The first Realpolitiks was a decent, not great but decent, grand strategy game set in the modern/near future era. It had some intriguing ideas but ultimately fell victim to flawed execution, lack of depth, and some poor design decisions that led to an economic death spiral in most lategames. The second game has all of the first game's flaws and none of its virtues. The economic system is flat-out broken, and any similarity between what the game tells you a certain project or upgrade does and…

The game seems to be well developed, but there is one major issue that I believe was over-looked. The projects all have flat costs, which is fine. However, they all lack flat bonuses, which means that basically any development of a minor nation puts you into crippling debt without actually allowing for growth of your nation. There should either be a modifier to GDP growth when considering the small size of a nation or some sort of flat bonus to allow smaller nations to be playable. Major…

I purchased this game at a discounted price of $8.99 and still feel I was ripped off. Several aspects of the game are broken. Saving a game and trying to load it later either produces an error, or your country disappears and the game ends. Several achievements don’t work at all. Game mechanics are all over the place. Several things don’t scale properly. There are countless bugs and zero support. The official discord channel is completely ignored by developers/staff. Tech support is mostly…

I really want to like this game (very interested in geopolitics), but unfortunately, since the game is more frustrating than fun, I can't. Since the game is in early access, I'll hedge my review with that in mind. 1. 'Arcade'-ish gameplay: I'm sorry, but geopolitics is already a niche field and most players that are into geopolitical games / simulations want to dive into deeper strategy. Realpolitiks II (like the first), is really lackluster and shallow. Don't expect Paradox Entertainment/…

The game has been abandoned and quite a few bugs have never been fixed but there's one bug that has never been fixed that destroys this game; when you have a longer game your save file will destroy itself. It's a 4Xish strategy game were you aren't able to have longer games... which is the whole point of this genre of games.

The good: - Idea - You can play with every country in the world - Loadingscreens The bad: - Too simple - One proper tactic (be dictator!) - Some bugs - Could be better simulator - Audio Summary: The idea is astonishing and I really wanted to play it, but the game is shallow and mechanics are sometimes too easy.

DO NOT BUY! READ BELOW!! Game is full of bugs. And unsupported pretty much. Poorly optimized (even on lowest settings my video card is whirring away to render a 3d board with pixelated textures). Save games break. Happened to me on my first try. My save would load, and then I couldn't do anything (I was stuck on the screen to choose my right hand, with no right hands to choose from, and I had been playing for about 5 years, I already had a right hand chosen at the start of the game). The game is nice but poorly developed. After 2050 you can't play without having to reboot the entire game every 20 minutes due to performance issues. I have a core i7, 16gb of memory and SSD and using the game with the lowest graphics possible it is impossible to play the game near 2070. It simply stop working, the time does not pass anymore. There are so many performance issues that I ask myself if any developer ever played the game after 2050. I think I just wasted my money.

I am enjoying the game so far. As Israel, I began with taking over nearby territories, Jordan, and Lebanon. Six years into the game, I had to withstand chronic invasions from Egypt and Syria simultaneously. As easily as they dispatched my military, neither of those countries attempted to send their troops to Jerusalem, where I kept the what was left of my army. This kept either side from achieving a 100 percent war score, which allowed me to keep turning down their demands until each war…

In its current state, I do not recommend. Reasons: 1. Random removal of industrial buildings like farms, minds, bases which lead eventually to economic collapse and there is no explanation for why they are just gone 2. you cannot track your troops easily. When you zoom in and zoom out, they vanish. You can also not multi select troops, just one at a time. 3. Random increase in maintenance cost on building which havent been upgraded. the game doesnt actually tell you which buildings are…

The game mechanics are simple and easy to navigate, but some aspects are left totally a mystery. For example, provincial environmental degradation is roughly outlined, but no explanation on how to reverse or mitigate. Random rebellions occur because of this game aspect but no guidance or help is available. Speaking of rebellions: the fact that rebel forces seem to split off from your own military, armed with your own weapons, and possessing your same tech is counter to reality - Rebels may…

