If anyone from City Interactive is reading this, please, make it happen, bring the rest of the series to Steam. (Also consider putting the Art of Murder series on here as well.) I'm not going to delve too deeply into the story, and the gameplay is standard adventure…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Too short, too easy, too led. Simpy a point and click video - no real challenges or puzzles. You can only leave a location if you have completed every task there. Some activities/actions have not bearing on the story or the game, but you have to complete them to continue. Disappointing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →pros + good looking and detailed graphics + good voice acting + easy puzzles (if you don't want to challenge) + hotspots are marked to make it easy. No need to hunt for pixels. + raiders of the lost ark type story is intriguing + background music is good cons - sometimes voiceover suddenly cuts and there are lip sync problems - game is too dark and there is no gamma option in menu. - game could have been longer. Overall this is an decent and typical old school point and click adventure…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good point & click game with great story and not to hard puzzles. Game is also not very long 5-6h. It has nice graphics for its age and atmospheric music. I only had some trouble with dialogue skipping. Recommended for gamers, who want to enjoy good storytelling and just to have some casual fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you get it really really cheap it isn't unplayable. It just isn't good, or even interesting in any way. The plot and the writing, as well as the characterization range between bad, absurd, same-old-crap and uninspired. The puzzles are too often arbitrary and generally not very enjoyable, but at least there's no pixel hunting. The linearity of them is also annoying occasionally (do this random arbitrary thing first, if you want the story to continue). The backgrounds are rather good, probably…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →PROS: + Interesting locations + Very nice backgrounds + Decent characters animations CONS: - Unoriginal and often absurd plot - Dull and sometimes confusing puzzles - Bad voice acting - Uninspiring music score - Too short - Really too dark (gamma not configurable with in-game options)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A little glitchy in parts re: Speech in regards to what is on the screen. A problem solving game rather than a hidden object game which is quite refreshing. Puzzles vary in simplicity to complexity. A rather absorbing game, set some time aside, this is one of those that will pull you in and steal hours :D
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game, If you like point and click games. Good graphics, sound is good but a few times the speech end abruptly, good interface. It's not a triple AAA game but it's cheap and fun to play for a few hours.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Awesome game that has not aged a day. If you like adventures you should get this one. No humor in this game - Daedalic games takes care of that department, just the hospitaller knights and the ye olde vatican consipracy stuff but it's entertaining nevertheless. Game flows nicely. UI is responsive and hotspots are marked to make it easy. No need to hunt for pixels.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The highlight of this game is the well-present graphics, stand-out soundtrack and likeable main character which give a very pleasant first feel to the game. The dialogue, while the main character is done well, comes across as uneven, odd and nonsensical. The story is yet another riff on the Knight Templar and remains serviceable until the ridiculous ending. The biggest problem is that this game is the excessively linear, even for the genre. You simply cannot do any actions until some prior…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Thumbs down! I was able to run this game under Windows 10 with only a few glitches here and there. There is a button that will show hotspots. That’s about it for the positive aspects. There are many negative aspects. There is no instant travel map or even a regular map. You need to use weird moon logic to solve some of the puzzles. There is a sliding puzzle. Even worse, there is a timing puzzle that can’t be skipped. You get to keep trying the timing puzzle until you succeed, but it’s quite…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fairly short point and click adventure roughly 4-5 hours in length. Kind of bummed Steam failed to record my time for it but I pretty much finished it in one sitting. I really enjoy adventures like this, set in modern times exploring ancient folklore. It falls with Broken Sword and Gabriel Knight. GRAPHICS: The locations are absolutely beautiful. I found them very pretty to look at despite being outdated. It's probably the game's biggest selling point. Sadly, each location only has limited…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well. The game ends flatly, as others have pointed out. But until the end, it's quite nice. The graphics are gorgeous, the storytelling and character development are engaging, and even the voice acting is excellent. The gameplay is quite challenging at points, with some difficult adventure puzzles. They require patience, examining every object and scene carefully, and trying various solutions. You sometimes really have to think outside the box. Fans of adventure games will enjoy these... for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In this classic adventure game we follow young archeologist Sylvie Leroux. Her uncle, also a famous archaeologist, uncovered a hidden temple containing mysterious artifacts and invited her to Malta to consult his findings with her. These artifacts could be the missing link in her research about the Templar and Hospitalier Knights and some unworldly power that could destroy whole cities (like what happened with Sodom and Gomorrah)… I think? Anyway, as Sylvie arrives in Malta her uncle is nowhere…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played for a few minutes while the voice dialog kept clipping out. Then it crashed at the cave scene. I followed all of the suggestions to run the game clean, but none of them worked. I reinstalled the dependent files, but it still crashes. This game program shell is trash. Why put out a game that the majority of people with good fast computers, who I assume is most of this group, when you know it doesn't even work?! It's theft if you ask me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good point & clicker game. This is the best series of Chronicles of Mystery. Good gameplay. Nice graphic and music.