Forgotten Mines has reached 200 reviews on Steam! For me this is a very big surprise, I didn't imagine that so many people would play and like my first commercial game. Thanks everyone! #indiegame #godotengine #gamedev #indiebr

My review is specifically for people who are disabled with limited accessibility. This game is a lot of fun. And interesting take on the roguelike genre and the way you progress is very interesting however the fact that it does not have a setting to change the click and drag to a click move and then click again system makes it completely unplayable for anybody with accessibility issues. I don't have the ability to click and drag. Most quadriplegics or people with limited hand functionality…

5/10, kind of a neutral recommendation. It's a tactical 3 party member group Roguelike where you repeatedly die and farm Gems that allow you to buy stuff to make future runs easier. Eventually, you are strong/lucky enough to win with enough unlocks. Pros: - UI scaling. So, so many games don't have this - Lots of classes to unlock - Some unique classes you don't see often like Time Mage, Enchanter and Abjurer, etc - Some abilities are satisfying to use - Becomes much more fun with more…

Alright I'm not going to lie the game does seem very fun but the balancing barely works half the time, for the following reasons 1) Your characters can have random negative traits, which you have no way to reroll or control without just starting a run and instantly abandoning it. This wouldn't be a problem if the traits varied by class or had any kind of balance to them. As it stands, a lot of your characters will have -1 action which pretty much neuters them earlygame, or your literal magic…

This game is a gem developed by a solo dev. It has great replay value because it's a roguelite, and the fact that it's a tactical roguelite makes everything feel even more special. I recommend it to everyone who likes tactical games, classic RPG settings and has that itch for roguelites. Excited to follow the game's evolution and support :)

I wish there was a neutral review/recommendation button, because this game has the exact same Design Flaw as Battle Brothers, where it is mathematically impossible to defeat the first runs until you have grinded enough (you deal 1 damage, enemy heals 10 each turn, there's no other way of increasing damage if not collecting gems, upgrading class and restarting run). I simply don't like this type of approach because it completely removes the Strategy part of the game. Your classes are irrelevant…

Came here after the Splatter review. Seems like it has a great game at its core, but it's currently plagued by a few very common bugs that are run-ending. It's highly disappointing to be on a roll, finally be geared aaaaand have to basically abandon runs because of bugs. It's got a great difficulty curve to it and is unforgiving. I'm OK with that and happy for the challenge; it's game-ending bugs that make it a game worth checking back in a couple weeks. The 'restart battle' will bug…

Fun and tough game, combat system is fun, replayable Things I noticed: -use gems wisely - spears attack two spaces -beginning traits dont matter too much (you get one reroll as well) - mages can punch things for xp - did I say this game was hard?

Breaks my run whenever I restart a battle. Buttons in the pause menu don't work and my characters can't take actions whenever I restart a battle. Game is a buggy mess. Other than that, the game is very clunky and unpolished.

TLDR: A frustrating roguelite where relentless RNG turns every run into a coin flip. When the game can beat you on Easy mode through pure bad luck, the fun disappears fast. PROS: ➕Lots of classes NEUTRALS: 🔹Difficult, even on easy mode CONS: ➖No 1440p resolution option….straight from 1080 to 4k ➖Controls don’t seem very responsive or intuitive ➖Very often have run-ending enemy setups/RNG dependant ➖Can’t see abilities of class before you buy them ➖Guild upgrades are boring ➖Events too…

It would be cool if you couldn't start with 4 people in a party but you could get some special event(s) that would give you more random dwarfs along the way. I think this could also potentially save some runs where you have 1 of your guys die from some random RNG bs... I get that not all runs are meant to be finished/won but maaaan game's hard as it is even on easy difficulty especially early on (in zones 2 and 3). I also feel like if you get yourself to zone 4 you are just cruising to End…

I like the gameplay, the classes are different and interesting, but the metaprogression makes the game incredibly unfun. It is impossible to win a run without unlocking a massive amount of metaprogression. I did one run, beat the first boss, and enemies on level 2 just instagibbed all of my guys. I made 3 whole diamonds in that run to unlock stuff, and to unlock everything has got to be thousands of diamonds. That's not fun for me at all. It's also incredibly boring spending 3-4 turns at the…

As a participant of closed beta, I'd say the game got way better after 1.0 with a lot of (all of?) bugs fixed. And, therefore, Forgotten Mines can be extremely enjoyable for a certain amount of hours. The learning curve of what works best (I'm looking at you any spear wielding guys, at least for now) and what works not that great, as well as getting started in general might seem very overwhelming at first. But after you invest some gems and coins into certain classes and permanent upgrades,…

Wants to waste your time. I beat the first fight of the game. You can leave the room at any time but there's ores you can attack to mine to gain the resources you will need to buy stuff. Now I have to sit there, inputting attack commands, just to gain single ingots of gold. Am I playing a strategy roguelite or minecraft? There's no puzzle to this. You have X turns until reinforcements arrive so you just mine as much as you can before they arrive and leave for the next room. Complete…

Very nice tyight game, wherte each action feels meaningfull. Very hard to get good head-start - the class difference is really strong and you need to get classes for 10-15$ asap, makes all the difference. Quite refreshing when most of the games feel quite the same - this one feels unique due to fast-past short battles where any wrong move leads to game over. Extra cudos for Godot :)

Seemed really fun at first but then quickly turns into an absolute grind. The balance also seems completely out of whack, until you gathered a bunch of upgrades. It's very simple from a tactical standpoint, which doesn't really help, because you just hope for good gear at the shop and then duke it out until the enemies will completely obliterate you over and over again. Can't recommend it in the current state, progression is way too slow, classes are not interesting enough, while the ones that…

I've played the game for 3.5 hours. I have beat the first boss ONCE. This game is extremely RNG based, yet also extremely skill based. All your characters could get terrible starting traits, yet you get superb equipment drops, yet you personally fumble a turn and get a full party wipe. You're going to lose. And thats the fun. Top tier battle RPG.

