Undying is hobbled by a series of strange design decisions and awful fetch quests: (1) Survive is the goal in a sense, but really this is a story-based game with multiple endings and critical information to get there (like visiting the RV Camp over and over again to progress that location) isn't a tracked quest. I had no idea what to do most of the time except to visit the same places over and over. The game will happily track completing useless carnival rides though. WHY? (2) One…

Really tried hard to like this game. Great art style, cool story. But the constant time pressure ruined it for me (if never having enough time for anything is your cup of tea, feel free to ignore this post). I even tried the easy mode, which slows time by approximately 30%. But then I was drowning in ressources and zombies's died like flies - there just wasn't any challenge left. And I still felt that nasty ticking clock. So if you are like me and play to counter the stress in your real life,…

This is a "Yes, But..." review. [h3 ]Positives: - It is a great survival game. The progression and RPG elements being on your son instead of yourself is quite a cool mechanic. - The travel and exploration is great. - Lots of great little discovory mechanics that I don't want to spoil. Negatives: - The game's autosave feature overrides previous saves. I just lost 6x hours of gameplay because the game autosaved while my son was dying and there was no way for me to save him. This game…

First of all I just wanted to say that I have played this game before full release and after. Before the full release update; I loved this game, I loved the story, I loved the Idea behind it. However after release I managed to reach the point where the game starts breaking apart mid-game. Dialogues will be repeated over and over again, until the next prompt in the dialogue comes which will also be repeated over and over again, leaving you stranded in this circle of hell for several minutes.…

I'm torn about this one because I REALLY want to love this game. I want it so much. It has tons of things I like: interesting story, exploration, advancement. But even on Tranquil (easy) mode, you spend whole days just cutting down trees or crafting stuff that doesn't really do anything for you. Of course, there's always some resource in short supply, so you end up spending a lot of time just running back and forth. And then, your crowbar or your kid's slingshot hits 20 zombies and oops…

I want to like this game. The art style and premise are so lovely and incredibly powerful. But survival feels more like a chore rather than adventurous and thrilling. Combat is TERRIBLE and is the weakest part of the game. The amount of damage I've taken and should-be stuns and what not.. Stealth feels clunky as infected will see to glare right at you but you could sneak on by.. But you have to reveal yourself to get loot? Which usually ends in combat, which is horrendous. The sections of…

i would recommend this game but only to certain people with a lot of warnings beforehand. i would like to preface this by saying that i love this game a lot! if i didn't i wouldn't have bought this for myself and a friend. this game has a lot of potential and what it does get right it does really well, and i can tell that a lot of thought and care was put into most of the game. like Cody, i know that this might be a unpopular opinion but i don't think they could've pulled off the escorting…

Undying : By Triple F "Undying" by Vanimals is a heart-wrenching survival game that combines resource management and emotional storytelling, set against the backdrop of a zombie apocalypse. Rather than focusing on typical survival mechanics alone, "Undying" takes a unique approach by centering its story around Anling, a mother who has been infected with the zombie virus, and her young son, Cody. As Anling slowly succumbs to her infection, the game’s primary goal shifts from mere survival to…

First- I like this game. I could play it endlessly. BUT. It's a broken mess. There is no way to report bugs, because that feature is broken too. It makes me sad that the developers are letting Undying ROT on the vine. You have this separate Kingdom Mode, when really all you needed to do was enable Kingdom mode on beating Story mode. Some features present in Kingdom mode are annoying as hell. Water feels broken, because despite lakes and rivers and springs, nothing gives you water. Once…

its a decent idea, but they structured it all wrong. a video game where you are a mother in a zombie apocalypse who got bitten and is spending her last moments looking after and preparing her son to go on without her COULD be a really good idea for a story driven game, like a choices matter telltale game or something like that. unfortunately though, its just a regular zombie survival game with almost no story whatsoever. what a waste of potential. the game has its fair share of issues, like how…

This game has so much promise and does not deliver. I feel this is common for Chinese games. The art style is great. The premise is intriguing. The first 2 hours of gameplay has this on full display, and this it just grinds to a halt. If this was early access I could excuse the poor translation. I could excuse the grind due to mechanics that are not balanced, but the game is pretty much abandoned now. Get it. Play the first 2 hours, and then use the steam refund. It's not worth it past that.

unfortunately, this is just linear chinese slop with no real interesting narrative. the gameplay isnt terrible but also nothing groundbreaking at all. I came for an emotional narrative and story but it just turned out to be a sub-par gameplay filled time sink.

