60 of 187 · most liked firstI liked the first Mortal Glory pretty good - a bite-sized tactics game that you could satisfyingly play in 30 minute increments if you wanted (a rarity these days). Some limitations & not much depth, but still was a cool effort from what appeared to be a first-time developer. I enjoyed my time with it, and didn't expect anything more than the 20-25 hours it delivered before things got too repetitive. When I saw an announcement for the sequel, it went on my wishlist. A lot of potential to add…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first one was fun to play. It was also very flawed. Difficult to predict what the opponent will do, need to check their AP, and their reach, so decision making was a bit slow. But I still enjoyed the progression: Buying more gears, more skills, more fighters, training them etc... Mortal Glory 2 streches the game too thin in my opinion. I've been playing for more than an hour and finished the first tournament and I'm still stuck with only 2 characters. I've probably already done 10+ fights,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →worth like $5 complaints in rest of comments nail it. map is boring (should be more like slay the spire), early game is slow and boring or broken/rng reliant, there are a billion skills but few synergize well enough to justify the action cost, many dont work how you think they will work (apparently 'summon hostile creatures' means they are only hostile to me?'), and maybe half are outright useless. it seems like a lot of work went into this, but it honestly seems like a pet project game.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →7/10, or 5/10. Judged as a standalone game, this is a fun little roguelike gladiator game. 7/10 As the sequel to Mortal Glory 1, this was 1 step forward, 2 steps back. 5/10 Let's start with the game itself. The game itself was enjoyable, and distinguished itself from bare minimum gladiator games and many other gladiator games (including Mortal Glory 1) by having a wide array of environmental objects you could interact with, alongside abilities and items specifically geared towards…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Completely unplayable in higher difficulties. You keep getting one-shot by everyone, who have OP equipment from head to toe. On top of that you get really really bad drops so you can never compete. Needs difficulty adjustment.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really disappointed with how this one came out. While the combat of Mortal Glory 1 was pretty good, the best part of the game for me was the visual novel/management RPG aspect between the battles. Feels like all of that was stripped away to make Yet Another Node Based Roguelite.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Excellent tactics RPG. I actually have about 4 hours in it. Steam Deck never records playtime properly. The game is structured almost exactly like Slay the Spire, the great card battler roguelite. The combat is standard (but great) for tactics RPGs, except that there is a lot of 'control' abilities and stuff. It's not just beating each other with weapons and magic. It's also a lot of pushing and knocking enemies back and into things. You can push them into an object and do DMG to them, or…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a great little engine but it fails by aiming too small. One on one is boring. By the time you get to 4v4, the run ends. So runs are also a slog. Start the game at 3v3 and let teams go up to 6v6. And rework the map screen; there aren't any hard choices on it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →MG2 is chess (kinda) meets gladiator tactics + RPG + Rougelite elements. This game is wayyy more fun than I initially thought it'd be (tried out MG1 & didn't get into it). With MG2, once you're past the initial phase of trial and errors of learning the mechanics and getting over the graphics (not bad by any stretch, just very different among all the next-gen raytracing behemoths coming out), you step into a breath of fresh air. To give an example when it finally clicked for me. I had 4…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Excellent mix of good old Areena games and roguelike mechanics. Every aspect of old Areena games has been improved, yet the old humour is still there. I like. Best small indie game I've bought in a while.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TLDR: Turn-based Slay the Spire-esque roguelike with somewhat boring skills. An overall slight improvement over MG1. PROS: ✅Refined gameplay loop from MG1 ✅Modifiers add some unique challenges CONS: ➖Borrows too much from Slay the Spire ➖Some UI issues ➖Unexciting spells/skills You can check out my review or Mortal Glory 1 here: https://steamcommunity.com/id/Synikx/recommended/1097530?snr=1_5_9__402 Content (Game world/Narrative/Length) – [5/10] Game World: Mortal Glory 2 (MG2) has a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At first the game does not feel as a big improvement over the first Mortal Glory, some things are actually made worse (buy/sell interface for instance). There are still huge difficulty spikes. Art style is inconsistent. Most playable characters after getting some levels offer pretty little variety and there are very few effective archetypes. This reduces replayability greatly. Reign of Tyrants DLC is a game changer. Boss mode is much better than standard campaign mode. Playable bosses are all…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a good game. I did finish the default run on my first try in a few hours. I had fun, yes, but I'm not sure if it has the staying power to keep me coming back. Having said that, when you buy a game you never know if it's gonna be good or bad or how playable it's gonna be. This is not a problem here. This game works and it's fun. Only doubt is with the mileage.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →1. get dwarf 2. get two sets of gloves made for punching barrels 3. barrel 4. win game Buy the game. It's low-cost, made by a solo dev, and it's a lot of fun to play if you enjoy rogue-like games with an emphasis on strategic thinking. Little sprinkles of STS, X-Com, FTL and more throughout, but it does a good job at still feeling like it's own game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mortal Glory 2 is centered towards casual players as any difficulty above normal with any problematic modifiers allows enemies to execute the player's team members in single turns either through obstacles that instantly kill. The general unpredictability of enemies flooding the field with summons and hazards is enough to nullify turns or leave little to no breathing, so player choice begins to limit itself in the planning phase and in battle as the player team either has a rigid yet strong…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i don't know why they added a slay the spire map it really wasn't needed
