This is a "HD" re-release with some graphical advancements and bug fixes in contrast to the original game, but I personally can't witness those fixes since I didn't play the original one. So, what it is about? In short, it's an old-school homage to Elite-style of titles, where you can play in two game modes: Story or…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I picked up this game today and I have to give it a thumbs up. It's a little bit dated but it has a lot going for it. The graphics are very nice on max settings. The atmosphere really nails it. There are things Elite Dangerous could learn from this game. My only complaints so far in my couple hours with it are that I wish it had full HOTAS control and that they would update the bad voice acting. Other than that it seems quite enjoyable much like Evechron Mercenary. A small item they…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played a good 8 hours of this game before I finally put the game down and I've come to the conclusion that it's simply not worth anyone's time. Story - It's honestly not worth your time. But that's not really a big deal. The game offers freeplay mode and it is much prefered. With all the exploration the game gives you, you don't really care to follow the generic naive-hero plot. Another problem the story presents is that the difficulty ramps up immensely. The first mission isn't so bad but I…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Full review here: http://www.thegamesshed.com/spaceforce-rogue-universe-hd/ For some reason It refuses to let me add the whole thing so below are snippets. Spaceforce: Rogue Universe HD is exactly what it seems to be, a HD re-hash of a 2007 twitch space shooter for Windows, it is also far more. As ever with games of this ilk it derives a lot of its gameplay from a rather popular and famous space combat and trading game, namely, Elite. This, in my opinion, is where the game may fall down to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game makes me want to play Freelancer. A game where interface and controls are done right. Where story is amazing. This felt like a bunch of guys got together for a beer one day and decided to make a space shooter. And made all the choices while drunk. It's horrible. There isn't even a simple help/hint/tutorial to explain what GUI objects mean and you need to figure it out. Everything that you'll learn you'll learn the hard way. And story... bleh. Laughable at best. Zero engagement. I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have mixed feeling on this, on the one hand its a nice space fighter sim with some reasonable visuals (they wont blow you away like some of the recent space sims) and fun flight and combat mechanics. It is somewhat hindered by its poor story, voice acting and vagueness of its controls (I'm not the best space sim fanatic, but still the quick tutorial popups will make reference to things like a 'Teleport' key without telling you what key that is without looking into the controls). There is a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A HD re-release of a great but often overlooked Flight SF game. Now if only we would get a sequel of it and I'm a happy guy. Ow and a multiplayer/coop addition would be appreciated.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great little space sim gem and the price is very reasonable, I think to get the most out of this id recommend playing the free mode to get the best experience, It does have a steep learning curve and does not hold your hand, You do have to figure out alot if things for yourself and imo that is one of the joys i love about it, and the devs have posted a guide and facts over on the steam forum which is very helpful and interesting (i highly recommend reading it so you dont get lost out there…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game looks incredible. and that is all i can say about it that is positive. Lets get out of the way I am a real Noob with these types of games. That said; The tutorial is of no use to a newbie like me. It took me a stupid amount of time to figure out how to complete the introductory mission. Then after I figure it out I am still left with questions about how to do the most basic stuff. Like "How do I dock with a station?" Such a prblem may be solved by playing around with it or maybe a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short review: I got this for free... and I still want a refund. Feels clunky, unfinished, heard there was a hoo-haa between dev & publisher. Either way my advice is to avoid. Indepth: I got thie game for free for kickstarting another project by the devs. I'm not sure if it's possible but I'd like to give it back. I would have prefer a thank email instead of this game because this game gave me hope of reliving my days playing Freelancer, Privateer and heck even Solar Winds (if you're old…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a little rough around the edges, but overall it offers many hours of entertainment and exploration for a very small price. Pros: + Decent graphics despite its age. + A lot of freedom. + RPG elements. + Exploration. + Fast space combat. Cons: - No real tutorial. - Some things have no explanation. - GUI is a bit basic. - Voice acting isn't very good. - Story is somewhat mediocre. Overall, I'd recommend Spaceforce Rogue Universe if you are into games like Elite and want to scratch…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have the old version of this game that isn't sold on steam anymore, but I wanted to buy this again to give the devs money and get the additional fixes. It's an older space sim, but it's really entertaining and it has lots of places to explore. It takes some time to learn to play, basically you just have to check all the controls the game has and eventually it all "clicks." Whenever theres something new you can do, the ship computer will tell you briefly what anything means, so make sure you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A good Space game, reminds me of a X3, but a lighter version, not played the original so cannot compare if it's HD or not. Controls work, runs well. If you like space sims, without too much clunky redsource management give it a shot. It's pretty good to see ships pulling off 180's turns to face you in combat while maintaining their forward momentum, instead of banking and turning like they're fighter jets. The combat for me is very very satisfying. You have several starting classes My only…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There's something about open-world space simulators that is inherently appealing to me. That's why I think I was more forgiving of Spaceforce Rogue Universe HD from Dreamatrix Game Studios despite having a number of issues with it when it came to stability and execution. The game itself may be showing its age, but the transformation to HD has helped considerably. While the cut-scenes look dated and pixelated, the in flight models are attractive, and the backgrounds are just filled with…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is total piece of garbage. You start the campaign without everything, even without weapons, but you are hunted by pirates and you can't defend yourself. When everyone else (the AI controlled ships) saved your ass you find out that you must fly to another star system to fight another pirates by yourself, without weapons. It is impossible to dock to any station or trade with any trade ship, so you have no chance to purchase and mount some weapons. And what is totally irritating is your…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After really enjoying Darkstar One, I thought this game would be similar. I had high hopes and was excited about booting it up. Unfortunately, four hours into playing, I find myself spending more time and focus on which button I'm supposed to be pressing (constantly exiting out of the game to check the controls in the options) and figuring out what I'm supposed to be doing. With a brief, useless tutorial, dogfights that feel more like a grind than a pleasure, possibly the worst voice acting…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →IT's kinda like a half-assed, drunk freelancer. No tutorial that actually helps anything, voice acting makes 80s cheesy cartoons sound amazing, and frankly, it just isn't what I had hoped it would be. Sure, the new HD package looks interesting, if you like to feel like you are inebriated to the point where you cannot see without everything being blurry and smudgy. The HD repack was like they tried too hard to modernize it with too much bloom. Freelancer, by contrast, has had far more…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →im sorry but i really tried to like this game but you dont even start out w/ weapons and on your 2nd mission you need weps to do it and dont even earn enough on mission 1 to buy any .plus navigation to specific spots is freakin hard .had potential but fell way short
