60 of 130 · most liked firstHonestly, I'd really love to recommend this game... but I just can't, and it's really a shame. Fundamentally, this game proposes to offer a lot of fun and interesting mechanics. It's also generally very fun to play. That said, it's also clearly an unfinished work that the developer has grown tired of and abandoned, and that's really a shame because the foundation here is just so promising. Even fundamental card systems associated with the default decks of one of the three characters is just…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: - equipment, stats, etc. - lots of unique looking enemies - there’s a story - okay UI Cons: - slow runs (esp in the beginning) - not properly explaining stuff - lack of polish (effects, music, etc.) Recommend for now, will revisit at the 1.0.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a cool game, similar to Slay the Spire and others roguelike deckbuilders, but it feels incomplete. Since the release in 2024, they didn't update the game. It's a shame it has lots of bugs.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This one was a miss for me: - cards go in slots determined by number of enemies. This means unless you have instant speed cards you get 1 per turn in 1v1s - because of wanting to play instants cards to actually play out your hand play order is almost decided for you. There are multiple card types which have a countdown timer that when it hits 0 the card becomes instant so play the 1 card per turn you can until can actually make choices - because of above points even with combat speed cranked…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Almost all of the achievements are broken. 💩 I should have 13/18 by now instead of 5/18. Edit: They started unlocking randomly for no reason, but i'm still missing 2. At this point, i should have reached 100% at around 15 hours of playtime. I'm now at 37 hours, this is just ridiculous.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A solid turn based roguelike with a deck building system. There are 3 classes, each with their own cards and playstyles. One big difference between this game and others is that you can normally only play 1 card per enemy unit, however you can bypass this is cards have traits such as "instant" which plays them immediately, or "redeem" which plays them when they are discarded so ideally you are able to play a bunch of cards that trigger off each other. There is also a gear system, you can…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The base is solid but there is no varriety in encounters. You play each character once and then it's the exact same every time
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Neat ideas. Very poor execution A simple playtest and grammar check could do wonders for this very lazy title. A shame, the art and some mechanics are nice.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall a fun and fairly easy roguelike. You can make fun game breaking builds. But there is way too many bugs. Set items: you can't see what the set bonuses are until you equip multiple pieces of that set and some sets seem to have no bonuses for some reason. (timeless set/champion set) Equipment does not have a symbol to show which slot it goes in, usually pretty self explanatory but then you have a necklace that goes in the weapon slot instead of accessory slot. Cards do not work properly.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Actually quite enjoyable for the 12 hours it took me to beat the final boss (Satan) for the first time, but riddled with far too many flaws to make it a worthy recommendation. Just to name a few: - The mechanics are very poorly explained through the game, not even the most basic ones like the difference between Block and Armor. I still do not understand how some of them work after having finished it. Like how exactly does damage absorpion work? Idk. What does the scaling shown next to weapons…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →+ There is a pool of different starting decks + The gameplay itself is fun + Many interesting cards and effects, items are a nice addition - Set bonuses are not explained - Sometimes cards get lost for no apparent reason - There is way too much text for a rougelike / rougelite. Between rounds you sometimes have to click on a chat for 5+ times - Runs take too long
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it took me a while to get used to the way combat works, but then you fly through battles like a knife through butter sometimes it's a dull knife
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am genuinely confused by this game. Tried 1 run, spent 2 hours and finished it with ease until the very end, that is locked behind further progress. The idea of the game isn't much different from other games in the genre. Yet, the execution is rather poor. Here are some examples: -There are no tooltips for some effects. You don't know in advance what you get, when you pick a card with stealth. -The balancing is so far off, that the game throws cards at you that allow full damage negation…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Who would have thought that Souls mechanics would fit so well into a deckbuilder
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You can roll to prevent attacks and there’s a big ass mushroom, so yeah, it’s a soulslike deckbuilder alright
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game has a lot of potential. I really enjoy the story and gameplay. A few critiques though: - Really dislike how you can't take a card back once you place it. I really hope in the future you can either just drag it out or even have a full undo turn button (I would prefer the former, latter feels a bit cheaty to me). - I don't know if English is this developer's first language but I did notice some typos or grammatically incorrect sentences, but everything is still perfectly readable and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bossfights and regular struggles are tough, yet fair, and the progression is rewarding. Also, enjoyed the execution thing and those little references to souls-like games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Preface this by saying that I do like this game and enjoy it but I do have low standards. Poor programming of the card game itself, there are steps that are out of order and cards execute themselves in ways that make no sense for their stated wording or most CCG style games. Story is ok, if nothing new but the actual writing itself feels machine translated. There are archaic uses of words and other strange phrases used throughout the game. Menu design is bland with generic tinted boxes and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →good art and a decent plot (though it seems a bit confusing) some mechanics of the game are quite interesting the problem is that it won't be easy for beginners, but it's definitely worth a try
