I had cope with the fact that this is a story-driven serial and not pure management, when I was sent into gameover screen right out of the gate for staying clean, without bribes or deals with the mafia. I expected the difficulty to increase, but the game simply said no. "But we actually have a gang war in the next episode." Fine. Somewhere around day 60, even helping the mafia with every request and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An unfair, prolonged and badly designed experience, which shows all of its potential early, and never lives up to it. And that’s a real shame, because Jack’s story is one worth experiencing. Might be better off doing that on YouTube, though. I've been playing this game on and off ever since it came out — ten years now. And I finally decided that I'm going to finish it. I thought I was close — it certainly felt like it. Then, with dread, I discovered that I was barely through with half. But I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It might seem like just another simulation or RPG, but deep down, it feels more like a moral test against corruption.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I do like the premise of this game, a lot of love and care evidentially went into it, but it is simply too long and tedious to finish. As of writing this, I am on my third attempt to play through the game but I find myself getting bored at the same point. The first 20 in-game days are very enjoyable for me but by day 60 out of 180 I find myself feeling fed up and not wanting to continue. No matter what choices you make, the game seems to always find a way to make things overly difficult,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I give up. At the beginning of the game the story says something along the lines of "Jack doesn't deal with the mafia". And i though: "OK, thats cool. Lets go for a good-guy playthrough". I don't do deals with the mafia and i don't follow through on City Halls racist and sexist requests. Day 11 starts with a gunshot and then the text "Jack is dead". That was it for my playthrough, starting over is my only option... I get that the game is trying to go for the "You can't only be good or…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So, I'm sharing my impressions after a full playthrough of This Is the Police. Plot The characters are well-drawn, the dialogues are lively, and the cutscenes really grab your attention and keep you in constant tension and waiting for the events to unfold. The narrative is in the best tradition of drama and noir. If a film were made on the script of this game, it would be a great cinematic story, worthy of a wide screen. I didn't notice any illogicalities or script holes, although the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm not like cancelling the game or anything, because it's fun! And I'm glad someone made This Is The Police but without cops (it's still kinda cops,a bit)
unlabelledView post →Ok, I need to pick a game to play on stream, help me pick. The current list of potentials are: • Ape Escape • Borderlands • Fallout 4 • Grand Theft Auto V • Lego game (not sure which) • Persona 5 Tactica • Skyrim • This Is The Police • Watch Dogs Legion May be more. Suggestions welcome if cheap.

"This is the police" is much darker though, about corrupt police officers in some 1990s american minor city. You get to choose the morals of the chief of police - but playing this virtuously is definitely HARD mode. It's a noir, corrupt world. Expect to dispatch police officers to deal with racist attacks, to arrest and harass feminist protesters, to get an order to fire all your black police officers from the very…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The graphics style of the game is unique. The music in the game is great, jazz, classical and blues. The game is a bit addictive, just need to play another day, just need to play another round, and as a result hours pass.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hate group is on the rise. City Hall does not want the people to disrespect the police. Ask you to fire all black personnel. Rich Chinese is coming to town. City Hall wants to do business with him. Ask you to have at least 3 asian police officers working at the time he visits. Feminist movement does a peace march for women's rights. City Hall ask you to go with the full personnel and SWAT team to suppress it while a massive fire and terrorist attack break out at the same time. 10/10 most…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Screw this game. You absolutely MUST be crooked, or someone will kill you. If mafia doesn't like you - even if you let their crimes go unpunished and don't investigate the family with detectives - they'll just whack you one day. If the city doesn't like you - even if you indulge rich and powerful and send officers to help keep peace during their drunken, drug-infused orgies - they'll kill the funding for your police officers and you're as good as done with no way to help the city If you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Repetitive. That's unfortunately the essence of this game. It's way too long for its own good. I'm 14 hours in and only just reached day 100. The gameplay gets tedious real fast too. It would seem that your officers' professionalism matters more for success and survivability than the choices you make during calls. You get a lot of ordinary calls for crimes and public disturbances, and some could turn out to be fallacies by the caller mistaking situations, but too many of them pushed scenarios…

