60 of 61 · most liked firstLovecraft's Untold Stories 2 is game that should not have been released, even after being delayed multiple times. The developers secretly removed the cooperative feature, which is a sly move on their end. The game as it stands now is riddled with bugs, janky mechanics, quality of life issues, and should not be purchased as is. It is an insult to the fans of the first game. Pros: Artwork looks nice Cons: Artificial difficulty, Sluggish and clunky combat, Numerous bugs, Removed cooperative…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first Lovecraft Untold Stories was a blast, unfortunately i can't say the same of the second entry. Starting by the balance, which is pretty much none, whereas in the first game there was clearly a difficulty curve, on this you start and already get surrounded by mobs and mobs of enemies that can cause bleeding or poison with a single strike. Scarcity of health items don't help either. The movement of your character, at least the detective, is not very fluid, and since you cannot dodge…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would avoid this one. It's nice to look at but ultimately suffers from a number of mechanical flaws on a fundamental level (read movement, combat feeling good...the very basics) that really should have been noticed and addressed prior to release by even the most cursory of internal testing. Movement feels clunky and frequently sticks to the overly cluttered battlefield objects. None of the attacks received or given seem to have any weight or feedback to them. Environmental hazards frequently…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've bought this the second it showed up. I played the previous game a bunch of hours, but it had some pain points, I assumed this one would only improve on what the last one did good and also fix some of the mistakes of it's predecessor. Unfortunately the game feels worse in many aspects. Somehow the isometric view doesn't work, at least not the way it is currently implemented. It's very hard to gauge where you can walk and where you can not, and the way the movement works, if you try to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have been waiting for this game for a long time. The 1 was a great game, which I fell in love with, but I can't say the same about this one. I bought it as soon as it was available on Steam and I'm really disappointed. Full of bugs, there is no information about anything in the inventories, the player's hud doesn't mark the sanity, and so many other things. I hope they fix it soon, I feel as much disappointment as with cyberpunk 2077 :(
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a busted, broken mess. The reviews you've read are largely correct, this thing is not well made. The graphics range from "meh" to okay. The gameplay is buggy and junky to the point where it's almost unplayable at times. The music is bland and repetitive. Combat is not very exciting. Crafting is a slog. Bosses range from completely unfair to very boring. Unless the devs do some very hard work in the next few months, this game is nowhere near worth the $25 price tag. You can find…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I understand that there's a lot of hate for this game at the moment. But I'm a rather positive fellow, so... whatever. Take what I say with a grain of salt. At the time of writing this, there are bugs, but nothing game-breaking for me just yet. The devs are super-responsive and I think we can hope for some good updates and fixes in the future. They genuinely care about this property - which is good, because so do we! Does it feel like early access? Yeah, kinda. It took me a quest or two to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gave a rather scathing review ca 3.4 hours ago and would like to revise that review. The Game has a rather steep learning curve and I had to restart the scenario 3 times before I had somewhat of a good run going. My initial thoughts if you wish to play this game is that reading the "how to play"-guide written by the devs is mandatory before you start the game. Some things are still a bit frustrating like the clutter of plants, boxes and furniture in the levels and that's only because you get…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Simple top down shooter with to many glitches. Enemies can kick you out of bound, force you to restart the stage. Items can spawn out of bound, can't be picked up, just annoying. Sometimes you get an enemy that can't be killed, you need to restart, as you can't leave a room until you killed all enemies. Sometimes you get a door with a wall, If it's in the way to the objective, you need to restart. When you die, you get a report and it mentions how you died. Well sometimes you die out of no…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →update: the first major patch dropped and nullified a lot of what i said in this review! the game is really enjoyable and the roadmap for updates is looking great. Everything people are saying in the negative reviews is true. The controls are slow and clunky. The enemies are faster than you almost making your dodge useless and you're constantly in a state of needing a bandage before you even wanting to begin to heal. I love it. now keep in mind I'm about 40mg of valium and a 8th into this game.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you enjoyed the first one, you will certainly enjoy this one too, they did fix the problems the game had when it launched, now you get the same sensation as the first game, with the particularities of the second one. There's still some bugs, but nothing serious. Give it a try, once you get the hang of it, it gets fun, just like in the first one. Update: I can confirm that you can finish the game without any problem, little bugs here and there, but really enjoyable game overall.