Unfortunately, Can't Recommend I really want to love this game. The classes, upgrades, and item variety all make for a very compelling game. However, there are far too many game-breaking problems, including equipment vanishing, dead characters reviving when they shouldn't, and enemy AI failing (sometimes shooting at floor loot, sometimes stalling, etc.). Worse still, these bugs aren't rare; at least two major issues seem to occur on every playthrough. I encountered my first game-breaking bug…

The game is glitchy. The revive item revived the wrong character. Then in the next battle, I lost and restarted, but the game killed my berserker (who had never died up to that point) and replaced him with my knight (who was supposed to be revived) I restarted the fight, but the game then said that my sniper was dead, so I only had my knight to deploy. I tried restarting more, but the game decided it was done screwing around (no more glitches, but a screwed run) Also, new equipable items…

Very nice Grind-Roguelike, every expedition gets deeper in the dungeon, there's a lot to be unlocked and discovered here, very pleasant surprise. The tutorial screen is a bit of an overwhelming read in the first seconds though. It's not clear that you can swap races by clicking on the symbol on the team building screen(maybe it's just me though); once you swap your dwarven spellcasters for elves, it's a much different journey down the mines.

This is a fun little tactics game that's more challenging than it looks. I know bashing your head against them is sort of a hallmark for this genre of game, but on normal difficulty I was getting absolutely obliterated with no apparent chance for success even if I played optimally. Knocking the difficulty down to easy felt just right when starting out; it's still challenging but able to actually proceed enough to earn some gems to unlock upgrades. There are no tactics in this game - it's just pure grinding. You have to repeat the same levels millions of times to afford the passive abilities that boost your damage and allow you to move forward with the story. Without hardcore grinding, the game is impossible to beat. It's a terrible idea; I gave up after repeating the same five maps about fifteen times. If you like doing the same chores over and over again, this is the perfect game for you. If not, avoid it

A pretty hesitant recommend because there's a lot wrong with this game, but I had fun with it anyway. Things wrong with it: * The unlock progression is slow and requires extra work in each level rather than just being organic (you have to actively mine gems with your limited time). Would be nice if finishing a level in a smaller number of turns also had gem rewards so you could get them a less menial way. * The tactics aspect is largely busted because after the first few levels the…

This game is like Into The Breach, but not quite as good. You play on a small tile-based map. You control 3 characters, You take your turn and then the enemies take theirs. Only, you don't know what the enemies are going to do, the attacks are not telegraphed. And I think this is the biggest flaw of this game. You can't tactically position your heroes to juke attacks. You can't make a calculated sacrifice to protect your most vulnerable hero. You can't plan ahead, every turn is a dice roll…

Despite how surprisingly fun the game is, won't recommend it due to how ridiculously buggy everything is, Bugs range from mild annoyance(unable to attack/move but fixable by quitting and reentering) to game ending bugs(lowered stats for the rest of that run from restarting after death). Even the save and quitting is a horrible solution to bug fixes since the enemy drops that are on the ground won't be saved when quitting. Unfortunately, these bugs are super common as well. This is a really solid tactics roguelite. It can be a bit punishing at times, but you are rewarded with knowledge every time. Once I found a setup I liked, I didn't really feel compelled to experiment with different team comps. The variety in weapons, armor, and enemies is good. Forgotten Mines has pleasing aesthetics and is a nice little game to play on and off on the side. As a rogue like, I think it balances fairly well most of the time. After six hours of playtime, I didn't get unlocked a lot, but was quite pleased with my choices (tried a paladin with a knight and a white mage, the cleric also smashes nicely). Here are some examples of what the first fight can look like on Normal vs. Hard difficulty to show what I mean Normal Difficulty: 5 Mountain Hounds, they have 2 movement and 1 Action Point, so they can't move and attack in the same turn. Sure you'll have to die few times to unlock few helpful things, but without good strategy it's not going to help you that much. My advice is: pay attention to action points! This is a great game. It reminds me a lot of this old modular board/wargame, Maneouvre, by GMT. The layout is simple, but the replay is endless. Forgotten Mines is a much more improved, streamlined, and digitised version of that, to me. You sort of pick your pieces and then you have to have them survive the battle sequence before time runs out. It's pretty quick and clever, with the right amount of 'getting good' required to overcome challenges, which means there's some real strategy…

Great game. Love the classes and game play. If the dev keeps expanding the events, enemy types, field hazards, and item variety this would be a SOLID title. Only issue I really have is the meta progression. I feel like earning diamonds should also happen from bosses at least or random drops from chests. Otherwise you basically can't progress without doing grinding runs, and the runs have to focus on farming diamonds instead of actually playing the game and killing enemies.

Nice game! Like a mix of into the breach and the last spell. Looking forward to playing more, and especially once it's steam deck optimized. Couple of small bugs, but overall cool.

Fairly open and fun, one screen battlefield, focusing on positioning and maximizing action point efficiency. Gathering resources is also a key to survival, so killing foes is not always the top priority. Procedural generation and unlocks such as new units offer replay value.

It's unforgiving but addictive and really satisfying once you get the hang of it. Could benefit from some QoL improvements, and I recommend backing up your saves as I did lose some progress due to a bug. But underneath all that there is a really great and deep tactics game.
