The input tab on the start "screen" claims to have WASD support but trying to press WASD in the game does nothing (arrow keys too). You have to click to tell where you want the character to go. I'd be okay with it if it was click-and-hold to move the character. But this game requires a click for every little bit. According…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shiny the Firefly is not a bad game, but its really really hard for me to recommend PC ports of mobile games unless they are properly optimized, and this is not one of those games.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a fun and addictive little platformer. The graphics are charming and cute, although I wouldn't say it's as good as Pixar (don't know what crack pipe that guy was smoking who said that.) You play as a firefly (duh) who flys around collecting his babies throughout the level and the objective is to get them to the ending unharmed. In order to complete each stage you don't have to save them all, just as many as each stage says you have to, but if you want to earn a medal then you have to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shining a bit dull Rating: Ok Mobile originated game where you have to rescue your fireflybaby's while navigating through a maze. Moderate graphics in a colourful world with decent music. Nothing special. Casual as hell but can be fun if you are in the mood. Not bad, not good.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My 4,5-year son loves this game. First world is ok for him, second is a bit too hard for now. It plays ok with a gamepad for both of us (though maybe touch would be better, as many other said before). Bought it on sale, it's totally worth the money for me. I do recommend it for small kids.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not bad. Clearly a mobile/touchscreen game, and controls on keyboard and mouse suck. Using a controller works, although things like clicking on hint flowers and using the flower to finish the level don't work with it, so you still have to use mouse there, which is a clear mistake, but not a big one. The controller works quite well, except for landing, which is finnicky and unnecessarily hard to do. There is really no story. The levels start to seem somewhat repetitive, as in every single one…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →- looks like a nice "platformer" - needs a touchscreen to have fun with it - played only with mouseclicks - mobile-port without real pc controls
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good and interesting game, but only for smartphones and tablets, definitely not for PC. To control you need only mouse, but must click every time where I need to go, not just one click and follow. Tables at the beginning tell "Touch screen to move" - seriously, developers just couldn`t remove phrases like this one. So developers were too lazy to make normal port. Gameplay: find other fireflies and escort them to safety. Beautiful graphics (for tablet). As for smartphone or tablet game - 8/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I suspect a few people, by now, have wondered why such a self-professed "horror nut" as myself has a few games in his Steam library with names like, well, "Shiny The Firefly", to name but one example. The slightly embarrassing answer - though only VERY slightly (I'm pretty shameless) - is that I also have something of a penchant for "cute" and "child-like" things. Now USUALLY these "child-like" things will also need to be a tad on the spooky and/or violent side - Among the Sleep, Limbo and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice, funny, adventure game! Bring your babies back to nest really easy to play and funny!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got it in a bundle and decided to give it a try. Turns out this is pretty decent little platformer, although I understand the remarks that it can feel like a poorly executed port. If you have a gamepad, the controls are fine though, and while the game isn't extremely challenging, I personally think it's perfect for some casual gaming to unwind after a busy day. Get it on sale!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This looks like a mobile game that was "ported" (really, just released) to desktop platforms. It's a simple sidescroller that looks like it would be good especially for young children. Personally it isn't doing much for me, but if you have young children and want a simple high-quality game for them this one looks like a good choice. More hardcore gaming types aren't likely to find it that entertaining though.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is quite addictive: simple, goodlooking, nice gameplay, sound & music. Works good on Linux.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It sucked. The screen follows your character and it made me kinda dizzy. Controls are sluggish. It is not a very fun experience overall. PS; I've got Super Meat Boy and Spelunky for the same price during steam winter sale. FFS, why is this game even on steam?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't recommend this game for $10, the puzzles are simple, but fun. Ultimately, its controls are made for touch and swipe, it may be a good app, but it feels out of place on a computer without them.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is probably one of the best tablet-to-steam ports I've played thus far (admittedly every other one I've ever played has been infuriatingly bad and/or broken, so the bar is incredibly low) And no it's not a clean port - most of the hints are for a touch screen device and have not been edited out. With a keyboard i was flying blind, but fortunately I had my trusty 360 controller plugged in and i was able to (hit everything until something worked) figure out the controls and I was…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a puzzle game with timing. Though I'm not sure whether puzzle is the right term. I didn't like the controls myself but for in as far as it being a game, yeah it's a game. If you like simple games you should totally get it. http://played.today/shiny_the_firefly.html https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dn6JxgyjT_w
