60 of 122 · most liked firstThis game has way too many good reviews and not enough bad ones. It's how I got tricked into buying it. This got very boring within (EDIT: apparantly, only 0.9 ) hours. I gave it two play sessions. Didn't realize how short they were because I just wasn't having a good enough time. You never need to use the buddy cop system, as your AI controlled partner is unreliable and often just gets gunned down. Beating missions gives you xp you can use to level up any cop you want, and you can just max…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Artificial difficulty all around. Thugs get harder to kill and have better aim at later levels and this removes the strategy aspect of the game. The game has no real AI all of the thugs just run at you and try to shoot at some distance depending on how hard the level should be. The "story" is uninteresting and not engaging at all. You have to grind levels and doing the first mission a thousand times is the best way to do it, which is boring as hell. If you like grinding and grinding just to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was playing on nightmare difficulty, because normal is extremely easy, the middle difficulty which I think may be called hardcore still doesn't present much of a challenge, and nightmare is extremely difficult. I found it best to use only one cop at a time, because enemies instantly snap and shoot your A.I. cop partner as soon as they see them. I only switched to the other cop to save time running across the level to clear other rooms of the building, because sometimes the A.I. in the room I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For lovers of Hotline Miami there's a lot of potential to be found in LA Cops, even if this early access release is pretty barebones. Yes, all of the agents are already available and the level that's been implemented feels complete. But at the moment it's pretty short and can easily be finished within 30-60 minutes. That number includes repeatedly dying and therefore replaying some of the sections over again. Let's keep in mind that it's an early access title, but I have to be honest, I've seen…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Stylish Starsky-Hutch take on hotlinemiami. Looks like an isometric but you can change the cam and has a variety of tactical options. This is a very tidy game for a top down shooter. Picked this up in early access with 2 levels and they've come along nicely. Think its time to pick it up again
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I LOVE IT! It's a realtime squad based tactical shooter where you can switch between two different cops with the press of a button and the AI takes over the other to shoot but not move. This means you meove your cop into position and face him/her in a direction to cover a doorway or corner and then move the other cop into position, leapfrogging and so on. It makes for fun, tense situations and surprises. Occasionally panicked shootouts occur but most of the time you feel like a badass…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →LA Cops does the rare thing of combining the worst of Hotline Miami and the worst of Resident Evil 5 without any of the positives. I was kinda interested in this game, seeing how it looked like a 2-character tactical shooter. Looked a bit like HM in that it had quiet planning moments interrupted by bursts of gun action. Seemed okay, so I picked up on the sale. The game looks good, the game does an okay job of telling you the controls, the difficulty curve is reasonable. However LA Cops is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is once again not my normal type of game but it was fun game to play. They capture the 70's theme very nicely and cut sence are nicely done, the AI are always different the 3D top down style does take a bit of getting used to and once you do it is easy to play. It is early access but the game has gotten some updates over its time and they are still in the process of doing more updates, the game comes with good amount of level's with more to come. I recommend this game on the fact…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First off I really liked the game on PS4 and got the platinum trophy. This port is sadly broken, when you complete a mission it will give you (n) experience and say civilians killed even on a map that has none. This makes it impossible to complete the game or even unlock all the levels. Checking the game forum for a fix leads to nothing and 2 years after the issue was reported the developer never fixed it or cared. Don't waste your money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No regrets that I supported the early access. Keep up the good work and support.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bad game if you can even call it a game. Completely based on random chance. Enemies can sometimes shoot you through walls that cannot be shot through. They can also turn around when you are sneaking up behind them, taking half your health or instantly killing you with no attack animation. AI is so bad that they will ignore compatriots being shot or apprehended in the same room as them. Or, if you are unlucky, come across the map while you are still working through the level and jump you. Your…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Please donate your money to a charity! Until they fix this game don't waste money on it. The AI is absolutely terrible and if you shoot at someone they turn into flash gordon and run to you skipping frames to the naked eyes, only with a super slow motion camera you would be able to see those guys move See the video to understand why http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=413284353