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is short and sweet. Not too complicated, decent story, and decent voice acting. A major con for this version of the game is that the dialogue seems to be a bit broken - cutting in and out randomly (so its a good thing there's subtitles). Another big con is that you will spend a large amount of time watching Sylvie walk slowly across your screen with no real way to speed her up. At $4.99 for about 4 hrs of gameplay, its a decent purchase if you're a big fan of the archaeology/history…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is actually OK when it comes to the story and most of the puzzles, however there are few things that make it worse then the competition thus the negative review. Cons: 1. Game is outdated and has issues running on modern PCs. In my case dialogues were cut off and once in the middle of a sentence and once the UI got messed up, but worse problems are described in the community hub 2. Game literally forces you to do some actions in order. Instead of placing the items you should find…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love it. I wish there were more games like this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Way too short. I enjoy the style of game, but this one seemed to be made on the slim with very little thought given to variety of locations and/or puzzles.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Can't in good conscience give this a yes. Its just one in a million cookie cutter PnC games being cranked out assembly line fashion in its time. Kind of like they are now. Remember The Adventure Company? The horror! Story is insipid and dialogue is banal. Puzzles are largely there to make the game last more than fifteen minutes. Which, in my opinion, is why most of these so called "adventure games" had puzzles in the first place. There was no story and characters obviously ripped from current…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Frankly its NOT good ... one way to annoy me with a point-and-click is to basically break because I did things in the wrong order. I got stuck late in the game - so I looked up a walkthrough. Apparently I did something in the wrong order and now someone can't respond and in fact the game hangs and I have to kill it using a task manager. I am going to go to an earlier save and one thing good about this game is you can have multiple saves. Until it broke I actually preferred it to "tree of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →4/10 overall. You won't be missing out if you don't play it. Pros: - Classic mystery story for those of us who love the genre. - The protagonist has a sense of humour. - There were a few interesting dialogues. Cons: - The game is a bit dark. - Some of the game mechanics are a awkward. - The ending is too rushed and felt like a cheap adaptation of Indiana Jones.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good fun and makes the brain think
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The puzzles are either easy or annoying. Not hard, just annoying. The plot is not too heavily invested in, and feels more like the game is "plot-flavored" rather than having an actual plot. The end provides no explanations or any sense of closure. Nothing becomes much clear than comparing to the first 30 minutes of game play. In addition, there are severe speech-bugs, and most conversations stop in mid-sentence. I'm afraid this is a definate "No".
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Personally not interesting to me. It's ok though; however, I'd like a better story that draws me in.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Decent, overall it's a nice point and click game, if you like classics from the past.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game brings the charm of classic adventures. The graphics are stunning and rich in detail, making every scene feel alive, while the voice acting adds depth to the characters and story. If you’re not looking for a brain-burner, the easy puzzles make the game a relaxed experience, and marked hotspots mean no tedious pixel-hunting. The Raiders of the Lost Ark-style storyline is gripping and engaging, paired with atmospheric background music that enhances the adventure vibe. It’s a short game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoyed it. The graphics are great and must have looked particularly impressive when the game was released.I liked the atmosphere and the premise. Sure, it's easy and the puzzles are mostly simple and obvious. I finished it without resorting to a hint or walkthrough, though I did use the in-game locator question mark.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very, very decent. This is not a top-shelf adventure game. In fact, you'll find all the frustrations common to this genre's lesser entries—leaps in logic and morality, occasionally unskippable dialogue and animation, pixel hunting—without any sort of cleverness, originality, or high-end production to make up for it. Nevertheless, I quite enjoy The Scorpio Ritual for what it is: Brief, casual, and by the numbers.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun point and click adventure. A few of the solutions are very dumb and sometimes it's annoying if the puzzle must be solved chronologically, but for the most part it's a great fun. Ending is terrible, though. 7/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I didn't have great expectations for this game, but The Scorpio Ritual proved to be a fun point&click adventure overall. Sure, Sylvie Leroux might not be as charismatic and memorable as George Stobbart, Kate Walker or April Ryan, but this young archaeologist and adventurer still managed to be an interesting main character and often delivered witty remarks. I just wish the plot didn't make her look a little too trustful on a few fishy situations (or am I the only one who felt like following…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Excelent game with a nice plot, the game has several nice puzzles and you get to see a lot of sceneries. I enjoyed this game a lot even though its screen resolution was a tad low, it stood out by its quality! I fully recommend this game to anyone who likes Indiana Jones like adventures (it kind of ressembles that).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Boring old 2D Point and Click "adventure"... I wouldn't call this an adventure... But well. The graphics are horrible and you can’t change the resolution (which is terrible). There are way better point and click adventures on Steam.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Chronicles of Mystery: The Scorpio Ritual is a 3D rendered 2D point and click adventure/puzzle game. Guide a young archaeologist through a series of mystery puzzles to unravel an insidious plot. A reasonable concept but despite the 2008 release date, this feels like a game from the 1990s. Resolution is fixed and there's no widescreen support, although you can choose from pillarboxed or stretched 4:3. This falls far beneath minimum standards for contemporary PC games. Chronicles of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I give this game a resounding MEH! The voicing was ok, but often cut off partway through. The graphics were ok but often put you in huge rooms with two hot spots, so even at a run you were just waiting for your character to cross the screen half the time. The story was ok, but a bit confusing and didn't really wrap things up at the end. I also hated how she didn't have a cent to her name yet was able to jet set around from country to country at will with no issues. The puzzles are where…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →you cannot save the game. You will have to go back to the beginning.