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I, want to state I love this game, I love how it looks and I love its story, however... It has far far to many flaws to actually do it, first you can beat the detectives story almost literally right of the bat i did it within, 48 minutes which is almost unforgivable compared to the original game, secondly no replaying levels, it just artificially inflates difficulty in a far too punishing way, especially if you enjoyed that feature from the first game, Third, objects take way way to much damage…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was super angry with the initial release couldnt even make it past the opening area in a hour horrible buggy mess. I came back to it recently and wow it is like a whole new game its fun to play, its smooth. If you tried it on release give it another shot now, fantastic game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Looks nice, but the game is an unfinished and buggy mess, and pretty clearly abandoned by the devs. Buy the first one instead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just do not get the hate, I have zero issues with the game, ofc it is hard, but why does everything have to be easy? Once you get the mechanics down, the game is a blast. I am aware that it is not as good as the first game I will give the negative reviews that, but come on review bombing because people think they removed a feature without telling it? FYI they did, if people would just read, but sadly that is not the case on steam, people read a random post, and then think that is the truth…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Playing Lovecraft’s Untold Stories 2 was a miserable and joyless experience and I cannot in good conscience recommend it in its current form, even if you’re into rougelikes, looter-shooters, or Lovecraftian cosmic horror. The art style is pleasant enough, but the rest of the game feels messy and frustrating, with unsatisfying combat, tedious looting and confusing inventory management. A shame, really, because it could’ve been quite fun, had its ideas been better executed. For more honest indie…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →for god's sake if you're not an expert on 2.5D gaming then don't even bother buying it seriously, the controls are impossible
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First game was so cool, what can go wrong? Well, a lot of things actually Now it's a damn walking simulator with crafting and bad controls

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My short experience with this game involve navigating through narrow corridors filled with an abundance of tables and chairs and plants to block your way while also having dozens of acid, poison, spike traps on the floor then throw in a bunch of enemies rushing you while you navigate this mess of a game. characters seems imbalanced, items are mostly incomprehensible and you randomly die from sanity with barely a tutorial to guide you. did i mention perma death ?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After playing for a while I've decided to give a review. There is no doubt some negative issues here. But I don't think this game is as totally broken as some people think. IT IS HARD, very hard in the beginning. And I think some of the beginning characters show their flaws quite strongly. Personally I had the easiest time with Witch first. Professor was definitely very easy and Detective was the hardest for me. A lot of this was based on gear. Finding movement speed gear helped a lot…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →fun to play but always stuck / cant return base after getting alot rare loot ,sometime even main quest stuck as well , alot bad bug , always restart the game .kind of annoying. rate:2 / 10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is just a piece, a sketch of a game that was in development. Due to unknown reasons the devs had to rush abandoning initial plan, apply simplest and quickest solutions to game design that turned out to be a torture for a player. There is no way this game could be fixed with a patch or something like that. A mark of a fatal flaw lies on every aspect of a game except art may be.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was hoping for a more polished version of the first game and instead got this mess. Controls feel clunky, enemies just bum rush you at a speed you can't come close to and overwhelm you, grenade throwing is a joke, stay FAR away.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To all cultists. If you are a true fan of the first game and know that it was hard to beat even on the easiest of difficulties you know this game is hard. What the developers have done here with the graphics is a pure homage to Sir Lovecraft. I simply adore this game. Yes you have to die a lot in the beginning but if you look in the right places and after a couple runs you start getting very powerful items. The item drop also increases levels as you progress further into the game. I have…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Goblin brain sees shiny. Want pick up! Inventory full.. Goblin brain sad. Game throws loads of enemies at you. Game says doesn't let you rambo through. Cannot avoid enemies. Goblin brain confused.. Many deaths occur. Many more to come. Goblin brain adapt. Get important shinies. Git Gud. Get in the mode. Goblin brain happy. Continue blazing through levels. Upgrade gear. Blast enemies. Get bigger guns. Goblin brain agree:Is hard game. Is good game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Full review here: https://youtu.be/qVlaOrCiyUI I was expecting much more from this game. An isometric, Lovecraftian-inspired rogue-lite with beautiful graphics, but unfortunately with some bugs, glitches, and with scenarios too cluttered to maintain a fun flow of the fight. On top of that the difficulty is not balanced, with parts that are too easy, and others too hard for no apparent reason. The game is even very poor in explaining what it wants from us, with the oficial instructions given…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Refunded after my first play session. I quite liked the first game, this is... no where near that game in quality. The controller support feels awful, movement is sticky and slow, combat is unrewarding with weak weapons, spongy monsters and just tons of sticky, indestructible junk getting in your way in every arena. An earnest effort, but not one worth my time or money
