Most notably it is the use of bullet time - its meter is gradually filled-in as we eliminate bad guys. Usage is also identical to Max Payne: we either simply turn on slow-mo or just jump sideways which is done in bullet time mode only for a short period of time. Obsolete gameplay mechanics The game was released back in 2006. Don't expect the ability to get behind covers. We can crouch…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Me: Mom, can we buy Max Payne? Mom: No, we have Max Payne at home Max Payne at home: Even all things considered, I feel like this game is way inferior in comparison to Max Payne in every way, shape and form. Don't get me even started on the fact you literally have to get a 3rd party software just to run the game in more than 5 fps. It could've been a great competitor to Max Payne, no doubt, but the developers didn't really bother to elaborate on many things. I mean the story is there and the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →El Matador - cheap short TPS (third-view shooter) Max Payne rip-off. It felt no that good even in 2006 when it was just released, and it is utterly hopeless now. Especially considering so many troubles with the proper booting the .exe file, which is not that simple as usual. El Matador is unplayable at the notebooks or laptops with the GPU chip on the motherboard. Even if you have some good discrete graphics card altogether. (There is a solution here:…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is not your typical AAA budget game, its mix between Max Payne and all of those B action movies from 70s,80s,90s, story line is your standard Steven Seagal action focus, and its there only to justify huge amount of baddies you will gonna kill. You will probably find here all Clichés of those movies, you know, good cop, bad cop, bad general, one action hero and so on. But If you think its bad, IT`S NOT, its really good, just like i said its not AAA budget game but it has it charm,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you love third-person shooters that combine gritty crime drama with high-octane gunplay, El Matador is a hidden gem worth diving into. Imagine Max Payne with a Latin twist an action-packed ride through drug cartels, corrupt officials, and plenty of bullet-riddled chaos. Gameplay The heart of El Matador is its solid cover-based shooting mechanics. It nails that satisfying “pop in and out of cover” flow, and the slow-motion diving and shooting sequences make you feel like the star of your…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not really that impressive. Graphics and gameplay aren't bad at all, but the storyline is way too short and feels somehow unfinished. While the first stage really was fun, later on the level design feels like the developers really didn't give a damn about delivering a polished product. Even Stranglehold was better than this. The Good: + Actually not a bad story and setting + Max Payne clones are always kinda fun + Pretty graphics The Bad: - Way too short - Often a bland level design -…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's definitely not as bad as the reviews say. Not as good as any Max Payne game of course but still a decent, fun shooter, especially for only 99 cents.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →El Matador is like a B action movie: it doesn't have that memorable story or characters, but it's actions are fun to watch and you won't be bored until the end. The soundtrack is awesome which adds more to the actions, also the bullet time and Max Payne like game elements making it little bit better. However, the enemies are hit scanning the player and on higher difficulties they are deadly and annoying to handle, plus the weapons have insane recoil, so the overall difficulty is higher than…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Poor Mans latino Max Payne. El Matador is a third person shooter which takes place in Colombia. You play as Victor a DEA agent sent to Colombia to fight the crime on drugs. The story is as plain and by the numbers as it seems. It hits all cop movie cliches and twists them in it's favor and it actually makes El Matador into a very charming game. As stated in the title the game is a massive Max Payne rip off. The gameplay is a very clear rip off of Max Payne. Everything from Bullet time…

:) PLUSY:…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This Game Sucks Ass El Matador was a traumatic experience. Alike that one time I put my testicles in a vice, it was both a painful and pleasurable experience, though it definitely leaned more towards the former. Indeed, if one tries hard enough they can enjoy El Matador but nevertheless it is such a flawed game that even the thought of it makes my blood boil and my nuts quake. The story is non existent, the main character is the only one with a decent voice actor who sounds strangely close to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →El Matador is a shooter action released in 2006. There is nothing much to discuss or review about this game as it's basically a Max Payne clone, despite being 5 years older, it has worse graphics and a few weird movements etc. But on the flip side, it's definitely worth getting during an offer. it is a decent game, I enjoyed playing it, the story-line isn't bad. This review is hell short because of it being a clone, but do try it out if you do have the chance, it had a discount of 75% to 80%,…

Thank you for wasting my quota for 2.5GB. Sorry to say this but don't buy this game before they fix it and btw I'm not the only one who have the same problem.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →El Matador is an action-packed shooter you can use slow-motion in. Its story takes place in Columbia. You are a commando sent there to fight against drug cartels. AI accompanies you from time to time. I can highly recommend this game, despite the fact that it's very short- it took me 2.5 hours to finish El Matador. Pros: weapons give you the feeling of power bullets ricochet off the walls and can hit enemies, the angle of reflection depends on the angle of incidence slow-motion is available…

