definitely a thinkers game, seems easy until you kill your own pharoah with a laser etc ( yup i got that achievement quite quickly ). And just when you think youve got it nailed and youve won, a simple turn of a piece ruins everything for you. Im hoping more people purchase this so you can get into online games instantly. There are varying starting layouts for the pieces or you can go random. The rules are pretty simple but as always in a game like this well worth reading them. Theres not a…

If you're like me and never played the game, the digital copy is very good to help get you started. Of course, not only can you not make illegal moves, but this copy comes with a handy instructional that can get you playing the game in about three minutes. This is a tactical, one move at a time, game that takes strategy into account if you want to win. So, while you may be playing in three minutes, you'll have a little time to learn how to best play the game. This game has local multiplayer!!!…

Here is my first play, early review and thoughts on the game! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxKDkEtmaVA Excellent game. It's a fancy and fun twist on the popular 'Chess" game and much easier to learn and the game typically moves a lot faster as well. Reminds me a LOT of a type-in game from the old COMPUTE! magazine back in the 1980s called Laser Chess! And ohhh did I love that game back then. So a modern day "Laser Chess" I wondered when I saw this.. I HAD to buy it. And I am glad I…

A friend introduced me to Khet and its variations and I immediately took a liking to the game. When I found it on steam I had to snag a copy! It's a deceptively simple game and great to play with a friend, casual matches are maybe twenty minutes in length. The digital implementation of the actual boardgame is straightforward and decently done. Legal moves are shown when picking up any piece, and the last moved piece for both players receives a gold-tint as a helpful reminder. The game includes…

First Impressions This is exactly what I am looking for in a game. The rules are deceptively simple. There are only a few kinds of pieces. It is "turn-based" so the speed and accuracy of my movements are irrelevant. It also stretches the mind in ways that echo chess or go. You can learn the basics quickly, but it would take a while to become "a master player." "Deceptively simple and delightfully complex" sounds about right to me. This is not the game for everyone. I highly recommend it for…

I've been playing this game since last summer and can't get enough of it. Very comparable to chess in complexity and learning curve. Other similarities include gambits, discovered attacks, as well as crucial openings. Unlike chess, you can take out your own pieces, and partly rely on opponent's pieces. A very under-rated game. Beautiful tactics, no limit to improvement. It is an absolute blast, and the Steam version is an excellent adaptation.

15/04/2015 I am not smart. I am not good at chess. I can beat the AI on insane difficulty. It glitches if you walk one of your pieces up the right [it's left] flank. It requires a [Edit 1]3rd party drm sign up account to play with humans. Taking me from the safety of my Steam Enclave Overlord is not something I want to happen. I'll recommend when they patch the AI 's script to a point where I can't beat the AI on medium difficulty. 16/04/2015 Edit: I still want to be able to play alone & be…

I was two steps from winning and the computer surprised me with a one move win on hard! Great Job! This is a great game. As a big fan of Go (igo, Baduk, etc.) this has a good number of qualities of the go game. First, its rules are simple. Movement of pieces is very simple and can be understood very quickly. The format of the game is quite logical and without reading the rules, it only took one or two games to understand all the movement and basic strategy of the game. Second, it has some…

A board game for people who want to do a lot of thinking - Killing your pharaoh with your own laser is pretty easy .... I managed to do it already in the first hour of the game twice xD. The game gives you tons of satisfaction when you manage to beat the computer even on an easy difficulty level - the problem is that it's a hipster product and it's hard to play with someone else (I'm skipping co-op or single-player modes). Well, it's hard for me to say more than it's worth. I can only…

The core game of Khet is amazing. If you like chess and other strategy board games, you will most certainly like Khet. Unfortunately, this digital version of the game leaves a lot to be desired. The game is very buggy, and crashed multiple times when I was trying to play an online game with a friend. Good news is, that my friend submitted error logs to the developer and he fixed most problems within a day. But there are still some lagging issues. For one, the game will always crash if you have…

I'd seen physical copies of Khet in local board game shops, and somehow the 'laser' aspect had managed to put me off. I liked the Egyptian theme, and am a huge fan of more abstract puzzle-style games such as chess, Go, and Hive. I bought Khet on a whim when I saw that it had support for Linux, and have had a huge amount of fun playing it. The game is very easy to pick up, and you quickly get drawn into plotting out future moves and paths. I very quickly beat the AI on the lowest two levels,…

Good Reproduction of the game Khet. I like the option of changing the speed of the laser. Graphics look a little rough round the edges, but this was never going to be a Graphic game anyway. The AI needs a little tweaking. I am not the best Khet player by any means, but had to ramp up to Hard level in order to get a decent opponent. Not tried out the Multiplayer option yet, but for the price of two pints of beer, I reckon I'll get my monies worth in playing this game

Khet 2.0 is basically a chess-like game, but with lasers and mirrors. It's quite fun to learn, but after you figure out how to beat the most difficult computer AI, there's not much else to experience. It used to be impossible to find a live game, but now there is an ability to play other people while offline, but I haven't had any success in actually finishing a game this way.

