60 of 136 · most liked firstI swear I think Steam is attempting to nickle and dime me to death! I'm a serious retro gamer and this game is so awesome! I finished this game years ago, but I'm really looking forward to completing it again. FYI, the first time I played it I actually broke the game. The final boss is supposed to have it's health reduced to 25% and then runs to the last room, however I amped up my character so high that it killed the boss on the first meeting. When I ran to the second room there was…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: + Gloomy atmosphere + Great art design and animations + Decent combat system + No pre-set classes + Somewhat open world (some locations open only along with the storyline) + Full and good dubbing Cons: - Another fantasy game... - Boring story - Annoying controls and camera - Worn clothes by the player's character are not shown in the game world, even with full mail armour he looks like an unarmoured peasant. A surprising hidden gem, I recommend it to everyone who fancies cRPGs. It's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Note: The followings are my first impressions, not a full blown review. I refuse to play this any longer just to write a full review. This game is a travesty. It's parctically unplayable. It runs on my machine, unlike for some here (probably has to do with the fact that I have a ~10 years old PC with Windows XP), but that just means that I wasted more time on it. First of all, the game has no tutorial whatsoever. But hey, it shouldn't be that hard, right? Except the very first enemy (a weak,…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An old and harcore RPG, it is difficult, especially in the beginning. Story is ok, but nothing extraordinary. You'll be banishing demons and undead a lot. Graphics were sub-par even in 2000 but the image may seem OK because of the today's pixelated graphics craze. The best part of the game is combat, its animations look like motion capture. Magic is powerful, but both these activities require you to click mouse button a lot (and miss a button sometimes which can lead to a lost battle). There…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is one of the more addictive games that I have played in recent days. It will provide sufficient quantities of medieval fun. If you're very persistent and don't lay off it for days, 'cause it's not that short, you will finish the game. Again you need a lot of patience to see it through coz it's really long. Really, really long. Overall Soulbringer delivers very well on all fronts of the RPG genre. It has a unique approach to combat and magic, very interesting storyline, and the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After 15 years I'm returning to Ratenna. I'm descending from a ship. Unnamed stranger, who will change the world and save it from oncoming evil. League of Six together again, and only I can stop them. "Soulbringer" is a game of a dawn of CRPG, when there were no established formulas and forms. From the age of experiments. Therefore, it is unusual everything: combat system, design and, of course, plot and style. You won't find anything similar in any games in those years, nor modern. Now we…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well i remember playing this game non stop as a kid... BUt when it came out on steam i found that there where nore than a few bug that where not in the orignal game. Like the combat, there are many occasions where my opponet and i will just sit there and stare at each other (with the exception of spiders, but then agein they where always a nuicence). Also they nerfed the mace which was an AWSOME early game wepoin. the also took out afew items, like at jakes farm, just when you enter the farm…

