"Art of Murder" refers to how artfully the game makes me want to murder the main character. Pros: + Graphics look nice. + General gameplay works well for the most part. + Music isn't bad. + Story would be okay, if only it was told properly. Cons: - Main character is dumb as a stick. - Main character's dialogue contradicts NPC dialogue and evidence several times. - Several puzzles are so illogical that the infamous Gabriel Knight 3 "cat hair moustache" puzzle makes more sense. Not hard, just…

Very nice point & click game. It has great crime, mystery story what just got better & better when I played on. Puzzles are logic & not too hard. Usually when I got stuck in point & click game I start to use every item in my invetory with every other item, but I didn't do it in this game, that is good sign for fun game. Game gives you little hints how to solve the puzzles & because that it is easy to just get stuck in few places, but I didn't use any walkthrough, so it's not impossible to beat…

A pretty good point and click game with an interesting plot. It plays very much more like a tv detective drama than a movie one and that's okay. Both are entertaining in their own way. The story is linear, which I appreciated. This game is about 6-8 hours depending on how fast you catch on to the objectives you need to do. The game strongly encourages just following the plot instead of going your own way. It prevents you from collecting every item you can click on, stating you don't know what…

pros + good looking and detailed pre rendered graphics + decent voice acting + background music is good + puzzles are enjoyable and not too difficult. there are also inventory puzzles you can combine some items. + hotspots are marked to make it easy. no need to hunt for pixels. + story is intriguing and exciting. you're an FBI agent and investigating some ritualistic murders and there is a recurring pre-Columbian theme in story. + game is long cons - cut scenes low quality and quite dark. -…

The first in the Art of Murder series, FBI Confidential isn't the bottom of the point-and-click barrel, but it comes dangerously close. The saving grace for this game is the location visuals. The places you go just look great for an older game. Even the characters don't look half bad. The only real enjoyment I got from this game was going from place to place just to see things. Unfortunately the gameplay itself goes back and forth between average casual item interactions, to mind-blowingly…

I only recommend it if you get it cheaper. It is not a bad game, just seems they run out of ideas about the puzzles. Story is decend and keeps you going but the puzzles are not challenging. They are just confusing from lack of basic clues. Example:Why cant i move a barrel? Oh, after looking at it and listening to the character saying stupid things about it, you realise its too heavy and need to be made lighter. If only the character would say "i am not strong enough" or "this is too heavy"…

I played enough to say that this is a very budget version of the Strong Female Detective Story popularised by the still better of the bunch Still Life. It is a bit all over the place, technically it stands its own just barely, the characters do not make much sense, but it has a sense of place and it is quite pleasant in how it follows the classic point n click adventure scheme. It is very cheap already, so for this price and if you are a collector of this kind of games as I am, it is…

Art of Murder - FBI Confidential is an extremely underwhelming point n click adventure game. The only thing I really liked about this game were the laughably god-awful dialogues. I think they were written in English by someone with only cursory knowledge of the language. But then when it comes to gameplay, it is just god-awful, no cheers there. It is a simplistic adventure game, where you can only pick up certain objects exactly when you need them. This artificial linearity is really annoying,…

Annoying. You can sum up the story into 1 minute of gameplay. The rest is just cheap ways to justify a game. Game over sequence in the end shows laziness in development. Obscure. Uninteresting. Logic is far-fetched. Not a good detective game.

Let me start by saying I have a soft spot for old classic point n click adventure games. This one's really very good but not great as it contains multiple aggravations. Where do I start: Normally voice acting doesn't bother me at all. But in this case, the main actress who you have to listen to throughout the whole game sounds like she couldn't be any more bored if she actually tried. Many of the items don't let you pick them up until you need them, which sucks because you have to remember…

Thumbs down! This is a point and click adventure which cannot be solved with logic. I needed to look at some walkthroughs to finish and one walkthrough actually described a puzzle as “absolutely ridiculous”. The puzzles were so bad that I was reminded of games in the 80’s and 90’s that were deliberately designed to sell hint books. Even if you know what you have to do, some solutions require a bit of pixel-hunting to get them to work. In addition, one puzzle is on a timer, but the game doesn’t…

As with every City Interactive game, the graphics are great, the translation is dogwater, the voice acting is horrible, and the puzzles make no sense. But by Christ, I cannot stop playing these games. Objectively, it'll be one of the worst games you've ever played, but by the end you'll be in a significantly better mood because you played it. Play it after someone you love dies, you get laid off, or you get bad news. You'll thank me!

