60 of 183 · most liked firstI wanted to like this game, but it was a real disappointment. (1) The diplomacy options are incredibly limited for a 4X game, let alone a grand strategy game. There are no treaties, limited options to bring in front of the UN, and only the top 12 economies even get a vote at the UN. (2) Warfare is ridiculous. (a) Every engagement uses a set number of forces for the attacker and defender, no matter how many forces you actually have. I would regularly outnumber my target by a factor of 2-3…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun Grand Strategy game. Bad reviews are all upset that they bought a grand strategy instead of a geopolitical simulator. If you enjoy grand strategy you'll enjoy this. It's one of the only modern day grand strategy games and it's one of the best.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was playing the tutorial and saw Eastern Ukraine as "Western Russia". This came out in 2017 before the current conflict was even going. This is just Russian propaganda. But in my refund. I'd rather go through the hassle than support corrupt devs.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Worst. Random. Number. Generator. Mechanics. EVERRRRRRRR... Suffice to say that the RNG is terrible. It basically negates pretty much anything you try to do. 80% chance of doing something? Fail 20x in a row. That breaks any known laws of probabilities I know, so you're even if you have managed to put all the best projects together, which supposedly boost your chances of success, none of that actually matters due to the RNG being so profoundly broken.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I read some reviews and figured it's biggest gripe was it was too casual and kinda barebones. I didn't think much of it because I figured a more casual grand strategy game wouldn't be too bad to have to give more variety to my 4x games. Well it ended up being a lot worse than I imagined. The whole game is waiting around for resources to build up or for projects to finish and the only thing you really do is click some buttons and hope RNG is on your side. This goes from spy missions, making…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If I say this game is garbage then I would insult garbage. Now, first what needed to be understood is that this is no strategy game. As a matter of fact it's got nothing to do with strategy or country management. This is an ordinary "cheap casino game" where you have no control over the events what so ever. All you do is just click "ok" or similar what ever the AI throws at you. 99% of the time is everything bad. You get option A and B, many many times you don't get options, but you lose…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A grand strategy game where you play a nation, get involved in global politics, and try to be the highest scoring nation by being the biggest and most powerful and completing tasks that are randomly generated. I really wanted to like this game, but found as it progresses and your project maintenance goes up and the global economy inevitably flatlines, it becomes too much of a struggle to enjoy. Projects are moving numbers by something like .05% and never seem to make an impact, and all the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Extremely simplistic and unrealistic worldview this game presents could've been envisioned only by the people whose minds have been completely shaped by US propaganda.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Initially I was really enjoying Realpolitiks, it was easy to get into and there was a quick but effective tutorial to show you the ropes. Unfortunately the longer I played the more small irritations accumulated, eventually overwhelming the enjoyment I was getting out of playing. - The game crashes very often, particularly when saving or loading a game. One of those crashes corrupted the associated save, which is concerning even if I had a recent older save I could revert to. - The game only has…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Although there's some niche things of this game, the game is not well designed. Most of the time you just sit there watching your projects taking forever to finish. The diplomatic and warfare systems are just too simplistic.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think we should celebrate the devs and publishers for taking on the challenge of creating a grand strategy title set in the current day. Yet after that celebration I think we should also recognize, soberly, that Realpolitiks is a broken unfun turd that can't support a saved game past a certain game date.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Paying a whole 4 dollars on this product I actually thought when I first played it that it was amazing, playing as Animeland after nuclear war had destroyed the world and people were rebuilding *I promptly renamed my Nation New Meiji and eventually Eternal Nihon after creating a Pacific Bloc from liberated states*, I though this game was really good and quite replayable and interesting. then I decided to sleep and a day later I could no longer play the game, after looking more into it the bug…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Awful UI holds this game back above all else. Not to mention the DLC that ruins what little balance there was before the DLC. That's not even mentioning the biases this game has towards various states and economic systems.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Inadequate explanations for events that occur, let alone methods to resolve them. Grammar errors it messages. Combat resolutions or calculations unknown.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice 4x game. Lots to do and several interesting mechanics. Emulates a lot of today's dilemmas and events. It isn't a bad game but I don't see much replayability The DLC concept is interesting but it adds such a complexity that you'll never be able to remove the malus of the NGOs. I have it turned off
