Developer Team17 Digital Ltd
Alien Breed 2: Assault is a video game in Team17's Alien Breed series and is the second new title in the series since 1996 after Alien Breed Evolution. It was released on Steam, Xbox Live Arcade, and PlayStation Network in 2010. The follow-up Alien Breed 3: Descent was released on 17 November 2010. The game continues the story of Alien Breed Evolution (and consequently, Alien Breed: Impact) of engineer Theodore J.… From Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0)

Pretty much all the same here (but with more of everything) - more enemies thrown at you and more elaborate level puzzles to solve. The graphics are powered by the unReal engine and are serviceable by today's standards, the music is also good and the voice acting so so. The story line has some touching moments between Conrad (protagonist) and his robotic lady, Mia. All in all a fun game to play and…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Alien Breed 2: Assault (2010) proves the saying "if it are not broke, do not fix it" has never been more relevant in the gaming. Just like its cousins Alien Swarm (2010) and Alien Shooter (2003), this game is a notable example of maintaining a level of almost impressive stability. Much like the Alien Swarm project, Alien Breed 2: Assault offers you the rare joy of navigating through claustrophobic corridors, creating the illusion that all you need to explore the entire universe is the ability…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't understand the positive reviews. Alien Breed 2 could have been decent if done right but it has the same flaws as its predecessor: 1. screen-shaking effects after every explosion which happens every 3-6s. 2. navigating the menu is still annoying with all these effects. Maybe I would enjoy it if I could turn off ALL EFFECTS but I can't recommend the game in this state.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What can be said about the Alien Breed Trilogy? 1. Conrad gets hung up on the slightest piece of geometry - if he barely brushes the corner of a railing he will come to a dead stop. 2. Enemies often spawn directly underneath you. 3. Anytime you have to activate a console you can easily expect a swarm of enemies to spawn in your immediate vicinity. 4. The screen shaking is annoying. 5. Every objective is the same - the motor / power / generator / filter is down, go reactivate it. Oh but the…

One Crank = One Shake. Do nothing? Don't worry, the base is exploding like a heartbeat in the background. Sha-shake... Sha-shake... Start a machine to move some platform? Rumble Shak-k-k-k-k-k-k-k-e. No, you cannot turn off camera shake. If you like electrical snow: pause the game. No, you cannot stop people from waving magnets over your CRT pause menus.…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The screen shake from the first game is finally gone, there is more money, I feel like? to get upgrades, heals and ammo. There was no difficulty spikes, I only needed to use a turret twice and never used the armor consumable on the highest difficulty. During a level, I feel like there was 2 paths, one led me to be overwhelmed because I was saving a turret and wasn't expecting an immediate wave of survival and died, the other path played like usual. Overall was on par with the first 1. I'm…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I mean... The developer should've waited and combined all 3 games into one. Similar to the first. The game is a lot of "♥♥♥♥ this door malfunctioned, go elsewhere" and "Sorry, conrad. You went this way for nothing. You must double back" Combat is generic and not exciting. Boss fight had ♥♥♥♥♥♥ camera angles and left a lot to be desired. Again... this really makes me wonder why these weren't all combined to be one complete game? Money grabbers, bruh.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →We need to have an honest conversation about Alien Breed, particularly Alien Breed 2, on Amiga. I've come to the realisation that it's not a good game. Needlessly punishing, poor level design and repetitive gameplay which doesn't feel satisfying.

It looks like a new game and has aged amazingly well. The comic-book style interludes and the voice acting are great. It has full controller support, it's just missing on-screen button icons. One thing I'd recommend is going online and looking up how to unlock the refresh rate beyond 60Hz, as for some reason it's capped. I wish they'd do…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Alien Breed 2 Assault loves to waste your time. Repetitive, annoying backtracking, dizziness inducing camera shake, poorly made cut-scenes, but I still like it. So, if you have a few bucks to spend and some time to waste, give it a try. 5/10