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First patch dropped, game is still clunky and unbalanced... Imao the biggest problems are the dev - decisions about their whole game mechanics at all. I would say play the first LUS and skip this one!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like Lovecraft's Untold Stories 2, gave the devs benefit of the doubt that the game was thoroughly tested and good, but after 20h I came to a conclusion that the game is really not good, or at least not as good as the first one. Sure, the graphics are nice and a welcome upgrade from the muddy pixelated original, but that (and the story, which is more straightforward this time around) are the only good things the game has. Numerous bugs (buggy achievements not unlocking -…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The First game was awesome, so i had high expectations for this one. Sadly right now Its really hard to give a thumbs up. The combat is horrible, the movement is very stiff, enemies just gang on you, and you can barely see the traps on the floor. The art is very Nice ( i like the first game better). To sum up, It Pains me not recommend right now, but i am going to stay with the game and hope to write a positive review in the Future.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Clunky, lots of mechanical and gameplay problems etc.. was hyped about the game but yeah it's really not what I expected.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm recommending this game but I should preface this by saying that the mid and late game are a slog and are not enjoyable. The beginning of the game was great. You are trying to escape an insane asylum and all of these eldritch horrors and inmates are trying to murder you but you find a gun and you start mowing them down. The combat is a lot of fun too. The controls are very simple. You have a grenade, a dodge roll, and a button press to fire your gun and the game is really hard in that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →All other negative reviews are true. Gameplay is so slow, clunky, environment hard to navigate, too many hazards, even the very first enemy is much faster than you and causes bleeding and it gets worse. I am huge fan of prequel but this is disapointment of the year in current state.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The patches have solved practically every issue that the game had at release. It is very playable now.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game. Understandably difficult start, but once you figure out the mechanics, it's pretty great. Still has a little work that needs done, but I think it is a worthy enough successor to the original. Still sad about no co-op on release though...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like it better than the first game. It's nice that you don't have to beat the game on every character to see every ending, although it does seem that the game has 4 endings. That being said, the one I got seemed quite generic and unfulfilling which means I likely won't play to see the other 3. The patches that have been released since launch have done wonders to fix the bugs and make the story playable without any game breaking bugs. I'd recommend it, but probably wait for a sale unless they…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I missed some sort of of character progression. Graphics are nice but the gameplay is not interesting.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just skip it. Not worth a shot. Just a bad game. There are so many better roguelike games out there that are even cheaper.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you played allot of the first game, you will notice some big differences with 2. crafting causes allot more types of items to drop, but you still have the same small inventory, you will have to leave tons of items behind, but knowing which items to leave takes time. some characters will feel worthless to play, but again with time you will craft gear that turns their entire game around. the game also kind of lets u play who you want for the entirety of the game rather than each person…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I will say in comparison to the first game it doesn't quite feel as good as the first one but it's still good. Pros: - 3 of the characters are instantly available - The comic style for interactions and cut scenes are so nice - Animated BEAUTIFULLY Cons: - took away the looter shooter vibes with more of a find the treasure chest vibe. - The combat doesn't run as well as the first - The game doesn't feel like it changed much from the first to enhance the game-play. I will say again that even…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the way how craft is implemented. Spooky lovecraftian atmosphere. Horror. I recommend for those who like roguelike RPGs
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is still a complete buggy mess, had multiple runs where a store or something would freeze, wiping any progress. Icons not showing up, among other things. Just buy the first one, it's SOOO much better then this, so glad I got this junk on sale.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yeah, it's pretty terrible.