I can't find it Story is par at best Price $10.99 CDN LOL Seriously? Screen ratio seems a bit off Overall: 4/10 (-1 price) = 3/10 Pass until you can get it under $2
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An old favorite from long ago. Compared to the similar games today it may seem slow but with patience this can be a rewarding game. The music and voice acting is very unique and adds to the overall atmosphere a lot. It can be difficult at times to find locations but back in the day that was the norm. I suggest to the older PC gamers who aren't afraid to show a little patience and understanding to this genre of game before they were super refined.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you can get past the crunchy graphics this classic action RPG is pretty sweet. The combat looks very nice for it's age and the story is good enough to get into. Each area is interesting and the atmosphere has a nice dark feel to it. The quest for loot is real.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Soulbringer is a 3rd person Action RPG published by Interplay, one of my favourite companys of the 80s/90s! Travel to the town of Madrigal and face your destiny! This game has an old school CRPG vibe and is pretty tough like one to boot! This is a fantastic game that I HIGHLY recommend you play!
unlabelledView post →This game is SO good. An absolute classic RPG if there ever was one. I first played this game upon original release and it instantly became one of my favorites. I've played it at least 6 or 7 times and I am about to play again. I currently have 37 hours and I believe that is from one playthrough. The first half dozen times were played on my original disc and not steam. The graphics are very rough and some of the cinematic animations can be a little janky, but these things are very easy to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Worked perfectly as-is, just press play. Win 7 x-64 Nvidia GTX600m Every single downvote for this game is basically some humpty playing on an unsupported system, and can't figure out how to make it work anyway. Obligatory upvote to counteract their nonsense.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game works flawlessly on Windows 7, and while the graphics are admittedly dated, in all other respects it holds up very well.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of my most favorite games, graphics aren't great by any means but the story is solid and the scenery really pulls you in defiently a classic pc game that's a must play I highly recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I couldn't run this game no matter what kind of solution found on the forums, or the internet, I used. Too bad, I have always wanted to play this game and I can't do it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Does not work on Windows 11. You might as well stay with Windows 10 or test it on a VM.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was the game that made me fall in love with RPGs. I played it endlessly back in middle school, and replay it every few years for nostalgia's sake. The story is compelling and every NPC having its own voice actor really bring the game to life. The music is great and always appropriate for whatever situation you find yourself in. It has this creepy, gothic feel to it that sufficiently terrified me when I first played it. The graphics are exactly what you'd expect from a 2000 game, but I do…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An old game that I never heard of nor touched until recently. And I can see why ... This RPG is played in third POV where you're an MC who must defeat the demon kings across 5 different chapters. The resolution wasn't great, as it was made for old PC screen sizes. Expect the art and visuals to be stretched, to even pixel-ated. The latter makes reading the onscreen dialogue of the characters even worse. I couldn't read it well, even at the highest settings. Despite the iffy graphics, I will…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Soulbringer is an old action RPG from the year 2000. Unfortunately it hasn't been maintained well, and crashes on launch under the latest versions of Windows 10. Because the game cannot be played, I sadly cannot recommend it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The new generation of gamers wouldn't know this but this game was actually the first game which used combo combat system and 3 dimensional camera system. Soulbringer is a game about using magic and melee with more realistic approach, rather than colours flying around and lights hitting the enemies out of nowhere. You can literally see the movement of each action, spells, item picking...etc. This was also a first in gaming world. Game was released in 2000. It had problems back then and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As downloaded from Steam it will not work. I have tried various workarounds and nothing good has come of it. A product like this should not be sold on Steam if the developer can't provide a patch to make it work.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It works on windows 10! only with my gaming laptop, my gaming laptop got 2 grapics card, it wont work on the gtx 740, but i works on the intel grapics 4000 card so! it works. I like the retro look but it's allitle bit dark. But you can't blame a game with your taste. If you like dark stuf and love retro games buy it! (I am christain so yeah XD but stil I realy wan't to play the game because the retro feeling!) (And i got the game free so yeah)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game sucks, won't run. Not running for most people. compatibility and running as admin, as well as starting from folder does not work. Apparently doesn't work with AMD and radeon. Could have fixed the game but they didn't. There is a reason it has mixed reviews, and most positive ones are from the few that can run it or have fond memories from 15 years ago. 0/10.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to give this classic game a shot, but the game does not launch from the launcher when pressing play. I fiddled around with it a bit, but then gave up.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No matter the resolution you choose. The texts are unreadable. Super Tiny. Software renderer doesn't work ( some people says this make the texts legible). I do not tested with some workarounds ( install a comunity patch, make some modifications in the windows registry, install and config Dgvoodoo), because is to much fuzz for me just to try to read the text in a RPG
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just a heads up, Game dose run on Windows 8.1 Pro X64 with Nvidia 760 gtx with out compatabilty. heres the main thing about this game.. It uses ether software rendering, DX6 or DX7. Vista and Newer DOSE NOT HAVE DX 8.x or lower support. It only supports DX9.c and newer. DX9.c DOSE NOT Fully suport DX 8.x or older, All that legecy code was dropped back in 2006. negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ok, I love this game. I beat the game in 1999.. In November of that year, my family moved a great distance. Before moving, my father found the game disc and made me destroy it, due to religious reasons. So this event stuck in my head. How is it now saying it was published 6 months after i beat and was made to destroyed it? At a time when we lost the computer, because the move broke it. When I beat the game, i was in high school, but when it came out i was starting university. It was the only…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The graphics on this dated game don't come anywhere close to something released today, but don't let that sway you away from this hidden gem. I have enjoyed this game many times and it is enjoyable to keep coming back to. I believe its combat is something wholly unique, still, to this day.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oldschool rpg. It has a few bugs and it sucks but I love it. Completed the game twice and still recommend it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played this as one of my very first games back in 200X, and I can say it held me in its grasp until the very end. As a "current review" fair warnings before: Cons: - since game is old, you need to be very careful with starting it (find a mode that works in "test" and then load it). A few restarts and careful (avoiding) in the "crash" zone will usually fix it but be prepared to replay corrupted saves. - the graphics are obviously not great for 2022, game is made in 2000. Its not awful…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Whew... Got my 5 minutes in to be able to write a review. Unless you play game on a decade and a half old rig, do not buy this game. I couldn't get it to run on my W10 / GTX 950 under any of the built-in game video settings. Though it appears there are tweaks / settings / files that can be utilized to get the game to run, I do not want to spend my time "fixing" the game to run on my rig. I want to PLAY the game, not WORK the game. Steam / Valve should stop making these old games games…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I picked this up for nostalgic reasons. Make sure that you have the software enabled as graphics on newer machines. The magic system is interesting, where balance can be essential. I wasn't able to finish 12+ years ago since the software would lock-up. This time around I will be a little more cautious near the end. If you can pick this title up on sale for $2.50, I would recommend. I think that Dubbya would agree.....TWO HORNS.

Not windowed, not with rolled back graphics drivers, not in low resoltuion, nothing. It seems it doesn't like win 8, 64 bit OS. AMD or Radeon. Doesn't leave much, does it?

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun CRPG from it's era. Holds up pretty well regardless of bugs.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Excellent game, as long as it runs. Brings back some memories
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another classic game. It has a magic and combat system that is almost wholly unique to it. The story is epic in scale and the world though dated in appearance still seems as vast as the first time I played it. Learning curve might feel a bit steep to those not used to old games. And some puzzles might need to be looked up but all in all, it remains a classic. 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →tried the game didn't work. secretly running 9 hours in the background while I was work is the closest I got to play this game. I could have saved 79 cents and gave it to a hobo to buy alcohol. He could be drinking a tall boy right now to fortify rifling through my companies dumpster.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finished the game and I think was good. Of course is very old school. Graphics are dated and controls are clumsy. Nevertheless, there are several mechanics that were pretty unique. There're plenty spells to learn and many are quite nice. Combat is... interesting... Efficient way to fight, but not the most easy way to solve it, but guess by the time the game was released the whole techy stuff was just fine. The story is good, a little hard to follow, but good enough. Now, I do recommend…