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If I would need to describe this game in 3 words, it would be explosions, corps and cutscenes. This game is pretty short and have wayy too many cutscenes for my taste. There's one every 5 min, showing something that you opened / closed / blowed up / turned on.. Gameplay is okay. Controls are a bit clunky, need to get used to them. You'll definitely change default keybinds as some of them are really weird. There are parts in game where your camera will go from top-down to 3rd person. It's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just finished Alien Breed 2 and honestly… I spent half the game feeling like a space janitor with a gun and no budget. The atmosphere is chef’s kiss though. It's dark, creepy, and constantly whispering “you’re about to run out of ammo.” Which you will. A lot. Loot is so scarce that finding a single medkit feels like winning the lottery. It’s tense, a bit unforgiving, and somehow makes opening a locker more exciting than most boss fights. If you enjoy being underprepared in a space nightmare……

unlabelledView post →This is the definition of a game that time forgot. This is a twin-stick, top down shooter that just screams "mid-2000's game design". First it makes you sit and wait while it installs the UE3 framework, which I haven't had to do in forever. The corridors are are so washed of color, it can make it hard to make out your character from the background in some situations. The gameplay is solid, but nothing special considering the genre. I got this game for free years ago during the 2011 Summer…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Amiga version of Alien Breed 2. Bitch is hard as nails in a coffin. In comparison the Alien Breed trilogy on PC on hardest difficulty is a walk in the park.
unlabelledView post →Although, technically speaking it's almost the same as the 1st game, this one—especially towards the end—tends to be more of a frustration-fest than an actual challenge. During the first half, it's okay to save up ammo through 'tactical back-paddling while shooting the pistol'; it adds to the tension and thus it enriches the gameplay, sorta'. But later on, enemies start to pop up from everywhere, figuratively speaking at 'every other step you make'. And that's a problem. It's not like it is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While did enjoy first Alien Breed game and second delivers more of the same, it kind of doesn't. One point is still that played this one on hardest difficulty aka Elite instead of Veteran. Tested rookie after beating the game and it was truly fits it's name, think someone who hasn't even used controller before might have enough time to deal with them aliens. So first two levels went ok, thing this time around levels are way more darker and claustrophobic and also felt like there were more…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is not bad, quite short, but that's good because it gets repetitive quickly. The story is not bad. The explosions could have been smaller and the controls more stable. For me, the big minus is the upgrade system. Too small and too expensive. There are only three upgrades for the hero, for each weapon there are also three, but you can only use one and most always for more power. And nothing is saved if you start a free game. The prologue is a separate level from the campaign and is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's such a great game so far. It reminds me of the atmosphere of the game "Dead Nation" on PS3. But in Alien Breed 2 you can change the orientation of the view, which miraculously works well here.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While i recommend this game, i do so with the knowledge that this game's idea of challenge is to spawn enemies to the front and back of you in almost all situations , you are constantly going forward and backward to objectives. and that the only death i suffered in this game was the moment i switched to a missile launcher instead of my shotgun. Best bought and played when your in between games and want something simple , cheap and brainless to play.

After almost 2 hours of playtime, I quickly discovered how the chore of navigating through the linear claustrophobic corridors to greet the same variation of enemies I couldn't find an intensive within the sluggish primary gameplay loop to continue playing the game. The objectives seem mindlessly aimless with a Besthesda quest objective marker always pointing you in the correct location to head and that bundled with the monotony induced combat of slowly walking away…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shockingly bad. Short, boring monsters, very little story and the worst control/camera system I've encountered.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ah, Alien Breed 2: Assault, a game that takes the phrase "bug infestation" to a whole new level! Imagine my surprise when I booted up the game, ready to blast some extraterrestrial critters, only to find myself knee-deep in an alien infested space hulk that makes my kitchen's ant problem look like a minor inconvenience. The story kicks off with Conrad, who seems to have taken one too many punches to the head, fighting through hordes of aliens that apparently missed their last pest control…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Assault, the second installment in the Alien Breed trilogy, picks up immediately after the end of the first episode. The protagonist inexplicably loses all of his weapons and upgrades and essentially starts over, playing through another five levels that are virtually indistinguishable from the last. The only exceptions are that the sequel locks the camera and obscures player’s visibility a lot more often, adds uninspired boss fights, and introduces an escort mission that is as much fun as any…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have finished this game some years ago and this is one of the saddest games that I have ever played. The gameplay is liimited, the story is rather irrelevant, the weapons are ♥♥♥♥ and playing with anyone is worse than having cancer. I would not force my enemies (and I have none) to play this game either alone or with a friend. Why? Quite simple, the weapons are ♥♥♥♥ and the checkpoints are a nightmare. I am unsure why anyone would develop such a ♥♥♥♥ game just to release something. Just…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Recommended. A punchy top-down horde shooter on a ghost ship, whose weapon feel and log-driven horror carry a structure worn thin by detours and a climax that ends without a fight. The Hyper Blaster, assault rifle and flamethrower are properly kick-ass, and Intex vending upgrades give every earned credit an immediate home. Carol's diary of a station dying of a manufactured flu is the grimmest, best writing here, and the locked-camera set-pieces (the spiral room, the defence-gun holdout) break…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →plenty alien. and it's amazing that the game runs so well on modern resolutions and hardware. not a lot of breeding tho
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Consider, if you would, the notion that I had merely copied the positive sentiments expressed in my review of the first installment in the Alien Breed trilogy, and, with brazen complacency, pasted them as my evaluations of the subsequent two entries in the series. Would such an act of deceit and slothfulness be likely to inspire approbation or reproval? I rather suspect that the keen observer would cast a critical eye upon my efforts, denouncing such laziness as an affront to the very…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a pretty good 3D top-down conversion of Alien Breed 2D and plays more more less exactly the same as the 2D variants. Main difference is you pick up a lot less ammo and money and there are no count downs to find the deck lift. Only real annoyance is that each level has the same dark graphics.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are a few things that I dislike about the game: 1. Wall bug: In chapter 2 tunnel there is a possibility to walk into wall and never gets out. And there is tons of game play between then and the previous save point. 2. The game basically cuts back what I consider good but puts on more bad stuffs. It has LESS save points, way DARKER environment, player has to purchase ammunition (and if you come from AB1 this is going to be a nasty surprise) even in Rookie, still a LOT of explosions…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game gets repetitive after playing the first one and you can't disable the screen shake (and in a game where EVERYTHING is exploding, your screen will shake a lot).