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have clicked recommend button, but I do have a few issues after playing the Early Access. I like the overall theme to this game, and I like top down games but I feel the camera angles could use some working, even with the player rotating it, I feel the isometric isn't working on the angle its on and causes cheap deaths. With this kind of game, I think they should either go with a hotline miami top down view or change the gameplay to an xcom turned based style game. There is a mix between…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is just one level out of eight but already you can see that the game will be fun. It's very much like Hotline Miami just with 3d graphics and two characters which makes the game a bit more tactical. I hope dev will go the 'tactical' path and add more stances, cover system and maybe like add automatic action system for the inactive player? It really Early Access. To be honest it's as early as you can get ;) I would say if you really like Hotline Miami and 70' cops theme and like to find…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, very Hotline Miami which is a good thing! Really awesome soundtrack. Tactical elements play out well as well. Recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Plays like a slower 2 character, tactical version of Hotline Miami with an isometric view, cool art and a very nice soundtrack! Rough edges abound at the moment, but worth checking out! Full review here! http://goplaythat.com/2014/09/30/state-of-play-la-cops/
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A unique game where you control both partner cops, one covering the other. The graphics are also unique and the 80's theme is a plus. Still a bit bugged and have few levels, but it sure will be an awesome game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →IN A WORD: AVOID IN SHORT: SIMILAR GAMEPLAY TO: Hotline Miami. WHAT TO EXPECT: Very short. Minimal gameplay. Minimalist art style. Fiddly controls. Fast, frantic action. Lots of dying and restarting. Local multi-player added post release. Problems completing final mission(s). ACHIEVEMENTS: BROKEN. STATUS: ABANDONED. WHEN TO BUY: NEVER. Unless fixed. More info below.... THE LOWDOWN: L.A. Cops can probably best be described as an inferior Hotline Miami played in an isometric view. The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →jule16 update: still bugged, achievements blocked, nothing changed for more than a year. Who ever praised this game? Except for being a good concept? Phony guys. Top-down-view shooter about "good" cops whacking and occasionally arresting some bad mobsters, intriguing by its 70' fuzzy visual style and cover-your-flank-partner mechanics. I'd like to praise that game, I'm really more into upholding law, rather than go frenzy like in the Hotline Miami or Hatred. But at current stage of game…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It seemed like a fun 70's cop movie/less psychadelic and seizure inducing version of Hotlime Miami that definitely worth 4-5 dollars so i picked it up in a sale. The story is a nice parody (with no reason for side quests without cutscenes). Everything else is a bit more problematic. - Movement is somewhat clunky - Line of sight not clear at times - Partner AI is bad - Enemy AI is set to swarm just to hike up difficulty - 1 hit kill grenades even on fully upgraded guys (it only needs a lot of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed LA cops. The action was smooth, the cut scenes are fantastic and I found the AI to be fine. Not sure if this is due to a recent update but I didn't experience any of that have been mentioned in the negative reviews. All in all I can recommend LA cops, especially if you like handlebar moustaches and shooting people in the face.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Having played and really enjoyed this game on XBOX i grabbed this on sale to get the achievements. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME! Not because of the difficulty or anything like that, thats all fine and the game is fun but its BROKEN! There is a bug that has still not been fixed or addressed and the devs abandoned the game DESPITE STILL SELLING IT! You are literally unable to finish the game. The missions do not register as finished and your kill count will continue to stop counting randomly leaving…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you want to play more Hotline Miami but already beat Hotline Miami 2 and you want the next thing to be a much inferior version with boring, done-a-hundred times jokes, a perspective that doesn't work with the gameplay because it basically makes you get stuck at every corner in the game and an AI-partner that's about as smart as a bag of hammers then LA Cops sure is the game for you. PS. The controls aren't good at all as they don't allow you to make any snap decisions.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is what Hotline Miami shouldve been. THis has so much potential and I cant wait to see the additional levels. Before buying I was aware that there were only two levels available and I made the decision to purchase to help support the further development. Normally I hate top-down shooters. But when they are done right - and this is done right - then they can be great fun. If they continue to expand on the game and not screw up the best attributes then this will be firmly set in its place as…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game breaking bug that hasn't been fixed for 5 years. A fun game overall but if the developers don't care about their product why should you?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very Good Intense and Fun game played it at eurogamer got home and bougth it can't wait for more levels and story is great thank you for your great game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a great 80s cop genre-laced, slightly isometric single player shooter, where you control two LA cops shooting and arresting your way through 6 extremely difficult, at times, levels. They also keep adding new features and fixing things, so Tean 17 gets my vote. I also have a soft spot for Team 17 since the good ole Amiga days like Project-X and Alien Breed. Then later ... Worms.