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is point & click game. Probably some mobile port but you can play with controller too. Still, don't waste your time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just no. The controls are terrible, to move you use you need to click, to dash you need double click, to hide you need to click on the wall. What you should do to shoot? Click on "Shiny" and drag in direction to shoot. For ALL actions you use the same mouse button, and you can't change that. Other aspects? Nothing special even in 2014. Just little low budget game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The controls are awful and the hitboxes also are not great. Would not recommend.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cute little platformer. I recommend playing with a controller.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A not so pretty boring game that should probably stick with mobile. I played this on PC and was generally unimpressed and got bored pretty quickly. So did my son watching me play it. The splash screen looks promising as a kid friendly game but when played the low resolution assets sie and the game stops looking so good. The general gameplay loop is about this flying bug that flies around using his shiny end to lead some other bus into exit point avoiding obstacles like water, wasps and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shiny The Firefly is a mediocre mobile app that's been dumped on Steam. Tap on your iPhone screen to make your character progress through 2D levels, avoiding obstacles and collecting coins. At least it doesn't have retro pixel graphics... and sadly that's the only thing going for it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice graphics but, very simple game. For quiet childs.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Terribly buggy, especially when using a controller. It's very nearly unplayable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Silly game with inconvenient control.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I recommend to anybody.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cannot recommend this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →just no....♥♥♥♥♥ mobile game port

unlabelledView post →The Game has low frame rate and terrible controls. Who would ever think that "point and click" is a great idea in a platformer game!? I used to play this in my childhood, bought it and realized that it is not as good as I remembered.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →RANDOM GAME 24/218 Genuinely why
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tags: Platformer Additional Tags: Delete Local Content & Remove from Library TLDR: Xbox360 pad, fluid controls. Tablet input on-screen instructions. Simple and cartoony. Unlikely to really hold attention and provide fun outside of young children. Cartoony art direction works well here and does not suffer too much from resolution. Xbox360 pad works good. Levels are simple enough due to absence of actual platforms and the little abilities of the firefly are neat and each come in handy here and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best game of 2026. Running amazingly with 4k graphics, featuring highly detailed character customisation and great terrain generation. The game's gameplay is awesome, gave me the best 4.3 hours of my life. Before I bought this game, I was a loser. Now I have experienced real gaming.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Didn't liked it, but not because it's bad. I guess it's fun for kids. As for me, not my cup of tea...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a phone game, and ui is ripped from angry birds. Steer clear of this one. If this was on android/iOS only I wouldn't have a problem, but mobile trash is not welcome to pc. We have enough "games" already. This could be popular on kongregate or freeflashgames though.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →'Shiny The Firefly' is a visually enchanting platformer that succeeds through its charming atmosphere and polished, family-friendly gameplay. The game’s primary strength is its stunning, high-definition art style, which brings its garden setting to life with vibrant colors and expressive character animations. Playing as Shiny, players must navigate diverse environmental puzzles and avoid predators to rescue their lost firefly children, a premise that feels both wholesome and engaging. The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shiny The Firefly is a gentle yet surprisingly intense platform-adventure that tells a small but heartfelt story about a parent trying to gather its lost children in a world filled with danger. You step into the glowing body of Shiny, a firefly whose young ones have scattered after a chaotic accident, and each level becomes a small rescue mission through an oversized garden that feels both beautiful and threatening. The premise is simple on the surface, but the emotional underpinning — the act…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly, it would be perfectly fine if it wasn't for the awful controls and the baffling decision to make the baby fireflies destructable. Either one of these being changed would probably make the game alright, but both together in spite of the colourful aesthetic and decent puzzles make this unenjoyable
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Simple fun & beautiful 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Horrible horrible horrible port for PC. The mouse movement is very sluggish, the game often confuses the player and does something else.. Just avoid this poor thing of a game..
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very bad controll
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Enjoyable at first but the never-ending short music loop is really killing it for me. I would have liked it better if there were more music options. Gameplay is simple and fun but not enough to make me keep in my PC.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lovely graphics, good for kids. One problem though, better play with a gamepad instead of a mouse, unless you want to keep getting stuck on a level.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nope. Just... nope.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It so much fun with nice graphic and gameplay. ^^