I felt bad for Mia, I wasn't expecting the fate she had. The visuals and gameplay haven't changed at all, or almost not at all, the game itself remains the same. I didn't have the chance to try the co-op campaign. Maybe one day... O Mediano da Franquia Entre o primeiro e o terceiro jogo, achei este mediano. Ainda assim, é bom. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →(about 50% game completed - can't finish the game) Alien Breed 2: Assault is close the same title as first from trylogy. Even at this point this makes me feel its worst in realize than first. Team 17 made some cosmetics works and a little too small things in numbers which should rise the title to next level. I feel it is very close to just waste my time, than having fun and discovering well delivered mechanics and exposed events. Unwillingly I rate this game for: 5/10.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got this game for free as a reward during the 2011 Steam Summer Sale. I can tell why it was given away for free.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, old school.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So it continues the story of the first game and is pretty much the same gameplay wise. They changed a few guns and added one enemy type as far as I noticed. First time playthrough took me about 4,5 hours.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a good thing each Alien Breed has a fun set of three coop missions because the singleplayer is ridiculously bad: awful story that rips off Aliens, mind-numbingly generic enemies, repetitive tasks and environments, and practically no weapon variety. Trust me folks - you've played much better isometric games than this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →6.5/10 I'm going to assume that anyone reading this review played the first game in the series, Alien Breed: Impact, instead of just starting with this second game like a lunatic. Alien Breed continues to enrapture me with it's "Dead Space" vibes, with me directing Conrad the engineer on his quest to fix all the machinery on an alien-infested ship. Alien Breed 2: Assault introduces some new enemies to the series. One explodes into a sludge that slows down Conrad when he attempts to walk…

Main lifeless protagonist that's straight from the Gears of War series? Check. Evil A.I that's trying to kill you? Check. Alien Breed 2 is in just about every way a sequel to the first game. There is absolutely nothing that seperates it from the previous one as it's a continuation of last game's cliffhanger ending with the same top-down gameplay we've come to know from the series going back to the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I could only play about 30 minutes of it at a time. I never get motion sick. I can read in the backseat of a car doing 60 through windy mountain roads. I can ride any rollercoster there is. This game made my head and stomach hurt after 10-20 minutes. The screen is CONSTANTLY shaking. Even the menu has a ripple effect that just keeps going. I don't think you could design something to cause motion sickness more effectivly.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not that great.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Compared to the Alien Breed 1 (solo)... More monsters, more area (yet more linear) to prowl without area transition, more lag to make you aim all over the place. Much more locked views that are much more annoying. More back'n'forth wandering. More intense storytelling, which was a very positive suprise. Instead of 3 unused weapons, this time there's only two which I didn't use at all (flamethrower and rocket launcher). That laughing became soooo annoying over time. If you're interested of the…
