This is not This is the Police. It's fiddlier, slower, and more frustrating. The introduction is so long and boring that I genuinely thought it wouldn't progress until I skipped it - just a load of cops talking about the new TV they're planning on installing. You can't skip in small steps, just massive chunks, so when I started the game I had no idea what was actually happening, where people had gone, or what my context was. The gameplay has no real improvements over TITP1. Kitting your…

I had a lot of fun with this game! I do not recommend it. This is the Police 1 was a fun simulator/ management type game starring Jack Boyd, a not so clean police chief trying to do his best to run his department and gain $500,000 before his forced retirement. This included managing the politics surrounding his position (keeping crime families happy, keeping the mayors office happy, doing favours for the public to get bribes, keeping the uniforms happy, etc. etc.). This was on top of managing…

Did you enjoy the character writing of the first game? The dialogue and story which was written and performed well enough to weep? Yeah, that's gone. Were you playing the first game and going, "Man, I'm enjoying this gameplay, but it'd really be better with 90 minute turn based combat missions"? No? Me neither. Yet here it is. In an ideal world, sequels aren't meant to be soulless remakes with no real changes, but they're also not meant to be soulless genre-changes that add so little and take…

I really wanna beat this game, but I can't. The turn based mini game is annoying and I don't want to do it. They have Rebel Cops for that. I love the original gameplay of just sending out cops to calls and responding to them with choices. Why change up what was already good?

Too many mechanics that don’t really work together. Tactical missions are slow and clunky, story feels forced, and сaps, shops and missions all feel disconnected, like they don’t really tie into each other or form a clear system. Kinda weak, too many ideas and not enough polish

This game makes me really sad because the gameplay is really fun and even more interactive than the first game... however, that's only when the game isn't bombarding with tasks in the minute to minute gameplay. And the game seems much more punishing than the first game. Cops are extremely lazy, show up to work drunk, or don't even show up to work at all. Leaving you understaffed for the day, or worse yet their dumba**es crash while driving and literally perish then and there from the car crash.…

This Is the Police 2 builds upon the foundations of its predecessor with a darker, more complex narrative and a deeper blend of strategy, resource management, and tactical combat. Developed by Weappy Studio, the game continues to explore the murky ethics of law enforcement in a corrupt world, this time placing players in the snowy, isolated town of Sharpwood. It’s a compelling sequel that ambitiously expands on nearly every aspect of the original, trading in familiar mechanics while injecting…

Lame compared to the first one. I don't want any turn based combat, I don't want endless super slow running story stuff. Give me story but not like this. I wanted an intriguing management game where actions have consequences. Shame on me for buying this all those years ago.

Once again they managed to make an interesting game and ruin it with a stuffy mechanic where you can't save normally. Replaying the whole day over again because of some random event is definitely a lot of fun (no)

This is a masterpiece. Despite leaving a negative review for the first game because of how much of a drag the gameplay was, I am glad I gave this one a shot. The gameplay doesn't consist of sitting around and waiting anymore, the entire thing is more concise and diverse at the same time, which made for a very pleasant journey. The storytelling remains as good as it was in the previous installement, and continues the story of Jack Boyd.

I loved the first one and this one is even better in some areas. Sadly, the XCOM tactical part of the game is unbearably slow and unfun. Maybe one day they'll remake the game and fix it. Dispatch got a lot of this game's good ideas and people love it. It's sad because This Is The Police has a more interesting premise and story.

Could not be compared to This is the police. The plot becomes horrible at some point and there is a tactical mission that made me basically just fully follow someone playing a playthrough to complete, because its too hard and too specific. I thought I would love this game, and there are things that I love about it, but boy the negatives are huge. Spoilers: the game literally just kills off some characters for no reason. I dont know, I expected better.

This isn't a cop management sim, its a noir visual novel with some gameplay elements. Buyer beware that the cutscenes will get you almost to two hours before the game even really lets you play. I skipped most of the cutscenes after an hour because I still didn't really get to play. My opinion on the gameplay is nonexistant because I came two close to the refund window to actually learn how to play due to all the cutscenes.

Game #50 of My Backlog Clearing Journey Status: Completed Aside from the management system and a new game mode that mixes SRPG with strategy, everything in this game is worse than its predecessor. The narrative is absurdly disjointed, the characters are bad, and the dialogues are poorly written.

After thoroughly enjoying the first game in the series, this sequel feels like an absolute chore to play through. Mechanics aren't well explained and generally inconsistent, the writing is very dry and lacking, the narrative pacing and cutscenes (which forces an automatic pause if the game isn't the focused window) move at a glacial pace. Over 20 hours into the game and I'm still waiting for anything interesting to actually happen story-wise, and anything to grab my attention the same way that…

This is the Police 2 to me is both fun and annoying to experience. Lets start with the fun part, the core gameplay loop of managing your officers and dispatching them to calls. As a management sim, it was engaging as juggling your officers and servicing the increasingly demanding calls while having to scrap by $20,000 every week was great. The game also boast a great soundtrack and art style that makes up for its small budget cut scenes. Now, lets move on to the annoying part of this game.…

Fun core gameplay loop when you're managing the station and sending officers out to respond to calls. It's not terribly complicated but a nice challenge to balance equipping and developing the officers, and using your skills and tools on scene to manage through each call. Unfortunately it's bogged down with long talky cutscenes that aren't especially well-written or well-acted, and that you have no control over. Even if you skip the cutscenes, eventually your game gets derailed by "tactical"…

Then you might make it through the laboriously slow opening to this game. I don't know if the studio is a actor/voice over studio or a game studio, either way the acting/narration/novella IS what you're going to sit through. I played This is the Police a few years ago and was excited to see there was a sequel. The cutscenes are awful: they take forever, the characters speak extremely slowly, and the dialogue could be written by a tween on ffnet: "I, uh... you know... well I was... maybe uh... a cop too once... you understand? I mean - well - it's uh... more complicated uh... than you think... do you uh, well... do you understand?" Can you fast forward the dialogue? Sure. It skips the entire 3-5 minute scene and…

Significantly worst than the first one. The turn based missions are a good idea but poorly executed. Lots of waiting e.g. while the enemy turn is them bleeding out... It would benefit hugely from the ability to save the game to prevent you losing half an hour's progress every time you need to stop playing. Still has some charm but most of the game felt like waiting.

This is the Police 2 is bloated with arduous & verbose cutscenes that say & progress very little in the story of Jack’s corruption. You'll more than likely spend more time in cutscenes and text boxes than engaging with actual gameplay; gameplay of which is unchanging across the 20 hours of expected playtime. (LIMITED STORY SPOILERS) I normally don't judge games/films by how dark and bleak their stories are, because some of the most excellent stories are particularly dark or grim. However I have to for This is the Police 2, because I just couldn't be bothered to finish it because the story is so insanely nihilistic and depressing. I mean. It's a great and faithful descendant of the previous game but they've chopped down on the length of the story and inserted cutscenes that seem to have the length of a prime Kojima game and the setting of an extremely casual conversation. So maybe stay away from this sequel. Still, an enjoyable story that carries on the adventures of Duke Nukem that you absolutely have to buy on sale if you're willing to go out on a punt!

Too long and slow, and meaningless cutscenes.
