What people are saying

A fun, strategic roguelike take on Triple Triad, but some find it complex or bland.

Many players praise Tetra Tactics for its deep strategy and addictive gameplay, comparing it favorably to Slay the Spire and Triple Triad. They enjoy the simple rules that lead to complex play, with one noting it "invites players to experiment." [3][12]

However, some criticize the game for being overly complex or having a bland visual design. One player found the core gameplay just a very uninspired puzzle game, while another called the graphics "an eyesore." [32][35]

I wanted to like this game---I've played a majority of well-known, and some not so known, rogue-like "deckbuilder" games. The mental capacity required to make the best move is...high...which is normally a good thing. In this game you can see both yours and your opponent's decks. To calculate the best possible move, you have to really understand the chains of causality in this game. I...simply don't want to spend that much time thinking about this game. I don't feel like the game is good…

Really fun take on Triple Triad's basic gameplay, with a lot of new and novel strategic elements, making this a game in its own class. Lots of opportunity for interesting combos and tons of fun to figure out strategies to bait the opponent into setting up combos for you >:) Can get really tricky keeping track of all the cards and abilities, which makes for a fun challenge. I really like the bow character myself. The combos I have gotten feel really satisfying when they work out as I planned.…

I enjoyed it for the first hour. In the end though - it's a 4*4 grid where you and computer opponent take turns each putting down 7 cards. The map is quite good, and upgrade options had variety (shop of new cards / one combat potion effects / card upgrades) then you could evolve cards with special powers and use hero powers a times in combat on cards. Also artefacts during the run and meta upgrades. I didn't get around to the meta upgrades though - because after sweeping through two maps…

Inspired by a classic Final Fantasy minigame, Tetra Tactics involves placing cards on a 4x4 grid, where they attack any adjacent enemy cards. The larger number wins; there are also symbols with special powers — magic always wins when attacking and always loses when defending; shield blocks all attacks, and so on. Defeat an enemy card and it flips and becomes yours — available for the enemy to flip back on the next turn. The winner is the player with more cards when the board is full. Very few…

Card battler roguelike with deck building and strategic puzzle elements, inspired by the Final Fantasy VIII minigame Triple Triad. Gameplay: https://youtu.be/ytu1GfsCWSY You move around the map and fight monsters. In each battle, you need to place your cards on the field and capture enemy cards. To win, it is necessary that by the end of the battle there are more of your cards on the field than the enemy’s cards. You can use hero skills and items to change the properties of cards and the…

Once I got the hang of the gameplay I found myself wanting to play "one more match" over and over. From the simple ruleset, deeper strategies start to emerge, and since losses aren't huge setbacks, the game invites players to experiment. On the overworld map I found myself having to balance between using gold to upgrade my cards and saving it for future vendors I might encounter, and I love the idea of strengthening my cards over the course of a run. Looking forward to seeing this game…

User interface is unhelpful. Card interaction is unintuitive. There is no capability to help plan potential card interactions such as highlighting cards that the card you play will interact with, forcing the player to rely entirely on memory for every card interaction. The saving grace there is that if you have a really good memory, you'll likely excel at this game. Overall not a great successor to Triple Triad.

You could say "Slay the Spire mixed with Triple Triad," but I feel like that would be underestimating the game here. It has similarities with those two, but the ability to upgrade cards for the run, temp upgrades like potions, character abilities and stuff like that really makes for an easy to learn, hard to master game. It's still in early access but what we've got right now is a very good foundation for some features that would really make this special. For example, multiplayer, drafting,…

Awesome remix of the Triple Triad! I do appreciate the new mechanics, and the method by which the game teaches you have to play with them. The rogue-lite nature does offer some agency/investment in your choicemaking, but ultimately playing against AI feels a little hollow. I'm looking forward to the PVP + drafting mechanics!

this game is actually great for only $5, I wasn't expecting this game to have as much detail & content then it did which impressed me. I was also expecting this game to be super easy but found it challenging at different moments which I really liked & had to be very strategic. Definitely recommend trying! There are a lot of characters that you can try out.

For the $5 price point, Card Craft is a solid game. The mechanics are simple enough to learn but difficult to master which lends well to the strategy aspect of the game. Pretty easy to pick up and play and get sucked into it for a few hours. I do wish there was a PvP mode though outside of the campaign just so you're not fighting bots the entire time, but otherwise its been a blast. If you're a fan of strategy card games in general, you should check this out.

