But I cannot recommend this game in its current state. Unmemory is a port of a mobile game, a bad port. It forces the use of mobile scrolling direction, the mouse sensitivity is jittery, which means cutscenes would trigger before I had read anything because I had accidentally scrolled to them. All the cutscenes were…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A really nice puzzle games. I would say the level of difficulty is average. Not too easy, but not too difficult. The hints are quite useful when you don't know what to do, but I found the hint system a bit hidden and I did not know those were the hints when I first found them. If you like puzzle games that really need you to think, write notes and take some time to digest the information. This would definitely suits you. It may not have that much visual or animation, but the story, puzzles…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This noir thriller was able to really catch my attention. The story is good and actually interesting, though its ending is somewhat predictable. However, it is the way that it's told that manages to catch and immerse the player, messing with the text, audio and narration in multiple ways, all creating an amazing experience. But, of course, it is not a simple book, it is a game after all. The gameplay comes with the interactive images and text, and it is incredibly fun. You search for clues and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At the begining it was catchy. New type of game I played. Interesting puzzles. But more I played, more I wanted this game to be over. At chapter 6 I took walkthrough to finish it faster and be able to delete. Problem with this game is that story is not finished - something is missing. Some more explanation at least. It is neither in character's feet, neither in spectator's feet situation. To sum up, it is kind of investigation game with no investigation elements. It is not bad - it just not…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I backed Unmemory on Kickstarter because it looked like it was going to be a totally different and genuine experience, and I was not mistaken. This is a text-based game, yes, but it goes way beyond just that. The story is nothing new (amnesic guy can't remember past events and tries to uncover the truth) but it is implemented through some really clever gameplay approaches. During each of the game's chapters, you will have to carefully read the ongoing text while also interacting with some…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Apparently, the game Unmemory was developed as a mobile experience, but with a PC version in mind as well, which I’m really glad about, since I rarely play games on my phone and probably would’ve missed this one otherwise. Come to think of it, I can definitely see this interactive thriller with puzzle-adventure elements working well on mobile. It’d be great for a long bus ride or a train trip but like I said, I’d still prefer the PC version any day. You play as someone with a strange memory…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was reviewed using Version 1.0.28. Your experience on other versions may vary. Short Answer: A really interesting concept for a mystery game, with some very clever puzzles and solid execution of its more experimental ideas--the only problem being that it's a mobile game that still tries to emulate touchscreen-style controls with just your mouse. Numerous puzzles become much more tedious as they're designed to accommodate a smaller phone screen, and the constant usage of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Discovering Unmemory in a recent summer sale felt like finding an obscure novel that piques your interest in an airport newsstand bargain bin. Despite your skepticism about its quality, you buy it because it’s cheap, and you read it just to kill a few hours of your time. Not only did I get Unmemory at a mind-blowingly low price of about 1 USD, I also found it to be entertaining! Unmemory is aptly described as “a game you can read”/“a book you can play.” This interactive e-novella is 8 chapters…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is exactly as advertised; it's a book with mystery and gameplay elements inserted in the text and the pictures included alongside it. The game works great and is easy to parse. Up until Chapter 7, at least. There's a section where you have to hide in a wardrobe and then close your eyes. On mobile, you can do this by pinching the top and bottom of your screen and sliding inwards to close. But I only have a single mouse cursor to work with on PC, and so I obviously can't do this. I tried…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A bad port of a mobile game, not properly adapted for pc/monitor, with some parts not working properly because they were made for touch controls. Puzzles are a mixed bag, some good, some decent, some bad. As for the plot, on one hand it's your standard story with an amnesiac protagonist you've already seen in other games and media, on the other it feels like the kind of work where the authors would pat themself of the back thinking how a artsy, "progressive", anti-capitalistic story they…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The idea of this game sounds really unique and fun, sadly it is not too much fun to play. The story is very broken up and confusing and even after completing it I have no idea what the actual "solution" to the initial murder is. I am as confused as the main character with his memory loss. The puzzles, while interesting and one of a kind, rely on a TON of scrolling back and forth between clues and stuff, some are so absurd that needed a walkthrough to solve them. Sometimes you cannot interact…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The concept is fresh, but the story is rough and incomplete. You don't receive answers however the game says, "Come on, keep moving. Don't delve too much". Furthermore, I haven't seen the tag lgbt+ when I've been buying it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A puzzle game with an interesting concept. The noir thriller is entertaining and the escape room-like puzzles make good use of the format and are just the right level of difficult. I've had this game on my wish list for a while, but was hesitant to buy it because it had so few reviews. I'm happy that I decided to buy it in the end.