Alone in the Dark is a survival horror video game published by Atari, Inc. and is the fifth installment of the series under the same name. The game was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 2, Xbox 360 and Wii in Europe, North America, and Australia in June 2008. It was working for me before, maybe 2 years ago but in 2023 it just crashes after the main menu. It’s a shame because I have been curious to play through this for a long time. I played the demo on Xbox 360 a long time ago but never got around to playing the full game.

Clunky, awkward controls, and the joystick works only when it feels like it. Not even patches can save it. This version hasn't just aged poorly, it's become completely unplayable. It’s not the game’s fault; it’s the port’s fault. Don’t play it on PC. If you really want to enjoy it… an emulator is a must.

Everything is pure jank, the controls feel unresponsive, getting through any climbing section is just pure pain because the game doesn't seem to work well. Also, I just hate games that you need to patch with fan-made fixes just to make them playable. Don't think I'll ever open this game again, it's just really unplayable. Wish I could refund it.

So I refunded it as a non played game the day after attempting to play and ran into the code needed if you could fix that id give it another purchase and try again but I would not recommend buying this if you don't own a physical copy somewhere.

I 100%'ed this game on the PS3 and its a joy to play again! No controller support and has some janky elements. But really not a big deal. Love it!
