but not great. It's fun to not be able to control every single thing and let the people go around and things as they see fit. The years have not been kind on this game. Hopefully we will see a remaster or remake in the future.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of my favorite go back to games. Replay at least once a year for 15 years.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"My power grows!"- My level 1 wizard who I just spent 500 gold on after he levels up, only to immediately get killed by anything with a pulse. If only he could find his spell book and an hp value that's higher than that of a 5 day-old fly. Love this game though, 11/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately this game hard locks my PC after about an hour of playing. I have no clue what causes it. Great little trip down nostalgia lane just wish it worked on my hardware.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very unique and well done RTS/auto-battler. They have never made a true successor to this and it is better than the sequel and the recent copy-cats.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cosy (NOT?) king sim. The burden of the crown is palpable here. Oh, and Majesty Gold HD is the one you are looking for, not Majesty Gold Edition. (The two profiles are a little confusing here.) To clarify, real playtime numbers of Majesty Gold HD: 31.8 hours (excluding/discounting hours played of the original Majesty, outside of Steam)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the classic games at least for me. though I was a child when I first played it and had no idea about synergies and strategies but man it was so good, also "im melting" is burned into my mind.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played this game so much as a kid, It's unique in the sense that you don't actually control your units, you are a king not a god, you can only set rewards and bounties not force your units to do anything. The developers of this game really put time and care into creating this and it shows, For an old game this still has a lot of replay value even in 2021.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →more gold your majesty
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of my favorite RTS games from my teenage years. I still play it from time to time, and still have the original disc although it stopped working on Windows 10. A must-have for any steam collection. What makes the game unique is that you don't actually control the units, you recruit heroes of different strengths and weaknesses, and build your kingdom to assist them with items like potions and better armor and weapons. They choose how to spend the money they make by defeating monsters and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Majesty: A Fantasy Kingdom Sim is a visionary game where you build a city, buildings spawn heroes, and the heroes do...whatever they feel like. Be prepared to see them cower in fear and run away from monsters; spend all their time in an elven casino getting drunk and wasting your empire's gold while dragons burn down your most prized possessions...AND people; get obsessed with planting herbs when they should be supporting your infantry that are dying; and having five health potions but never…

There is an upgrade that is needed called buying this game if you have not yet so make sure to buy this game and if you need help getting it working the community has your back Sovereign to make sure it works for you! Majesty: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim is a real-time strategy (RTS) game that distinguishes itself from most others by not allowing direct control over your units. Instead, you assume the role of the ruler of a fantasy kingdom, where you establish buildings, recruit heroes,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The best RTS of all time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I first played this game when I was ten. It was pretty neat. I was a dumb kid so I didn't really "get" it like I do now. The thing about Majesty is that it fills a very specific niche in the strategy genre. You're not much of a doer. You don't control your units. You bribe them. You put down reward flags to encourage your heroes to go kill a guy or look around in the fog of war, but if there's nothing for them to do then they're just going to wander around and do what they feel like. They…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A classic of indirect-control strategy games. The HD version offers support for high resolutions and mods. Unfortunately, the game crashes frequently. Sometimes this can corrupt your save, causing the game to crash at the same point every time, so make sure to save often and in different slots.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →is old, is good.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →crashes frequently, very unfortunate. If you're a real fan of this classic, then save often so you can get close to where you were when it crashes.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →darn thing crashes to desktop to much, i loved the old game but i cannot recommend it because half the time crashes and ruins my runs. It is becoming an even bigger issue as I progress through the game with the harder maps and now I can't even finish it before the crash. If it works for you 8/10 otherwise this is a dealbreaker, an infuriating one
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing old game, nothing like it in modern games. A little clunky at times, but captivating in both the charm of the plot and the mechanics of play. Actually has modern multiplayer through Steam and also Steam Workshop, because of the dedication of a single remaining developer. The HD edition even supports modern high resolution screens relatively well. I highly recommend giving it a try.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →hit me right in the childhood
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really like how the game plays. Some expert levels are very hard,
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Imagine if you had a million sims trapped in Dungeons and Dragons. It's basically that but like a really really primitive version of that concept. You get heroes who run around and do stuff of their own will and you focus on managing buildings and helping them. As someone who gets overwhelmed at RTS games this is a softer one and I think there needs to be more games like this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of my favorites! I've been playing for years
