42 of 42 · most liked firstVery solid strategy title. Good unit variety, in depth unit stats and statistic effects from combat, challenging and varied battles bought to you in great graphical detail. Very surprised with the quality of this game, I am really enjoying it and definitely recommend it for fans of strategy games set in this Era.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →By far the worst strategy game I have ever played. Horrible graphics, long set-up for resolution and other options, no campaign map, bad camera control, and bad combat animation. For a 2010 release this is a poor excuse for a strategy game. If you want a good medieval srtategy with better overall gameplay get Medieval II: Total War. If you really want this game buy it when it is on sale not at full price, it's a waste of money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tactical game of medieval battles in 13th century Russia and around. Cavalry raids, archers on hills and spearmen behind bushes.... Using the terrain folds to outsmart ever-overnumbered enemies, maneuvering on the battlefield - is all what the game is about. Engine and visuals are decent, even if a bit dated. AI is quite nice, acting and reacting on your every move very adequately. Overall gameplay, however, somewhat lacking. I'm not a big fan of Total War series in general, yet I see some…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was not going to play this game today but seen all the mixed reviews . and the Negitive ones comparing it to Total war games. I have just about all the 1c war games , love to play them all . So I went and played this one . Quick learning tutorial since it has almost same set ups as the other games . Has a auto set up that you can click on to get best out of your computer. .. Next was little scared as it said Russian Ouch . Nope came through in English and was really glad I have plad a battle…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Too buggy for me, and I see that there are still no patches. Would have been a good game otherwise. Lesson: don't buy a game until at least 1 patch is out so you know then that there will be some support for problems.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't play the damned game. I have tried every resolution combination possible with zero luck. Every minute I have clocked has been devoted to just being able to see the game. No luck
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Refer to my review for XIII Century. It's like Total War, but without campaign management - just battles. If you want something surprisingly enjoyable (and in some cases without the lag), then give it a try.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TLDR "Real Warfare 1242" Review Real Warfare 1242 is a medieval strategy game similar to the Total War genre of games. This game was released in 2011 and visually it is a decent looking game.Character models, enviroment detail and scenery is still to this day good looking in my opinion.Unlike Total War games,Real Warfare 1242 does not have a campaign map and features only large scale battles between various factions. This game has only a handful of scenarios available and even those handful…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unplayable on WIndows 10. Disabling antialiazing got me to the main menu but anything I Do after that just crashes the game with no error message.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you find the game displays only black on screen, then turn off HDR lighting in the effect options.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's scenario based combat like the scenarios in total war. As a game, it's actually playable. It's basically total war, except not as good. If you've played out total war and need more battles then this game is ok but it's for hardcore players only I think. I had the settings to max and it was stuttering a bit so I lowered them and then I could see the terrain all looked kind of like squares, so it doesn't really run well. Bonus points for the mongolian throat singing music, I enjoyed it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So many people have compared this game to the Total War games (of which I own all and have spent a fair chunk of my life playing ) but that is rather unfair.People realise that Mount and Blade Warband Viking Conquest is a different game than Attilia, Kingdoms or Barbarian Invasion and so is Real Warfare 1242 diferent than Med2. They are very different games.I acknowledge the game may not exist if Med.2 didn't but it's still an interesting period of history and a quite complex old game to play…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rip off of the total war franchise. If you are looking for a game with horrible graphics, one voice actor and almost no stradegy element then this is for you. This game dosent even have a campain. You can ethier play a costom battle(which half of the time crashes) or lan. Who the F*ck Plays Lan. If you want to play a quality RTS then I suggest ethier Total War Shogun or any of the more recent instalments (Attila, Arena, Rome 2) do not make the mistake of wasting your money like i did,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bad game. Not worth any money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The gameplay, from the five minutes iveplayed, seems to be alright. Why i will not play anymore, is that during battle, everything is so freakin blurry i thought i was going blind. Apparently the world is always foggy.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Turns out it's actually fake warfare running on a computer. Man.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No matter what I can't even run this game, it stop in configuration window and even there I have like 2fps and then it crushed, any compability options, run as administrator or anything doesn't help, 1950x, 2080, win10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →FOR THOSE WHO USE NVIDIA!!!! When launching the game, go to configuration, effects, and disable HDR Lighting, it will solve the black screen problem. Other than that, pretty solid game, reminds me a lot of Rome/Medieval II total war, and it's cheap.