Grab these masterpieces before February 5th at 2 PM UTC and enjoy them forever 💜

Obviously, Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare is actually rather old by now, by all the main gameplay aspects. It's certainly not a "play-out-of-the-box"-type of entertainment. You have to tweak .exe file as well as some more game files to start it today. And to do that, you'll need to download something from various websites with…

Resident Evil itself is functionally an Alone In The Dark successor- that game sorta set the template for the entire genre, even if it's lesser remembered for a bunch of odd reasons. This is, functionally, a Resident Evil demake back to the style of Alone In The Dark.

unlabelledView post →The original game is a classic, although the PC version is definitely rough. Setting up the controller is a huge pain, there isn't a proper borderless fullscreen setting, just a handful of other little annoyances like that. CRUCIALLY: you must, and I mean must, go into your NVIDIA settings (or equivalent for your system) and limit this game's framerate to ~58 (anything close to but less than 60). This is an old game, and absolutely no safeguards have been set in place for higher framerates on…

It worked perfectly. Done. Go buy it. The drawbacks are the original TV resolution, you can't scale it in settings. It's English only and the most important one is the controller: it does work perfectly btw. They seem to use PS1 controller settings, my R2 and L2 did not register. You can use the joy stick though, so…

Every once in a while, however, I am finding myself a bit frustrated from just being stumped in general, because occasionally the clues you have to find to move forward can be a bit of a stretch of logic (that's my opinion). This one hurts tho, because the game is fun, but this port is horrible. This game NEEDS a remaster. The Technical Issues No resolution option and the aspect ratio is locked to 4:3. For the 4:3 aspect ration, this is fine, it was designed that way back in the day (but if you hate 4:3 and want to play in 16:9, the game will be stretched). For the resolution tho, the game's…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First playthrough review time. Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare is a third-person survival horror game with fixed camera angles and tank-style controls. You move through different areas, solve puzzles, and deal with enemies while managing limited resources. The game has two playable characters, each with a different path through the game. One focuses more on combat, while the other focuses more on puzzles and progression. This gives some variety in how the game plays. Items can be easy…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Alone in the Dank: The New Nightmare was 2001 reboot of the series, after a long pause. Seeing how Resident Evil took AitD1 mechanics and improved them directly, this reboot also rides directly on top of what Resident Evil did. Pretty much same controls and all. Spooky. Well, it's not exactly a reboot, it can be seen as taking place in same universe as original, but mostly because "every 40 years new Edward Carnby is born" and that's about it, no relationship otherwise. Yep, it's a new Carnby,…
