60 of 200 · most liked firstPosting this because every other review I saw was positive. Sadly, despite the cutesy theme, good intro and fun concept, the game is bloody awful. So many glaring problems. Imagine Rimworld, but you have to manually tell your colonist to chop down every individual tree. The micromanagement is endless. Your cats will wander off into enemy bases, drop what they were doing mid-task because they decided to go bath or sleep, run away from combats they can win and forget what they were ordered to do…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wish there was a wait and see rating option. Having played a full 2 hours this is my take away, for now, remembering that the game is in early access. Catizens is a cute colony simulation game that still needs a lot of polish to make it a great game. I will edit this review as the game itself updates with my thoughts and opinions, but here are some of the areas I think need improvement. 1. Entirely too much micromanagement, which gets to be a real pain the more cats you have in…

Mah wife served me with the divorce purr-pers earlier today after confur-ronting me about this. Apurrently she will be taking the kitts and leaving meow to go live with her new lover in South Cat-olina. He has room fur them in an ameowzing beach house. Mah felines are hurt and very fur-ragile right meow but hopefully the pain will paws soon. Its ruff. If anyone can purrlease help me find a good…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played it a few hours. The atmosphere is nice. The pace is relaxed. The vibe is good. Graphics are ok. Controls a bit clunky. But so far so good. And then you hit about 6 cats (only 6? Yes, only 6). And you realize that you need to micromanage everything. When they go to sleep. When they go play. When they wash. When they socialize. And if you don't their happiness quickly drops from 8 to 1 (on a scale 1 - 10). And then there is combat. 2 cats go into combat. Enemy comes with reinforcements.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Adorable game with incredible potential. Having a lot of fun recruiting and controlling all of my little cats in my little colony. That said, in the current state of the game, I would not recommend it. This game has a crazy amount of bugs. These are bugs that have been brought the the dev's attention years ago that still haven't been addressed such as cats with the clumsy trait completely disregarding tasks given to them once they fall over. Bed assignments mean absolutely nothing because cats…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Alright, so I finished currently available three and a half missions and I think that time has come to give this masterpiece a proper meowiew. Do I love Majesty? -Yes Do I love Sims? -Yes Do I love city building simulators? -Yes Do I love cats? -Of course yes! If you are in love with at least two things I mentioned above, you will really love Catizens! And since I'm in love with all four things mentioned above I can say for sure: this game is amazing! What's more important, the further…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A simple little colony builder about kitty meows. Each cat plays a different role in your feline society and can train other cats to follow suite. There's a campaign mode and litter box mode to play around with. The art style is cute and I spent more time trying to collect cats than build a master piece. It's a bit short but super fun!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →20+ update: It grows on you. Still got lots of problems. I still wouldn't recommend to someone because there's nothing you can do to change the game to fit how you want to play. Rimworld and Sims have mods and dev mode to switch things up. This does not. Issues: Cat list is too large in size. You can't change size. You have to keep scrolling. Scrolling seems to very top and very bottom if you use the the mouse scroll. 'Slept on Ground' - debuff even when specifically having the cat sleeping…

unlabelledView post →It is a very cute game and love how it looks BUT I have some negative points. It is also very buggy. Multiple bugs that I had during the stream too so people saw them. Some so bad I had to restart the game. There isn't enough ways to get food at the start. I started on a 2 level map with no way to get stairs until lvl 5 which took a long time. People died from lack of food! No catnip on the level I spawned on either. Not enough buildings. There seems to just a small amount of buildings. No…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A while ago I found a game breaking bug in the lava area (the final levels) the whelplings would just fly through my stone walls/gates and destroy me after starting the level. I couldn't do anything as they were coming so fast and I couldn't out heal the damage or collect enough resources. I reported it to the devs through their discord and they told me the fixed it but it would be a while before the patch rolled out on out on steam to fix it. It has been 3 months..... I was very much enjoying…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A cute game which is entertaining enough for a while - but too many of the mechanics are clumsily implemented or poorly conceived, and the level of micro-management required to have a functional colony just becomes excruciating. Every single cat needs you to constantly tell and/or repeatedly remind them what they need to do or things completely fall to pieces, which saps all the fun out of the experience, especially as the colony grows. On top of that, loads of aspects aren't explained…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A game about cats :) But its very tedious to get the cats to stick to a single task of picking up materials before getting distracted. Especially if they have negative persoanlity traits. And with the update, the nekomancer class doesn't immediately heal anymore due to the very long animation added with full release. Now I can't progress any further without having to restart the level entirely because of those dragon whelps.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Too damn hard/time-consuming even on Catsual. Got stuck on level 4. Too stressful, not chill at all.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a cute game but there's too much micromanagement. Basically there are a lot of negative mood things that you have to manually tell the cats to fix even when you have it set to not overwork them. It becomes unplayable with larger cat colonies. I love the idea of the game but they have a lot to fix, things like bathing to get rid of fleas and drying off should be something cats decide to do on their own just like sleeping.