I just can't give this a recommend. A solid game but ruined by the same tedium of the first two. The back and forth to flip this or that switch and the mediocre combat make me a sad panda. Another time I wish there was a middle of the road vote button but since there is not, the tedious game play makes me give this a thumbs down.

Alien Breed 3 aka shaky cam: the game. Everything is shaking in this game. The screen is shaking after every explosion that occurs every 5s, the menu is shaking, the UI is shaking and even the map is shaking. I would play it if it weren't for these irritating effects but I can't recommend Alien Breed 3 in this state.

A fun game but I digress on one point... they replaced the voice actor from the 1st game in the series. Grrr... Still, yet, it is doable. Graphics are nice and have held up for this type of game. Sound and music are nice as well. I have not completed the game yet but am stuck in some of the more maze like patterns. It is just a matter of time. Recommended!

Consider this a review of the entire trilogy, the only noticeable differences between the three games are a couple of weapons and a different coloured interface that matches the ambient lighting. There's some good here, but these games are full of poor design decisions and awkward controls that aren't bad enough to make them unplayable but will frustrate you constantly. The production values are average for the era, and the games look fine at first glance, but the animation quality does not…

The Alien Breed Trilogy is a less than decent twin stick shooter with a sufficiently mysterious narrative that actually kept me going to the end (of all three). However, every time I find myself enjoying the game, its short comings slap me to my senses and prevent me from ever getting immersed. This has been an exercise in identifying poor user experience and player discomfort. I cannot recommend this game when there are twin-stick shooters out there, like Shadowgrounds, that I've enjoyed with…

Very generic gameplay. As previously mentioned, the trilogy would've made more sense as one complete game versus three games that are 4 hours long each. Combat leaves a lot to be desired. The entire trilogy can be summed up as a re-route simulator. Any time you attempt to loot you are bombarded by enemies that stop this process. The end "boss" is recycled and after three games, the ending doesn't serve any justice. Severely underwhelming.

This is my second favourite version of Alien Breed, second to the first game in the series. I've spent a lot of time playing this game and all the games in the series. If you are new to the series I would suggest you start with the first game, however, the gameplay IS essentially the same in every version. Pros: -Same old Alien Breed gameplay. If you like it, you will like this version. -New and visually impressive maps and bosses, some new guns. -Good sound effects, graphics, music, and…

This game is just a reskin of the first one in the series, so I'll just copy paste my review for that one here: I wish there was a "meh" category. The shooting is actually quite fun, but that's the problem. Most of the game isn't shooting, instead it consists of walking back and forth across a very long linear map. In fact the way that they designed the levels is akin to "suicides" if you ever ran those in gym class. "Ok so go to point A. That's great now head back to the start. Now go to…

Team17, the developer best known for the creation of "Worms" and other such classics are the ones responsible for bringing us the subject of my next review, a lesser-known title but a particularly lustrous gem nonetheless. The Alien Breed Trilogy is a series of third-person shooters. Like their more popular distant cousins the FPS, they too automatically come with an 'action' tag by association because that's what we all (myself included) have come to expect from the genre. Alien Breed 3: Descent is the climactic finale of Team17’s modern revival of the classic Alien Breed series, delivering a tightly focused, action-heavy conclusion that leans into spectacle, pressure, and mechanical refinement rather than reinvention. Designed as the third chapter in an episodic trilogy, the game assumes familiarity with its predecessors and escalates their ideas into a relentless descent toward survival or annihilation. From the opening moments, the tone is urgent and…

AB 3: descent is the worst of the 3 Alien Breed games. It's like they run out of ideas and inspiration. Interestingly, the shortcomings of the first 2 games are highlighted here, instead of being erased: - the environments are really too dark this time, I understand they had to create such a setting because this time you are placed on the alien ship and there is no artificial light there but still. - too much camera shaking and explosions. - this time the game forces/fixes some camera…

I'm just going to review all three in this end cap title. They are fun! Aliens-inspired remakes and despite some camera flimflam and bugs in 3 the single player experience is a fun run and gun through all three games. I expected the same gameplay experience from all three. That is what was delivered. They start getting a bit 'cinematic' in the final title which makes for some awkward encounters where your true boss is the camera and far respawn points but that doesn't take away too much…

This game is a slog to get through. Boring as hell, and it's way longer than it's supposed to, like 3 hours longer at least. I liked the first one, the second was a bit boring by the end, but this is just bad from the start. There is always a locked door, a missing key card, an elevator power surge or a flood to drain, everything is designed to waste your time and prolong the gametime. And the character is stuck on every little piece of terrain on the map, that is frustrating af.

Same review as in the case of the AB 2. It's mostly the same thing, so it applies: Although, technically speaking it's almost the same as the 1st game, this one—especially towards the end—tends to be more of a frustration-fest than an actual challenge. During the first half, it's okay to save up ammo through 'tactical back-paddling while shooting the pistol'; it adds to the tension and thus it enriches the gameplay, sorta'. But later on, enemies start to pop up from everywhere, figuratively…

Like the second game, the pistol, assault rifle, shotgun, and flamethrower return, but the last two weapons change again. This time you get a gun that shoots an electric bolt and a gun called "Project X" that shoots what I can only describe as a sphere of energy that explodes on contact with a powerful AoE shockwave. There's a lot to be said for the philosophy of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," but there's also the fact that you can have too much of a good thing. Really, this should have…

The game masterfully blends narrow corridors, limited ammunition, and hordes of relentless aliens, creating a thrilling and immersive experience. The first Alien Breed was a fun but very limited twin stick top down shooter. Repetitive, overstretched and lacking in variety. Each successive game has remedied these faults and aimed for a bigger, grander experience. Part two was great, Part 3 is even better. I'm going to assume that if you're looking for a review of 3 that you're familiar with the others, as each parts story directly continues on from the previous game. What a way to wrap up a massively enjoyable trilogy reboot series! Team17 really brought the story telling to another level in the final installment, got me fully invested and truly gripped my full attention. So it ends the story of the series, but kinda with an open ending. It seems to be the least polished one in the series. Gameplay wise it is pretty much the same, but you get stuck a lot of times, wich didn't happen in the other games. They changed a few guns and added one really annoying enemy type, that stuns you. Descent concludes the Alien Breed trilogy with more of the same levels, aliens, and for the most part weapons. As in the previous episodes, the assault rifle, shotgun, and flamethrower make up the bulk of the arsenal, with the more exotic weapons being all but useless. Most aliens are too fast and most environments too cluttered, and weapons like the rocket launcher or the BFG-clone that replaces it in the third chapter, do more harm than good. This is an excellent way to waste a few hours. I was a big fan of the original game and so when this new and updated version came out I was pretty excited. From what I can remember of the 90's game, this seems to be pretty faithful to the original. Pick up a gun, kill aliens. Admittedly some of the mission tasks can be pretty repetitive, and the story.. exists... but thats not what this game is about. The game is not bad, quite short, but that's good because it gets repetitive quickly. The story is not bad. The explosions could have been smaller and the controls more stable. For me, the big minus is the upgrade system. Too small and too expensive. The best of the 3 entries, the devs learned how to use all of its assets efficiently, designing better maps and making better use of the camera. It is also free of game breaking bugs (looking at you Alien Breed 2!!). It introduces a new enemy type (excluding bosses) and adds 2 weapons. But it's one of those that if you've played any of the entries, it doesn't justify or adds anything to play another. It's just more of the same.