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't waste your time with this one, brings nothing but frustration or boredom. Military is horribly designed with almost every important modifier hidden, and boils down to clicking tactics and hope you have better bonuses than your enemy. Managing your economy is almost non existent as all resources are lumped into one thing, and the raising your gdp is a matter of researching things that take years to finish. It's been years and there is still no way to join another nations bloc for…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Let's be honest - this game is just bad. I would love appreciate this game, because it's way less buggy then Geopolitical simulator, and less politically engaged then Democracy. It has some simple mechanics, so it could be a great casual modern grand strategy game, if only they removed the fu---ng action points system. At the first glance there is nothing bad about it - you have two ressources - money is coming from taxes and financial centers, and AP coming from...thin air? Never really…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Powers with nuclear weapons can have a field day nuking whomever they like as often as they like, and the rest of the world won't even notice. This game would be more aptly named Unrealpolitiks.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No autosaves, no UI scaling (good luck over 1080p), event spam... It's clunky, unintuitive, unbalanced, and honestly should be avoided. Great idea, deeply flawed execution.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game had such great potential, at least in theory. It appears to be a modern version of a Paradox Game, you control a country through modern times and have to achieve prosperity and superiority. Except the mechanics are very threadbare, and so many different factors affect you. Military conquest and expansionism is curtailed by the high cost of provinces in order to conquer. Economic development is primarily controlled by amount of territory plus global conditions. Investing into your…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yknow I really really want to like it but its pretty trashy, its got so much potential and yet its broken in so many ways. War is terrible, the diplomacy is horrendous, you name it and its broken. At the same time im really not sure why i keep playing it lol Update 102 extra hours in: same thing, very very buggy. pls help
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →kinda fun if you dont care too much, it was in a big bundle so it was worth it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The idea of this game is awesome, but the implementation has several major issues, which causes so many negative reviews. My first review was negative as well, which I leave below this news review. The game is wonderful after you understand who to play it, which takes multiple hours and lots of efforts considering that this game lacks proper gameplay tutorials and video reviews. This game is awesome because it has so many cool features in country management, outperforming even Civilization 6…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →tl;wr: game too easy, ai stupid, upgrades are unbalanced, debt system is 'Just' infinite money I played as Uganda in the first scenario, I built up the country by running my debt in to the ground while upgrading anything that helped with the GDP. I bankrupted about 8 or 9 times and there were no repercussions for this, I took over just about every neighboring country and avoided any repercussions by simply spacing out when I sent the peace treaties and took their Providences. when I finally…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a mess. Forget the fact it performs poorly with terrible graphics. Forget the terrible soundtrack, the poor scaling, which makes certain text unreadable. Forget the complete lack of settings (even the list of available resolutions is laughable). Let's just look at the map, probably the most important aspect of games like this. Afterall, these are the only visuals you get. This map is terrible. Provinces make no sense, are seemingly drawn with no regard to the history, political and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yeah, this one's not so good. I couldn't get through the tutorial without the game getting stuck, but I aborted that and tried a scenario as the US looking to form a bloc with Canada and Mexico. Canada joined up but Mexico formed its own bloc with another country, so couldn't join mine. Thus, I lose? Okay, well that's enough for me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game, pretty fun. But it crashes way too often. And sometimes, after crashing, your last auto-save, and your last saved game can be corrupted, and you just lost your entire game. very annoying
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a poor man's Hearts of Iron with obtuse UI, poor war mechanics, and a rather unimaginative "tech tree" if you can even call it that. Only plus is the loading screens being kinda funny
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →EH. I bought this gamer summer 2018. Back then I was mesmerised. Now I'm just dissapointed. Great grand strategy game for a 13 yer old with a passing interest in Grand strategy gaming. Not So much for anyone with a developed understanding/appreciation for the genre.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is alright. The mechanics are all not terrible except for warfare. The warfare system is absolutely garbage. The "taking control of provinces" system after winning the war is also absolute ♥♥♥♥. I played a lot of HOI4 and if you expected anything decent in terms of warfare like you would in HOI4 then I would not recommend this game to you. Otherwise it's not bad. 6/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Is this a good game? No, not really. It's a 5.5/10 that could have been a 7/10 except the devs immediately ran off to start making the sequel instead of patching the bugs here. (One big one causes the prices of new tech to go up exponentially instead of linearally meaning you'll almost certainly fail the main campaign around the year 2070 which sux if you started in 2020 and were hoping to win in 2100)... But, um, aside from that... good tech tree, reasonably adept AI, solid options for each…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tomorrow at 6.30PM CET: Might be an unusual stream for me! I will be streaming a grand strategy game of Realpolitiks 3 and I will be playing as my own country! This will be a rare chance to yap about my origins! + We'll do Dead Estate when I burn my country down by accident LOL. Hope to see ya!