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I genuinely wanted to like this game; it has a lot going for it. It's very cute, the character level progression is fun, and makes it worthwhile to have several different members of the same job (because there are interactions both with the level tree *and* the base talent/traits that the cats come with; very cute). The building system is nice, clean and simple. There's not a ridiculous abundance of different materials that unnecessarily complicate things. It has all the makings a good…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't recommend it yet. Its cute, but gameplay have a lot of problems. Wait a few years and it will be a good game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There's just not enough going on. It's a village simulator, but the mechanics of the village are dead simple. It's mildly entertaining for a short while, but then boredom sets in pretty quickly. Yes, it does have a lot of micromanagement, where you need to issue direct orders to cats to explore, or open chests, or fulfill one of the cat requests. Micro isn't decision making, it's just needing to issue a lot of orders that don't require any thinking. It's cat themed, and the cats do things…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has been a love hate relationship I went in to it not really knowing much about it other than the basics from the store page. I thought it was an open world crafting and building type game and while it sort of is, it is not. The tutorial leaves a lot to be desired but that aside it's a fun game but annoying. I'd say it's semi open world. You start out at level 1 and create a town then you move to level 2 and have to start all over with no resources and create another town and meet the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →God, this game is awful. The graphics are definitely not to the quality shown in the videos or screenshots on the store page. Do you want to control more than one character at a time? Good luck with that. There is no queuing of tasks, just one at a time. You have to babysit each individual cat through every single task you want them to do at all times, and even then, they have a habit of walking off and doing lord knows what for absolutely no reason. The most exciting thing about this game is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Catizens is an adorably cute city building strategy game. A balance of Sims-Like catual and general City building RTS. This gives it more direction You train your cats in various specialties, and eventually take on enemies who will try to loot and pillage your growing city. You grow your village to produce food and resources to either use to feed your cats and grow further or to sell for gold to use on other things. The game has a perfect balance of laid back casual with strong…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're looking for an actual city builder, this isn't it. The games cute, but very barebones. I bought it because I've had my eye on it for awhile, but after spending over a good hour in the game, it just didn't feel like a game. You have a handful of buildings you can build, with some unlocking when you resolve requests from your cats. You can have them talk to each other and become BFF's, but that's about it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ok wellllll.... Lets just say they took all the tedious parts of sims and rimworld and combined them. It feels like early access though, so hopefully they'll be improving on making it less tedious. It started off fun but after the 2 hour mark it just gets tedious. The warrior cats can't seem to do anything but fight and gather. Which makes them pretty useless but you do need a good amount of them when your people do get attacked, so you kinda just get left with these useless cats who's…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm leaving a negative review because there was a bug during the tutorial caused me to accidentally skip it, and I see no way to go back and do the tutorial again. Starting a new game skips the tutorial now. It's PERMANENTLY skipped. I'm sure I could uninstall and reinstall (maybe) but I shouldn't have to hassle with that. I'm just going to play something else. The controls are also bad, there's too much sandboxyness even in the non-sandbox mode (you can completely create your characters from…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Catizens is a cosy little exploration and city building game, where you have to herd a small group of adventuring cats. You primarily collect food resources and build shelter for your Catizens before you start to explore the map and defeat the enemies to gather even more resources to maybe upgrade your gear or little town. The campaign lets you unlock more classes and buildings as you progress through the currently available stages. (3 at time of the review) It starts out harmless with only…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's damn hard to balance between citybuilder and tower defense. I'm not used to the combination of these genres in this form, because the game is cute and bright on one hand, and a little stressful on the other. It's hard for me to definitely recommend it yet, but I enjoyed the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I never thought the day would come when I wouldn't want to have any more cats. That day hasn't yet arrived.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sadly i probably would not be playing in reality click cat click where click again wait 10 seconds or longer to walk its like a facebook style phone game save the cats from the volcano i just don't really care for it but if you like facebook games such as dragon farm adventure or the island building games this would be for you
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Heya folks, here's a short featuring an indie simulation game called Catizens. This is the first I've played this game since 2022, when it launched into early access. It's long since been released, however. #catizens #videogames #indiegames #simulationgames #shorts #gameplay
unlabelledView post →This game should still be in early access due to the number of bugs that can either ruin the game or even soft lock it... Now that I bought it, I will continue, because the concept itself is great, but otherwise, it's sometimes a nightmare to play it... I already rage quited because of bugs ruining everything. Oh, and fun fact: the "Report bug" button also led me to a soft lock.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately, I can not recommend this game. It is cute and so. But: - controls are terrible - battles are messy and unbalanced - cats are wandering all over the place going out of reach and getting themselves killed - no way to build decorations or even defenses freely, everything is locked behind skills/traits/wishes/etc. - insane raids just from start on some missions, forcing to restart over and over on normal difficulty

