No, really, everything in this old game is perfect. Balance is good, music is charming and atmospheric, the story is simple but catchy and the art is really cool. Also it's worth to mention AI. Despite second part, here you really have to fight, even on the easy level. Speaking in few words: You HAVE TO PLAY it!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Works on Win7 64 after manual editing of .ini file. The first game of one of the three major hero-based TBS series. The game has interesting visual style, awesome sound and music. It's a competent TBS with terraforming and simple utilitarian combat mechanics. The story is very good and the overall lore is pretty epic. The undead here are not a rеtarded reskin of daemons as usuall, but true undead, with their own agenda, not necessary "evil". Especially considering their origin story. Even…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its a great game from the old times. DONT BUY STEAM VERSION THOUGH. it is very unstable. i got dropped a lot, you will have to do file swapping before instalation and there is no steam integration, besides paying your money & getting a bugged instalation via steam...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It takes some time before running this old game on Steam.... Now I am sure it's playable, so I give it a "thumb up". (Thanks to this post http://steamcommunity.com/app/281450/discussions/0/613937943176590167/ Disciples has a simple game machanic and epic background story. It's one of my favorite games. Now it's on Steam. Still the same good old game! They did not even fix the occasional color problem, and the yellow "miss" are still everywhere in battles! Good memories XD Although I will…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Warning: this game is almost 20 years old. The graphics and gameplay is similar to Heroes of Might & Magic 1 and 2. This game could be easily fixed to work on Win10. Go to go to \steamapps\common\Disciples Sacred Lands Gold\Exe\ 1) Disciple.exe set in compatibility a resolution to 640x480 2) edit DISCIPLE.ini file via notepad: code DDraw=0 DSound=0 ScrollSpeed=100 and in and put your current installation path (ex. C:\Program files\Steam\steamapps\common\Disciples Sacred Lands Gold) I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Im very sorry to say, but DO NOT PURCHASE THIS GAME! I loved it back in the day but unfortunately this steam copy is riddled with bugs and should not be allowed for sale. I had to tinker with settings to even get it launching and even looking around the internet for fixes i still cant get it to go 10+ turns (about 10 mins) without crashing. Hearts were broken </3
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loved this game when I was a kid so I bought it for some nostalgia, and it really is something special to play this now when I'm 20 years old. If you happen to buy this and want to fix the little issue it has when starting with steam simply follow this: Go to your library and right click Disciples Sacred Lands Gold go to properties go to the Local Files tab and click "Browse Local Files" from there go into the folder called "Exe" and open up the Configuration file called Disciple.INI scroll…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TLDR: Graphics, music, and voice-overs are ridiculously cheesy and dated, but overall a fun game with a 1990's nostalgic appeal to it. Don't pay more than five dollars for it, and it will be worth the money. Pros: + Decent variety of units, spells, and abilities + Incorporates city building (even if not 4x-like) + Has some story (lore) to go along with the gameplay + Quasi-tactical considerations in building your groups Mids: * Music is very loud upon installation (fix in options) *…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a classic and well-made game. This game is one of my first played game during childhood. One thing i have to complain is the AI is too strong. Haha

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Damn nice game, be sure to change the install path from the disciples.ini to get the game working perfectly. For more info check the link below. http://steamcommunity.com/app/281450/discussions/0/613937943176590167/

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Have always wanted to play this after countless hours on 2 way back when as a kid and while the games differ slightly still same concept. The game feeling more high fantasy over dark fantasy like its sequel which isn't a bad thing at all just wasn't expecting it but that may be just the art direction but it's still great
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have reached enlightenment. This game showed up at my house mysteriously as a youth, probably a purchase from a grandparent when we got our first family computer and yet to get internet, so we mostly played cereal box games and tycoons. I always loved the art of this game, but never really knew how to play it properly. It was one of those games that every few weeks I would just pop it in and play a bit, then move onto something else. As an adult with kids, I was looking back fondly…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It desperatly needs an update for more modern machines. Its like playing in windowed mode with it a 4" window, only its set to full screen and outside the 4" is just black. Wouldnt recomend paying money for it unless youre a sucker like the guy typing this
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played this game a few years after it came out, but even then it was already outdated. The only reason why I played through some missions is because of the music. The turn-based aspect was also okay, however if you don't know about the Disciples series then you can skip this one and start with Disciples 2. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2403032099 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2150804714
