46 of 46 · most liked firstI am honestly extremely disappointed with this game. I waited years for this release. I even had it saved in my Google Calendar with a reminder because I was so excited for it. The original 1998 Corsairs game was legendary for its time, and I expected this new version to capture at least some of that magic. Instead, after only playing the tutorials, I already knew I didn’t even want to continue into the campaign. Here are my biggest problems with the game: * The game is WAY too fast-paced.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to love this game, as I played the first version a lot when I was young. But sadly this is not even as good as the old version. I don't understand why people make games and don't even understand basics of a rewarding game loop. They copied almost all the original game, and every single thing they changed makes the game less fun, amazing... A GAME HAS TO BE FUN
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You can play Denmark, positive review, I am completly biased and I don't care. Good game! I kid, this game is terrible, The AI is really horrible, if you want to win the game fast just snipe the enemy flagship. The other AI players either kill themselves, and I can only imagine it's the pirates that murders them within 15 min. other than that I hired spies to see the last remaining enemy faction, and they were just stading still in port with all their ships. I was playing on a higer difficulty…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved the first Corsairs, and after two hours playing this one, I was not even sure I had fun. First, it's fast, too fast. And I'm the kind of guy that forces himself playing slower because I'm usually rushing too much in other games. I often tried to press space to pause because too much was happening. If you have 4 ships and engage 2 enemies, they'll move as they are jet-skis, move almost non stop around them, shooting their guns like they are machine guns. If you do "massive" battles,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It took me only 34 minutes to understand the current state of the game, and around 10 of those minutes were spent trying to work around a broken boarding sequence that got stuck and never ended. The game feels unfinished and stripped down. It is missing core functionality that made old Patrician 3 enjoyable: proper trading, merchant routes, meaningful economy, and deeper naval gameplay. Even compared to Patrician 3, a trading game released on March 15, 2002, this feels extremely limited. That…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was a big fan of the original game. They took the things that were interesting and fun about that one and "fixed" them...wind direction and the way cannons work are core to age of sail games. In this game, basically a mobile game, wind doesn't do anything to how fast your ships move or change it's maneuverability. The ships are like airplanes, zooming around and firing machine-gun cannons. If all they did was modernize the graphics and UI, and added multiplayer, it would have been head and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dont buy it. It sucks. Its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing how devs like these exist. Repeat the old game with better graphics = slam dunk. But nah, lets try to innovate with our ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ideas... Why in the world couldnt you just take inspiration and not change stupid things. The ships are like speed boats, the naval battles are joke and Im not even gonna start on the boarding... Wtf were you guys thinking?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First off: I haven’t played the original *Corsair* from 1999, so my opinions are free from nostalgia I’ve played through the character campaigns and found a few oddities that I’d like to list below: - The campaigns are the same for all characters: there’s a mission where you have to escort, one where you have to capture ships, one where you have to recruit spies, and a handful of sink-or-conquer missions. That might be acceptable, but the game focuses mainly on the area between Port Royale…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Has major game breaking bugs that prevents you from progressing. Unable to capture towns therefore unable to progress campaign.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Who is this game for even? Old Crosairs was good, interesting, this is just so bad. You'r forced to go into and controll the melee engagements, because otherwise they preform super bad and takes really long, when you enter to control they feel super clunky and meanwhile the rest of the world speeds along at Mach 10, troops move like in syrup, but ships are insane fast, SLOW the ships down to like 1/3, and make the boarding troops twice as fast, but not neccerly faster to die, maybe slower,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Waited for this game for a long time. Now disappointed. Looks decent, but the gameplay is too fast, too chaotic, you have no control over anything. NPCs behave weirdly, may attack you out of nowhere and in several seconds your 10-ship fleet is gone, including your main character. The original game has been perfectly balanced, this game needs way more time to hit this spot.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I hoped for a game with the same vibe as the original 1999 Corsairs, instead this game is way too fast-paced, which kills the charm completely. Instead of a naval battle it just looks like flies whizzing around each other. Same with boarding battles. Much better to go with playing the original on GoG, as this one only resembles the original by superficial visual elements
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This does not capture the spirit of the original. It is not fun, the pacing is very bad. The trade system is tedious. The missions are ruined by sudden "Oh, you are about to get attacked!" giant enemy stacks spawning from nowhere right next to the place you are supposed to defend while you are across the map. Everything is too expensive and resources are not balanced at all. The boarding system is terrible, your units sit around uselessly, plus the cursor very rarely lets you attack the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is garbage......not even worth the $11.99. I already requested a refund. Don't waste your time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After 23 min i see fast this is way to simple of a game.. Tiny tiny ship messy battles shooting pixels at eachother.. Played older topview pirate games before and they way better. No thanks, asking for refund
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game catches the gameplay of the original. Definitely nailed the nostalgia. While the game needs a little bit more work in UI/UX department (mostly better explanations and visual indicators): - it's not clear what level are buldings. - clicking on a port doesn't change the currently selected port in the dialog. - moving inventory is tedious. - boarding needs a better indication when it's possible. The game is fast and one needs to decide on boarding quickly. It would be also nice to select…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Think i need a mobile phone to play this because its rubbish on my pc,