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I know the first question you have in mind while reading this review is what's the main difference and distinct feature between this game and Total War? This game is much more a simulation than Total War series ever be. It has a lot of details to the battlefield that even one slight mistake can invite defeat for your side. Hardcore, very hard are 2 words that most suitable to represent this game. It is however ridden with low performance issues and the support for this game is no longer…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Broken ... so horribly broken.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I cant even open this game... I only get half the screen so the options to ''play'' are not available...I have fooled around with different settings and nothing happened since the buttons to activate those commnds are presumably off screen as well. Plenty of people having problems with this game. Im running it on Windows 10 so maybe its not compatible?? and doesnt matter how many boxes I tick to contact steam for assistance I keep coming back to my starting point..... Steam help is like a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is pretty much the same game as XIII gameplay wise with different campaigns, units, and setting. If you are looking for more historical battles with preset armies this can scratch the itch. I feel neutral towards it mostly and don't see myself playing it too often but it's worth the dollar it is on a sale. I do like that you don't always control the whole army and sometimes only a segment of it while the rest is by the AI, it makes the micromanagement a little less tedious. Otherwise the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an RTS game along the lines of Total Warfare, but set in 1242 Saintonge War. Lacking the grand strategy element of Total Warfare, the game relies purely on the more tactical combat where you guide your troops against the enemies. Unfortunately the game has a few bugs and under my version of Windows 10 (April 2018) the game doesn't display properly, giving a black background and the unit shields only, rendering the game unplayable. Because it doesn't work, I can't recommend it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has some good potential, but for me it was unfulfilled. Positive is interesting graphic engine and idea of the game, but game mechanics are unfinished and buggy. I have encountered many unpleasant bugs, mistakes and errors. I am not comparing it to Total War, but there should(or could) be done a lot of work on this game, but it is obviously DEAD and abandoned by the devs. A bit sad. It could have been more successful.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not close to Total War! Not worth it, I hardly ever play it :(
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Total War like battle strategy game. No global map or any other distraction, only battles. For that, it is fun for its price, but nothing fancy. For me it runs well.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →besty like my testy
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tags: Tactical Additional Tags: Delete Local Content & Remove from Library TLDR: Outcompeted. Outdated. Total War lower ambition knock off. Love the time period. The maps and units look decent. However this is exactly like warhammer series games but without the map management and the extentive upgrade paths or policies. Just tactical battles with starting units and starting foes. The pathfinding is atrocious, units get stuck in everything. Combat AI i just as bad with units bunching up…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game would be fantastic if it actually had more of a free roam and more customization. Since it does not, I would not recommend it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This games fu%$ing ret%rded, tell your units to go fight someone and they veer off to fight someone else..... Tell the cavalry to return, they just randomly go wherever the fu$% they want. lol Waste of time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Real Warfare is a deliberately grounded historical RTS developed by Unicorn Games Studio and published by Fulqrum Publishing that places tactical authenticity and battlefield decision-making above spectacle or sprawling empire management. Set during the turbulent conflicts of 13th-century Eastern Europe, the game frames its action around the struggles of Russian principalities facing threats from Teutonic, Swedish, and Mongol forces. Rather than offering a broad, systems-heavy strategy sandbox,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rubbish, just stick to Total War games... -19/10 47-minutes, time lost of my life to this game. Health & safety warning, this game is like an unwanted sexual disease, it reminds me of chlamydia.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is mega awesome. All the bug from the past have been fixed and the game works amazing. My only complain is that it has too few missions and it seems there isn't an online server for it anymore. Pure war tactics where you learn the value of flanking with you cavalry to demoralize the enemy, kitting with archers while manually conserving arrows for later in the battle and cool round formations with pikemen in choke points. Don't be confused by the Medium difficulty, it's actually Hard…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i Love the Tutorial first game i played that has a Detailed play tutorial its jusy Awesome, got this one for think 79 cents, and the other one for 99 cent cant beat that at all.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a faking joke
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was greeted by an old friend upon opening the game... A friendly black screen....
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →unplayable framerate 15-20 fps FX8320, R9380 4GB
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →All is fine, if one battle choice is fine. I suppose that other possibilities open up once you finish this first battle. Which would be okay, I guess. Not ideal, but okay. Seeing nothing but the icons of your units moving about in a field of black on black is not okay.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Does it ever not snow in Russia? 5/10