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This isn't terrible, and it's only four hours long, puzzles are mostly straightforward, and there's a hot spot indicator eliminating any annoyance from pixel hunting, so it's fine to get through. It really just came across as completely mediocre, though. The voice acting's acceptable, but the dialogue is often almost nonsensical. I don't know it there are translation issues or what, but people have conversations where they speak lines to each other that seem like a run of non sequiters…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Adventuretime?!? The game Chronicles of Mystery: The Scorpio Ritual is a standard point and click adventure with some Indiana Jones Tropes. A religious story about an ancient artefact, and a protagonist who at times uses underhanded and subterfuge to achieve her goals. So far nothing too much new it seems, but the game actually kept me playing till I got through it. And now that I am finished, the ending was kind of... well, yes, rushed, unsatisfying and also kind of too much of "good" and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The mystery is interesting, and given the time this game was released, the plot fits into mystery trends. It seems a bit overdone now -- Knights Templar, Vatican conspiracy, etc. -- but it's easy to overlook that as it's not a new game. The controls were easy to get the hang of, and the story does a good job of working some actual history into the plot. However, some of the puzzles are convoluted. For example, Sylvie needs to combine moist napkins with a branch to clean off a button she can't…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is so fun and interesting. I never thought I would get into a game like this, but it kept me going a lot.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked how the game looked and sounded, it reminded me of olf Resident Evil games. And I'm onto that kind of 90's - early 00's style. :) The backgrounds in the game were superb to my taste. Lot's of nice details. Only problem I really had was that the voice lines were skipping a lot. And the game was super short. It took me 6h to finish because I was running back and fourth all the time missing some piece at somewhere. Also I fell asleep one time when I was playing it (it was late okay)…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This kind of game is not everyone's cup of tea, but I enjoyed it. I purchased it as part of a Humble CI Games Bundle specifically for this game. It's a short (at most 5 hours) point and click adventure game. It was just enough of a game to keep me entertained for the weekend. I'll be looking into the other games of the series and similar games from CI for future quiet weekends also.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was a fun, inexpensive little game. It's not super memorable or something that I see myself playing again, but I enjoyed it. I really liked the "Indiana Jones adventure" type feel it had. If you're just looking for a quick casual game that doesn't cost much, I recommend giving this one a try.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've only played this game for a few minutes, but with terrible graphics and no ability to change them or change resolution, buggy voiceovers that cut out (and fairly unrealistic dialogue to boot), clunky design, and more, I don't need to play any more. I have hundreds of other games much more worth my time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting game, beautiful artwork and graphics. A bit easy and a lot of running around from point A to point B, but then again, it is a point-and-click adventure. The voices were very suited to each character and the background music was really good. I would definitely recommend this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →CoM: The Scorpio Ritual is the first game in a series of point-and-click adventure games starring Sylvie Leroux, a young and plucky archeologist going after mankind-sized mysteries. While the story of a Kinght order and a world-wide catastrophe is rather cliche, it managed to remain mildly interesting throughout, and combined with the wonderful visuals playing TSC was a pleasant experience. Pleasant, but not in the least challenging - the puzzles mostly were only placeholders. No great puzzle…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another one that makes up it's own playing time This was a dreadful, badly translated, ugly, point-&-click game. I bought it because I thought the screenies looked ok, and becasue I thought it was a HOG. It isn't either of those things. A truly dreadful game I would not bother to review other than it is currently claiming I have played 128 hours of this hideous mess. It was not even installed for as long as that. I'm now off to check my library for more games claiming I like them more than…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked the background story and the graphical views but it's too short and too simple to play. Also mentionned by others: voices are cuted.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Could not enjoy this game at all. the brick puzzle part in the garden was very poorly designed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A pretty good adventure game, with a pretty good story and a nice variety of places to visit, and the puzzles were good too. That being said it is a bit short and it kinda ends in an abrupt ending for my taste.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Story quite good and puzzles entertaining. There are issues with the speech cutting off mid-sentence but that's minor.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →fun, easy. 90s feels.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played for 86 minutes and had to stop. Game has such a great premise for me - female protagonist, archaeology, Mediterranean setting. But it's too stupid and hard to see.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →10 out of 10. I really enjoyed this classic point and click game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game buy on sale even better
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Easy play with walkthrough. The ending is abrupt.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has some fun scenes and puzzles, but the plot ending is one of the weirdest and most lazily-written I've ever encountered in a game (it really doesn't make much sense). Can't recommend.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'll give this 7 undercover nuns out of 10 undercover nuns. It was a pretty comfy game.