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is a bright and cute part, as well as a dark and combative one. There is something for everyone. I hope that mods will appear in the game and you will be able to see the cats' journey in a new way.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My only fighter got killed. My town was starving. None of them wanted to forage. They only wanted to eat meat. The enemies near the spawn were closing in. And even in their final moments, the only thing they cared about was the fact one of them was stinky.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yes, you have to like cats to understand this game better. Because they won't do what you expect them to do and it's very confusing at first. I'm glad that the animals are not just decorations and their behavior is quite realistic. The game has the vibes of the Warrior Cats book series. I guess I would like a little more magic and the ability to have kittens to make it perfect for me
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Went into the forest to get catnip. Was attacked by a boar. Was saved by a knight. Was cured by a mage. Went into the forest again to get catnip. Kicked out of the settlement for drug addiction.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I absolutely adore this game. I got so addicted to it so quickly. The only thing that I personally find very annoying is a lot times trying to save your fighter cats from battle, they tend to not do what they are told. (Yes! I know they are cats after all, but still!) Hehe. Which then escalates, kills them all and you end up having to restart. Which can be pretty frustrating. Other than that, I love it all! For me the biggest thing is probably that you have levels and objectives to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I absolutely love this game! The artwork is beautiful and the cats are adorable. It is a city builder mixed with a bit of farming and combat. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well this was a disappointment, city builder with cats as citizens should have been an easy win, cause it’s cute representative of genre, that is not that often provides lovely titles. Buuut, just look at screenshots - graphics look like they were lifted from mobile device and unfortunately gameplay along with ui too. What’s interesting that it seems like Catizens was not made for that, it was a pc game, however as mentioned does not feel like that. Sound design matches quality of two other…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The clumsy controls and camera discouraged me to play the game. Too awkward even as an adult, let alone for the young ones. A pity because it looked like it could be fun to play.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game portrays itself as a cute, cozy animal crossing game with cats. It's great! Then some rats kidnap, cage, and murder your cats. Wtf. 10/10

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Release: Sadly i don't think they got there. Its much improved from before, but still has major problems with the gameplay loop. Cats still are too stupid to prevent themselves from going to a starvation cycle. bridges and ladders screw up cat pathing very badly, and will be the source of many dead cats. Cats can't be permanently assigned to jobs as far as i can tell, and will let food rot in the fields, or will leave the cooking station to do dog knows what. Fighting cats level up painfully…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Did not live up to what I hoped it would be, which would be.... an in depth survival crafting game with kitty cats. Instead, it's shallow and with far too little to do to make it worthwhile. A great could-have-been game.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoy this game; it is like the Sims but actually has a survival method to it. The game is very fun and engaging, because you want the wellbeing of your Catizens. If you neglect them: they may die or you'll lose Catizens, and if you lose an important character to something like death, the game is basically over. The game is coming from the ground up and finding a way to thrive. Pros: - Engaging - Interactive - Allows for creativity - Cute design, good graphics - Buttons and controls…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →THIS GAME IS NOT FINISHED However, I still like it! I bought it after playing the demo, hoping to support the developers. I am still really enjoying it actually. I'll give you a little run down on what you can do (so far): There is a campaign mode. It's simple, but its there! I've spent over 2 hours playing it. There is also a free mode. You can place the houses and farms wherever you like. Each cat has traits, some with wishes that unlock special items. The cats…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is VERY hard, from what I can tell. Played sandbox mode on easy to learn the game since it was my first time trying, (and I have 0 background info on it), and it's genuinely rage inducing. The cats are weak and pathetic and die from so much as a gust of wind in the wrong direction. I think the devs forgot the part where the cats shouldn't die easily for a difficulty level intended "for those who want to focus on taking care of their cats". Colony management runs exclusively on taking…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game looks very cute but is has major flaws, normal mode is way too hard, and easy mode doesn't give you enough gratification for playing. I'm leaving a positive feedback but the game is like 5/10 right now, if you're reading this, get it on a heavy discount or wait until the game fully releases to see if it's better or worse than now.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am addicted to this game. There's way more to it than most games like this and it seems simple but it's not. I'm still trying to figure it out and I've been playing it all day. Super cute, fun, and challenging. I like playing Sandbox more than Campaign.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing and fun, however I can not recommend it because of the reasons I will be listing down below: Report bug does not work. Gold mines have no accessable path and thus can not be used to mine a gold After investing a lot of levels in one of my cats, I got the perk to move buildings however the option to move buildings is nowhere to be found. Games optimization requires some work - the CPU usage with just a few cats is so damn high. The about section of the game contains HTML code as a text.…