unlabelledView post →The game constantly punishes you for decisions you don't know the consequences of. If you do that a few times it can be fun for replayability but if you turn it into the central gameplay mechanic it's just not fun
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Usually, the prerequisite of playing a hero is that you heave through waves of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hurled at you before you get the good stuff. You blast through 'em, get hit, fall down, pull yourself back up, pin the bad guy to the wall, give 'em their comeuppance, save the day, and receive a well-deserved pat on the back before you move on to another castle. The nasal drawl you're fed in the game's opening tosses that sunshine logic out the window. Here, you're not some plumber out to save the…

I like everything in this game, especially soundtracks. Also its a lot better then second one.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game for a friend because it was cheap, but when I saw him play it, I knew I had to get it for myself. This is the Police is an extremely immersive dispatch simulator with a full story interspersed with the mundane day to day goings on of a police department. Calls come in, you dispatch officers to jobs, arrest the perpetrator and wait for the day to be over. The game is SO immersive because it really makes you feel like the 60-something disgruntled police chief you play as. Not…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun base gameplay with a BAD story shoe horned in. The terrible story literally ruins the game. Even if you can grit your teeth through the bad story and writing the gameplay is overtaken by it later down the line and it basically strips you of player choice. This game would've been a classic if it was pure management. Don't buy this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great atmosphere and story. But the gameplay is very repetitive.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is a Telltale game. But it is also This is the Police as well.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i actually quite like the sort of game dispatch is. narrative management games that arent farm sims? thank you please. i really need to replay This Is The Police
unlabelledView post →A great concept, completely let down by the story and writing. The gameplay is excellent, if repetitive. The game could have been 1/3 shorter, but the core gameplay loop is novel, the idea is solid. You're managing a police precinct with limited resources, juggling conflicting demands along with your conscience. The story and writing both start off excellent, very human. The protagonist is flawed, but in a believable way. A plausible police chief in a plausible situation, tangled in a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →at the beggining its a pretty ok game, but it becomes really repetitive to the point i am dragging myself to get to the end of the story, sending officers over and over again and at one point i just started looking up the answer to the detective cases online.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A really interesting and well-written narrative game crossed with a resource-management strategy game. You are a fading policeman teetering on the edge of forced retirement with only 6 months as chief of police to enact your aims and steer the city's fate whichever way you want. The art style works, the voice acting is almost universally fantastic, and I found myself looking forward to whatever new story event or cutscene the game would throw my way - although these were sometimes buried…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When I started working at Weappy I've been told that for some reason a lot of people wanted This is The Police style game, but about Gotham Police from Batman. So last year I decided to explore this idea