This game is held back by the developers' lack of community engagement. Current state of the game is riddled with game-breaking bugs. The developers have mostly ghosted the community, and the forums are dead. It is almost impossible to get any support for issues that may be buried deep in someone's troubleshooting post from long ago. The manuals for the game do not go in-depth, but do a good job of giving you a basic understanding of the game and the modding tool. I've run into several save…

First let me address the reviews that say the graphics are poor. I don't know what computers they have of course, but I have an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X with a 2160p monitor and it looks fantastic! I also ran this game on my older computer which I bought back in 2014 and it runs fine --no freezing, lag, etc., and the graphics are better than average. Now for playing the game. This is a very unique game I must say --in a refreshing way! I don't know how it compares to the first game --I'm on…

Skip this one and get the original (RealPolitiks 1) which is much less ambitious but infinitely more playable and also available on ios. I am one of the people who like to play with a small country and make it great over many years. That's just no fun in RP2. It seems grand strategy sequels so often end up as messy buggy unfinished money grabs, Still it could be worse, comparable superpower 3 for example abandoned the game after releasing it in alpha state. Great potential eclipsed by bugs This game does not need any more content. The content it has is already very good, in my opinion. However, does that matter if you can't actually play the game? This is my experience: After 90 minutes of playing, the game crashed twice and closed suddenly while I was playing the TUTORIAL! I did a bit of research online and I saw I could play it if I turned anti-aliasing off. Also, I decided to reduce other parameters. I could play the game without…

Guys, game is in shameful shape. Loading screens were shorter in 2005 and game has a lot of bugs(not to mention game wont load after enough ingame time). I had doubts buying this game after RP1, but I bought it in early access, because I like the idea. The idea which this game abandoned pretty fast. Strategic choices? Army composition matters? Replayability and good, nah, DECENT AI? No things like that in the game. Pity

For a game that is still in Early Access and has captivated me for over 100 hours of play, I have to recommend it. Of course, some bugs and game crashes have ensured that the hours come together, BUT the developers are working diligently and you notice progress over the months. There are still a few bugs missing, which will hopefully be fixed by the full release.

The idea of Realpolitiks 2 is awesome, but its implementation is really bad. Realpolitiks 2 provides richer GUI than Realpolitiks 1, but it still lacks keyboard-based controls and demands excessively large hardware resources, being buggy, slow (both in terms of the gameplay with limited options, and in terms of the need to move mouse pointer back and forth between the timer and various panels), and overall boring. As for the bugs, then, the game starts by drawing itself on the 1/4 part of the…

I really like the idea of this kind of strategy game, and am a big fan of Paradox games like EU4, Hearts of Iron, and Crusader Kings. I also had fun with the first Realpolitiks, and collected 100% of the achievements for it, so this should be right up my alley. However, I cannot recommend Realpolitiks 2 as it is now (version 1.08). I want to recommend this game but: 1. the AI's army tend to glitch out during war and will be locked in combat which prevents peace treaties from working because the game thinks there is a battle on going. Gaining new territory won't actually increase the amount of money you make and will likely decrease the amount of money you make while only increasing your AP (Action Points) 2. This game stinks. The game looks, feels, and breathes, like a budget Paradox game, nothing really unique which sets it apart from games such as Hearts of Iron 4 and EUIV map-wise, which would be a good thing as they're both great titles, but the game is mired in self-obsession, is extremely laggy for no reason as the map is poor quality, and is pretentious and stale. This is a great game with tons and tons of potential, marred by some very real and very frustrating issues. I'll start with this: This is a STELLAR game for anyone just getting into Grand Strategy, the fundamentals can be learned in less than a week with little to no external help (wikis, etc) and it's generally a very good pick-up-and-play experience. Singleplayer campaigns will last about a week and a half if you're playing for a few hours every day and they're generally a pretty fun…

On year 2037, time freezes and need to reload constantly to fix the clock, can no longer select buildings so cannot build any more army or infrastructure, even after hours of work building a block, hours wasted on a buggy mess. In my opinion, the second game is an improvement to the first one. This is due to a better focus tree with more possibilities, which makes the lategame more interresting. One bad thing about the tree is that a few projects cost more ressources, when the amount of your provinces increases. This leads to insane waiting times of a few real life hours for one project that you need for one of the win conditions. Another improvement is that your country can grow bigger.
