Pros: Soundtrack and sounds are good Enemies seem to be thought out. Getting attacked by a bunch of parrots is funny Maps are decent. Vibe is right Cons: The UI needs some work. Clicking on an upgrade back at base accidentally purchases it. The only way to cycle through the various upgrades to see what they are is to use arrow keys. Unintuitive.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is NOT ready for ANY release! The imbalance is ridiculous. Even after all the playtime I have, I still get killed within 3min due to over spawn and lack of any real treasure to help. Needs a LOT of improvement in technicality and some kind of tutorial that covers a lot more than what is covered now, which is sparce. This could be a great game! Right now, it's pretty much something that needs to go back to the drawing board...it's a mess.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wrote a very long review and Steam didnt publish so short resume: It has potential but almost no content yet - beat the 2 stages couple times in less than 3 hours. Difficulty early game and metaprogression need serious balance. Neutral/No for now. I will get back after couple updates if they improve the above
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At first, I was perplexed as to why parrots were the main enemies, but when I saw flying crabs, everything fell into place.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →perfect game to pass the time, and I liked it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty chaotic once the screen fills with enemies, in a good way. I like the vibe!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →will not work. Neither controller nor deck respond so i am stuck on main menu. *Update* A patch was released pretty quickly I now have full control! The game is aiight...... Grinder though. Takes forever to progress and prepare { IF possible} to be positively SWARMED about 3 minutes in, every run. Would be nice if there was a difficulty setting.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Update: On Sept 10 th, the game was patched and now works with controllers As of Sept 9th, the game doesn’t work with a controller, even though the store page says the game supports controllers. If you want to play with a controller, hold onto purchasing until the game gets patched.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Curse of Pirates is a solid pirate-flavored take on the Vampire Survivors formula. You sail around, fight endless waves of sea monsters and rival pirates, pick up upgrades, and build crazy combos with your crew. The pirate theme fits really well, the action is fast and satisfying, and the different builds keep runs interesting. Feels good to mow down hordes while collecting loot and getting stronger. If you like action roguelikes with a fun theme, this one is an easy recommendation. Ahoy!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting concept but: a) You cannot skip animations or text. Super annoying. The reason why I refunded this game. If I have to see every chest opening animation etc. every single time I don't want to play this game anymore. Especially in a rogue like game where you are supposed to die - repeat - die - get stronger etc. this is just annoying. b) Settings are limited to the absolut minimum c) Some text is not translated. You'll see strings like "Weapon XY: Chance: {%Chance%}". So no idea…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game has design decisions that just aren't it. In a 2d game there is way too many things that you can collide with that just stop you in your tracks. In a 3d game that is fine as you just get good at pathing and have a fun time movement teching around obstacles which is a massive part of roguelites. In this sometimes you just have dead ends that mean instant death and sometimes the gathering nodes spawn in a way that block your path and kill you. Speaking of things that stop you, whoever…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’m one of those people who bought "Sea of Thieves" with eyes wide with excitement, only to spend half an hour sailing to an island, another half hour back, and realize: this isn’t “pirates,” it’s “meditation to the sound of the waves.” Beautiful? Yes. Fun? Well, it depends. Curse of Pirates is a whole different story. Here, from the very first seconds, you’re thrown into a meat grinder of sea monsters, undead, and other sea creatures, and you don’t even have time to catch your breath and enjoy…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have waited for 4 — No, 5000 years for this!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Curse of Pirates is an energetic action roguelike that takes the familiar survivor-style formula out to sea and surrounds it with cursed waters, bizarre monsters, treasure hunting, and a crew of unusual companions. Developed by Funky Parrot and published by HeroCraft PC, it embraces an exaggerated pirate fantasy rather than attempting anything historically grounded. The result is a colorful adventure where becoming ridiculously powerful is just as important as surviving whatever horrors emerge…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The idea is good, but not well executed. The game is really unbalanced and repetitive.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are plenty of better games in the genre out there. The flaws of this one are: Boring upgrades. Any game that does 3% more speed on your very first upgrade really isn't showing you a good time. Weapons are kinda meh. They don't feel interesting or fun. Game is very poorly explained. Like you try to collect powerups, they don't tell you what each does, some need you to press a button, others need you to wait there, it just feels thrown together lazily. Play something like Yet Another…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is pretty good. But Astrid looks more like a secretary on Halloween, ready to take the blame for cold coffee.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked this vampirelike hybrid with ships, which reminded me of Corsairs — interesting builds and new features. I’ll be waiting for new updates
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’ve been waiting for this game to come out for a long time. I love themes related to the sea and pirates. The game lived up to my expectations. It has many different mechanics, and it turned out to be dynamic and fun. Playing it is an absolute pleasure.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A pirate ship captured a merchant liner. The pirates threw all the men overboard and divided the women among themselves. The cook didn't get any. So he goes to the captain and says, "Captain, this is it. I didn't get any." And the captain says, "We'll sort it all out." The captain gathers the whole crew and says, "Brothers! The cook didn't get any women. What should we do? I propose this. He cooks whatever he wants for three days, and we eat it without complaining. Whoever complains first gets…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love the idea and look of this game, but there are some quality of life issues at the moment. The UI has a lot of issues, much of upgrade system isn't explained (potentially doesn't function), and the gameplay loop doesn't feel as stratifying as other similar roguelikes (vampire survivors, megabonk, etc). At the moment, it doesn't feel like a 1.0 release.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →same as Grind Survivors balance is trash
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I spent hour dodging cannonballs and hoarding cursed chests only to blow myself up with my own powder keg
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Still not working on the steam deck!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A solid clone in the vein of Vampire Survivors, only with a pirate theme. A varied selection of upgrades and quite extensive meta‑progression. If you like time‑wasters like this, I recommend giving it a try.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pirates + bullet hell + roguelite? I'm in! And yeah, this works just like I imagined.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Had fun and I like sounds, but it's hard in midgame
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Some of the enemy designs are just hilarious. Flying crabs got me good LOL. But my favorite are parrots and those screams - such funny
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun for the first 48 deaths then gets repetitive and slightly boring. ~~As this is still in early stages im letting life support do its thing.~~ Nevermind I saw when it was released, pull the plug and charge your phone. Pros. Pirates, Great 1900 style graphics, achievements. Cons. Youll die when selecting your perks, youll die when you blink, youll die when you look away, youll die from level up cut scenes. gonna uninstall and wait till next year to see if any improvements are made.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Early access makes me believe that they will fix the balance and improve the gameplay.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In the ship setting this game is a bit weird and I generally like it that way
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →- Curse of Pirates / Playtest - HeroCraft PC - Steam I got access to the playtest with my Humble Choice subscription. Essentially it is a Pirate theme Survivors-likes game, but mostly focuses on sailing around getting resources and using them to get more updates, plus it is a roguelike I guess?