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Original Review still at the bottom, but I had only one gripe with the game. It was too short. But the Devs have quickly fixed this within a month, and now there is some 5 20min levels. The game itself is amazing. You control 2 cops, move them both around and all, by switching in between them at will. The gameplay is satisfiying, the story is kinda...weird, but the levels are all great and will make you want to play them again and again. Also, the game has tons of nostolgia behind it. Plenty of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →WARNING: This game is broken and will never be fixed. DO NOT BUY IT! Steam shouldn't sell this broken game. You can't complete the last level of the game. There are 8 main missions in total. I completed 7 of them. But when I played the last mission, the game didn't save and didn't allow me to complete it. I tried lots of different things, but no matter what, the game shows the final mission as uncompleted. There are also bonus missions you can play, but guess what? You can't complete them…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Abandoned game with broken achievements and last mission. Don't buy this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As of now this is clearly a work in progress but it's already looking like a funky, stylish take on Hotline Miami. I appreciate HM but its psycho killer on a bad trip narrative isn't my fave. LA Cops replaces it with the vibe of a 1970s police drama. Love it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game should be paid for more development .as a early access game please support this project
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's look good on screens but playing it is just no fun, clunk, stiff, awkward, tedious nad not fun
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is clunky, repetitive and awful. The camera is garbage, every piece of terrain is sticky and frankly it feels like Team 17 strolled into my home and pitched a turd onto my desk, insisting that it was a game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After sitting on this game for a couple of years I finally got around to testing it, and thank god I got it on sale! It handles horribly, and it lack engagement. A disappointment even for 75% off.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Already loving this 2D isometric shooter! The badass retro 70s visuals, wicked Sabotage soundtrack and dual-partner mechanic are fresh additions to this genre. Difficulty curve is similar to Hotline Miami, but rewarding all the same. Definitely recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game. Has a lot of the Hotline Miami charm which is always good. Soundtrack is also flawless. In the beginning it is pretty hard but once you get used to the mechanics you will have a lot of fun. Totally recommend this ifyou like the great 70s feel
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really want to like this game but bad controls and unfinished mechanics try my patience too much. The aiming is sticky and terrible, and the awful 90s console shooter lock on doesn't help. Yes game, I *do* want to aim at the enemy behind a wall in the other room instead of the one right around the corner. There's some perverse enjoyment out of bumrushing thugs toting shotguns to arrest them, but it's not consistent when sometimes the AI just instantly turns around to shoot you in the face. I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well, after owning this game for about just under a year, I thought it was time to give some feedback... LA Cops isn't bad, BUT it isn't fantastic YET either. The game has always shown some promise, but it has took it's time proving it. I'm a big fan of top-down shooters - my all time favourite being Hotline Miami, as well some road-based ones, like Death Skid Marks. LA Cops is the soul definition of Early Access. I owned this when it was fresh in development, and it has improved alot! It's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What an awesome ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ top down action shooter! Great game. Totally reminds me of Hotline Miami and its awesome!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played this game for hours at Eurogamer London Expo.......got a free key and added it on steam... This game is a brilliant time-waster and losts of fun to play... even being stuck on a level is fun....in some way.... Maybe add multiplayer? Like two teams battling? That might be cool? 8/10 would reccomend: 9/10 Fun. 7/10 graphics (nice cartoony style) 5/10 story (but that does't matter) 10/10 catchphrases... ("MOOOOOVING OUT")
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Brilliant game, love the retro theme and very replayable.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ this game is fun!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →la cops is a cool different game but the pricing on this a horrible this game includes about 8 missions 3 side missions all taking about 10-30 min so thats about 4 hours of gameplay (alot of it is restarting the levels because YOU ALWAYS DIE) but other then that the game is fun and somewhat addictive final verdict 5/10 because of horrible pricing this game is worth maybe 4-5 dollars i payed 7.50 bucks and i feel like i still way overpaid
