It bounces between leveling you up and giving you new guns, so that you continually feel like you are becoming more awesome. Beyond that - you just go from mission to mission killing hordes of aliens (and some soldiers) in this gritty top down graphic 2D game. Missions are fast but filled with monsters to the brim, so it will satisfy your desire for carnage while completing the story. There are plenty of guns to go around and a stats level-up system including a perk chosen at the beginning. Also the soundtrack is good, as is the overall sound design. For a much fairer price on discount, it can still be worth it to give it a try if you're into this era.

For me this is one of those games you play to take a brake from "heavier" games. It is nothing special, and the lighting and color can sometimes be an annoyance, it's also not one of those I'd play for hours to no end, but I really enjoyed it.
