It is not your usual moege nor an otomege in fact I was quite a surprise for me since I did judge it from its cover at the start and I did not expect much at all. Magical Eyes - Red is for Anguish is developed by POMERA Studios and publish by Fruitbat Factory It has 1 ending but has choices, choices that use a reasoning…

Target Audience: Supernatural Mystery Visual Novel Fans who want a world with Strong Future Potential Video Review: https://youtu.be/gxxaF8K4-WM Summary: Those looking for a game in the supernatural mystery genre will find something interesting in this series regarding the Disobeyers, the Variants, and the world that is built here by Pomera Studios. While the plot starts off really slow, even for the Visual Novel…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Okay, first things first: this is the first and only game in an abandoned series from 2016. Lots of questions introduced in this game go unanswered - we never even get to know anything about the main characters backstory, something that would be very interesting to know considering his character. Secondly, I had a hard time getting invested in the story. It's a mystery game that I suppose should be pretty suspenseful, but nothing is ever at stake for the characters which makes the game kind of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Time to review this amazing game! Magical Eyes - Red is for Anguish is a visual novel. A horror story with a bit of humor, to be precise. I can't stress how well written it is. On par with some of my favorite books. Of course, since this is a "game", you get the added bonus of lovely anime art and some pretty darn good music. In fact, it has a strong anime feel to it including its own beginning and ending theme songs. Some would be tempted to place this game in the kinetic novel category…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A polished, shortish (about 5 hours to 100% if you're a fast reader) supernatural mystery game. Generally good quality, lots of nice sprites and systems (if somewhat underused). Good pacing and flow, mix of humor and drama, and better fight scenes than I'd normally expect in a smaller game like this. The backgrounds are a little undetailed 3d but I dont think that's a problem. The game is a complete story in itself, but it's also a first episode setting up for future stories in the same world,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A 15€/$ visual novel? Well, for sure it's something we don't see that much. For what concerns the few achievements, without a guide it can be completed within 4-5 hours while if you're skipping all the text and choosing the right things to get the perfect answers.. well, it can take one hour or so. But we're not here for that. Even if the game has all the things a visual novel should have - galleries, skip option, save/load buttons and so on - it has also some traces of map exploration. Most…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved the story, characters, voice acting and art plus the music was nice too. Since this is only chapter 1 (one case) there are still a lot of unexplained things but at least it didn't end in a cliffhanger and the case was very interesting and tied up neatly. Definitly gonna get the next game once it's out. p.s Damn you Tamura for making me teary eyed 3 times in a row! I'm either being sensitive or very empathetic towards the character
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story does take a moment to really get going, as it is setting up the world, but once it does, it really takes off. This is part one in the Magical Eyes series, though the story itself is self-contained. Think Fault:milestone one in the way the story grows and comes together at the end, but without fault's obvious cliffhanger. The production values are quite good. I'm not sure what to praise more - the character art, the backgrounds, the music or how dynamic some of the scenes are. It's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →3/10 i made it father into the story than most + music + prologue + japanese voice acting for small amounts of the story - the rest of the story feels all around low effort - auto reader keeps turning off for no reason.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A nice mystery/supernatural Visual Novel.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i will base my review, on just what ive seen so far, since what yuo see from the beggining is what you get in a visual novel. Now lets get to the selling points. A. The narrattive and the narrator: The narative is pretty well paced, and the writting that its ofered in each scene is of high quality. the naration uses a very soothing female voice, and shows profesionalism, as in athe fact that they scouted a good voice actress. B. The Writing: It is well done , and well paced. The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hold down Enter to skip the boring parts (which is everything). Look up the scenario guide in community for getting the achievements. Pictures will be unlocked under Special in the title menu. You're welcome. Hollow characters, awful writing, constant switching between first-, second-, and third-person narration, and very flimsy plot. I actually tried reading a good chunk of it before I just straight up skipped to the scenarios and the ending. The beginning doesn't tie into the "first…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In Magical Eyes - Red is for Anguish, The Disobeyers are a organization of people that protect their individual area from Variants. Variants are people who died leaving a fervent wish unfulfilled, or a material object that was so strongly influenced by emotions that it became supernatural. You play as Yuu, a member of The Disobeyers. Strange things are occurring and a stranger incident has happened in your area. Every day there seems to be a new body, gather the clues and find the killer!