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →8/10 With improvements, Spaceforce Rogue Universe could be one of the best space simulators. For about 10 €, you will get the following features: - excellent combat mechanics (space battles in this game are really satysfing) - challenging AI (if you're not careful, you will die) - a good diplomacy system involving different races (10 civilizations) - a good trading system (you can trade over 50 goods, included narcotics) - scientific, headhunting, escort and other special quests - you can…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First, ignore the playtime Steam says I have... everything past the first half-hour or so, I was just getting cards. So, flying in space is pretty enough, although mouse-based primary controls are a bit odd for a cockpit-view game... but your first taste of that flight being after a story introduction that I can only call inept, followed by several screens in lieu of a tutorial telling you that keys exist for various ship funcitons (without telling you what those keys are), followed by being…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In a nutshell: not bad, but a bit empty. Pick it up on sale if you feel like it. Advice: In the main menu, go to profiles and create a new one. The default is bugged on story (at least for me). Also there's a steam community guide to begin with, as the ingame tutorial is just a mass of text: https://steamcommunity.com/app/372480/discussions/0/615085406660656908/ Overall, I enjoy playing the game in the sandbox mode. It can give a few hours of entertainment. Edit: It would do well if it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played this back in the day on my dads computer and saw it pop up on steam, so i got it, for me its worth the nostalgia value, and a decent game given when it was released, enjoyable despite some flaws, like no proper tutorial, or starting with no weapons, hard to figure out controls etc..
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Aside from the unbelievably bad writing this game has little going for it. The controls are incredibly clumsy, using almost the entire keyboard with no in-game direction. Moving around is confusing and seems very slow and tedious. Docking at a station just takes too long for a game too. The game simply lacks a decent UI that helps you to get to your quest location quickly and this is a mortal sin in a space combat sim. X3TC is just better in every way. I would even recommend Rebel Galaxy over…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is no newsbreak. Space Force Rogue Universe is the king of indie space sims. And refreshing it in HD is well expected from devoted team, and expected for a legendary titles nowadays. Just immerse a little bit and you'll be rewarded. I ain't gotta time here :) must go finish some trade routes and a few annoying pirates :) Enjoy!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First sorry for my bad english. I get this Game for free (Thanks again). The Game has interesting game mechanics, graphics are nice to watch. If you like open world space- RPG / simulation games, then this game is for you. I will not (yet) gave this game a final rating, but for what i have see in the 2 hours of playing, is very nice.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ok this game looks a little dated, not the graphics, they're pretty nice, but the HUD, the interface and the lack of contextual menu is a shame too. BUT keep in mind that this game is from 2007 and so far it is still good. It' not half a game, the campaign is nice and chasing pirates is great too. It's not an X² game, but if you like space action game and can deal with not up to date interfaces, go for it, it's a cool game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game sucks!!, there is no standard game pad controlls, this game is manly for keyboard / mouse and old fassion joystick, you have no ability to defend your self as your weapons are disabled, lots of realy nice graphics but that is all the game offers, a lot more work is need on the game interface for this game to be playable as is stands you can't do much but die , i would not recomend this game to any one untill these serious issues are sorted
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It still plays great and without any issues, but not many will go for it today. Gameplay doesn’t feel old-school and keeps it simple. That’s fortunate because tutorial is just a bunch of messages that doesn’t teach you anything. Most actions, such as aiming and firing, can be done using a mouse, while more complex actions require a keyboard. You may regulate your speed using the scroll button or by matching the speed of your target. There is also a temporary boost for swiftly going somewhere…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An old classic space sim, not for everyone but for adventurer who dare go to space.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Space Trading/combat/mining/upgrading aplenty. seriously overlooked, grafixs bit dated but eminanly playable, joystick or keyboard and mouse both have good control, get the HD version, definately worth the small price you have to pay.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Spaceforce Rogue Universe HD, developed and published by Dreamatrix, is one of those hidden space simulators that aimed far beyond the expectations of its time. Built as an open-world science-fiction adventure, the game combines elements of space combat, trading, exploration, and role-playing into a single package. Although its original release dates back to an earlier era of PC gaming, the HD version gives it a second life by improving visual fidelity while preserving the ambitious foundation…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had this in my late teens, great little sim atmosphere is top notch and the music is awesome.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Welp, Frozen state is fun, but def a Let's Play, not a stream game. Spaceforce Rogue Universe HD needs more work to be functional. Hell Is Others is always fun to play. thanks all who came out, special thanks to JakeFrostChill @kirareaper & MikkiDanavi for the bits & raid. Have a safe week all!

Started the game in the "activate five satellites" mission, but one problem: the ship I spawned in had no equipment, no weapons, no missles, no energy cells, nothing. Only managed to beat the first mission by colliding with the pirates. Was left thinking, okay maybe now they'll give me some weapons. Nope. Got sent on a second mission to destroy pirates...with no weapons. I have a pretty low bar as far as giving games a fighting chance. This…