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like this game, The hardest difficulty feels too RNG reliant, its either a breeze from the get go with good RNG or you die at the very first stages, Because of it you dont feel engaged after killing the ~first boss -the game drags on and its more about "i want to complete the run" then the actual challenge The class balance is not great but taking on a weaker class could still be fun
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mortal Glory 2 is now available on PlayStation also! 🥳 The game can now finally be played on PC + SWITCH + XBOX + PS! 🔥🔥🔥 #indiedev #PlayStation #indiegames
unlabelledView post →I didn't like it at first, but once I got past the mismatched art style and some other quirks the game was really fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →1591 hours in - near perfect game. Brutally unfair in all the right ways
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →(っ◔◡◔)っ ♥ Fight with fun ♥
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Like MG, MG2 is a turn-based gladiator style of game. You may eventually have a team of up to four toons, each equipped with skills and equipment granted at level-up or gained through battle. The big change from MG seems to be the addition of a StS node-based system of progression through three areas. After each battle, you are awarded some loot (more if you took the harder version of the fight) and some experience. At level-up you have the choice to add a skill or increase a variety of stats.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mortal Glory 2 is an excellent game that players of tabletop skirmish games like The Fantasy Trip, Mordheim, Frostgrave, or Warcry would do well to check out. It´s surprising to me that this particular tabletop genre is not better represented in the digital space, but this game offers a good, simple ruleset, fun characters, tons of equipment and skills, roster management, and a Roguelike campaign offering solid replayability. I´m finding that the game satisfies my cravings for miniatures-style…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →fun and good (non frustrating) balance so far beefy melee chars seems to be much stronger than mages though, maybe with a mage playthrough I will have more troubles
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is not too bad, but there are significant pacing issues that make it difficult to enjoy it fully. This review will cover the default game mode and I may update it later for the other modes. This main mode actually starts nice and challenging on higher difficulties; but the moment you overcome this initial challenge, the rest of the game has very uneven challenge and way too much grind. There's a point where I feel like I'm using very similar tactics from battle to battle and the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Perfect Strategy roguelike game, awesome!! 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →♥♥♥♥♥♥ version of the first game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think MG1 is better than MG2. MG2 feels more like a Slay the Spire rip off. Hopefully, I don't sound too much of a change is bad, original good but, it feels...slow. The AI is definitely better but it feels more like a DLC rather than a new game. I do like some of the changes like perks being a benefit for the most part rather than complete RNG based like the first one (perks being part of picking a character). Another example would be the level up system, I like that. There's pros and cons…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice... I bought it with the DLC. Lots of variety to make every run feel different. You have to analyze what the enemy does in order to win the rounds... Thumbs Up! :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very well done strategy release. Better than the first one IMO which was also VERY GOOD. Also nice to know that they are BOTH quite different games as far as mechanics are concerned. Although this one DOES have a mode that allows it to play SIMILAR to the first one IF you select that option. If you can only dip your feet in now, get MG1 when on sale, as it's only a couple bux...if you feel like testing the water before even shelling out that minor amount...try the DEMO for this one...it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Solid sequel to one of the most underrated rogue-likes IMO. A lot of additional content and a Slay the Spire esque game play loop. If you're a fan of either strategy RPGS or Roguelkes this deserves a look. If you're a fan of both, it's a must buy,
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game has an interesting strategy concept. Except for critical hits... They are random and unbalanced. You might have high level fighters and still lose to low level npcs critical hits. This is not for me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is unbalanced and out of whack, and milking it with expensive DLCs is utter nonsense. Fun idea though, hope the devs get their act together and make it the money's worth. Hope they get more creative though, what about flying units, shapeshifting and people do never heard of bows? Perhaps that's in the DLC but I'm not paying for that.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm loving this game, it's a lot better than the first, and the first one rocked. The only thing that's a drag is the Spire-like node map that you must progress through. Gladiator games should have a base of operations, where Proximo boosts the morale of those who are about to die. Aside from that (minor) criticism, this is definitely worth the price of admission.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My now second favorite turn-based roguelike (fav being Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup). Game mechanics are simple but because of the LARGE assortment of skills/spells/weapons/races/etc. there's a lot of depth. Creating strategies and figuring out synergies to min/max your party and then executing those plans in the arena makes for some great dopamine hits. My only complaint is that the campaign is a bit too long. It started getting repetitive in the end game once my party was just blazing through…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fantastic game if you like crunchy, tactical combat. Discovering this game and playing my first 8 hours over the course of two days is some of the most fun I've had in a long time. It's a bit of an odd-ball, in style, adopting a very standard (I think too standard) slay the spire event tree, but with runs that can last up to 3 hours in length and are best spaced across multiple sessions. It took me a few runs to get really used to this, but I like the system now. You really get to go deep…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So let me start of my confusing review by saying that Mortal Glory 2 is a pretty good game. It feels, largely, like a shinier, bigger, less quirky/endearing version of Mortal Glory 1. I don't think this is an objectively bad thing, but as someone who really plumbed the depths of MG1 and stopped playing only when I had unwound its hardest challenges at the highest difficulties, I was really hoping MG2 would innovate more than water down/polish. The TL;DR is that the game is polished, and...…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing sequel to the first. Extremely improved in almost every area. Completely different take on the tournament aspect though. Not bad, just different. The potential to create more playability is there too. Bought and played the first one from the release and throughout the years in between this one and I know they improve and add to the game consistently. Excited to see what they will add. 9/10. Absolutely buy this if you enjoy roguelites