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →WARNING If you couldn't run this game on Win 10/11 refer to guides/discussions or ask me in the comment section. It is a common problem but with numerous and reliable solutions. REVIEW It's a very addictive game. I didn't even want to complete it in the beginning but now I have 80 hours. I loved Disciples II in my childhood and played it dozens of hours 20 years ago. Some names and unit voice lines I remembered through the years but never had a thought to play it again because I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Disciples series has always been one of those I hold close to my heart. I started out playing a demo for Disciples II: Dark Prophecy and fell in love with that game's dark atmosphere, music and gorgeous gothic illustration used for the UI and character portraits. I then saw Disciples: Sacred Lands on a shelf in Circuit City. It seemed so unassuming sitting there among all the more recent titles. And yet it was that game that my eyes were drawn too. I paid the ten dollars for the game and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you are new to the series, don't buy this game and instead get Disciples 2. Why? Aside from the campaign, Disciples 2 is essentially a "remake" of the first game with added units, better graphics, quality of life features, and more polish. It is what the first game should have been. Disciples Sacred Lands is not a bad game, its just that it pales in features compared to D2.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For some strange reason this game runs perfectly fine on Windows 7 without and modifications or tinkering whatsoever but Disciples 2 is a ♥♥♥♥♥ to start up requiring a lot of tinkering and frustration.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The solid foundation that "Disciples II" is built on.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →crashes my whole pc for like 5 minutes whenever I try to launch it. there's probably a fix somewhere, but based on the other Strategy First games I've played I'm not missing out on much.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was a good game in the old days, but does not work on Windows 10. I managed to run it, but then it just crashes way too fast.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dangerously addictive. Even today. Yes, visuals are more than dated and gameplay is kinda simplistic, but boi - you just start and it will be hard to stop. It's style, music and overal atmosphere are so dark and concentrated that you will be hooked from the very beginning. Keep in mind - the game is literally ancient. It is so old, that it remembers dinosaurs. Thus, you'll have to make few simple steps to make it work on modern systems. Luckily, thanks to local community you can find a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Excellent game, old but gold describes it brillitantly. Have just installed it on Win10, the windows themselves asked me to install some addtional files and game runs smoothly without any bugs/glitches/etc.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great, legendary game, but unplayable version. You will have to read a lot of forums, make a lot of tuning, install fixes, etc. And it's still will barely work.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is fantasy turn-based strategy game, inspired by Heroes of Might & Magic as it is it's rival. Game includes 16 missions in saga mode, 4 missions for each of races. To finish one mission, it takes from 30 min to 2 hours, depends on your gameplay. Between missions of same campaign, you are able to transfer one commander of your choice, with 3 items of your choice Game also includes quest mode, where you have 1 tutorial map, 17 standalone missions and mission pack Divine Empire, which…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well balanced retro strategy game. At least this one runs on Windows 11. My faves of the series don't.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Disciples: Sacred Lands proves that Turn Base Gameplay still has life in it. Released around the time of Heroes of Might & Magic 3, this game has a lot of similar elements but gave its own unique spin on it. Instead of managing armies you are instead managing squads of troops led by a Hero. The individual soldiers you recruit can gain experience and transform into more powerful classes - based on what structures you build in your capital. Instead of claiming resources you instead expand your…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →>be me >have a semi-decent stack >decided to attack a stack with a medusa, and some random enemies >fail to kill the medusa >proceeds to get para-locked to death Don’t forget to (de)buff fellow boomers. Disciples Sacred Lands, is a turn-based fantasy strategy similar to Heroes of Might and Magic. Like the good HoMM games it also a bit old, and as such the graphics in particular are dated. If you are willing to look past that this game might be for you, if not maybe Disciples 2 is more your…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great turn based RPG 9/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was my childhood. The graphics, the art, the music, voice acting and the overall atmosphere that reminds that of The Lord Of The Rings, makes this one of the best and most artistic strategy games ever made. Flawless on Windows 10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A timeless classic... Aside the fact the graphics are severely outdated and the compatibility with Win7 or newer versions is very thin, I still play it from time to time for old times' sake.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Disciples Sacred Lands Gold developed and published by Strategy First is a landmark title in the realm of late-1990s turn-based strategy, blending empire management, tactical combat, and RPG progression within a dark, war-torn fantasy setting. As the expanded edition of the original release, the Gold version refines and broadens the experience with additional scenarios and content, offering players a substantial strategic campaign rooted in atmospheric storytelling. Rather than focusing solely…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing game only topped by the second
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played this for many hours elsewhere, and I was really surprised that this ran straight out of the box on a win 11 comp when I've had nothing but issues with Disciples 2. No finagling required. Other than that it's the same old Disciples. Love it or hate it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Only managed to replay the Empire campaign of this oldie-but-goldie, but 20 years ago I remember playing it quite a bit. One of the few, or potentially the only one, games to manage a unique and interesting spin on the HOMM game design. The gameplay is still as solid as I remembered it, though to be fair it was with its sequel that I spent the most time. An addicting crawl and conquering of each campaign map, with one main hero and other auxiliaries. The hero and unit progressions feel…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In one year is gonna be 26 years (!) since the premiere of this game. And that's why this game deserves the title of a diamond. Why? Because the diamonds are not getting old! The gameplay is so awesome, you want to play 'one more round...just one more round" The rules of fight are not very complicated, yet you have to combine and take a risk to win Watching units leveling up is very satisfying and descriptions of them is something that makes fantasy world much more attractive Graphic?…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When I was a kid I had no idea what I was doing , but I loved this game! now I'm playing it on easy mode and it is still challenging !