Another excellent video game adaptation of a popular tabletop classic. The AI is very forgiving on the easy difficulty levels, allowing new players to get acquainted with the rules without getting frustrated. The rotatable camera is a nice touch (middle mouse button). I'm really pleased with BlueLine Games for bringing us both "Hive" and "Khet" as both games are often played in my household. A very good concept and quick to understand too. The AI is rather simple right now, but the Devs are increasing the AI's level with each patch. Game works very well without any problems (So far ;-) ) The concept is to take out the opposing Pharaoh with your laser. To do this you bounce the beam from your Sphinx in your right hand corner into their Pharaoh. There are pyramids with 1 side mirrors, Scarabs with double-sided mirrors and Anubis 'Blockers' that can block the laser, but only from the…

Khet 2.0 is a virtual version of a "chess" like boardgame where, instead of capturing pieces and so on, you place your pieces to build a pathway for a laser to blow up the enemy. There's a few games like this on Steam, but this one is "officially licensed" which doesn't mean anything much, because it doesn't make the game better. If you look around you can probably find one of these physical games on Ebay or at a yard sale, which would be better value for money than this virtual version.…

This game is simple to learn but difficult to master. The hardest difficult provides a good challenge. It is very satisfying to line up a shot off several lasers and blow up your opponent's Phaoroh. This is my new favourite boardgame and I would highly recommend buying it if you're into boardgames.

I've played the original boardgame Khet, and this is just like it. The AI is actually a joy to play against as it appears to adapt to whatever strategy that you come up with. I've only played up to medium difficulty so far, (only had this game for a couple of days as of this writing) so it appears that the difficulty will be a real challenge. All in all, this is a well-done conversion from boardgame to video game, if you've played Khet in the past as a boardgame, you will like this one. I…

Plays a bit like chess where you move pieces and try to overtake the pharaoh in this case. Each turn laser shots from designated spots and you have to place mirrors so they can destroy opponent pieces. You can move any piece by one tile in 4 directions or rotate it so the laser reflect somewhere else. Easy to win with CPU on medium, not sure about other difficulties. I played only once to check out the game.

Usually, at every beginning it takes a while to get used with the rules (for me, as a chess player - amateur, the fact that most of the pieces are allowed to move diagonally, in contrast to chess 😄 ). Once you get over this, the game gives you fun moments and a lot of challenges, which require you to pay high attention right from the start. The difficulty increases with each level and this makes you become more focused. The idea of this game is surprising in the best way. Although it has by…

The digital version seems solidly implemented so good job. I love it when board games get digital versions because it's soo much faster to play them casually without a human opponent that thinks, a game you must finish in one sitting, and no setup. So I wanted to play a board game, but something new and simple. However, I did not want to sacrifice simplicity for complexity and strategic maneuvers. Then I found this gem. Very well done conversion of the boardgame. Quite challenging...Its a fun cerebral workout figuring out all the angles of both your own and your opponent's laser. The AI is very good but not perfect, but that can be said of any game playing AI. The Insane level AI still beats me on a regular basis which is fine with me. I definitely recommend this game to chess players and the like who want a different kind of challenge now and then.

The main game is good hence a recommendation. But could do a lot more in terms of options and the 3d engine is sluggish for what it is. A somewhat spartan graphics engine should be hitting a consistent 60fps on my spec yet it often drops below that. Even on lowered settings. C'mon devs, it's only a relatively small board with not a lot of pieces. Also, if you play with gamepad what's with the weird upside down pyramid you have to use to select pieces, that only works if you click on top right…

First of all I have to say that this game does not get the credit it deserves. I own the real board game Khet and the only difference in this khet is you can rotate the sorce of the lazer. Very good game but its hard to find players online who want to play a quick game with you .There are a few who play games that each turn can last 1-7 days, but whaiting that long is hella boring. Great game if you like chess or stratigy games in general.

Also the UI could be better, like when you want to rotate a piece, the rotation buttons appear in the corner of the screen, whereas they'd obviously belong right next to the piece. Have the board game too, but use this game to play alone and started to use this to teach my kids how to play (we are on one side, and use the game as the other). This way we can all be on the same "team" while they piece the logic together.