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a hidden gem for sure. I played for 8 hours straight. Now I can see myself getting bored eventually, but I think if the dev adds more content like events, characters, items, relics, challenge styles, and unlockables (maybe alt costumes?) it would have amazing replay-ability like say, Slay the Spire. As is, the game is good. Got my money's worth. If expanded upon and further developed it can be great. Kind of wish you could use the same race in your party though. What if I just…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great, bite sized tactical roguelike that punches above its weight. The graphics are rather threadbare because the developer put their effort into making the gameplay compelling, varied, and surprisingly deep. Definitely pick this up if you are into the genre. It's well worth it and you're supporting an indie dev who is clearly doing this out of love.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played the demo during the last fest and it was great, full game is even better in every way. Some stuff could be better explained and i wish the extra challenges on fights weren't almost always not worth using but otherwise it's a great roguelite.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun little arena tactics game. I'll recommend it at full price, but I also want to list a few gripes I had that may color your experience as well: The individual runs are a bit too long for me. I have about 17 hours played and that was only 4 runs (3 normal wins with the tutorial run being a loss on the last phase.) Also, your run isn't saved in the cloud, so if you start on your desktop and want to finish on a different device like your steamdeck later, you're going to have to transfer the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I didn't play the first game but I'm really enjoying this one. it's like a more easily digestible Tales of Maj Eyal
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If only there was excessive gore to simulate a furry getting punched 44 spaces irl....
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not as good as the first game ....this one gave me depression and a mid life crisis....seriously
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →turn based, arena style. good flow, doesn't feel too tedious. Nice to jump into and have a run without taking hours and hours
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love the game, any complaint about getting one shot means they are likely just min-maxing a single stat - not how you play unless you want to get one shot. This isn't skyrim
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Have to give this game a super positive review. It's made great improvements on the last game. It's a very solid tactics game. The devs has just put out awesome dlc features and listened to feedback from the community
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is simple to pick up, but deep in its possibilities with character customization and paths you can take to win. Great tactical turn based game. Worth a buy, and the DLC's are worth the content provided for the price as well! Great job dev, you have a real winner here!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm a massive Slay the Spire and Slice and Dice fan and this game scratches those similar itches very well
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Glad that there is an alternative to rougelikes like Slay The Spire and FTL but with turn based fights, really fills a niche there. Also it has good progression unlocking new items and run modifiers along the way.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →nice game for mindless fun
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I mean, for $5 I guess, could be a mobile game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Now when I have some hours played in MG2, I can state I'm having so much fun with it :D It's truly a great game with high replayability and I can't wait until I can make the difficulties on Master even more challenging in the future. This game is also well received on YouTube and I will continue posting MG2 content until I feel like the game won't challenge me anymore!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best roguelites I've played in a very long time, and I play almost all of them. This developer really knows how to make a good game, and it shows in so many ways. Everything from the variety of items and skills and races, to the battle mechanics, economy, artwork, interesting decisions, build synergies, run modifiers, quality of life features, etc are really outstanding. I could go on for hours about every little aspect of this game and talk about how the dev did it the right way.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →7 / 10 for me. Fun game. Not a huge amount of repeatability for me. But a fun way to spend 20 hours all up.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game does one thing, and does it pretty well. It's a roguelite arena game where you build up some dudes and upgrade them over time. Combat is simple but has depth. Knockbacks are satisfying. Graphics are not great but also are not the point of the game. The AI is very good. A couple hiccups - I think the XP formula could use some tweaks. Utility characters don't get as much XP as damage dealers, and become squishy and useless if they fall too far behind. Perks are interesting but I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i'm afraid this is too random for me i did not play the first game, and maybe its part of this game type. but when i play roguelites i expect to be able to make builds and not be so dependent on if the game is willing to throw me a bone,
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A neat coffee-break tactics game.