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game features an interesting story-line with an old school point and click. However this point and click features a bit more mystery as akin to an escape room. It is definitely one of those experiences at which makes you want read both in-game and irl, which disclaimer: has a lot of texts. Player be aware, this experience is not to be rushed. Grab a beer, tea, or any other drink of your choosing and try not to spill it as the adventure continues. My only gripes about the game are some…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not flawless (see below), but it's an easy recommendation, especially for fans of intricate puzzles, interactive stories, escape room-flavoured games and so on. I was sucked into the game and didn't put it down until I was finished with it (well after 2 AM, which, admittedly, might've contributed to my feeling a bit confused at times). The story is a bit too convoluted, as are some of the puzzles. Good news is that both can be rectified somewhat by reading slowly and carefully (no cursory…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"A game you can read. A book you can play." Sounds great - except that means it lives and dies on the strength of its prose. And my god, the writing is bad. APPALLINGLY bad. Some of the worst writing I've ever read in videogames... and that's saying something. If bad writing drives you crazy? This is like a knife to the skull. Avoid, avoid, avoid.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun puzzle game with a nice multisensory story telling emphasis. I have to say though that the process of garnering the "materials" for the puzzle can be somewhat frustrating; for example the KLF puzzle requires something that is fairly obscure to find just to get started. The puzzles themselves, once you have all the materials needed, are alright at straightforward difficulty (hints are really optional), although I am particularly impressed by the last puzzle, the Dancers Numbers, the solution…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Steam achivements would be nice.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very interesting puzzle game where you scroll back and forth to find the clues. The plot is overly similar to Memento at times, but definitely worth looking at.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've only played the first chapter but UnMemory is such a unique game, I have a full page of notes in my notebook for just the first chapter too
unlabelledView post →Just finished UNMEMORY, a mystery game that plays like reading a PDF full of puzzles. Super clever one. In 10 days they’re releasing another one in the same style called YOUR HOUSE. It’s on a huge discount right now if you want to check it out. 𝘈𝘩, y 𝘦𝘴𝘵á 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦 𝘦𝘯 𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘢ñ𝘰𝘭. Link ⬇️
unlabelledView post →A peculiar puzzle narrative game with a very original gameplay and a weird story. This is a game originally designed to be played on a tablet or a phone, but given the complexity of the puzzles, it was great to be able to play this on a big screen while easily taking notes on the side. The game story is told through chapters. Each chapter is one very long book page with some various pictures and animations. And additional text sections are unlocked after solving all kind of puzzles. Clues on…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story may be somewhat familiar, but it's a unique and delightfully strange game for those who like puzzles. Similar to an escape room, but it's an escape book.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty unique gameplay. Unmemory is mostly story driven with light puzzles. The game involves a large amount of reading but with quite a few interactive elements. The story is interesting but it seems to be heavily inspired by the movie "Memento". Not just the amnesia plot, but also the narrator being a killer, and even using polaroids and tattoos to remember information, a character marked as a liar after crossing out "will help you", and a killer you are looking for with very few hints.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I feel mixed on this title all things considered. On one hand, the high quality pictures of objects and the way it mechanically subverted the way one reads the text was a delight. On the other hand, the story and the mystery it encompassed was banal and didn't resonate with me at the end. If a narrative that leaves much to be desired doesn't stifle your interest, I would encourage you to check this out if you're up for some light reading and puzzle-solving