After hours of scouring the 'Net, I found something that works: "El Matador All In One Custom Remaster ( ReShadElite )", on ModDB. Just extract that stuff into your game directory and it will start working. That is notable because the usual DDRAW fixes do not work on this one. El Matador is one of those me-too project games that do not hold up to whatever they are emulating. It is always about giving into the feature…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Max Payne, meet Marco Pena This is basically Max Payne 1 set in South America with a less somber story and a slightly more arcadey feel. If you enjoy the Max Payne games, you will probably dig this. Slomo pewpew with groovy Matrix-esque OST thumping throughout with a variety of weapons at your disposal, ranging from the usual Deagles, Shotties, Dual-wield SMGs, Miniguns, Assault Rifles, and even Rocket Launchers. The game was difficult enough to remain challenging throughout, with a few…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The fact that this game needs some third party management to be able to run on nowadays' computers is enough for me to not recommend it. It was a struggle to make it run without any lags. Gameplay-wise, shooting at people feels a bit off, and getting hit by bullets leads to a lot of character grunts that make you think you are done for. Graphics are 2004 graphics, so not much to expect, and soundtrack is too repetitive. 5/10 overall.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When you order "Maxu Paynu" from Wish you get his lesser known, slightly dysfunctional Latin American cousin on the spectrum who might infuriate you just a little bit sometimes. He means well, though. Kid's got a good heart. Still beats all the propaganda crap churned out en masse to the market these days. Zero bi-sexual lighting. What a breath of fresh air in an asphyxiating sea of ♥♥♥♥♥ flags superimposed over every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ little thing. Just an action game that tries to entertain you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →El Matador is a 3rd person shooter in the style of Max Payne. The game is of average quality and short lived. What still urges me to recommend is the low price and the story. Sure, you shouldn't have high expectations, but I knew what to expect because I had already played the game when it was released. Not a top title but enough for a recommendation.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →El Matador is a third-person Max Payne clone. In Colombia, you have to fight against mighty drug cartels with your guns and slowmotion power. pros + ragdoll physics + overlooked premise in South America + weapon variety + gunplay + bullet time helpful but not necessary + cheap cons - soundtrack - short - lack of gore Verdict El Matador is an interesting Max Payne clone without reaching the same quality. While the game has grown older now, the gunplay and story still hold up. Genre: bullet…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a Max Payne clone except it discourages you to play it like one. The enemies are too tanky and the slow mo doesn't really help you dodge their bullets, so playing it like a peekaboo cover shooter is more viable. The graphics look alright for its time but the shadows were buggy. There are bosses that kill you in five hits and you need to headshot them 50 times or you can just keep shooting their legs while they're taking cover. The game is dumb asf but it was alright.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Verdict 👍 Recommended (for the right crowd) Not a game for me. I played about 0.2 hours and that was enough — but I can see why fans of old-school action shooters would enjoy it, so I still recommend it for the right audience. Quick signals 💸 Value: ✅ "That'll do, pig. That'll do." 🖥️ Requirements: ✅ Minimum 🎨 Graphics: ✅ Acceptable ⏱️ Length: ✅ 2–5 hours 📖 Story: ✅ Bad 🎮 Difficulty: ✅ Easy to learn, hard to master / Hard 🐛 Bugs: ✅ Perfect Why I am not the target audience - The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A forgettable, uninteresting, unengaging, basic third-person shooter that tries to emulate Max Payne's gameplay in the clunkiest manner, and will be a stuttering mess if you don't download the community patch.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am going to keep this short and simple. El Matador is Max Payne clone during a time where the gaming landscape was littered with them. It does nothing new. The story is cliché. The writing is bad. The voice acting is bad. The main protagonist is a played out stereotype even for 2006. The gunplay is bad. Headshots mean nothing. Bullets are fired from the center of the screen and not the barrel of the gun. This allowed me to cheese the unfair boss fights. Enemies are ghosts that materialize out…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a bad fun little shooter. Not a bad story, lots of weapons, lots of shooting, and you can slow down time. No serious bugs. The downside for me is that you can't carry a lot of ammo for one weapon. With or without a discount, the game is not bad but quite short.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Run, boom boom boom, 3 cartel members go down, run to the next room, turn on slo-mo, boooooom boooooom boooooom, 3 more cartel members go down.... rinse and repeat :) Absolutely linear experience with depth of a flash game (remember flash games? danm Im gettin old...), but it doesn't try to pretend to be someting more than it really is and I respect that :) The game is surprisingly good on a technical level - great (for the time) environment assets, enemies are somewhat competent and move a…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Framerate very choppy. Unplayable on Win10, i5-9600K, ASUS ROG Strix Z390-E, GTX1660S, 32GB Corsair 3000MHz DDR4, ASUS Xonar Sound card...even with settings dumbed down to 1440x900. I'll experiment a bit and if the game becomes playable, I will update my review. As of now, I can't recommend it, especially when I can play Max Payne lll with all the bells and whistles on.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yeah this won't work on Win 10.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hmm... In my opinion, it is worth the price. (Must buy when being a sale.) That is true it has just about 5-6 hours story, but great game and graphic compared to it is published in 2006. Absolutely fully scripted game, but the shooting system and AI is good, the enemies throw back the grenade, take cover or attacking us directly. Lots of scene (eg. port, office, streets, storehouse, cave, jungle, ship) when you can fight. You can use bullet-time. It is very spectacular. :) I just recommend. PS.…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A Max Payne-kind of game, that brings you to the South America, a few years before Max Payne's journey takes him to Brazil. The protagonist definitely doesn't have the charm that Max has, and feels like his lungs have two cigarettes left of their lifespan. The gameplay itself is pretty nice for its time, did not age too terribly. What is annoying tho, are some of the "boss fights". It is an interesting concept to mark a special enemy and give him a health bar, but some of them are bullet…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's okay. Took me like five hours. It's based on the MaxFX Game engine and technically a Max Payne 2 mod. Well the movement is worse but... 5€.... it's okay. Has to be patched to work properly tough! Think of it as an early prototype of Max Payne 3.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →yes, its a inferior version of max payne, yes the ai is nearly impossible on anything but the easiest difficulty, yes the story is kind of stupid, yes its the most linear a game can get, yes it took less than 4 hours to beat, yes quick saves straight up don't work and you have to rely on autosaves, and yes the game is unfair as you only get one scoped weapon the entire game, that you don't get to have half of the time against endless enemies at long range. It was dumb fun. It goes on sale for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TL;DR: If Max Payne is developed by a Czech and has a massive jank than what Remedy made back in the day. Only this time, the Czech change up the setting to Mexico instead. Also, game is bugged. Read more below, but in short: the game is not patched by the community, unlike Max Payne. Summary: I found this game by accident when I was watching someone reviewing Stranglehold (maybe Raycevik or another YouTubers, I forgot) and it came to this game, which got me interested. EL MATADOR. Like Max…