So, I really really wanted to like this game. But I can't. It has a good concept but the execution is terrible. Water is scarce, have no idea how to make the kid, Cody, to increase/learn new skills. Things get worse with moms health, but for Fs sake, its ramp up is ridiculous. I have restarted my game a few times thinking the reason the rain does not come is a bug, but its not. It gets more and more grindy and tedious. UNDYING is currently quite an unenjoyable title, despite the departure from Early Access. From someone who is into challenging games and likes most other difficult/hardcore survival titles, here are a few glaring issues that made me want to quit playing UNDYING: - difficulty modes feel very unbalanced. the main balance of difficulty is between the passage of time per day, and the health/damage of zombies and NPCs. Essentially, easy mode gives an appropriate amount of time to visit a location…

The time flies too fast and the more I try to be a good mother to Cody the more I feel like I am punished for it. I wanted to enjoy a fun, story rich, survival game but there is just way too much to manage for me to have a good time.

It gave me aggravating memories of playing Ico but this is a decent game. The narrative is emotional and engaging, the main issue here is a tonal mismatch between the emotional narrative and the traditional grind of a survival/crafting game. If you prepare yourself for slow incremental progress then there is a solid survival sim here, just not quite what I was hoping for given the fascinating setup.

I saw a let's player begin this game and was instantly intrigued by it, so I got it and played when I had a few days off work. The things I enjoyed: -The crafting and bartering systems are fantastic. It encourages exploration (especially through the unsafe zones once you've explored the story locations). I liked that some locations have specific machinery to use fewer resources to make certain things, for the trade off of some time and gas. It does sometimes feel like some of the late…

I really wanted to like this game, but unfortunately it's kind of boring. I really like the idea of choosing to teach skills to your child. It seems different from the usual type of RPG progression. However, when played out, you are really experiencing the same old RPG mechanics with more stopgaps. Leveling, crafting, upgrading - all of that feels less fun, more tedious than the usual RPGs. The story starts off grim and intriguing, but it quickly devolves into a pretty blank slate of generic…

Pros: - The game excels in storytelling, providing a poignant and heart-wrenching narrative of a mother in a zombie apocalypse, trying to teach her son survival skills before she turns. I must say I'm pretty disappointed overall. I played the game on chill-mode and it was constantly stressful. The resources needed to maintain weapons eat up most of what you're able to gather, which means advancing your technologies at home goes super slow. The days aren't long enough to explore and gather enough - the small inventory makes it even harder. The break-in bugs don't help - you fix a window, go upstairs to check something, go back down and the window is broken again, which in turn…

This game is just pure bulls**t. I love hard games or game modes but this is just under cooked garbage. The premise is really good but the gameplay part becomes not a challenge that you want to overcome but a chore that you have to deal with..... I like the idea of teaching the kid skills and being able to rely on him later, but can't say there's anything else memorable here. I really wish I could write a positive review game has this different perspective on zombi game, and I like new things but after almost 39 hours of playing I can't recommend the game. Why? Well first thing is poor balancing if you play on normal or hard difficulty you are in for bad time its insane how much zombies get stronger in the mid/late game another thing is that the game is too long there is a too little meaningful story and too much filler nonsense

This is a really unique game and I enjoy the style although it is SO TEDIOUS. I spend all my time just scavenging for supplies but killing the zombies breaks my weapons SO fast and repairing them uses so much of the items I scavenged for. leveling up the workbenches takes a ridiculous amount of supplies as well. I don´t think I will be finishing this game but since it´s so well made and it has cool mechanics then I think some people might like it.

The base building aspect was really nice, but it becomes a bit more clear that it's meant for a 2nd playthrough for you to be able to max out everything. Which leads me to difficulty. He is so stupid always shoving his face into the fight first, rather that staying back Also the auto-save is garbage, you might not make it home in time and have to restart the whole day, that's if you're lucky and do manual saves every day. Really wanted to like this game, but the writing and the characters and the story was just bland It made it hard to care about why you were doing the things you had to do, everytime I played it it felt like I was just doing "progress for progress' sake" The game was competent besides that, it played well
