60 of 108 · most liked firstThis is a budget first-person shooter made mostly by one person. Quatermain looked amateurish at first and didn't give a good first impression, but it improved as it went along, especially in terms of level designs which I often found surprisingly well done. This 3D engine called Easy FPS Editor looked like something between Wolfenstein 3D and Doom. In fact, the game had a strong Wolf 3D vibe but with actual outside levels and elevations. Graphics didn't look particularly good, but they were…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You can't save during a level which means you gotta replay the whole ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ slog again if you died near the end because a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hitscanner got you. Badly designed in terms of balance which is unfortunate. Edit: My savefile got corrupted during the final boss, the game is quite buggy sadly, I gave up then. Already had to replay multiple levels because I got stuck in the environment, weapons disappeared on me, etc. Cannot really recommend although the setting, wacky voice acting and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good old school fps, probably the best so far from the DOSMan Games as publisher. Weapons are fun to use even though the weapon balancing is a bit odd as the starting revoler is one of the two strongest weapons while the machine gun which is one of the last weapons you find is quite underpowered. Game length is quite high with about 6 hours, high enemy variety and the price of it is very fair. A small downside I see is that the game is giving too much ammo.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is now the gold standard for EFPS games and the crown jewel of the DOSMan collection We have: -Achievements -Mouse invert (finally!) -Secrets galore -Tons of massive levels with varied enemies -Treasures to stack in your own museum -Fully voice acted -Some simple, yet fun cutscenes -Reliable quicksaving -Bargain price The EFPS engine has really come a long way in a short time and is obviously a real labour of love. The only major improvement I can think of is for a Doom 1…

unlabelledView post →I'm on the fence about this one. I was enjoying it well enough at first, it feels very Doom-like. But then the levels were getting longer without checkpoints, the health powerups were getting stingier, the enemies were getting more reliant on hitscan attacks, and I felt I was done with it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The most impressive EFPS engine game to date! It's got a moving train level, custom death animations to the shotgun and so much more! https://youtu.be/zdqBqZjoGfg
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →By far the best title published by DOSman Games so far. Well worth the money asked. The weapons and enemies feel good for the most part, the levels look nice and are thoughtfully designed and the VO is well done (I'm particularly happy that the German voice lines were done by an actual German). The secrets mostly have the right amount of difficulty to find, a handful were needlessly cryptic though. The story and humor are campy but that fits well in the setting. The balance between the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun game that's something of a mix between Wolf 3d and Doom map-wise, but be aware that it's rather buggy. I didn't encounter any truly gamebreaking ones, but the most annoying ones I did encounter were: 1. Losing all my weapons & ammo when respawning after death on one of the last levels. Thankfully there's enough weapons and ammo in starting room to get started 2. Game options randomly resetting - such as weapon recoil becoming disabled and only way to re-enable it was restarting the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is another DOSMan retro billboarded Duke Nuke'm 3D ripoff boomer shooter, a short, rushed out, somewhat jokey (check out the terrible voice acting) effort where you take on the role of Quatermain and experience another amateur developer abusing the public domain for profit, which doesn't make this garbage game better, but it does make the public domain they ripped off somehow worse. On the upside, the game does feature customisable controls and resolution, so at least some of the basic,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Awesome spritework, awesome music and sound, satisfying gunplay. The golden triumvirate of FPS!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →another fun dosman game :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To be honest, I used to stick my nose us at Easy FPS engine games. I figured they'd all play the same and there was no room for innovation or true expression. This game has proven me wrong and I will be checking out more eFPS games for sure (especially Dosman games ones). To start with, all the guns feel really good. The starting revolver is hefty and impactful, and is useful from start to finish. Other guns are fun and offer a great bit of variety, I found myself constantly weapon switching to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Indiana Jones plus HP Lovecraft Boomer Shooter. The main gimmick of this one is that you can right-click to fan your revolver starter weapon, which does increased damage than normal. a lot longer than the other DOS man games, but can still be completed pretty quick.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My first impression of this indie game is that it provides for a horrible acronym. However, despite this glaring flaw, I have so far thoroughly and passionately enjoyed Quat Coc. The art style, level design, and combat, is clearly reminiscent of '93 DOOM, and '96 Duke Nukem. The gentle auto-aim provides for satisfying kills without feeling too hand-holdey. Additionally, the Dev's obvious obsession with Easter Eggs, 00's memes, and occasionally insulting the player, provides the perfect recipe…