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well if you liked the first one - you'll for sure like this one. I enjoyed the first one despite its difficulty, and this one takes the formula and just takes it up a notch. It implements Lovecraftian lore pretty well, putting a lot of emphasis on your sanity, giving you interaction choices with various objects you can find - that can either give you resources, heal you, heal your sanity - or drain it. There's crafting for consumables and upgrades, there's grinding for resources, and there's a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →*edit about a year later* Sadly the beginning of the game remains just as confusing. You wake up in an Asylum, chose your class, meet a nurse and then the main quest just tells you to "draw a picture" - this just doesn't make much sense, yes it leads you to an NPC and lets you get out of the level but why you are doing this or how your character knows to do this, is not explained. No change to the translation either. Gameplay remains alright, the art is nice. That's about it. */edit* Gameplay…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Broken. Full of bugs. Stay away.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is awesome so far, my only complaint is one thing the camera is super awkward, at least for me because its at a diagonal angle on the view of the game, it makes moving the character around difficult it also makes it hard to know when you've bumped into things because of this please make the camera angle how it was on the original, or an option to make it how it was before its very annoying to control with it that way :\ other than that, it seems nice so far although most reviews…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I saw this title getting blasted on reviews. I played the first one BUCKETS and loved it. This one's like that one, but more polished. The art style is super cool. Comic book panels abound. It's like #1, if #1 had an infinite budget :) I recc!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first game was a buggy janky mess. But I loved it. It was an amazing albeit sometimes frustrating game. This one just sucks. I don't know what I'm supposed to do, and I wasn't able to get into it. Maybe I'll try again sometime, but it's just so much worse than the original that I can't bring myself to like it. And don't get me wrong the original was a mess.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game apart from a couple issues. But you need to read the developer's guide if you want to give this game a fair chance. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2860219020&fbclid=IwAR3XuFRrHv7O_dnCXhl9c1L0WBVRQxmw78Mm2sOUjd6M46QJBrhpd-GC4hU It gets boring quick though, because the fighting mechanics are long and boring, there are still bugs, etc. If you like Lovecraft give it shot with 80% off during sale. 6.5/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So, Lovecraft's Untold Stories 1 is a needlessly hard as nails, grueling, arcade-y, punishing twin stick shooter survival horror rpg. I think I hated it more than I liked it, but it was interesting, and the parts of it that were good (such as the writing) were genuinely incredible. Probably not worth the suffering to play it, but definitely memorable. Untold Stories 2 is in the same vein, but all its issues are different ones. The pace of the game is slower, the art is fantastic, you can get…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nope. There's a fine line between 'challenging' and just 'unfair' if you ask me. This new entry in the series needs tweaking. Seriously. The combat , which is clearly a main aspect of the experience, feels equal parts clunky and awkward, especially when taking on an overabundance of enemies, which I should also add is nearly every 5 minutes. I loved the first one, and can appreciate change in direction or style. Unfortunately this one falls short. Really short. The visual aesthetic is fantastic…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Terrible, do not buy.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →they put effort in it, and its fairpriced, why i upvote it, but unfortunately its still clunky, and important details havent been fixed yet, which would make the game feel pleasant (like when you hover mouse over inventory items, pop-ups doesnt appear reliable and general stash/inventory management)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first one was awesome. This one was fun to play as there was an improvement as playing as the witch. In the first game, the witch was my least favourite of the characters. But here, she was my favourite. It was enjoyable to play with a wide selection of characters. I wish there were more enemies and bosses like in the first game. I enjoyed my time with this game nonetheless.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was alright, but I think the game needs more work. The end is a little confusing and kind of anticlimactic--not really what I was hoping for given the content of the first. There's no Great Old Ones boss battles you can work your way up to, it just ends with the "artist" boss battle. Plus I hadnt found all my blueprints yet--so I just start over again and hope I find them this time? The side quests are probably the best part of the game, as you can just keep doing them as many times as you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A Fantastic Lovecraftian Adventure! Lovecraft's Untold Stories 2 is a remarkable sequel that has truly upped the ante in terms of atmosphere, visuals and gameplay. One of the first things that struck me was the meticulously crafted atmosphere. Gone is the pixel art of its predecessor, replaced with a stunning isometric comic book style reminiscent of the works of Mike Mignola. This change in art direction adds a whole new layer of immersion to the Lovecraftian horror experience. The music…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the game have some problems with controls , in-area map and the invetory need some rework , hope some patches will help the art is amazing
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to wait to finish at least one story but I have to get this out of me... Like everybody else, I also say the first game was wonderful, one of my top 5 videogames, I didn't even mind the bugs that much - but this is a train wreck. The art style is quite nice, even though the design of most enemies look like action figures from the 90s. And now we already go to the bad things. Remember the destructible environment object? - Gone! Now there's so much clutter that is…
