It's fine, as long as you derive sexual pleasure from being stun-locked and then dying. A typical playthrough involves you collecting various weapons and armour with mostly useless and invisible stats, delving deeper into the dungeon, then getting stun-locked and dying. Recognizing enemies and avoiding their attacks is generally easy, and difficulty is mostly built around not being able to recognize enemies off-screen, engaging the enemies you can see, and then getting stun-locked and dying…

I can't seem to get enough of this game. Just when I think I'm really getting somewhere, and I'm loaded up with tons of great gear I've collected, I end up dying in some ridiculous fashion. The good thing is that it's not that hard to get back to where you were. Once you start gettng used to the controls, and the behavior of enemy AI, you can get through the levels faster. The cute pixelated graphics, combined with gory deaths and silly dialogue gives this game a certain charm. Highly…

[Steam Keys Giveaway] Please turn my poor financial decision into your holiday fun!. I bought another Fanatical mystery pack when I was there getting Wildermyth. >_> This was actually not a terrible pack for $4 and change, though it was all cheap indie titles. For anyone curious about the pulls, I kept The Crackpet Show (splashes of Happy Tree Friends and Enter the Gungeon) and Tallowmere (a low-budget, goofy but somehow intriguing roguelike side-scroller). The other ones don't seem like my…

Wow! I think I'm in love with this game—even though I stink at it. And I love it primarily because of the gameplay. This game is a platformer. Modern platformers sometimes frustrate me to the point of tears. For some reason I don't mind here, despite the challenge. This game is a roguelike. Sometimes, your starting gear and level just royally screw you over. But unlike many roguelikes, sometimes the game's RNG's are profoundly generous and you can sail right through. But instead of feeling…

This is the reason you buy random games on steam. You buy them because you're looking for something like this. I can't really say enough good things about this game. I've had it for a while now and I always come back to it, sometimes for a few minutes before or after work, or if I get a good run going it can easily turn into a couple hours. Basically you kill enemies in randomly generated dungeon levels, find the key to the exit, proceed to the next level. The farther you go, the stronger and…

I like that there are no restrictions - a true sandbox where you can be OP but so can enemies. However, every level is the same (aside from bosses) so it becomes boring very quickly. My last run was 1hr and I died from boredom. Wouldn't be so bad if there was some permanent progression but there isn't.

Very annoying level generation, game design. In the beginning it is likeable but as you gain levels realise that you always die because random bullsh*t. Level 30 and up takes a looooot of time to finish and 1 (1!!!) mistake makes you waste you 1 hour run even if you were careful. This game hates you, return the favor.

1: Has to have some of the weirdest sound design in a game on steam. 2: Inventive level design and gameplay. 3: Good balance of difficulty. 4: Under £2. Yeah, this is pretty great to be honest.

Addictive little game that is quite fun. Easy to learn and can be tough to master. I find it to have many very funny moments like sacrifcing the kittens for more health, the way the Katana sword works and the various enemies attacks and death animations. there is alot of blood and gore to be sure, I dont find it to be in bad taste however and I think that it adds to the enjoyment of it all. For $1.99 this game is a great deal and will most certainly be worth every cent!

This would be a really great game if 98% of all deaths weren't the result of being juggled or stunlocked. If you can put up with that, give it a try. Unfortunately, I can't.

It's a simple roguelike with an okay first five (30 second) levels and then it gets... pissy. You have to get in front of every enemy's face with your melee weapon and shield the entire time. Your enemies have nothing but homing projectiles that go around you, stun effects, fire effects, frustrating positioning, and all-around pain in the A to kill. The spikes and gas faces are just there to top it off. You can't stand in the same place for more than 1 second. You can't hug the wall while…

A fun game, but with some significant problems added to it. It feels like a fun game that takes cheap shots at you from time to time. -No manual aiming, your projectile targeting is automatically selected for you (often the closest target, or first within line of sight). Grenade aiming becomes very awkward and inconsistent, sometimes an enemy being underneath you causes you to throw grenades at your feet, even if you don't have line of sight. -Jumping sometimes causes you to do a back flip,…

Nah. I mean, the controls are terrible AND punishing. When things are THIS exacting, the controls need to be equally precise. Also, you can't even control where you shoot! You only control the direction and then pray that the game chooses what you want to aim at. Good idea (I guess), but terrible execution.

Tallowmere is a mobile app that's been dumped on Steam as if it was a real PC game (it's not)... it's a cash grab from greedy mobile devs. This mobile app is a dopey, extremely badly made "roguelike" platformer with lightweight RPG elements... and boy, this one is so bad it's comical. The developer had apparently never played platformers before and didn't know you're not supposed to be able to jump infinitely, but you can, and you just flail around with a crappy axe. The RPG elements are…

If it wasn't for the proceduraly generated Dungeon layout with sometimes TERRIBLE trap placement I would call this THE DARK SOULS of 2D Roguelikes. The weapons are so distinctive, the enemy behaviour can be adjusted by adding handicaps called "punishments" at the safe house / spawn area. Music and SOunds are basic but get the job done. Controls are iffy. Sometimes you land where you want and sometimes the retarded airjump turns into a roll which leads to your head touching wall spikes. FKING…

Interesting little arcadey roguelike. I find it to be what many call 'cozy' similar to the old Win3.1 game Castle of the Winds. Although this game isn't nearly as complex as that game, despite being much more advanced graphically. I saw everything it has to offer hours ago and am just trying to go as deep into Lady Tallowmere's dungeons as possible, but I find myself coming back to it when I'm between other games or just momentarily bored with my current PC game. Tallowmere probably means frustration in some language. While I'm usually up for some tough challenge, the level of brutality in this game surpass what I can stand. I cannot count the amount of times I died because of small mistakes, usually thanks to the moth-thingies that pull you toward them and a bunch of enemies. It usually goes like this: carefully prepare to enter to a new room, full health, shield up. I choose the appropriate weapon and start to approach the monsters when BANG, you…

If you're a fan of roguelikes and platformers, this may be for you. The gameplay is simple but challenging, since each of the different enemies can screw you up royally if you're not careful, but they're straightforward to deal with once you learn what they do. The RNG puts the emphasis on "random," but I've yet to have a run where I didn't get *anything* I could use for an extended period. The core gameplay is perfect, everything around is not: can't navigate menus with mouse or with an azerty keyboard since up and down aren't rebindable, resolution scaling messes up your rotation wheel selection (and certainly when played windowed), weapon order doesn't work (so when you assign two weapons next to eachother in your weapon wheel you are unable to switch between these two, the game will randomly select another weapon in your weapon wheel). There is perma death should your party die (multiplayer may revive you) and you'll lose your progress, weapons, and save. I'll let you decide if that's good or not. A mix of enslaught and careful planning. The variety of weapons and their functions make this game. That with the very different attacks of the enemies make for a high replay value. You can loose…