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →issue ; game has issues and works horrible i can' seem finish a game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It still holds up after all this time and is just as fun, the first computer game I ever played.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ill never understand why there aren't more of these that are this good. I played this new a walmart purchase back in the day and this game got me into fantasy.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A lightweight kingdom management sim with an outsized amount of charm. The indirect controls and temple-driven magic system gave it a personality most strategy games never found. There is still very little else quite like it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game, and I grew up playing it back in the early 2000s. Initially I bought it on CD back before the days of Steam. I may have a thousand hours of playtime. However, I have recently tried playing the Steam version of this game, and I sadly can't recommend it. The program keeps crashing around day 14, and it makes it so that can't even complete the first scenario. I am unable to recommend a game that is literally unplayable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's good, but you should just play the HD version, because that's better.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good and original game from the time, when studios were still not afraid to come up with original concept. Lot of fun and some of the Expert missions are really hard. But once you figure it out it is very rewarding! To beat the Northern expansions, you need to understand the game well, know the right guild and building combinations. I'm editing my reviews, since some of the missions are a bit weird, if you know what to build, you'll win. It's helpful to read the manual and try different…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gooooooold, your Majesty!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Use to play this game in my younger days and still enjoy it, wished they made a more modern version of this with to days graphics and such. Great story telling and gotta love the sim feature aspect of the hero's.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The games flaws don't show up until the harder missions. Pretty much every mission you're surrounded and pounded and you have to push through with the proper unit (paper-rock-scissors style) until you get an abrupt victory screen. Though I liked the heroes doing their own thing and how they interact with your town, I really can't stand how they don't work together when there's fewer of them or let a Troll wander around smashing my Peasants. There's no pause/build feature, so for some levels,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Probably no point to reviewing this game, since the only people looking it up will be people who played it as a kid. And if that's the case, you already know what a gem it is. If you think it's just fond nostalgia, then buy it and see you were wrong. It still holds up and I wish they would make a new Majesty that has the charm this game has.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved this game back when I had it on CD in 2004. Sadly, the Steam version of it doesn't open on a single device I have installed it on. I keep getting an error message about "runtime error."
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played this game when I was 14 years old when it came out. Still play it to this day and still satisfied with the game play. I can play this game for hours on end without getting bored. This game brings back so many memories, I'm glad I can play it like I did so long ago.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Awesome game. The Gold HD version works perfectly in Windows 10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Plenty of monsters, interesting lore, and hilarious cheats! Years later and I still love this game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You can hear the opening cutscene, but you can't see it, and there is a crippling glitch where the game gets stuck and the music stops after being being idle for a few minutes, something you can only exit by turning off your computer. If you're interested in Majesty, I suggest you try a different copy.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Foundation of my childhood, this game was. It is buggy, and may crash randomly still, but I love it to bits.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i played this all the time as a kid, i wish we would get a new or updated 1
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun and interesting game with a gameplay style that is - so far as I'm aware - entirely unique, which I've adored since I first played it before Steam even launched. This game comes bundled with both the original Gold Edition, and Gold HD. I'm afraid I have to say that you might be unable to access Gold Edition, as it seems to have a compatibility issue with current patches of Windows 11 - crashing almost immediately after reaching opening credits - and Steam does not work correctly when…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Majesty looks like an RTS, but it's more like a hero babysitting simulator. Your primary goal is to create an environment that ensures your heroes don't die instantaneously to the various threats on the map, and that includes providing them with the means to get new gear, items, and spells. All of this predicates upon you finding the best possible way to get as much tax money out of your population as you can. I've played six missions so far and enjoy getting attached to a named character who…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Used to play it as a kid. Still fun after 21 years from release. I had 2 problems with it and here is quick solution to them: 1. Crosshair spamming black squares on screen - copy & paste this to launch options: -useddblit -blitmovietobackground 2. Game freezing after a few mins - go to Steam\steamapps\common\Majesty Gold Edition\Majesty\Data - open MusicTracks with a notepad - delete everything here (game will have no music but it'll fix the freezes) I've made it through all quests with no…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good, notably better than Majesty 2
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an old fantasy themed medieval kingdom management/city builder game where you must build a city and hire various heroes to fix problems for you. The developers superseded this game with a remaster, making this completely obsolete, yet they still have this version on the store, and they're charging a whopping $10 USD for a 19 year old game that they deprecated themselves. Completely unacceptable greed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A forgotten classic
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was this game playtested at all? Day 1 and my base is being overrun by multiple dragons, ice dragons, vampires, minotaurs or whatever 3 digit hit point monsters while I haven't even been able to construct a warrior's guild yet, The developers might think this is a real funny joke. I consider it an abject waste of my time and money. What a worthless piece of ♥♥♥♥ of a game.