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Score: N/A There are simply too many good (rogue-lite deck-builder) games to play instead of this. I'd rather just play more Slay the Spire or Monster Train. Combat is unbalanced, sometimes exploitable. Getting more actions per turn depending on the number of enemies is really stupid. Combat actions and animations execute slowly. Writing is bad. Comedy doesn't land. Many choices are uninteresting, but some are well designed/balanced. Art and animation quality are good. Audio/Music/SFX are…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't miss out on this gem if you are after a chill game that you can relax and take your time with. So many hidden gems in the narrating and story tells me this is a game made by a gamer, just like me :D Truly enjoyable and I love that you can exit and pick it up right where you left off at any time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Is there no saving and returning? How? I don't have the time for full run throughs in one sitting but enjoy playing it. Why?!?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is rather boring and a random battle with simple units was way harder than the sub boss before it. The story makes no sense and the writing and use of English is pretty bad. Gameplay is meh, kind of uninspiring. Was ok for an hour of play, but won't be revisiting it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A wonderful combination of Dark Souls and card roguelike. You pick a starting class based on warrior, mage and rogue. You play cards turn by turn. There are cards like parrying or rolling, souls of boss enemies can be added to your weapons for extra effects or turned into legendary cards. Highly recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game teaches you not to become overconfident if something comes easy to you at first
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Updated: Pretty cool indie card battler with some interesting mechanics, would recommend to others who also enjoy card battlers. The reference to and themes of angels and demons is pretty worn out though. Points of constructive criticism: 1. Improvements are needed for the English translation and dialogue. Much of the dialogue is disjointed and the grammar is incorrect throughout the game. Also, multiple choice dialogue options that do not lead to different outcomes are pointless, but I…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am having a LOT of fun with this game but the only thing bugging me is the need for more content. More Levels, Bosses, Classes, Gear, add Companions, more Objectives it just needs more. would absolutely recommend for rouge-like gamers.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked it, but it still needs improvement. Positive review for now, will revisit in a couple of months to see how things are going. Judging by community posts, devs intend to work hard on this, I believe them, but we all know how things change.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think it needs better tooltips\tutorial, because sometimes cards do stuff I don’t expect them to. Still, it was not a deal-breaker for me, because I did not encounter anything game-breaking, just some weirdness I don’t get. The start is slow, but the visuals and the atmosphere were good, so I did not mind the pace. Right now it is 6\10 with potential to become 8\10 with updates, so I will revisit the game in a few months.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Warriors huge dong goes bonk
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’ll give it a thumbs up for now, especially given the EA price. It’s rough for sure but there is enough content already: three unlockable classes, what seems to be lots of unlockable cards, different boss buffs/debuffs (you’ll get it if you play) and another layer of variety which lies in a sort of RPG system, meaning leveling/stats and equipment. All in all, a novel entry in deck-builders.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As much as I want to like it I must admit: I have seen much more polished game with much worse review score. Perhaps it is a psychological need to excuse a game that would otherwise turn out great, if it was properly finished, that is. Game tips and descriptions in-game are basically non-existent. Half of the time I am not sure if a card effect is broken and nothing happens, the card is discarded or burnt. Maybe it works, effects are just so mellow, I don't register properly. Burning…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →https://youtu.be/Ur4_D9CEn7g Limiting card count to enemy count prevents playing combo or variety of cards in most fight which instead become slow slug fests.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Super basic mechanics, simplified deck management. On top of that it's full of UI issues/bugs: for example of you play on Steam Deck, opening the inventory will soft lock you since you can't close it in any way. Not recommended.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Deck of Souls, developed by Bigboot Studios and published by HeroCraft PC, is a dark fantasy roguelike deckbuilder that attempts to blend methodical, Souls-inspired design with strategic card-based combat. It places players in a grim, looping world where death is not failure but a necessary step toward growth, and every encounter demands careful planning rather than quick reactions. The game distinguishes itself by translating concepts like stamina management, equipment burden, and deliberate…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a bad game, achievements were a little bugged first time i played the game and they wont proc now that I've already gotten past that point but I guess I can find a way to manually enable them if it really bothers me...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like Slay the Spire you'll like this. Simply put. Another solid game in the genre.