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →That game was fun back in the day. However, the game hasn't aged well. The UI is clunky. If you install it off the C drive you need to edit INI files to get the game to work. It has very limited mouse support. No way to rebind keys. It is a game that might have been good back in the day but is just frustrating to play because of the bad controls by today's standards
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Turn based nostalgia generator. Similar to Heroes of Might and Magic 3 (HOM3), but with less collectible items on the map. New players may find the content somewhat lacking. Great art style, voice acting and story. Just don't lose your main party. 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game will not run!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I remember my dad getting this game with me many years ago and I was way too young to really understand what was going on so cheated my way through the whole thing. Then got Disciples 2 and spent far more time playing that one. Now in recent days i've come back to the original and find that it has a shine to it that the second one just didn't have. Might be the simpler charm, or the (in my opinion) far more gratifying attacks and sounds over it's sequel. Still has a bit of a difficulty…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a good turn based strategy game. It is a very old game. The art style of this game is good. Since its a 2D game it doesn't look that bad. It works on windows 11. Max resolution is 480p and will stretch to 1080p or whatever your screen resolution is. I have amd graphics and i use performance profile to play this game which uses super resolution option to stretch and make it look better.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice art, good soundtrack, but it's basically a kiddie pool version of Heroes of Might and Magic - not a lot of depth. Missing once in battle can lead to an entire party wipe, so you just end up save scumming to make progress. You have very few tactical options. The GOG version just asks to install DirectPlay, after doing that it just works. Here on Steam, you need to do a couple things: 1. Open the install dir\Exe\DISCIPLE.ini with Notepad and at the bottom where the game install paths…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Heroes of Might and Magic from AliExpress, but it is strategy game, so... I like it! Score: Turn/Based
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good old memories, just saw Disciples OG on sale and remembered the good times I had in this game, and decided to give it a chance... 6 hours later and 3 campaign missions later, here I am. Game doesn't start by default, but there are guides that will help you with the game, it took me about 3 minutes to make it work (install in x86 steam folder, copy the .exe from that guide, run in compatibility xpSP3, enjoy). Absolutely great game, perfect like back in the days! The artwork, the narration,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's like Disciples 2 but without export/import character ability and level ups without form change. Awesome game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →still my favorite love the drawn parts wish theyd remaster the animation
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →hidden gem of the startegy games personally dig the Undead campaign and units
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I remember way back when, I found this game on Home of the Underdogs, back when that awesome thai chick was still maintaining it, and it sounded really neat, so when I found it sitting on the bargain rack at the local ebgames I immediately snatched it up and I did not regret it at all. Short review: it's sort of like homm, but instead of having unit stacks, you have individual units, of which your hero is one of them. You can have up to 6 slots of units, including your hero, and certain large…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Brings me back to when i was younger. very nostalgic game 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great game, and one that I've loved for a long time. Might be the nostalgia talking, but I'd give it 5 stars.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought it because of nostalgia and had tons of fun. I would say that Disciples Sacred Lands Gold is this one girl in your class that is not the prettiest one, but has such a great character that you are secretly in love in her :))
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oldies but Goldies! The start of a very unique Saga: dark, deep, original, addicting! Thumbs Up. Works fine on win10!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This review, like my time spent playing, will be short. Not because there is something wrong with the game, but because I have better games to play, and I am not so keen on candy sized pixels. Seriously though, there is a patch that solves most issues and makes it playable. It is easy to compare it to Heroes of Might and Magic 1, and while they are both slightly different, they both do the same thing. I didn't play past the tutorial mission so I am sure there is more to discover, but I got the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Work perfect. Better than version by lamo-GOG distributor. Good game. Better than Disciples 2 in some parts of gameplay.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have just installed this game. i (tried to watch) a youtube video on this game. i got as far as the guy choosing his charactor and basicallyi picked up the rest of the game as i went. i still have a lot to learn and i stillhave a lot more stuff to discover. but i think i may have played this brifly when i was younger or watched a relative play it as it seems like i have seen it or played it before. it is quite easy to pick up but i would say if it is new to you then learn from your mistakes…
