if there is one word to discribe this game and it's predecessor it's annoying. amost everything needs to be done in a specific order, where items cannot be picked up until you find out you need them. a good example of why this is infuriating is about halfway where you need to fix a tire.i know it needs a patch and i happen to have seen a rubber patch in an area in the game high up. so i use various long pole like items in i inventory which don't work. there are some items that may be of use in…

I've played the Art of Murder games back when they were released, so this was mostly a purchase based on nostalgia. But I like the Point'n'Click Adventure genre, even though the story in this one is a bit basic, it's good for a relaxing evening :)

Recommended. This was just challenging enough for me that I was able to keep moving forward staying challenged not getting bored, until I got to the slider puzzel. I hate slider puzzles. This one is a 16 square slider with the correct picture right next to the puzzle but I have not been able to complete it. From what I can tell I am three quarters of the way throught the game or more but may never finish. I did enjoy playing though up to this point, however may never purchase another game…

Not a bad game, until I hit a slider puzzle. Why... WHY are you putting this terrible puzzle format in THIS kind of game?! NOBODY LIKES SLIDER PUZZLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Poor rating because of non-creative development. You're just putting this kind of crap in your game so it takes longer to finish. I'd rather have a shorter, QUALITY game, than a crappy long boring one with frustrating puzzles that you can't skip. Lazy programming!!!!!!!!

Thumbs down! This game is the second in the Art of Murder series. It’s not much different from the first game. It’s another disappointing point and click adventure game with really weird moon logic and timed puzzles, but without an instant travel map or even a regular map. There’s also a sliding puzzle, but that didn’t bother me as much as the timed puzzles did.

I'd say it's the same review for the previous game: classic Point and Click adventure game. the focus here is more investigative about a mysterious murderer who's being chased by the FBI. 1- Graphics: 5/5 Pretty good graphics. I'd argue it has aged pretty well after almost 12 years now. even more beautiful places in this game 2- Story: 3/5 Average story line. you feel like you already saw that dozens of times before. 3- Puzzles: 3/5 sometimes seems pretty illogical. the type where you say to…

pros + good looking and detailed pre rendered graphics + when you click to question mark, hotspots is highlighted. No need to hunt for pixels. + well made cut scenes + fast pacing and intriguing serial killer/murder story + decent voice acting + background music and sound effects are good + some puzzles are enjoyable. there are also inventory puzzles you can combine some items and a few timed sequences. + game is long cons - voice overs suddenly cut while characters was talking - Some puzzle…

3/10 It's like a couple of 17 year old wrote this game.... I can't really recommend this game, even for a point n click fanatic. This game is clearly made by someone that don't know English. I'm surprised the voice actors didn't try to correct the dialog. There are so many things that I can criticize.... For example: you can't put fuel on lighter "this is just stupid" (she says something similar). But put lighter on fuel.... aaah the lighter is full now... I'm not going to waste more time…

It's decent, enjoyable mystery but, the paper pieces puzzle, who thought it is a good idea to reset the progress if you do not use an item within a few seconds after completion? there are some moments where a walkthrough comes in handy, coz I was absolutely clueless. I played it years ago, but didn't finish, this time I did finish, it was OK, some puzzles were crazy, story was OK, I wanted more suspects and maybe a better ending, and less backtracking for items you need later and can't pick…

Huge improvement over the previous game. Better interface design. Puzzles are less convoluted, or at least more obvious. The voice acting is much better, specifically in regards to Nicole. The story is a wild trek, but plays fast and loose. Wishing there was more of Nick, but you can't have everything. IDK why this Mulder wannabe is my fav side character, but I adore his weird ex machina ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. The music is very good and not annoying. Sound is a bit loud and requires some custom fiddling.…

When you write a story, you need to have some idea of what you want the story beats to be. You also, kind of need to be a good writer. This game has a bad writer, one that probably didn’t get through college. The education level might not matter too much when it comes to writing compelling stories, but if you’re doing a detective investigation story, you kind of need to understand logic. Some understanding of dialogue would help as well. This game was written first in, I presume, Polish…

"Art of Murder - Hunt for the Puppeteer" is an ancient game from 2009. It's a whopping 15 years old at the time of this review (although it feels much older). The game lacks support for the typical features of modern gaming PCs, hasn't been modernised or updated to run smoothly on contemporary machines. The game looks and feels dated. Despite this lack of modernisation, it carries a pretty high price tag for such an old game. This seems to have be lingering on Steam with an inflated price…