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're looking for a goofy, fun pirate adventure and don't mind a little jank along the way, give it a sail!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First boss fight crashes game. First boss goes off screen and you just have to alt-f4. First boss cheeses you with BS.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →“In a world of straight lines, be the crooked path.” “A pirate’s heart beats for freedom, not fortune.”
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An excellent roguelike for fans of pirate-themed games. Highly recommended for anyone who loves rum, adventure, and sailing the high seas!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you want to have a blast firing cannons to cool music and battling krakens, this is the place for you.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cool survivor-like with a pirate theme. Bouncy races, lots of enemies and quite interesting combinations of abilities. I especially enjoyed collecting crazy builds with poison, fire, ghosts and other evil spirits. There is a sense of progress, and each new race is a little different. Overall, it's a fun and relaxed game for a few evenings.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My computer raised the black flag the moment I started searching for a pirated version of this game! 10 out of 10 parrots
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →cool pirate roguelike simialar with vmpire survival
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Stylish pixel art, pirate shanties, and cannon volleys - the atmosphere here is great, and that immediately wins you over. In terms of gameplay, it’s a classic clone of Vampire Survivors, only instead of running across a field, you sail across archipelagos. You collect coins, wood, and stones, open chests with upgrades, and upgrade your ship. The most interesting part is the marks that are inserted into skills. Without them, you’re just shooting, but with them, any weapon turns into madness:…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is FIRE. I’d even say it’s similar to a game another streamer playe I don’t remember the name "Silver Name" the pioneer of this genre. And here it’s my favorite: the sea and leveling up — I got hooked. Respect ++
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It’s a cool game, with interesting mechanics, lots of different bosses, locations, and leveling options. The game is addictive, I recommend it to everyone.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ahoy! A cool game about ships with good pixel art. The curse is real: it’s the “just one more voyage” curse. My ship sank, my parrot disowned me, and I’m pretty sure a skeleton stole my boots. Still, 10/10 — would get cursed again.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The pirate vibe is actually pretty fun, enjoyed my time with it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the most fantastic well thought out $1.99 game I've ever played. Probably ever made. Big week for nautical games while I was away you got this and then an outstanding pirate ship bullet heaven called Curse of Pirates. Ahoy! #steam #videogames
unlabelledView post →Some kind of looter shooter with upgrades, but set in a pirate setting. It was pretty interesting.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is my first Soulslike game, and the first boss took me right back to my childhood - to the time my brother let me play *Dark Souls*. "It's nothing hard," he said. After 15 minutes of frantic dancing on the water, I finally managed to take him down on my third attempt with just 15 HP left. Before I could even catch my breath or heal up, red phantoms ambushed and killed me. Great game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nooo, not the Kraken, not the Kraken!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A solid Vampire Survivors clone with a pirate twist. Steering a ship between islands and fighting the wind is actually pretty challenging. The best part is upgrading your cannons to shoot poison or spawn tentacles - you can make some crazy builds. The screen gets a bit too messy with effects later on, and the early grind is slow, but for the price, it's a great time killer.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beter than AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Raise the pirate flag. A cool game where you'll fight hordes of monsters.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ahoy, ye old sea dogs! A thousand devils foul yer riggin'! We ain't met to swill rum — strike me dead if I lie: a Spanish galleon heavy with pieces o' eight passes by in two days. I say we join forces, board her, an' split the plunder fair, else the governor's Black Spot marks every mother's son o' us. So haul yer oars whilst ye may, an' ready yer grapplin' irons!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There's a reason the "Bullet Hell" tag is used. It's a roguelike, but a newbie will quickly be reduced to a mere rag used to scrub the deck. There's leveling and achievements. I enjoyed it. Wild action and a surprise boss. All hands on deck!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the weird mix of ships, magic and monsters.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I hadn't played a naval-themed roguelike before. The game is gripping—sometimes you don't even have time to react to the bosses and monsters.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought it to feel like Jack Sparrow, but I got a parrot that swears and a treasure map that leads to a dead end. There’s pirate romance — you spend the whole day running around with a crooked saber and cursing the physics. 10 out of 10 for the fact that the game honestly warns you: the curse is real — you start saying “arr” in real life.
