60 of 102 · most liked firstThough it isn't perfect, Elven Legacy is, in my opinion, probably the best tactics game on Steam. It is also one of the few that lets you build your army to a nice size, fielding a good dozen units or so on the field of battle. These large armies are absolutely necessary to capture the essence of what makes for a good tactics game: -Allowing the ability to concentrate forces, -the ability to divide and spread to different objectives, and the endless flexibility and mixing and matching…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a fun old school Turn-based strategy game. The graphics are dated of course, but the voice overs are good. This is not an easy game. Advancing your army and keeping them alive are key to getting through the whole thing, and there is a significant learning curve to this. Knowing when to fight and bypass are also key. It was not unusual for me to complete a level but choose to replay it because I lost so many of my comrades in the process. All this said, I found it a pretty addictive…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This would have been a great game....perhaps the best tactical turn based game in history...BUT...they added a mechanic where the scenario ends in a loss if you do not complete it within X turns. Ruined.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I actually highly recommend Elven Legacy, but only if you played Fantasy Wars and want more of the same. Fantasy Wars has the same gameplay and the same graphics and it's the game you want to begin the story and not get curb-stomped on your very first mission. Now, if you liked Fantasy Wars and want to continue the experience, Elven Legacy is for you. But don't expect any new gameplay mechanism.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Back in April Paradox Interactive released Elven Legacy, the follow-up to Fantasy Wars. In my review, I praised the turn-based battle system and story, but criticized the difficulty and creeping sense of sameness, and eventually concluded by advising gamers to ‘Try It’ for the main game. Since then I have replayed it a bit here and there, and my fondness for the game has grown – it is still difficult, still not as good as King’s Bounty: The Legend, and I would still rate it as a ‘Try It’. After…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A dated Turn Base RPG game in the war-chess format. Everything about this game sets in the fantasy era where human is on the rise while elder race like elf-dragon still holds high in the seat of power. As an elder race like elf there are always secrets about mistakes made in the past and such forbiden knowledge is watched by the watcher at all time until some human mage discovered the secrets and start to cast forbidden spells. Your test is help the lead general and watcher with the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great wargame - a genre that has been quite rare in the past years. Decent storyline and presentation, simple yet deep mechanics, good map design, excellent challenge level. A must play for wargaming-fans, and a big recommendation for fans of tactical RPGs and turn-based strategy games. Edit: Since I've noticed that this is a problem for many potential players, I guess I'll be fair and note it here: there are turn limits for the battles, and they are quite constraining. You can't idle around.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like this game. Play it on the toughest difficulty and the scenarios became easier to win. Why? The rewards are the greatest, most xp, most gold, most artifacts and a sense of victorious well being. A good strategy works whatever the difficulty. Play the game hard and level up!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So the game is "fun" but that fun is reduced in turns. I just want to sit down battle with some units, against some other units and win! But, no.... your turns are limited, so you can't just sit down and enjoy the game, NO you ahve to play MLG style, rush past all the battles DONT take time to think and strategize! NO just rush rush rush.... intead I uninstalled!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Elven Legacy is a decent Turn-Based Strategy game that would get a pass if it wasn't for the godawful time limit. The tactical combat is nice, all units develop skills so it pays to keep them alive and the campaign offers branching missions. On the negative side it seems that all missions involve reaching a certain point on the map, there is no base/city-building whatsoever and the various units and spells all seem bog-standard. But as i said, that time limit is the real killer. You get a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rating: mediocre (5/10) Introduction Elven Legacy is a story-driven strategy RPG where by leading a small army of elves with heroes in turn-based combat you have to fulfill smaler missions to save the elves from a horrible fate. Gameplay & Story: 5/10 Since you get thrown into combat from the very first mission of the campaign, you get to know that the gameplay consists purely of fighting on a small scaled map, upgrading and recruiting your troops between the missions and spending some…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is a fun game, but it is very difficult. You never have enough turns to accomplish the missions. You end up hurrying to the ending point only to find yourself surronded by enemies.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you want a good turn based war game that will challege you, this is it. All your units gain experiance as they are involved in battles, and level up. With each level you can chose new abilities that make them stronger. Each senario is graded gold silver or bronze based on how many turns it takes you to finish it. Along with the rating comes a bonus in a new unit, or gold, so there is reason to want to finsh with gold. Also, if you finsih some senarios with gold, it opens up bonus senario's.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i have no idea why i bought this game...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A decent older turn based strategy RPG I hadn't heard of before. It has a nice high fantasy setting and it looks alright for 2009. Story mode is fun though some maps have time restrictions making them a bit annoying.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you enjoy games like age of wonders and HoMM, this game will be up your alley. The sequal to Fantasy Wars, Elven legacy is another chapter in the world of illis. The game is difficult like its previous game in the series. Sometime one has to reload or replay a map to make through the mission without much loss since your armies transfer to the next mission. What I disliked about this is that some parts of the story are only enable to you if beat some mission very fast, which forces you to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's fun, it's better than other TBS, it's simple to grasp and play, it's priced right. GET IT! Thank you Stars Logan Stars!!! - see comments (hillarious!!)