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to play a very good pirate game. Unfortunately, this is nowhere near being anything except a proof of concept. The AI is very bad, with the enemy ships behaving like insects of scared flies rather than naval vessels. The game elements that are supposed to make the game just aren't there. You cannot make trade routes for your ships to traverse. Its all point and click so you end up making a fleet of ships both commerce and war vessels, then have them traverse the sea and still fall…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was hoping on something very similar to the original with some tweaks. Unfortunetely, it plays nothing like the original. It even made me put in the effort to make the original work under W11. I hope changes will be made to make it more closely resemble the original gameplay. I will gladly give it a try again.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Giving the game a cautious recommendation because for me, the game works fine, it's pretty and i am having fun when it's not frustrating me. I enjoy the 1700's Caribbean setting and I'm getting 10 or so hours out of the campaign and for the price of the game i think it was worth it for me personally. I do understand some of the negative reviews. I didn't play the 1999 version so i don't have any reference to this besides it being an RTS game. The AI does seem to shut down the longer time you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →not sure weather to give a recommendation because the name corsairs gold held some fond memories as a child. and this is NOT a remake. that being said, i enjoy this game, its working well, i suppose the only issue with this game is the title is misleading
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ahoy ! i have now 5,5h on the launch day (and many more to come !), thanks to the devs for their incredible work ! EDIT: june patch lowered speed of the game globally and made most things more tanky to be able to have time to fight and appreciate the game ! no longer ships fire continuously ! now its by waves like the old title ! REALLY BETTER ! SIDE NOTE: - i wont describe everything but i will give as much infos as i can so you get a global view of that little treasure - any fan of the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wanted to love this game, didn't take me an hour to confirm my suspicions. - Boarding is bugged / slow What you should do : allow us to actually place our troop before the beginning of the battle ; make it more immersive / dynamic - good voice acting is not consistent ; ex : doctor in french campaign has a bad quality sound - Needs more scenarios for skirmish ; games modes ; factions ; units - Unit design is quite bad ; ships bows are really strange... cartoon style is fine, but stick to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hello, I am a huge fan of the first version and was looking forward to this new release with high expectations. However, after experiencing it, I must honestly say that I am quite disappointed. Here are my specific reasons: 1. AI Fleet Behavior and Trade Mechanics In the first version, the AI utilized all types of national ships for trading. In this version, however, only merchant ships are used for trade, while warships are strictly restricted to guarding Trading Posts. The Issue: This…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really just wasn't fun. Super shallow (even though the promotional material seems to indicate some kind of economic/political strategy, it just wasn't there). The RTS-like mechanics were extremely simple, but the controls were often unresponsive. The tutorial was full of glitches. Glad I returned it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As it is this is a marvelous game. But I won't recommend it until they fix the bug that keeps making some pirates invincible.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Soo the new game. It is almost full copy of the original Corsairs. The gameplay is identical but... The point of view makes different ships look the same . Economy is simple, not worse, nor better than the classic, you need it only to upgrade ports and build ships, like in the old game. The gameplay is the same. Things that need to be fixed/tweaked is the racing speed of the ships .Those menus and health / info bars over the ships and ports look like economy charting simulator, nothing is…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like this game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Massive thank you to the developers for picking up this remake. Loved the original. Sure has some teething problems, but to give a 1999 game attention is brilliant. The only things they really needed to address were clunky transfers of goods between ships, and the AI of troops. Reviewers who haven’t played the original will never get it, but give me this, Red Alert, Settlers 2, Civ 2, StarCraft, AoE, Total Annihilation, any day over over complicated newer games like Stellaris. Please do…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Extremely simple RTS with a Pirate Skin, you dont have many Options. There is no real Naval Combat, you just click the Enemy and hope you are stronger. Trading only works with the Merchant Faction, other Nations are just fluff to conquer, at least i didnt see any diplomacy option before my Refund.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just a grey screen with no menu or sound for me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →aw... there has been so many good games in this genre.. this is not one of them.. very speedy..
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →good idea. good game but few things let it down 1. constantly doing trade runs manually. it isn't bad but once you get 2 extra ports your gameplay is just click trade and sell. needs to be auto mated in some parts. e.g. level 3 economy allows to assign a ship to run rss to another port that way we only have to manage from 1 port 2. skirmish mode is lack luster. try to sit in and enjoy self made skirmish campaign play for 30 minutes. all modes iv won by sinking 1 ship. that was my whole…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like the old Corsair game, you'll love this one too! It's a great game! I recommend it to anyone who enjoys this genre!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is cool but the campaign is way too short. Original Corsairs had missions in Africa, Indonesia and Australia. While this game sadly focuses only on the Caribbean
On…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →tutorial had more bugs than the amazon rainforest and game crashed out a couple of times. tried again next day and set to easiest campaign for england. trading away and started thinking 'so there IS a positive side then'. 2 minutes later my fleet of 4 got attacked by a lesser pirate ship that almost got floored straight away...but then boarded my 3 fighters at the same time while my fourth, my boarding ship was not able to either join OR blow the remaining bit of health from the pirate ship.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →extremely disappointed. The game feels like a demo where even the micromanagement of battle is worse that the original of the 2000's.

After I managed to fix the game issue I finally started the game but now this game needs a lot of polishing slower ship moving etc... game is just too fast no point of wind every faction should have their own ships.