I, Aloysius Quartermain, have killed nazis, robots, Lovecraftian horrors, monsters, dogs, soldiers, anything that moves! Quartermain and the Cult of Cthulhu is a weird little boomer shooter, but it's a pretty good time! It's definitely a love letter to Blood, Wolfenstein and DOOM, with obvious inspiration.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A full-blown Lovecraftican x WWII-shlock FPS game for just THREE dollars?! Satisfactory. Quartermain and the Cult of Cthhlhu is a Retro FPS developed by ThePrinceOfMars and their co. and published by DOSman Games. Running in the EFPSE Engine, it follows the titular Quartermain and his merry crew as they seek out a magical artifact , said to be able to transport entire armies to wherever they desire. But unfortunately for them, it's the 1940s and THOSE losers are back at it again meddling with…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →super awesome game. would absolutely recommend for anyone that likes old school shooters or Indiana Jones style games. also i would like to give a shout out to the developer for fixing my issue promptly so i could finish the game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DOSMan is extremely consistent as a publisher, and this game, developed by The Prince of Mars, is among their best! It's easily the longest DOSMan game, taking me just over 5 hours to complete. There's great enemy variety, the weapons all feel like they serve a distinct purpose, and there are enough different zones in the game the levels never feel repetitive or boring. The enemies are extremely satisfying to kill, and the movement feels great. I had an absolute blast playing from start to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As if Wolfenstein, Alone in the Dark and Indiana Jones had a weird, crazy but cool child. It's that simple, a few keybinds, some guns, some insane cheesy cultists "CTHULHU FHTAGN" and a lot of charm ! The music is really nice too in putting a mysterious tone to the game ! I just started so I don't know much about length, but it's quite good and fun so far, especially for 3 bucks !
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played several Dosman games and this is by far my favorite. Like all of them, it's scrappy, very rough around the edges, but it's got heart. Enemy designs are fun, weapons feel pretty good, and I even liked a lot of dialogue and voice acting. None of it is stellar, but I had a good time. Biggest criticism would be the balance. A few particular weapons feel almost useless, including the later game chain gun. The Priestess enemy is also a huge pain in the ass, with way too much health, and…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →so this is the first indie game I give a thumbs down. The setting is in ww2, and you would belive it with all the nazi soldiers high on amphetamine and moving three times your speed. Too bad the allies didn't supply you with some, like duke. The levels are overstreched, copy and pasted to hell, and without a map to help you, it's running around in circles. If only I could quicksave, or save at all, since I try to find some secrets on my obligatory backtracking, but no, get stuck on geometry…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's pretty good for people who play boomer shooters on hard. It does have bugs which were annoying but not game breaking for me. The pro's. Its got voice acting which is surprising given how much it costs, the weapons do feel like they have a reason for using instead of just using the most power full weapon all the time. Which also wouldn't work because you would run out of ammo on one. Not to say that ammo is a problem in this as you get quite a lot across the weapons. Level design is good…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Video Review: https://youtu.be/JQwlY3vmtEQ This game's inspiration is worn clearly on it's sleeve. As someone that grew up playing Wolfenstein 3D and Doom, this game delighted me. It gave me that same tense feeling that a threat lurks around every corner. It's fast paced action is fun and twitchy. Plenty of different enemies to slay, varied environments and a goofy story with some comedically PS1 era level of goofy voice acting. I ran into a few issues pre-release that the dev squashed with a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lots of story and gameplay! Definitely a lot of fun! Still got a ways to go but I really enjoyed what I've seen so far! Really a lot of fun!