Cold War
Developer Mindware Studios
Cold War is a 2005 stealth video game developed by the Czech developer Mindware Studios, and published by DreamCatcher Games (Runesoft for Mac OS X and Linux Game Publishing for Linux). The game is similar to the Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell series of games in that it uses a stealth-action system of gameplay. The game distinguishes itself by adding an item invention system where the player can use seemingly useless… From Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0)

They talk a big game but I would be very worried if I was Putin. Putin sometimes rattles about his nuclear weapons, the US, UK and France are nuclear powers too.
unlabelledView post →It's no bad game. Like maybe 6.5-7/10. But be aware that it's way outdated (made in 2005), and even then it wasn't able to compete with Splinter Cell. Why buy it? Well, it's cheap, and it's a spy-story stealth game. You can pass without killing, by fabricating your own devices like rubber bullets, silencers, and ether mines from junk and using a cool x-ray camera to look behind, well, almost everything. Oh, if you remember the old James Bond game, Nightfire - sorry, it's not That cool. Just…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Command and Conquer may be the perfect '90s game. Its main influences were Dune and the Gulf War. It has those post-Cold War brainworms about Europe and it feels like what happens when NATO has to fight Goreans. Completely alien now, like finding a T-shirt of Bart Simpson bombing Bagdhad.

unlabelledView post →There's a weird space in James Bond pastiches between "full Cold War paranoia" and "guy with volcano lair building planet-busting superweapons for pure love of the game" where the superweapon guy IS working for a nefarious foreign power, but, like, apparently they didn't know about the superweapon?
unlabelledView post →It *is* extremely weird to be playing a game that still believes in like... "respectable" nationstate spycraft of the Cold War kind, plausible deniability, subterfuge, and things like diplomatic crises being very important in the middle of 2026.
unlabelledView post →The West used to play dirty – and during the Cold War, we were good at it. Nowadays, we leave grey-zone tactics and hybrid warfare to Russia, which is winning the disinformation war.
unlabelledView post →I have to confess, this game was just a ridiculous amount of fun. It felt like I was interacting in a cheesy spy novel, and it did a good job at it. Well, this is a third person stealth/action shooter. The first six to eight levels are more stealth oriented, but once the Russion Special Forces, (spetsnaz) are sent after you, you can pretty much kiss stealth goodbye. It's all shooting from there. It implements a system where you can collect gadgets lying around like rags, alarm clocks, plastic…

It was really good first. I even planned to recommend it to you, but then, i got bored because of some problems and changed my mind. There are some summarized pros. and cons. below: Pros + Story is interesting enough + Graphics are already outdated but it isn't ugly at all. + Some unique attractions like gadget crafting and X-Ray…

unlabelledView post →It doesn’t really make much difference but it’s part of the one-upmanship game of nuclear weapons deployments and counter deployments that beset the Cold War. It just makes the importance of the British & French deterrents even more important.

It's an okay throwback to the original Splinter Cell games and, if you can get over the ridiculous abilities of the main character, it's pretty fun. Oh, and there's no autosave, so be aware of that.

Terribly designed game but interesting if you want to see a specific slice of intellectual delusions during the Cold War. If the capitalists win, nuclear war. Commies, utopia

unlabelledView post →This game is really good, especially considering how old it is. The AI's fairly solid (although sometimes they are somewhat blind), and a few parts of the story are a little bit out of place, but overall it's a great game. There are quite a few cool strategic items that can be crafted from basic components, and the maps have plenty of hiding places. Enemies are able to lose you but will work together to corner you at times. The campaign lasted about twelve hours for me, but that includes a lot…

unlabelledView post →First, don't mind my record times. I played it while offline. I give this game 7/10. This game seems to be stealth game but in later levels you can play it like Call of Duty and the stealth system in this game is not good too. The good things about this game are twisted and excited story, many creative tools that you can craft them and I like idea of camera that can use as weapon as well plus the fact that main character is reporter making this idea is very creative.

Visuals 6.5/10 I would like to set this higher but it's was only just par in 05 and it hasent aged well but this mostly comes from the few cut sceens…

unlabelledView post →Worth the money, reminds a little of Splinter Cell, but a nice story and good execution, a bit shabby on the graphics part. I have yet to encounter a single bug and the game runs without demanding too much work from the machine. 8/10 pretty good

unlabelledView post →The story was nice. The gameplay however becomes tedious very quickly. Wanted to play this for the stealth, but after the new experience factor wore off, the stealth became a slog. By the end, I didn't care anymore and just murdered everyone who got in my way (both because stealthing was torture and also because the game forces you). All in all, a mediocre experience.
