60 of 67 · most liked firstAfter researching for weeks for a game I think I would really like I get to this. I played for an hour and requested a refund. The tutorial island is terrible, the 'helpful' messages get in the way of your view, all inventories are unintuitive, what is clickable on the screen is impossible to tell without mousing over it. The very first quest had improper info. Talk to the quest giver then open a door elsewhere. Get to the door, says talk to the quest giver. Go to quest giver, says open…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Update 12 March 2017: **Patches/State of the Game: Well, despite Iggy's claims they're still supporting the game, the last patch notes are from 2015( see these two images- iggy claiming it's still supported, but latest patch notes being from Nov 2015 http://imgur.com/gallery/TbIsG . Check the discussion boards if you don't believe me) and from all I can see it's still utterly broken. http://www.dreamatrix.net/news/wod_updates.html which is their official site for WoD updates reinforces this.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a Kickstarter backer of this game, I was able to play in its pre-release, and I have to say I'm impressed with Dreamatrix more and more, and am glad that I backed this game. Not only is Wave of Darkness an improvement over Legends of Dawn, but a whole new roleplaying experience, and the team has seemingly fixed all the problems that folks had with the first one. For example, while the game still does not hold your hand or put exclamation marks over the important NPCs (or even more insulting…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wave of Darkness was something I wasn't expecting. I love all types of RPG games and Wave of Darkness is another one to add to the list.To me it came across of Diablo 2 mix with Sacred 2. For an early access title, there is plenty of game contents to keep you going for hours. At the time of writing this, I only put in almost 5 hours but had no major game crashes or game breaking bugs to warrant any reason to stop playing the game. With my GTX 960 I can run the game on max with some minor…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For the amount of people complaining about this game on the forums, i don't understand. First off, yea, there is a couple of bugs, but there not game breaking. One is when you 1st load up the game, the game is unresponsive, but that is easy to fix, you close it, close it in the task manager, and start it up again. This fixes it. The other bug i found is some enemies teleport around. I actually thought it was a monster skill at 1st, but i guess it is a minor glitch. As far as im concerned,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quality is missing in every dimension: control, animation of the main character, graphics quality, and basic quest chains. On the tutorial island I encountered a bug where the game failed to flag that you'd spoken to the NPC quest-giver (the captain) and kept a door locked; no keys, no recovery, and talking to the NPC again just told you to hurry. Promising concept, but very poor execution. Very disappointed in my purchase. An absolute waste of money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was super hyped for this game when I saw it on Kickstarter. I backed it up to the highest Digital Tier. I didn't have much money and felt skipping a meal or two would be worth it. I waited patiently for it's release and then some to give the devs a chance to work out some bugs. I'm not big on early access and am happy to wait for something decent. I jumped in recently and after giving it a decent amount of in-game time(10+ hours) I can say I am thoroughly disappointed. I was expecting…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →https://youtu.be/S3ZJy1doOag Wave of Darkness was developed and published by Dreamatrix and released on November 5th, 2015. The game was a Kickstarter campaign that successfully funded at over $20,000. Dreamatrix provided a review copy to The Hidden Levels and we thank them greatly for that. Ammendment: I have played through the fixed tutorial and learned how to craft spells and use runes for them. This aspect of the game is very unique and fun, crating spells using the faith can lead to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Early Access rpg that had a tutorial quest bugged right at the start. Refunded.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like classic RPGS with a little freshness thrown in then you will love this game. DO NOT be scared away from reviews of their older game "Legends of Dawn". They have learned from the past and created a wondefull hidden gem that everyone needs to play. I am happy that I took a chance and purchased Wave Of Darkness and so will you.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First of all: MaxLvl 17?! Also: - Graphics from 2003 - Battleanimation from way before 2003 My grandma is long gone but i guess they reincarnated her to make the maps. (They suck) Refund plz! Btw: Get Grimdawn

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The devs have considered all remarks of the players, and in a short time solved the most problems. There are still some problems, but I'm sure they will succeed with the help of the players, to make a very good RPG this game. The main quest is very long, but I think it lacks side quests - maybe later? I still have many things to do - to equip my home in Sidis Tarea to store ingredients and then make some crafting. Deepening the creation spells ... still lots of hours of gameplay! Discover all…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have 5 hours in the game and just finished the tutorial island plus the next area after that. I'm loving this game! It reminds me a lot of Gothic (my favorite game) or Risen. Don't expect cutting edge graphics or animations. The focus of the game is on story and exploration. The world is packed with stuff to interact with and to find and using your map is essential. Yes, you can make bookmarks on the map. The voice acting is great. Combat is OK; don't expect Grim Dawn style action combat.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wave of Darkness takes all the lessons that Dreamatrix learned from Legends of Dawn and creates an entertaining ARPG. Aspiring Mages will especially enjoy the title as they have the opportunity to craft personalized spells to meet the challenges ahead. Do you want a spell that makes you run faster, while it heals you and increases your hitpoints? You can do that here! Maybe you want to create a huge poison cloud around yourself that kills off weaker enemies outright and greatly weakens stronger…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want to like this game. I do. But it dies in a lot of aspects. Its basically the same game weve all played, but does it worse in a lot of ways. Youd probably enjoy your time more if you just up and bought Skyrim or Diablo or something. "Can be explored in any way and whenever you want" Funny then what are these hedgehog walls (which any functional being would have no issue climbing over or around) doing here? They arent any better than the invisible walls the game page says this game doesnt…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well, it works! I backed the game on Kickstarter and have the game since I had an opportunity to play it in closed beta, but to be perfectly honest, I haven't touched the game since :-P The game is in Early Access now and well, it works for me, so that's a very positive start. Here is the proof that the game works for me. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=468041430 That's from the tutorial at the beginning of the game. So far so good. Will update my review as I play it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →EDIT: I've changed my review due to the quickness of response I get from the Dev's when asking for help. (This help was received after posting on the forums requesting it, not because of my negative review as some people think) I think this is justified for 2 reasons: One, because the help players get on the forums is MOSTLY personal dev to player emails. Not a lot of dev's take time like this to help people out. Secondly, I think a few of the comments here may be correct, as the game does…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very challenging and rewarding. I was completely blown away by the complexity of Wave of Darkness. The amount of content is just mind-blowing for a indie title.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Right of the bat some classics like Diablo or Titan Quest come to mind, however, this one is a bit different. Quite hardcore as RPGs go, with elaborate crafting and creating recipes for all sorts of stuff from spells ans potions all the way to weapons, gear and equipment, loads of ingredients as well. The world is more or less open, plenty of lootto go around and stuff to slay, feels oldschool with its own twists, also challenging as well. Hardware specs are not ludicrous so it should run…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →OK so how would I put it. Wave of Darkness is by far greater then its predecessor in every aspect, however it dose continioue the story instead of going for its own thing, to which I, who finished the pervious game, can apriciate. However its new enough so new players can jump right in. SO whats new. Well pretty much everything has been redone and for the better (more features cooming during EA). The new item system from cursses and blessings to bags and atifactas it just is awsome. Magic…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game runs poorly in any machine... The graphics are not the same compared to the screenshots of the store page!!!! A lot of bugs, spell dynamics in this game are horrible and the spellcasting makes your character freezes until the spell is casted, I don't think that was intended so anyway the spell animation is the same no matter what you choose. A lot of items on your inventory that can be crafted but it is necessary so many items that you keep need to hold them until crafting. The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I recommend it if you want to try a new RPG/diablo clone-clone, and are fine with that. Again, its not a diablo clone....its maybe not even a Path'-clone-clone. I don't recommend it if you are looking for a ground breaking experience. You won't, unless this is the first RPG you ever played. All of it...I do mean ALL of it, has been done before. They did put a lot of work into it, so I will enjoy seeing what they did as far as I can take the quest-linear-story, not a fan of the quest clues.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A worthy continiuation of the LoD's story, with alot of updates that where carried over to LoD REBORN. The whole game map is a bit smaller than its predecessor but it counter that with more conntent overall. All in all if you liked the prvious games youll like this one even better.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Personal Rating: 3 of 10 This game is a fine example of what happens when a developer has a huge ambition to create a game but disregard the design and needs from the players point of view; complete disaster. The game started on a tutorial island and already you can see there are actually plenty of features and contents. The rune mechanic is also fresh as unlocking chests require some kind of puzzle. The weapon system goes so deep there are binded cursed weapons already in the tutorial.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I picked this game up thinking it looked like Diablo 3 and it might be fun. The answer to both thoose questions are no, no it isn't.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great RPG game to play and have some fun with. There are still a few bugs in the game but the Developers are not only working hard on fixing them. They are listening to our feedback and improving based on that. I will be posting more as I get into to the game, but come on anyone that loves RPG's. Lets help Iggy and the hard working people at Dreamatrix with this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rating: terrible (3/10) Introduction Wave of Darkness is an isometric action RPG title set in a common phantasy world with elves, undead and magic. Gameplay & Story: 2/10 Absolutely unique story: Waves of monsters suddenly envade the land and people are in desperate search of a hero. You never had such story before yet, right? The gameplay lasted about an hour until I decided to uninstall. You run around almost aimlessly since the quests only provide you local tasks and no big picture.…

Today I am bringing you a review of another new indie RPG, Wave of Darkness! (NOTE: This game was reviewed using a key provided by the Developer) Video Review: https://youtu.be/cRSxVhKYqMQ The "Too Long, Didn't Watch" Review: The graphics in the gameplay and the audio are decent. The gameplay is very familiar for most RPG'ers. Solid title, tons of hours of play, but nothing that REALLY makes it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice game with plenty of hardcore RPG elements. It has an old school feeling to it and a lot of various features. That makes this game challenging compared to most of today's RPGs, but I think that's a good attribute.