This is the very first game of art of murder. It's very lacking in many aspects such as playability, transitions, puzzle logic, etc. I felt like I stumbled over a cement wall from time to time because of many silly things like talking. That was the main issue. If you spoke to a character, you didn't know if you still had to follow the conversation or no, there aren't any signs and consequently, you couldn't continue the story. They ameliorated many aspects from the next games, fortunately.…

Game not very well put together,. Requires too many random combinations of objects and leaps of fancy. Even talking to characters requires you to keep on clicking on them to get them to finish their conversations. Story good but let down too much randomness.

3/10 It's like a couple of 17 year old wrote this game..... I can't really recommend this game, even for a point n click fanatic. This game is clearly made by someone that don't know English. I'm surprised the voice actors didn't try to correct the dialog. There are so many things that I can criticize.... For example: you can't put fuel on lighter "this is just stupid" (she says something similar). But put lighter on fuel.... aaah the lighter is full now... I'm not going to…

I played this game as a kid back then in 2010. However I was not able to complete it as the language was not my strongest and soon the game was forgotten. I completed L.A Noire a while back and that's when I suddenly remembered about this "Detective Click and Move game I played as a kid". I finally was able to resolve all the riddles and complete the game. I wouldn't say that it's the "Best Detective Game" out there. The game hasn't aged too well either. Wow. This game is painful. The first damn task is to find yourself a ream of paper. Seriously? After she claims that she's gonna have a "six pack" from lifting a ream of paper, I literally laughed out loud. Every line is an overreaction from your main detective actor. If this person was in my everyday real life, she would shout things like, "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥! That's a number two pencil!" and, "I found a crouton under the couch cushion," and, "Air conditioners are windy!" Finally, watching the…

This game is sadly linear, and niche in its logic. Without a modern hints system a guide is certainly useful. It probably wasn't too bad on release but hasn't aged well, that combine with the lack of achievements to make it feel like you've accomplished anything, or cards for levels means I can't recommend it, which is sad as the base game is solid, it just lacks amusement value despite having compelling characters.

I know I gave this game a positive vote and I stand by that recommendation, but this game is absolutely terrible. There is no attention to simple details, such as the fact that telephone numbers (which actually play a huge part in the game) are not in a North American format, despite the game supposedly taking place in the USA. A minor detail, but still detracts from the immersion hard. The dialogue was obviously not written by a native English speaker. Nobody talks like that. Nowhere.…

I played this for the first time about 10 years ago. Re-played for the good memories and I like myself some good detective point-and-click adventure. I enjoy the story even though it seemed short to me (about 6 hours for completion). It's a quite old game, but graphics are fine. Puzzles and object combinations are not that hard. What is very positive it that you can walk through most places without missing anything, so you don't get stuck for too long or walk back and forth like in other games.…

It's subtle and don't make the plot twist in the end obvious. + Good plot twist. if you know narrative structure and how plot works, you will see it coming, but most people will not see it coming. Not recommendable. One of the worst point and click adventures I ever played. Background drawings are quite pretty. Music, sound effects, and voice over are okay, The story is pretty shallow and mostly straightforward. Also it misses all realism concerning how the agency in question is working. What's really bad and gets very frustrating is the game play. Art of Murder: FBI Confidential, developed and published by City Interactive S.A., is a traditional point-and-click adventure game that attempts to merge the dark intrigue of a serial killer mystery with the classic investigative structure of the genre. Set primarily in New York City, it places the player in the role of Nicole Bonnet, a young FBI agent tasked with tracking down a ruthless murderer who leaves behind gruesome scenes marked by strange, pre-Columbian artifacts. For a game that was made over 15 years ago, I feel like it held up pretty well. There were some moments where I was confused on what to do (ex. when you get held captive) or when combining things had to be done a certain way for them to work. Overall, I still enjoyed playing it. People find this a terrible video game ever released. Wait... This is actually a good piece. I'm not trying to be biased, but I've played this game since it came out first and to me, it's amazing. The graphics are far ahead of their time, the soundtrack fits the theme and has a "decent" storyline. The only weak point is the voice acting. I've probably played this 100 times since it was on disc and on Steam. I'm so glad Steam added it. Each time I play it, I see it in a different light as the years go by. This is a good, solid adventure game with a female protagonist. The hint feature shows all the active spots so you don't overlook something. The "puzzles" apply to the activities you need to accomplish. They are not just random nonsense.