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game almost feels like it comes from an alternate history timeline where Ken Silverman (creator of the Build engine), the people who developed Blood (1997) and Sandy Petersen (Lovecraftian influences) join id Software immediately after Wolfenstein 3D is completed in 1992. Consequently, id Software develops this game as a sequel to Wolfenstein 3D and Spear of Destiny and the development of Doom and Doom II never happens. Now, back to a more serious review. The levels of this game look like…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For it's low price, there is a surprising amount of good content. I will say some of the enemies and weapons felt a little strangely balanced, the heavy machine gun was a weapon I ended up not really using because it felt so weak in comparison to even the colt, a full mag isn't even enough to cut down a thunder mage. The shotgun is bafflingly inaccurate and can't be used to cut down swarms of enemies, unlike the shotgun enemy's version which is just a tight burst that deals quite a bit of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yeah, it's trash, but it's fun. For thee bux you can do a lot worse. This game captures a lot of what made 90's corridor shooters fun, and a lot of what made them forgotten. The arsenal is doom clone in the wrong order. The levels are abstract at best. Enemies are seemingly dotted all over the place. Don't take it seriously, and you will have a good time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What if someone released a good Indiana Jones game back in the 90s? And what if it was as good as best Doom clones of the time? Here, you have it, full of nazis and their wunderwaffe, as well as all sorts of cultists and ton of secrets, chef's kiss!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Video alt: Clip from my stream playing Quartermain and the Cult of Cthulhu, the end game character says I couldn't pronounce his name right as chat redeems a full screen redeem of a tie fighter with the sound of a screaming beagle, I do my best rendition after laughing.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very fun boomer shooter that's definitely worth checking out. It's interesting to see how far the genre has come with modern tech, ideas, and innovation.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this is outstanding honestly. its wolfenstein meets lovecraft universe. The weapons all feel and function great, good amount of secrets. fun bosses. the NPC audio is very dry BUT when have retro fps been about the quality of voiceovers haha. i've bought and enjoyed a few of the Dosman games now, and this is by far the best of the bunch ive played. At time of review my playtime is 5hours and i havent finished it yet. playing in offline mode so time shown is not accurate.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love seeing someone's Call of Cthulhu campaign translated into a video game, apparently with the players performing their characters. The pixel art is clean and attractive, with some creative renditions of Cthulhu Mythos stalwarts. Most weapons have a clear strategic niche. However, I'm never a fan of hitscan enemies--and many of the hitscanners in this game strike nearly instantaneously. It's the main downside to an otherwise fun and charming experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Solid old-school FPS. Clearly, a lot of time and effort has gone into it. The soundtrack is really good, and there’s a nice variety of enemies and weapons to use. That said, I did notice some questionable hit detection at times, and I wasn’t a big fan of the sections where you just fight waves of enemies — that kind of stuff feels pretty dull to me. But overall, it was a positive experience, and I’m truly impressed with what ThePrinceOfMars has managed to do here with Quartermain and the Cult…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I only played the demo but I think the quality is worth the $2.99. It's one of those small but fast-paced FPS games that quickly throws you into action, sending waves of enemies to take down. The map is fairly simple and linear, locked doors are marked with colored keys, and the key is usually behind waves of enemies. To make things easier, the key has words like “Red Key” displayed above it, so it’s almost impossible to miss one. Level 1 was easy - the enemies just run toward me holding guns…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gunplay is pretty good its an indie project but i kinda like it it has a good mix of enemies from cultists nazis and ELDRITCH DEMON ABOMINATIONS the flow of the game is pretty nice too and i look forward to other titles this team can work on to keep working And i didnt read too much about the game i just thought it was gonna be "oh no demons and cultist" and the nazi portion hit me like a truck and it got even more fun ill give the game another proper run and hope others can enjoy this as much…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A++++++++ this game is so good! I'm always shocked when a Triple A developer releases a piece of garbage unfinished game and then an indie Studio releases this amazing quality game for a fraction of the price! Every game from this company is fantastic. I own all of them and this one is so good I cannot stop playing it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In the depths where silence drowns, Cthulhu dreams in ocean’s frown. Tentacles curl 'neath timeless weight, Whispers seethe at reason’s gate. Stars shift wrong in midnight's dome— He stirs, and madness finds its home. No prayer nor light can cleanse the sea, Where sleeps the god that should not be.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very fun game, very fun gunplay, nice looking aesthetics