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Didn't play much, but from what I have seen, Wave of Darkness seems like a huge improvement since Legends of Dawn. There is a lot of to do, to see, to craft and to slay in this game, and the world is massive. Get the game, you wont' regret it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TS, here. I did a few voices for WoD and I played just a bit of this and wanted to write a word or two. I don't play many games anymore like this. Just so involved to do so but the music is really good, the graphics are nice, the interfaces are logical and the little icons up left are nice to get at all the info you want. I'll admit though, this game was kicking my butt so I'll have to figure out some good way to ramp up my weapons/armor/etc before going much farther. You can zoom into a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is pretty. There is no pause. I think those two data points outline the depth of game mechanics. There is a great open world game here, but right now it is too open. While the tutorial has a handy merchant, your first area does not and you fill up with items that most games tell you are useful. But then your bags are completely full and you realize that the only way to clear space is to eat the food which is really the only useful thing that you are gathering. That magic item you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Although I'm not a big fan of RPG games I actually quite enjoyed, and I still am, playing this game on a count of its really versetail game mechanics (espacially creating complex spells) and interesting quests / storyline.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It needs work. But I don't know if in this world the amount of work that would need to be done to make this game ejoyayable is within reasonable parameters. I wanted to like this game, I really did. I wanted to play for at least an hour, but the UI was abrasive, the sound kept cutting itself in and out, the character models are ugly...I couldn't even bring myself to finish 15 minutes before begging Steam for a refund and deleting it from my library. There is maybe what resembles a skeleton…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Update 1.50 is released. More to come soon. Appreciate all the good reviews guys.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty much average RPG from what I can see. Customize and create your own character (feels a bit limited). Explore map and get on quests that require a lot of your time. I would say go for it if you're RPG fanatic but don't expect much.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →went in thinking it was a 30$ game, cant be that bad? i was wrong! the game is trying to be to many things at once and fails at all of them.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm more of a 'maybe' than a whole-hearted recommend, but it's not nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I rather enjoyed my time with the game, but ultimately stopped playing because of the glitches. There's a good game trapped in here. If it was finished properly it could even be a great game. As is, it's interesting with hints of greatness mixed in a bag of random pain. Unlike what others have said, this honestly has very little in common with Diablo, Gothic, or other RPGs.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a terrible ARPG. While it looks fine, that's where the positives end. Theres a ton of confusing different parts about runes, as well as tons of other systems, which the tutorial doesn't explain at all. There's no objective markers, and the map has symbols above things, but they aren't labeled. Guys that it said had quests had nothing to give me. The quest directions are usually pretty terrible and wrong. Tutorial mission had me get a key, which I got, but it didn't work on the door, and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good, old school rpg. A few minor bugs were quickly patched up. I found the game quite enjoyable. The Devs are making updates and improvements frequently. They are paying attention to input from the players so let them know what you think.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was given a Steam Key for Wave of Darkness to Review. Despite this, the following at my honest and frank opinions on a promising indie game. Wave of Darkness fits nicely into a genre that has been neglected some-what since the rise and rise again of the MMO. The likes of Baldur’s Gate and Diablo filled many hours of my gaming youth. This meant that I was somewhat excited to see what Dreamatrix were giving us when I received the key. Hesitantly I installed the game and launched, if I’m honest…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DO NOT BUY ! Brought this game back during 2017 on a big discount. And started to try this game now in 2018. This game has buggy skill and quest. Skill - ( When stun monster with a skill and killed, it will just freeze there for about 10secs before the body drop dead on the floor to pick up loots. ) Quest - ( The map will show numerous "!" meaning there are quest to take, but quite a lot of them can't be taken and even when quest are done completed, it still will have "!" mark shown on map.…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is simply wierd... The container system is pritty crap pritty mutch anything can be a container...and some containers are not containers...like theres some kind of weapon racks that normaly are not containers but in some places they are..and the same with alot of objects and only way to find out is hoovering over evry singel object... Then the number of items you get..you get something like60-70 items in the tutorial and evry enemy drops 3-6 items you have to waste all your cash on…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Definitely not a Diablo style game, whick makes it a great old style, single player, save anywhere RPG. Good work Dreamatrix!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I do not recommend this game. Main reason are technical issues, which made the game unplayable for me.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wave of Darkness is a hack n' slash action RPG similar to the Diablo series. There is lots of loot, enemies, and exploration. You can craft your own spells with the runes you find. There is also a simple harvest and crafting system where you have to find recipes and ingredients. At first, the controls were a little tricky, but after I remapped the keys and sped up the mouse, it became much more manageable. The game gives virtually no guidance after the short tutorial, leaving exploration and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I probably would have had more patience with this game but even on the steam sale it was still pricey and for me just not fun at all. I asked for a refund after only playing it less than an hour. Not saying the game couldn't have potential some day but again the price for what it is and how it plays wasn't worth it to me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice game, the magic system is working very good, crafting the runes together and experimenting with them is fun. The voice acting is AAA :) Exploring is really rewarding, there are little secrets everywhere.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wave of Darkness is an open world ARPG that reminds me a lot of an MMORPG. As others have said, its reminiscent of Diablo 2, Titan Quest, Sacred 2 and Torchlight. It has decent enough graphics, game mechanics seem pretty solid except for the fighting being a little clunky now and then. It runs smooth for me on max settings with little to no frame drop. There are 3 different races to chose from for your character, which can be male or female, along with some other minimal customizations. There's…