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Still a better cop drama than Hardline.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its like if you took everything good about hotline miami, and then took a sh*t on it. awkward controls that dont work properly, horrible fov, rooms so large you cant see the other side of them even though youre being shot from there, friendly AI is carcinogenic, boring unengageing "story" with no real charm or character, and a f*cking laughable price tag.. How you can ask for anything more than £5 for this pile of sh*t is beyond me. Save your money, buy hotline miami instead
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Playing from start to finish all in one day, I have to say it's a really mixed experience. Let's break it down shall we ======= The Good ======= - Idea/ Theme - The idea of playing a old style L.A cop in a top down shooter is a interesting idea. - Graphics - I do enjoy the graphics/looks of it, it's not over the top and doesn't feel awkard or painful to look at. Some might see this different but I do enjoy the look of it ======= The bad ======= - Friendly A.I - Having played this on the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You got to fight for your rig... Oh wait that's the wrong song, nevermind. But anyway, LA Cops is a pretty good game, hard enough that you should use careful strategy to complete the levels, but easy enough that brute force, try and die tactics could also be used.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i can't get achievements :( hope they fix that in the next update but in general its an awesome game with decent graphics
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's worth a purchase - but only once it's left Early Access. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j85o_UYZAlA&list=PLEPkhEaD-2l2vZTU1Yuu_Xow2dlB7DcXh
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →LA Cops' Nightmare Mode is challenging enough to keep the game play interesting. Unfortunately, though, this game is broken. You cannot complete the game to get through Chapter 8. I thought it was strange after completing it twice on Nightmare Mode and it does not count the last chapter. I scrolled through the discussions and apparently this has been a well-known issue since 2016. I do not recommend buying the game solely because of this problem.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game is SUPER fun. I personaly reccomend playing on an xbox one controller BTW this game DOES NOT WORK WITH A STEAM CONTROLLER U MUST HAVE AN XBOX ONE CONTROLLER FOR SUPPORT. but other than that this game is very fun. there is nothing more satisfying than blowing away enemies with a shotgun. however this game can also be very intense you will have to clear out entire rooms filled ( to the brim ) with the worst mobsters LA has to offer. and this is where all the stratedgy happens sometimes…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like this game. I love games where you are police. But the mechanics in this game are broken. Half the time you can't switch to your partner. Half the time your partner never actually covers you and you get shot. All times all characters get stuck in doors. The AI is terrible; their buddy can be dead or arrested right in front of them and they just keep walking in a circle. Half the time I can't even get one shot off before I'm dead and this is on the medium…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This kind of graphic is really pleasant and the OST brings you directly in the action. But some bugs are ruining the gameplay, for example when you die because your partner takes to long to react or when the automatic focus choose to focus an enemy behind a wall instead of the guy who is shooting at you.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →LA Cops Review Publisher: Team17 Digital Ltd Developer: Modern Dream Release Date: March 13, 2015 Graphics The graphics in this game are quite good overall, with clean 3D looks, and retro 70’s feel this game nails it. One of the biggest flaws that I noticed was in certain rooms the floor had lines that confused me and looked like walls, causing me to get shot. The destruction is nice with particles when objects and NPC’s get shot, and colors are bright and vibrant. With a steady 60FPS…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I see a lot of negative reviews for this game, hell even the cynical brit himself gave it a slating during his wtf is section, but I think it's time I say what everyone is thinking; These people need to GIT GUD. There is nothing wrong with this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ intense fast paced donut scoffing simulator! If you are dying all the time, level up, get some better guns, upgrade all your ♥♥♥♥ and see just how EASY normal mode is! I've played through the majority of the game already I just have the last…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has some interesting mechanics... i havn't played multiplayer yet and maybe that's just the strong part of the game; each one cop and then planning your raids over voicecomms... but the singleplayer has some flaws, though i was having fun the first hour into the game.. If your play this game with a controller, like i did, the game controls quite good, but placing your fellow cop is somewhat a problem as you have this fixed radius around your in which you can place your partner...…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →LA Cops is a game with simple, yet good and enjoyable mechanisms. The scenario isn't well written and makes no sense. Although in my opinion, the cutscenes are successful and really gives you the atmosphere you need. The gameplay itself is fast-paced and looks easy but if you do not plan your moves you'll find yourself hitting the 'retry level' button numerous times. LA Cops is a great game with a slice of 70's style...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is very simple but it is very fun to play but I wish there was more content.