I have played previous versions. This is a quick, fun game, full of strategy and tact. Very simple capture mechanics become really intriguing when you add a grid, hero powers, and upgrades. You can immerse yourself in a quick session to relieve some stress and have fun or delve deep into the rogue-like adventure and spend hours configuring and upgrading cards and unlocking new heroes. Each play-through is original, fresh, and fun for the whole family.

This is the Final Fantasy collector card game but taken to new levels in a good way. Special powers, potions, and symbols really add a lot of new strategy and game dynamics. Mix in some roguelike elements similar to Slay the Spire maps and relics, and different bosses and opponents and you got quite the gem here. Exceptionally cool idea, and exceotionally bad implementation. Would give it 10/10 for a game jam, but 3/10 for a full game. Also - the art is very werid... It's not bad, but it doesn't match each other at all. E.g. - characters are not bad, but they become ugly when put on those cards background (and background are also ok before characters are put on them). Could be a gem, but the way it is - a very underdeveloped game.

This my review so far for Tetra Tactics. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4tasDGKFeDM What's not said there: They really try to be innovative with card mechanic and roguelike element. Although after you finish a couple of run and end your campaign, it could be empty. The more challenge you got should reward something else besides the curse. Although you can forge your card, it's kinda underwhelming when you going for your 5 or maybe 6 run after you succeed completing all the stages. above all,…

I honestly didn't know what to expect going in. And when I started, I thought the game was fairly simple and easy - but that is what all games should feel like at first, isn't it? After feeling pretty invincible for a bit, I found my hubris was misplaced, and I quickly lost. Ain't a damn thing changed, protect ya neck. Coming back 2 hours later to say that I didn't expect to be this enthralled. As a major fan of roguelikes and sticky progression based systems I love this.

I think right now the game throws too much choice at you right away. Huge map with variety of paths to take, you wind up in "potion stores" where there are 9 different options for potions with similar effects (numerical buffs) that are just not all that interesting or imaginative (just stat changes). So it's hard to get excited and I just felt inundated with options that didn't feel particularly exciting. What I normally love in these card game deck builders is new ingredients that "shake…

Tetra Tactics is a creative fusion of tactical card battles and roguelite progression, developed by Jabari Alii, Adrian Marple, and manadream, and published by indie.io. Drawing inspiration from classic grid-based card games, it expands those familiar mechanics into a much larger standalone experience centered on strategic planning, deck customization, and repeatable adventures. Instead of relying solely on the luck of card draws, the game places heavy emphasis on positioning, timing, and…

Easy to understand on a baseline, but as soon as you realize how many options you have, decision paralysis quickly can overtake you. My suggestion? Don't look for optimal play, look for plays that will improve your position. Also try to do this using your worse cards first, so you have your good…

I wanted to like this because it's the closest thing to Triple Triad I've seen on steam, but I honestly couldn't find any enjoyment playing it. I probably could have given it more time to see if it would grow on me. There might be too much going on with the upgrades, and the different rules, the symbols that really don't matter ultimately? I played nearly every roguelike deckbuilder there is. Skipped this one multiple times because it looked weird to me, now gave it a shot and it's actually pretty good! You have no randomness from deck draws, since your 8 cards are always in hand from the start. Triple Triad meets Slay the Spire/Monster Train. I've yet to find a game that takes inspiration from triple triad and not completely over complicate the game. Not only does Tetra Tactics not fall into this hole, it allows a huge amount of player expression by using the different hero abilities and relics (like STS) to make you think outside of the box for every turn. Not the best but after learning clicking the track pad is a bad idea, I got the mechanics down easily. The game be as easy or as challenging as you want. After clearing the game once. Fun take on the genre. Symbol cards are interesting and make the game unique while being easy to understand. Really enjoyed it so far. The Triple Triad style gameplay is well implemented in a rougelike format. As someone who isn't regularly a card game player, I can say that this game can serve as a gateway into card strategy for newcomers while also being complex enough to not make veterans bored. The rock, paper, scissors nature of the game makes the rules much more easy to understand, and for the most part each of these cards have a counter.