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Could use a bit more content like unlocks and stuff, but otherwise its great! ;)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"A Slow and Uninspiring Roguelike Card Game." As a big fan of roguelike deck-builders, I was excited to try Deck of Souls, but unfortunately, this was one of the rare instances where I couldn’t push past the 30-minute mark. Right from the start, the game felt painfully slow, and despite its unique mechanics, it just didn’t click for me. The core concept of Deck of Souls is interesting on paper—you counter opponents by placing cards under their actions, which is a unique spin on deck-building…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing art, funny dialogues and great combat!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall a 7.5 of 10. Graphics are nothing special; Music is well done; Gameplay QnA needs some work as there are some moments the game is a bit sluggish to respond and some of the games systems are not clearly explained (example that you SPEND souls if you don't take a card) and stuff like Set Bonuses should be clear. I would say the game is a excellent game; the idea is simple Rogue-like where you run through and unlock bonuses to make later play thoughs far better and easier; there are only…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The bosses are, apparently, a classic souls-like thing. Just when you think you beat the fool and then he slaps you down with the second phase.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun little card game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's ok. You can read the negative reviews to understand things like balance issues, bugs, translation/writing issues, etc. Replayability after beating the game is sort of there with meta progression and trying out builds. The overall loop doesn't really have much variety, so I was basically feeling done after I beat the true ending. I just hate achievements like the Conqueror achievement, which basically make you replay the game way more than you want to. Still, I'm glad I played it. So,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoy this game now and then, sure it can be frustrating, but its a good game and well worth a play, i just wish there was a little more to it, maybe a couple more characters, or more variety in enemies, or even just some random different levels to break up the continuous same bunch over and over, none the less, well worth a play,
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not as good as Slay the Spire, but it's amusing. The dialog is terrible. Not sure if it's bad on purpose or bad translation/grammar. It's worth playing if you get it in a bundle or on sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoyed the game quite a bit. (my play time at the time of writing says 79 hours but quite a bit of that is just when I left my computer on) Overall good deck builder with some different mechanics that are unique to the game. Offers a "gearing" system as well as set bonuses and stat improvement as you go through runs in addition to adding and removing cards during the runs themselves. Between runs you get a minor amount of meta progression that comes in the form of unlocking new cards…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first time I wrote this review I was polite and decided to give the game a chance and play further through it to see if it had merit or possibility to improve. I had some interest in seeing the plot develop and essentially if the game got any better. It does not. I played this for several hours to give it and honest go and the more I played it the more I was disappointed. Under the Hood: Kinda Broken The mechanics and order of operations in combat are well off and several features are…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a really competent Slay the Spire like game. There are more than 200 cards in total. There are not as many different types of builds you can build and play, but it's decent enough to play through the game several times. It's very easy to learn all the mechanics, so it's one of those games that's very easy to pick on from the very first try, which is very good. Overall. I really enjoyed playing this game. You can sunk in many hours into this game if you want to explore all the difficulty…

unlabelledView post →This game sticks close to the STS formula but brings a few cool card types and extra systems (like equipment) to keep it fresh. Also, the helping of comedy in the events helped keep this interesting where other roguelike deckbuilding games might fall short.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been enjoying the game, its a familiar genre that has some of it's own uniqueness, also. There are definitely a lot of interesting cards that make you want to build a strategy around them. The equipment and character leveling systems allow you to customize your character to the deck's strengths. Currently you collect the souls after defeating enemies, and spend them to level up different areas of your character's stats and equipment, but "leveling" doesn't always do something. You just…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game definitely provides a deeper and darker experience than one might think from looking at the screenshots and video.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →With the addition of new biomes and enemies, the game has become more interesting. Many decks have made sense and I can experiment with builds. Assassin is still my favorite.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I thought it was a pretty fun game until one random event destroyed my heart.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Every time I am resurrected the game soft locks on "Resolving Cards". I have exited and continued the run and also abandoned the run and started new and it's the same results every time. Please fix dev.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For starters I think this game has great potential. Doing this review I put my mind to reveal a lot that might make sense to someone that has played the game, without revealing too much for those who yet have not played the game. The discovery of the fun stuff is the fun part after all. The Good Interesting currency system: Dull souls, Radiant souls and some last one i dont remember the name of Lots different cards Lots of different card types with cool effects Charming…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a very interesting game. The game has a lot of different game mechanics. Your main tool on the battlefield will be cards, of which there are a large number in the game. The game is well optimized and has convenient controls. Recommended!