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had fun with the game; it was painful on more than one occasion, but in the end, it was mostly enjoyable, and the story was interesting. 7/10 - sorry Jack
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A good game with a great soundtrack. However, it is too long by nearly half. As typical for strategy games, it introduces you to new mechanics, gradually increasing difficulty. But by the 2nd or 3rd hour you've seen everything the game has and the only reason to keep playing is the story. The story itself is good with strong voice acting; but this is a game where they needed to trim the fat.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love the concept of the game, the art style and voice acting. Gameplay becomes a tad too tedious later on, and I think the outcome of the calls you choose to handle becomes too random for my liking. I once sent my best officers out with the swat to handle a shootout. Three of them died. I reloaded and sent out the same people when the event replayed, and this time no one died. Hmm...not a fan of this type of randomness. I'll give it a soft recommendation, get it when it's on a sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →review on a game literally called "This is the Police" 🤦🏽♀️
unlabelledView post →13 already, I regret everything LMAO 1. seeing as there's 1312 unplayed games (admittedly some are things like multiplayer mode for a game and not a whole ass game) I figured I should pick something pig related to start with, so here's This is the Police.
unlabelledView post →Challenging emergency management video game. The usual stuff, you’re in charge of a police team and have to deploy them across various incidents and investigations but with the caveat that you are caught up in the city’s power struggles. The game doesn’t pull any punches and it’s relatively easy to fail but it’s entertaining to juggle the different factions whilst still trying to do your job. Disclaimer: unlike other similar games, the story takes the spotlight and there are no good guys here,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this is actually a really fun game if you enjoy reading. if not then move along. no idea how to do the investigations, honestly that's really the only part i struggled on. if you enjoy management games you'll probably enjoy this one too. story was good until the middle where i felt like the main character became an a$$ and it made it really hard to root for him. overall id say its worth a playthrough, probably not at full price though. for reference i got my copy for less than 10$ on sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want to like this game, I really do. I'd say giving it 3 playthrough attemps and at 17hrs i have given the game a chance, but the game doesn't give you one. Every time I get shut down for some arbitrary reason, I'm paying a snitch, paying to get my traitors killed yet the snitch never snitches and the traitors never shot up for work the day they should be killed. The whole game is rigged against you which wouldnt be a problem, if the game wouldnt force you to play from scratch every time.…

unlabelledView post →I did not like this game at all. The game is tagged as Strategy, but it's really a... visual novel with a little bit of management simulator. Very boring, played 1 hour and that was enough.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This Is the Police is a gripping and gritty strategy-adventure game that plunges players into the morally ambiguous world of law enforcement, blending management simulation with narrative-driven choices. Developed by Weappy Studio, the game offers a compelling mix of resource management, crime investigation, and tough decision-making, all wrapped in a noir-inspired atmosphere. It’s a game that challenges players not just to solve crimes but to navigate the complex and often corrupt systems…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There's just so much I love about this game: The story, the style, the "Another World"-like pixel-texture animations, the narrative, voice acting, sleek UI and how it integrates the environment, the music, moral dilemmas. The repeatability. The gameplay itself is not awesome: effect modifiers are hidden, and sometimes you can only wonder what causes officer death, failure to catch a criminal or graduate at qualification. A top-notch detective and two best cops, backed by SWAT team can…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"This Is the Police" offers a technically competent simulation of moral decay where the real monster isn't the criminals or corrupt officials, but the system that makes corruption feel like rational self-preservation. The game succeeds precisely where it should disturb—by making you complicit in your character's compromise while feeling you had no choice. Its greatest achievement and failure are identical: turning ethical collapse into entertainment.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really boring "game". It's barely a game. Mostly you are watching cutscenes, which are really boring.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cannot understand the positive reviews. This is slow and redundant and just boring. It's a format that is repeated over and over again. A complete loss of over $20 CAD.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game, repetitive and starts out pretty hard.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This isn't fun. I'm not sure what the idea is, but the game is basically controlled failure with the most contrived and ridiculous story you can imagine.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This Is the Police walked so Dispatch could run. Jokes aside, Dispatch worked mostly because of it's beautiful comic book art and vibe, VA and story but the gameplay of This Is the Police is actually more solid imo. Greater depth and overall more of it. A fairly decent police management sim with some moral conundrums. Worth playing if you like these sorta games.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to like this game but the last 30 days are a pain in the ass, after that its repetitive, I feel like the missions are just made to annoy you and not care anymore about any mission you take, the most problematic part is that I have to send all my best investigators for a small gang leader and wait like 10 days for one remaining clue, half of them died, but when I have The Sanders Gang it took me 20 days and none of my detectives died (This should be the biggest gang in the city) The…

It's not that good: - Too much RNG, you will suddently have 5 cops dying, for no reasons (you got the best of the best, on a simple case, make the good choice, but still sometime RNG f*** you) - No way to efficiently replace your dead cops. Once again, rng: Sometime a good coop with a score >600 will appear for recruitement. But 99% of the time you got a cop with a score of 100, who will never be able to get to the same level as the others one (especially…
