Each level is a small tactical riddle, and the enemies are just tough enough to keep things spicy. Soundtrack is surprisingly good too. Big recommend.

A turn-based strategy game with 8 unique heroes. Each hero has their own unique skills that you can upgrade. You'll fight against various enemies in large, multi-level stages. After you complete a level, you will receive upgrade money. The best part is that each hero uses their own special crystals for upgrades, so there is no boring grinding involved :) Win battles by utilizing the strengths and weaknesses of each unit, both yours and your enemy's. The game is somewhat similar to chess !

this game will make you feel clever for five turns straight, and then you’ll get utterly destroyed. then you’ll re-roll your team and try again. and that’s the loop

Honestly the best tactics game I’ve played since Into the Breach. No filler. Just smart fights, upgrades that matter, and actual build variety. Full version’s got enough content to sink a week into by the looks of it. Worth it.

It's #TurnBasedThursday, thank you for hosting! We recently released Guards II - a tactical turn-based strategy game with seemingly simple rules but deep, thoughtful mechanics. Only one week left to grab it with a launch discount - don’t miss out! store.steampowered.com/app/2958570/...

Fun little turn based puzzle game. Put together party of 4 heroes (out of 8 available) and win by strategically moving them in and out of battle considering their abilities, strength/weaknesses and enemy placement. The only thing i could complain is a price if you consider how much game there is, probably wait for a sale. The game is far too simple and short for 15$. Haven't finished yet but can't imagine it will take more then 8-10 hours to finish campaign, maybe 20 hours to finish…

A simple tactical game, very addictive, I played the demo version for a long time ago, at that time it seemed too monotonous, the content was decently added to the release version.

This game seemed rather simple the first half hour and I admit I was doubting my purchase but boy I'm happy I stuck with it as the strategic complexity becomes deep and truly EXcellent right after that hour mark and kept on giving! it's a really fun and interresting strategy puzzle^^ read some other positive review why the systems are so good sicne I'm too busy playing this game to bother doing so^^

The tutorial is a bit iffy and didn't clearly explain the mechanics, but after playing a couple of levels, I finally understood what this game "was about", and I have to say it offers a very interesting and deep set of competing objectives you have to optimize against each other. Sid Meier claims that a good game is "a series of interesting choices", and this game manages to superbly avoid the pitfall that many other turn based strategy games fall into, which is that there's often an obvious…

Thought this would be a cozy pixel tactics game. Instead I got a brutal puzzle hellzone with demons and a UI that’s almost trying to kill me. It’s not perfect, but it’s smart as hell and rewards you for planning ahead. Addictive stuff.

Great game full of quirks and tricks. A breath a fresh air in the tactical genre. Perfect if you like trial and error because the tooltips are minimal and the UI is a bit lacking. Would recommend as a challenging puzzle.

This is Into the Breach’s weirder cousin. One action per turn feels so limiting until it suddenly doesn’t, and then you’re doing galaxy-brain combos with super abilities. Ever new mission I’m learning new tricks. Easily one of the best tactical indies this year.

I play a lot of roguelikes and grid-based tactics, and this is one of the few that made me stop and think every single turn. Love the pacing. Highest difficulty is brutal.

Simple mechanic, but surprisingly tactical and definitely not easy (on hard). Hero selection, hero upgrades, general upgrades and item selection all provide a lot of decision making room, and that's even before the battle. My only gripe is that the last level has a significant difficulty spike compared to the rest of the game on the same difficulty. Still, the last battle was pretty cool and the entire game satisfyingly. However, there is a sort of New game+ mode that introduces new enemies,…

Update: After 10h it still keeps getting better and deeper. I love it so much! The curve of fun/gameplay/depth is very solid! It's so simple, yet so good and just deep enough for a "chill" gamer like me. You "just swap hero positions" and that's it! (It's a bit more than that of course, but they really make it work with a simple setup!) The demo was so amazing, I couldn't wait for the release and just had to buy it, I am playing on the hardest difficulty cause I like to get my ass handed to…

The negative. - The combat can get repetitive after a while. The core mechanic is really good, but you're essentially working within the same formation-based system throughout the entire campaign. - Some of the harder encounters, especially later on, can also feel a bit too punishing. There are definitely moments where figuring out the "intended" strategy feels more like trial and error than actually making meaningful decisions. It's satisfying once you figure it out, but getting there can…

Guards II: Chaos in Hell is a tactical strategy game that manages to create impressive depth from a very simple foundation. Developed by Battlecruiser Games and published by HeroCraft PC, the game sends players into the depths of Hell to battle demonic forces using a compact squad of heroes and a combat system built entirely around positioning and timing. At first glance, the mechanics appear almost too minimalistic, but after only a few battles it becomes clear that the simplicity is…

Wasn’t sure at first, but once I got to the second realm and unlocked more abilities, it clicked. It's like the devs distilled all the good stuff from turn-based games and threw out the bloat.

It’s hard, but in a good way. At the start I was afraid that the game would be too simple, but it caught up with me reeealy fast. Since the plot is very basic, this is definitely a game I would play mainly for the fun mechanics. Sure, swapping around characters does not sound like much fun, but I promise that it is. The characters you have are very distinct, so I spent some time mixing and matching my party to get the combination that I like best. Also, music in this game is very good, so I was…

I enjoyed this game for a few hours and would recommend it to someone who wants a casual, retro-inspired puzzle game. At the same time, the mechanic of rotating the heroes got stale after awhile, and it just didn't hold my attention for very long. If I reflect on why it got stale, it was generally because there was no way to "get ahead" with planning or tactics. This was really more of a puzzle game where you had to get the right combination of heroes to pass through the levels and…

Very fun puzzle/tactics game. Short and to the point, it has a unique take on the genre: there are lanes of enemies that advance towards the 4 guards, and the turn only activates when you swap the position between 2 of them. Additionaly, the backline has a gimmick where it heals and when you move a guard into the frontline, they use a special skill. This opens up a lot of decision making and tactical play. So it's a really refreshing take, and it's simple and intuitive enough to grasp the…

It is a good turn-based strategy with an interesting twist on the usual mechanics. If you like strategies, this is a solid option. Not a lot of those nowadays. The only downside for me is that the interface is hard to read because of the pixelated font.

Very cool tactical setup. You only swap two heroes per turn, but that’s all it needs. Everything else spirals from that one move. Once you understand how ultimates work, the fights become super dynamic. Simple rules, complex outcomes. I’m hooked.

Been following since the prologue. Devs didn’t mess it up. All heroes have second stances now, more content, more difficulty, still has that “one swap, many outcomes” magic. If you liked the prologue, this is that, but on fire, in a good way.