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is hard, even in easy difficulty level. However, it requires good strategy to defeat the enemy and once you can manage that, it's satisfying. The story doesn't leave any mark once you finish the campaign. Same old - betrayal, Evil confuses the good, but ultimately good wins, bla bla bla. If you find this collection in a sale, buy it because if you can coup up with hard turn based strategy with somewhat dated graphics, you're in a treat! Edit: I mistakenly mentioned the game as RTS,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →classic retro turn based strategy game with cool cutscenes, story, and sexy barely dressed elf girls.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I admit that I didn't play this game as long as I maybe should have, but right from the start I could see that this game would enrage the completionist in me. No way to explore the battle map and take my time, as well as get the necessary benefits of a 'Gold' win. Of course I can see how this game could really fit into another person's play style. It's not a bad game, just not what I had hoped for as far as strategy or RPG.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hex-based TBS game with excellent gameplay. Using unit abilities, attacking, upgrading units, everything is polished down to deliver the most enjoyment. Tactics are encouraged and rewarded.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall I like this game, the only downside being that the difficulty level is slightly too high, and even turning the difficulty setting to 'easy' makes no difference to this. The early missions aren’t too bad, but the very late ones are incredibly hard – and never allow you to deploy your full army at once. Elven Legacy is basically a Fantasy General style game, but with better graphics and with more choices for which upgrades you want for which unit, with different unit types getting…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very dangerous spell cast by a traitor has caused the downfall of the elven empire many centuries ago. The elves with the help of the dragons managed to defeat the traitor, but they never managed to return to their former glory. Now, the threat is back - a human mage was seen casting forbidden spells. Sagitell, an elven hero, is incubed with the task to investigate and eliminate the threat if needed! Cool story line, fully voice-acted dialogues, good leveling system and TBS: Elven Legacy has…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The painful elven campaign against dark magic in the successor of Fantasy Wars really impresses your strategic thinking. From time to time, there is a studio that, despite its small budget, can produce an interesting and catchy game for many. Such a title usually does not dazzle with graphics, but rather with the game system and atmosphere. Something like that succeeded in the Fantasy Wars move. For all her supporters, the good news is that the battle is not over. Elven Legacy is the second…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game graphics are dated but good for when it was coded. The turn based missions with a role play story line are challenging. Finally a game I have to work on to attain gold level on missions. If you like TBS games and a challenge you will love this game. Thiss is a fun game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Offers rewarding isometric strategic challenge but has exactly the same game engine as Fantasy Wars and offers less content. There's barely any improvements. Fantasy Wars is a better choice.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This Game seemes like a well though out game with plot and artwork and 3D rendered models but when it comes down to it a lot of the game is un playable due to bugs and glitches. The DLC does not play well either and does not integrate into the main game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →How could i've missed such old classic gem? It's somewhat special and unique.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The last time I played this game, I was leaning toward a fairly enthusiastic 'recommended' review. Let's look at what I was planning to say. The short: when this game gets going and the scenario is interesting (most are), it is a heap of detailed bits of fun, aesthetically and tactically pleasing, and victory is very satisfying. For the hardcore, it can be intensely hardcore. I had even found a simple suggestion to make it more palatable to people of more casual interest. You've probably…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The gameplay is solid, its like an indie version of warhammer. Has a decent story and graphics, as well as good voice acting. Biggest problems I have is the turn limits and difficulty spikes in some of the missions. Worth picking up and running on hard mode if you are into strategy games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fan of games such as Heroes of the Might & Magic, King's Bounty etc. This game, however, lost me within the first hour. I endured for another 3 more hours. Then decided that my time is better spent elsewhere.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you ever played Fantasy General thats what these games are, they are pretty hard but rewarding.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a good turn-based game but too hard. Even in easy mode, I still can't finish this game so I cheat 29000 gold to complete it. (The last 3rd mission cost 7000, last 2nd cost 7000, and the last cost 15000 gold) Even this 29k gold still doesn't make the game an easy cake. I mean if you are not careful, you will spend more than 29K! If anyone has trouble, just press "~" to open chat window, and then type cheat1000gold, then enter, then u can get 1k gold repeatedly. Hope it helps someone who…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good hex based wargame. Different publisher but this is really the sequel to Fantasy Wars from Atari.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →unplayable Game crashes when I try to create a profile. All I can do with the game is look at the introstuff.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another generic turn based game, see fantasy wars ect.... There are more polished turn based games availabe., don't waste your money on this product.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is utter garbage it has piss poor gameplay and the voice acting is weak at best