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly one of the most unique games I've ever played. It was hard, and I think playing with a controller limited me a bit and made it more finicky/difficult (all on me for playing with the controller so that's not a criticism) but gosh, what a unique way of making a puzzle game! I immediately bought Delete After Reading and another by the same devs, I really adored the weird and different style of this one (for me, anyway, it was a new style of puzzle/narrative game) and appreciate the care…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love puzzles, and this had a very unique feeling to it. The puzzles were out of the box, and the story being interactive was great.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An unusual take on the text-based adventure genre. You should definitely not... forget to play this one.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An interesting little game. Expect to read a lot and solve a lot of interesting puzzles. I do love how non-straightforward the puzzles are and how you have to think a little bit laterally to see the solution. It was a really fun story as well. I didn't mind the clunky controls I eventually got used to it. Highly recommend this for those who love reading books and solving puzzles and wants a cool little amnesia story with both!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What is this exactly? It's a puzzle game that's also a book. Probably different than everything you've played before, tailored for folks who enjoy calm readable experiences, taking notes and sometimes thinking outside the box. Almost like an escape room, but it's a book.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Simple description, A game you can read. A book you can play. Neat visual, Just a bunch of texts, images, and objects to solve the puzzles. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3569096901
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mixed feelings, but thumbs down at the end. I enjoyed the mystery, despite being wishy-washy at the end, I just wish I played this on mobile instead. The scrolling and some gameplay mechanics works well on mobile but doesn't seem to translate well into PC.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice story and gameplay eperience
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For a game primarily about its interface, it's a pretty annoying interface. You can really tell this was a mobile port.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →1. Simple description, A game you can read. A book you can play. 2. Neat visual, Giving that aesthetic looks. 3. Nice concept, A noir thriller story with some 90's references. Just bunch of texts, images, and objects to solve the puzzles. In addition, It'd be a lot cooler if the game adds achievements & trading cards.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A text-based game with some very nice puzzles and an interesting story.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game. Very artistic.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like reading and I like solving puzzles, so this game seemed right up my alley. And it really was! The story is convoluted and confusing - mostly by design - and ultimately secondary to collecting clues and putting them together into puzzle solutions (at least for me). I did hit a minor snag when deciding if a thumb counts as a finger (spoiler alert: it does not ) Overall, it was a pretty quick play and an enjoyable use of those four hours.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Puzzles are smart but not too challenging. You may spend 4-5 hours to solve the game. The ending might be better..
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The concept and execution of this game/story is well done... I recognised the potential immediately in the previews, and very much wanted to both enjoy the game myself, as well as see it succeed for its well executed, unique design. Unfortunately, the story's genre just isn't one I tend to like, and I wasn't able to get past that. I rarely like mysteries unless it is combined with something else I enjoy, such as science fiction, fantasy, history etc... I hoped that the other elements of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really fun, different kind of puzzle game. the story was only okay all the way up to the end which was pretty good. I agree with another player, scrolling with the mouse wheel didn't always work like normal. It was a little sticky. You can see how the scrolling was better suited to mobile devices, but dragging the page up and down seemed to work better at these times. The beginning recommended taking notes. I did, even though all the information was still accessible somewhere on the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unusual game - reminiscent of the old text-based games we used to play. A little frustrating at times, trying to work out how to move forward. Worthwhile if you like adventure games and fancy something with a different interface.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unique style of game, I enjoyed this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was pretty fun! And a good length! And there are lots of little details that lead to easter eggs if you are watching carefully!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have played the first chapter and so far it seems quite enjoyable for its genre. If you are into puzzles and room escapes and what not; this seems to be nice. (Although needs a revise later for the rest of the chapters)