For Win 10 1)You need Process Lasso app 2)Run Process Lasso ,then run the game in 640x480 mode (NOT WS) 3) Use Alt+Tab (Find in Process Lasso Pc_el Matador Click right button on it --->CPU affinity--->always---> In NEW window check mark first 4 Cores (ONLY FIRST 4) others should be with blanked space------>Click OK ) 4)Restart game If you don't play with that, the game will run at 30 fps and with constant stuttering. With that out of the way, if…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I found this in my steam library and just gave it a shot. Most people probably have the fps issue once you launch it for the first time and just give up on it. Once you fix the fps problem with the help of process lasso the gameplay was actually enjoyable and the game had an interesting plot twist. It had some minor problems like headshots not registering, there was no type of waypoint/clue which became annoying sometimes and you could shoot through walls as long as your crosshair was on the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The gameplay is kinda like Max Payne, except that it doesn't feel good. Like, at all. The shooting is weird and the bullet time doesn't feel satisfying. Enemies will always hit the player, even if he enters the room with a squad. I have no words for the soundtrack, it makes the whole experience incredibly awkward. I expected to at least finish the prologue, but the game crashed during the boss fight and I don't really see it becoming any better. I paid only 0.59€, but... give it a pass.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cool game. Problem is, there's nothing here that helps it stand out. Imagine if someone took Max Payne 2, but made it in 2006 with then modern graphic features and tons (and I mean it) of physics. This would be the result of that. But it's literally only that. The game lacks any sort of charm, charisma, personality. There are some really fun levels here and there, But the AI is pretty much braindead most of the times, only shooting from cover and exposing themselves to be filled with bullets.…

The story is a mexican police agent fighting against the cartels. Owned the disc copy back in 2006 but never played it since I didn't know the cheat codes (goto www.cheathappens.com, these ones are free) to play the game. For it's time, it's a awesome little game. With a SSD, load times are a breeeze.