…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Look, if I hadn't gotten this for free, I wouldn't have bothered. Visual novels are boring and dumb. This one wastes your time with four separate intros that tell you jack about the story, then it has the gall to give you a tutorial on how to 'play' after you've already been doing it for twenty minutes. I also love how they deftly separate the story into "the part that matters" and "the part that doesn't". And I just adore how the characters keep on yammering after you've scrolled past their…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Magical Eyes-Red Is For Anguish is a VN in which you have to find out why these crazy events are taking place in town. So if u like mystery genre then u will like this VN. Just a small bit is that this VN does start slow. Once u get past the slow part of the game the VN will start to pick up. This VN u will play as Yuu, Chiharu, and another side that is ???, The ??? is for because u will be playing through other's POV. Although u will play more of Yuu's side in this VN. I really liked the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the vestige of an abandoned series; the tiny number of reviews demonstrate why. It starts promisingly enough. There is decent world building and a degree of mystery. Some of the characters are great - Pops and the kids in particular - and the food-based humour made me laugh a few times. Although there's no English voiceover, the localisation of the text is very good. Unfortunately, the core of the story begins to drag after a while. There is no real sense of risk for any established…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty good underrated visual novel. This game was a fresh mystery visual novel and kept me entertained. This game only has one ending which means that you will not get to choose but the storytelling is done well. It is really well written mixed with a pinch of humor. The music is great, visuals are good, storyline is fine, this game is one that I will definitely recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Magical Eyes feels like it has some strong ambitions but is ultimately just an average Visual Novel that feels like it was made on a very low budget. While essentially telling a complete story, it’s made extremely clear that this was supposed to be Chapter 1 of a larger story, which a couple of years later at the time of this review, has not panned out. That’s not to say there aren’t enjoyable aspects to this story of a murderous doll with motives unknown, and the investigators with…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked this novel and read through it pretty quickly, but I'm not good at giving praise, so this might turn out looking more like a rant. Let see... Well firstly, the novel had pleasant graphics and animation. They were a bit repetitive though, a standard in the genre I guess. During fight scenes the repetition almost got disturbing however. Also, a more seamless fitting of the characters into the milieu would be appreciated. Or do people really just stand there in other visual novels as…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I swear to god when i just started out this game ,i was like OMG i wasted my money and time for this lil' ♥♥♥♥. BUT HEY ITS A GREAT GAME!! Everything is just perfect just that maybe it might be confusing for some ppl
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You won't play this for graphics or music, but the story is nice (and I still like some screens with the "culprit", not spoiling stuff for you here). Very little typos and such, which made for a nice reading. Get this for the story if you must.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Decent short novel, good first chapter in the series. The only problem might be that sequel might be never coming out due to the game being a flop. I still liked the first chapter, but if it bothers you, avoid picking it up.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Magical Eyes - Red is for Anguish is an excellent first entry in a series of visual novels. It tells a story of a group of people with extraordinary skills, dealing with trouble caused by human emotion. Instead of disappearing peacefully, the strong feelings of the deceased keep going, haunting and possessing those around them. The first chapter has the characters come across a mystery involving many disappearances and perhaps even murder -- all possibly linked to an ominous doll. Although Red…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Meeehhh.... The writing and music are amazing, the graphics are decent, but the gameplay is very, very bland. Even for a VN, the gameplay is lackluster. You don't choose anything! All the player does is freshen up what's happening with unnecessary pop quizzes. But maybe I'm just a VN noob.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Magical Eyes - Red is for Anguish is a great mystery visual novel about supernatural events and people with super powers. It's also a nice introduction to what seems to be an episodic series. The game contains a prologue that sets up the world and main character and the first chapter of the game. Chapter 1 focuses on one big mystery about a doll that has been spiriting people away. One of the things I like about the game is that it keeps changing perspectives - the game focuses on the main…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing visuals and great lore, this novel will catch onto you and never let go till you're finished, the mystery factor of the story is absolutely amazing, make sure you play till the end!