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game when it was cheap. Mediocre on every possible aspect.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →nice tactical game. it has a feel of warcraft so if you liked any of them i think you may enjoy this. p.s. "fantasy wars" happens before this games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Trite summary: Dawn of War in turn-based fantasy clothing. Typically solid Russian fare - awesome graphics, solid gameplay, and gob-loads of spiel to get through every time someone opens their mouth. My advice: Skip the tutorial, which is a lead weight around the neck of an otherwise colourful, exciting, fun, strategy-em-up.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really good game! It has alot of cool Fantasy units, an amazing storyline, and Skirmish, hot seat 2 player on 1 pc, and Multiplayer. It is a fantastic game. Good graphics the turn-based strategy style is great it really fits in the game, If you are bored and a Strategy games fan you should totally get this, it's something completely different. 8/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As with the [url=https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198081477001/recommended/63900?snr=1_5_9__402]original game , this add-on turned standalone continues the venerated tradition of post-Soviet game publishers to sanitize their product titles in adherence with sensibilities of an imaginary lobotomized and fragile Western Consumer™. While on its passport it says Elven Legacy, at birth its father-mothers at 1C christened it Codex of War: MASTER RACE Because you're elves and you're sick to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it was very fun and challenging. its turn based game and have step limit before you failed the mission, meaning the game is not mean to annihilate entire enemies on map. the game are meant to play with you reaching objective as soon as possible while surviving enemies. it also quite punishing game, even on normal mode. if you only have tier one unit, you wont survive. you literally cant let single unit die if you want finish all mission on normal mode, so if you finish one quest with silver…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Huh. What a curious game. By default, steam installed English version and I only saw the main Elven Legacy campaign available. Then I switched to Russian, steam querried an update, downloaded 1 more gb of data and suddenly it's "Golden Edition" with the main campaign, Rangers, Siege AND Magic. Good game though.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Elven legacy has always somthing special
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you liked Fantasy Wars, I think you'll like this one too. It's not so hard like FW, and this time, you can unlock special bonus missions and play with the previous heroes from FW, which is fun, though, you can only obtain these quests if you earned a gold medal for the certain stages, and that could be tricky sometimes. We got new heroes, new magic, new enemies, alas, we didn't get new music and so on. Sometimes the game offers two ways after some missions, an easier and a harder one, so you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rather dated game, and it shows, even for 5 bucks there are better games out there.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is like kings bounty and the company who made this made kings bounty This game feels like if your playing a magic chess and kings bounty is like dungeons and dragons but this one is great :D
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Maybe the best game on Steam seems like Fantasy General tatics are what this game is about. Try it and if want want to play online add me as a friend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →sadly this really did start as a fun game but i noticed the unending waves of enemies and you not being able to keep up with the horde. i think the game had a lot of potential. i will try the others and see if might be better.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you have read many of the reviews about the difficulty there is something there to it, though not as far as some say that you can't complete any of the levels without cheating. It is not a game where the objective is to destroy the opposing army, you have to fight off the enemies and achieve your objectives. If you can stay and fight you will be overwhelmed in some levels. There is some depth to your army, different units that can be upgraded and gain levels, magic items to equip. If you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →+sexy elves -don't get to play as sexy elves -no tutorial -lackluster gameplay -waste of money
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →People should stop crying about the difficult! This game is wonderful for TBS lovers (y)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fast moving and easy to play turn based strategy
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Does not work on Win11, after a couple of turns the game gets into black screen and requires signing off WIn to terminate because cannot switch to Task Manager , so totally unplayable for me. I understand it's an old title, and I got it for free with another purchase, thus no hard feelings, just not recommended for modern PC. Got no error message or code and have no idea what is the actual issue.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Elven Legacy is a fantasy turn based combat strategy game. Control fantasy units and battle your enemies on hex maps. Certainly a recipe for success, but this game is simply aged too much. While there's 4K support and a few graphics tweaking options, they neglected to do any DPI scaling and there's no options to increase the size of the text or UI elements. As a result, on a contemporary PC, the text and user interfaces are just too small to make this game viable to play. The developers…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As outdated as it may be, it's still a great game. Turn based hex-grid strategy, it's like a tabletop wargame and everybody loves tabletop wargames. The time limit for victory rankings may be obnoxious but once you accept you can't always get gold you'll get along. Once you decide a mission can't possibly be completed quickly you might decide to take your time and murder everything leaving no stone unturned, compensating the missing reward with some loot and plenty of XPs for your units. The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think I started to like Elves
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game can be difficult, but I enjoy the grind of working through it turn by turn!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In short: a competent, fantasy-themed Panzer General. Full disclosure: I actually bought this on physical media in a bargain bin years ago. Picked it up again during a Steam sale. Pros: - solid turn-based strategy experience - choose new abilities for your troops to match your playstyle as they level up - core army carries through a given campaign Cons: - hamfisted voice acting - cliche plot - dated graphics, but I prefer the 3d animations to the 2d sprites of something like Battle…