unlabelledView post →I have a bit mixed feelings about this game; first of all it´s a great introduction to the concept of realpolitics, geopolitics etc and I truly enjoy the art and visuals. However, being a long-time axis&allies player I see a lot of issues with how warfare part is conducted sometimes making the game feel more like Risk than taking strategic positions into consideration. Also use of WOMD and initiating wars between major powers is very unrealistic for a game that wants to feel unrealistic.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Realpolitiks is a 2017 grand strategy/political simulator from 1C. Gameplay consists of a somewhat dry experience of looking at a map of the world and clicking through various dialogs in realtime, ostensibly without too much micromanagement needed. As a grand strategy, you decide how to respond to various external threats as well as deciding internal policies. Surely a recipe for success, but 1C managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. AI isn't too great, and gameplay isn't as…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are quite a number of impossible events (UN Coalition rolls over you) that you cannot do anything about. This game actually has major flaws with those sorts of situations and I hope the sequel corrected them.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is pretty bad, for anyone expecting something like Hearts of Iron or anything close to a political simulator is wrong. This is more of a mobile game than a strategy game. I don't think they'll be able to turn this around since the base system is pretty pretty bad. Strongly inform yourself before you waste your money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been gaming for over 25 years and after less than two hours of playing this game, I can say this ranks in the top 5 of the worst games I've ever played and I don't recall the 4 other worst. Even getting this on sale for $5.00 or whatever, was money poorly spent.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very nice to play even addictive. i just don't understand why russia is cathegorized as "Totalitarian" where saudi arabia isn't... makes no sense, hope they'll be more realistic in realpolitiks II. Otherwise it's perfect and there are keyboard controls (arrows, space ...find out by yourselves)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not bad. I look forward to Realpolitiks II.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Totally acurate political simulation of the real world... I mean in 2017 devs couldn't know that Russia will atack Ukraine or that Trump will try to get Greenland! Man... If China conqure Mars before any other nation or Roman Empire is resotre in 2222... Devs 100% have time machine! Score: Casineria/Bankeria
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →HoI4 milllenium dawn slop.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For the price, the gameplay, and for the strategy, this game is not worth 15 euro. It's very simple and the "grand campaign" you can do probably takes about more than 10 hours to finish. This game is excruciatingly long, the skills take years to develop and the war system is just dice roll after dice roll. Don't play this game if you value your time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not bad for first game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Could be better. Keeps crashing. Extremely buggy. Events that should affect a country affect unintended countries. Sloppy typos and general writing. Deserves a sloppy negative review.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a super bad joke, the devs are freaking clowns that don't know anything about this world. Btw there is no such thing as Palestine you morons.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game just stopped working, even reinstalling does not help, so much time after the release and such critical bugs.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game seems to be broken. All of my money was dissapearing on "Projects and events", forcing me into debt. This just seems like a part of the game, except that there is seemingly no way to find out what is draining your money. Not only that, but I spotted a few spelling mistakes, potentialyl indicating poor QA. The art and the music, as well as the general theme, aren't bad. But the tutorial is. It ignored multiple aspects of the game. The developers didn't seem to write any type of…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Supreme Ruler Ultimate is so much better because there are many options that you can do to build your country such as manage your economy through taxes, inflation, domestic price, export, import, production, building factories (i.e consumer goods, industry good, etc.), interest rate, bonds and many more. The game has complex system being put into it so each of your decision affects other systems such as increasing tax will force your citizen to save up and spend less, reducing the demands and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So basically it is a really good game rally nice features: -space race in various stages - race to the bottom of the sea, nice as well -the possibility to diplomatic annex a huge bunch of nations, but much too easy - complex enough economy and action points management bad features of the game: UN-troops win after 2 years even if you have + somewhat war score, they simply win, and I can't nuke em. ABSOLUT RUBBISH The army, war system is complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, if I have 20 times an army as my…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game would be worth maybe five bucks to buy (I got it on sale) IF it wasn't for a major balance issue: Some major small countries are quiet unplayable. Taiwan for instance, is basically just about waiting for China to invade you and end your game. The problem is the bloc system, which is the only way of having military alliances in the game, is too limited. You cannot join a block, you have to found your own, and you can only invite a country to your bloc with, not only a good relations…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Realpolitiks is a game where you take the reigns of a country and control it. So you can choose its focuses for investigation, diplomacy and anything. As a game, it is interesting to say the least, and it could have been a really good game. But. The UI is bad, it fails to explain things, when opening a menu by right-clicking on a country it happens very often that it is hidden behind another element and even if you drag the map me menu stays in place. The game keeps unpausing after every…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The UI is bad. Very little information is presented to the player in-game. The tutorial bugged out for me and wouldn't progress so I just played a normal game and tried to figure it out as I went along. I am not a master strategy game player, but I've played enough to be able to figure it out right? No. This game really does not explain much or even provide much agency to the player. For example, as the United States, I know I need to decrease relations with a state and have them or me be a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's much more sophisticated than the first part, there are a lot of innovations, the graphics have grown dramatically, but the gameplay itself has become much worse, so I can't recommend it, I played a little and deleted it. Left it for the collection
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Realpolitiks — Recommended (only on sale) Realpolitiks is basically “EU4-lite” in a modern geopolitics costume: diplomacy, influence, economy, wars, alliances… but simplified and way more approachable. It’s a decent grand strategy sandbox if you want the vibe of global domination without the brain-melt of the bigger beasts. But let’s be honest: it’s not unforgettable. Production values are average, the music is pretty basic, and the long-term depth can’t compete with the more recent games in…