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Magical Eyes - Red is for Anguish is a supernatural visual novel developed by Pomera Studios and published by Fruitbat Factory. Built around a blend of mystery, horror, and psychological storytelling, the game invites players into a world where emotions possess extraordinary power. Rather than relying on jump scares or action-heavy sequences, it focuses on unraveling a layered narrative filled with tragedy, secrets, and morally complex characters. Its premise immediately distinguishes it from…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →On one hand, the characters are good, the action scenes are well written, and the setup is intriguing enough. On the other hand, this is clearly the first episode of what never became a series. Though the main thread has enough closure, many other threads do not go anywhere, and because of that some characters which are presented as important end up being nearly irrelevant (and, as it is, a few scenes are so unconnected to the story, you have no clue why they are present). It is actually a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can spend an afternoon reading a novel just fine. Really don't understand the appeal of visual novels though. Incredibly boring
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Magical Eyes is supernatural murder mystery visual novel. Its about high schooler who is part of organisation that is responsible for handling incidents caused by certain supernatural entities called Variants. The story revolves about certain doll and disappearances happening around her. The beginning might give you impression that this is going to be story about fearless superhero and girl chasing him, but fortunately this isn't the case. Things calm down and everything appears mutch more…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →玩着不像16年的游戏啊,翻译的也一般
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Magical Eyes - Red is for Anguish is a slow-paced, supernatural crime-solving kinetic novel. The only interaction the player has is the Reasoning Mode sequences, which only give you more insight into the story. I haven't finished the whole thing yet, but there seems to only be two chapters (chapter 0 and chapter 1) and one ending for the novel. $16 is definitely not the price this game is worth, considering that the game only has a few characters and that is the only real artwork in the game.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved this. The story line kept me entertained all the way through. 10/10 and works like a dream on the steamdeck ♥
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Despite being the first part in an abandoned series, I still recommend it. The first chapter still stands as a solid individual story
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →✔️ Played on Steam Deck, it works fine (10/12/2022). You need to use the touchscreen to advance the text tho, A button doesn't work. I liked it but where is chapter 2 D:
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very well made story. Truly a pity that the studio involved hasn't had any news since 2017. I would have liked to see the continuation of the story, "Indigo Blue Heaven," but it seems like it is not to be.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For me visual novels are hit or miss. Since they all have varying degrees of interactivity they must have an engaging story. I missed some achievements and probably did not make the best choices but I am pleased in the end how it turned out . I did like even through for the most part the interactive was low there was parts like the reasoning mode that made it worth while. I do wonder why I had to click back on the same scenario when it was the only one. It is a decent visual novel that after…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A unique visual novel with a new take on a story that draws you into its mystery and the stories of the characters. Has some gameplay moments as well and has some side paths to discover too. Well written and cant wait for the sequel if it ever comes (Hopeful that it does) Well worth playing
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An interesting kinetic novel (like a visual novel but without choices, so more like a regular story) about a girl, a giant spider and manipulation. Also other stuff, but I don't want to ruin it here https://youtu.be/LfhHNTyCKlw
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I absolutely loved this VN. At first it started off slow. The character building was great. Surprisingly the love interest was not as interesting though I'm hoping to see her fleshed out more in the next chapter. This is definitely worth buying. The soundtrack was amazing and as you read some of the terrifying parts the background sounds really help make you feel more tense. The voice acting was fantastic. I am a big fan of Higurashi series. And this was recommended to me and I'm so happy I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall a pretty good visual novel, it kept wanting to keep reading through to the end to finally figure everything out and it had a good payoff. It was fairly short, only about eight hours but I think it's a good length as many of even the best visual novels feel like a chore to sit through due to their length so I like visual novels of about this length. It's a good visual novel to start with as it's fairly cheap and even someone who hates dating sims or hates the idea of them can probably…