So far 8 hours in to the game i do take my time with all games and would never pay money to rush something. As a player of point and click games since the 80s i can say they are still my favourite. The graphics does not even have to be great but when they are its a bonus. Its all about story with games like this. THe inventory and item collaboration is great. The story is compelling and is on par with the Act of murder franchise. Art of Murder: Hunt for the Puppeteer, developed and published by City Interactive S.A., is a traditional point-and-click adventure game that aims to deliver a dark and atmospheric murder mystery in the style of classic detective fiction. It continues the story of FBI agent Nicole Bonnet, who returns to investigate a string of bizarre and gruesome murders that stretch from the streets of New Orleans to the historic districts of Paris and beyond. The victims are all found posed like marionettes,…

I have already beated the game. Steam did not register my hours of gameplay due to some sort of bug. I have mix feelings with this game do to lack of widescreen support. This game plays like Syberia, except it is a lot harder. Especially the slider puzzle. If you can get the game working you might enjoy the game. Art of Murder: Hunt for the Puppeteer is quite the mixed bag, as other reviews illustrate. It's tough to even give it regular ratings, as some thing are all over the place, but let's give it a try... Music: 5/5 To put it bluntly, the music sounds like it's ripped straight out of an Artifex Mundi title, and that's not a bad thing. There's enough variation so it doesn't get too repetitive when you're in an area for a long time. Graphics 4/5 There are a lot of different locations in the game,…

The Hunt for the Puppeteer is a mystery/crime solving game in the old-school point & click genre. I quite enjoyed the game, but have to admit that towards the end I did get a bit frustrated with all the back and forth action. In my opinion, the major flaw with this game is that you cannot pick up useful items until the point in the game where you need to use them, even though you just KNOW that the rope or the rock or the scissors will be needed farther down the line. This was also an issue in…

The second installment to the Art of Murder series following FBI investigator Nicole Bonnet. Although the summary implies following the trace of a serial killer, the plot itself gravitates towards a different direction. For someone like me who enjoys a darker sort of mystery, it did leave me disappointed. That's not to say that the story is by any means terrible, it just wasn't what I hoped for. Gameplay-wise, it works much like the first game. Definitely less confusing although you would…

Oh Art of Murder, you have disappointed me so. Even my immense love for Nicole (she makes me laugh, okay?) could not save this game. While an improvement from the first game in some ways - better animation, the voice acting gets an upgrade (though it's still hilarious and stiff as the genre dictates), and some of the controls are better - overall it's just simply not good. The solutions to puzzles are insane, even for the genre, and Nicole, my love, just does not help you at all. She'll just…

The Art of Murder: Hunt for the Puppeteer is not yet old enough to vote, but it does behave like a clueless teenager. I like adventure games, but I like ones that don't feel stupid. Here you play an FBI agent on loan to the Paris police because a recent killing is similar to a series of murders back in the states. Insultingly, the French are portrayed as relatively fat and lazy, as they do not do a thorough investigation and refuse to work on the weekend. That said, they have nothing on your…

A decent point-and-click adventure. Some of the puzzle solutions can be opaque and there's issues where you can't pick up items you know you need until certain dialogue options are pressed, so it can get frustrating if you think faster than Nicole. But an interesting case/story that is worth the investment if you're willing to muddle through those irritating instances.

This makes you really think about solving every piece of event regarding the investigation which makes you go, "Oh, I really need help to solve this one using someone's in-game walkthrough" xD Fret not, you can still solve some without the help from the walkthrough. a great point and click game, the second game in the Art of Murder series. Very interesting story line, but something that was frustrating was combining items in your inventory. Example: if you had both pen and paper in your inventory, and wanted to combine them, the gameplay makes you do it one way, like you could click on the pen to combine it to the paper, but you couldn't click on the paper to apply it to the pen. So that's frustrating. I also wish that there was a bit more dialogue from…

AoM - HftP delivers almost the same as the first game, somewhere a little bit better (dialog interface - you can see when there is no more topics), somewhere a little bit worse (interact interface - like use the key on the motor fails, go closer to the vehicle and then use the key works). If you liked the first one, then you should play this too.

It is your basic point and click game. If you like point and click games, this is an average one. Some of the puzzles lacked logic. Others required you to go back to talk to a person to ask for an item. It seemed as if the creator tried to extend game play by having you walk back and forth to pick up items only when you needed them. Or to go talk to a character and ask for items or specific things.

A game that at times is marginally better than FBI Confidential and at others way better, Hunt for the Puppeteer is still kind of annoying. And it is annoying because most of the ingredients for a good adventure are here: it follows, yet again the same plot as Still Life and yet again it expands to be a globe trotting hunting. Too little story, too many hard puzzles. And by hard puzzles, I mean illogical puzzles where the only way to figure them out is to check the walk-through multiple times. Point & click mystery games should have some kind of logic when it comes to puzzle solving. Some puzzles are easy, while others are harder.