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Actually no wait there was one other game that sent me down the rabbit hole and that's the last one (Quartermain and the Cult of Cthulhu.) Hopefully that one ends up better than this one. (also the game from the first post is Night Jackal: Blood Debt)
unlabelledView post →Pretty fun efps game. Has a cool ww2/occult/sci fi theme. Nice voice acting. One thing I would ask for is the removal of text from the ammo pickups, it really clutters the screen. Other then that its a fun time for a low price.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best game DOSMan has to offer right now. Lovecraft Boomer Shooter
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My fav of the dosman releases so far along with the lengthiest. Large enemy roster with different attacks. The Nazi designs would fit in well with Wolfenstein. Guns feel good. Most maps are key based but offer verticality and some light platforming. Recommended for the cheap price.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall a good game. My problem is that I got to the final level but could never beat it, and this is from someone who beat Doom 1 & 2 on Ultra Violence difficulty. This game is not for noobs since the difficulty is pretty high and there is no difficulty selector on the main menu. There is no map system but the levels are designed well where they don't look the same which helps you to get your bearings. Be warned that most enemies move fast and some of them seem like they are hit scan where you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got the DOSMan bundle on Fanatical for a few bucks the other day, and I gotta say this is probably the best of the bunch. Really fun old school FPS. The other's are okay but this one is by far the best, definitely worth a few bucks by itself if you're old like me, or a fan of the genre.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game, along with all of the Dosman games, are horrible. Run terrible on Steam deck. No difficulty selection. Hardly any health or ammo. Enemies that beam you in a couple hits mostly because your health is always 50 or lower. Cause, again, HARDLY ANY ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ HEALTH. Don't even get to use the fun/useful weapons cause you get a couple ammo pickups per level. Terrible HORRIBLE games. This one is the icing on the cake as it crashed and now I can't load my save, or I'd have to start ALL the way…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quartermain and the Cult of Cthulhu is a bold, unapologetically retro first-person shooter that fuses pulp adventure, occult conspiracy, and Lovecraftian horror into a compact but energetic experience. Developed by ThePrinceOfMars and published by DOSMan Games, the game wears its old-school inspirations proudly, channeling the spirit of early FPS classics while carving out its own identity through an imaginative genre mashup. It is a game that knows exactly what it wants to be: fast, direct,…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A truly amazing retro-style FPS. Well worth the few bucks it costs.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Easily one of the best and longest easy fps engine games to date. it's stunning that it's still the same price as the other Dosman published games as you really do get so much more play time out of this. but yeah it has way more content than i ever anticipated, plenty of which i can spend 20-30 minutes per map (100% secrets, though some are shorter but there's a lot), a good variation of enemies and weapons, lots of detail and design put into the levels that do look and feel different from each…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →https://youtu.be/PAS8c0kxWMw Built towards a boomer shooter in style but the balance of weapons and enemies are out of alignment providing an incomplete experience.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Better than I expected. The game basically takes Wolfenstein 3D and mixes it with games like Blood & Doom. Quartermain and the Cult of Cthulhu is not the best retro FPS I've ever played but for the most part it's just a really fun game and quite lengthy aswell. The game does have it's problems like enemies getting stuck or you getting stuck. As well as the hitbox which doesnt always seem perfect. As seems to be with all DOSMan Games there sadly are no achievements which would make people…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →9/10. Little gem of a game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great great game. Shows what kind of stuff you can make with simple tools with a little effort and perseverance. The maps are fun to run through and the moment to moment gunfights are fantastic. There are some technical issues here and there just due to how the game was put together but they didn't put me off from the game. Lots of clever tricks are used from the limitations of the engine and I'm just really impressed they pulled this off the way they did.
