60 of 177 · most liked firstGreat artwork, terrible gameplay. To the extent of actually being a fascinating case study in awful game design. One of the first missions has a giant map, takes several hours to complete, has an absurd amount of secondary objectives (not in a fun way; more is less here and the level is exhausting), has failure conditions if alarms are raised, and at various points drops enemies onto the map at prescripted places you can't know in advance and immediately lets them take actions and kill your…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game is just plain awful. the artwork is nice, but that is the only thing good about the game. the gameplay is functional, but basic and boring. it's very much x-com light with similar combat but no base management or classes. however, it is an absolutely boring RNG fest. you will routinely die from a random character in a window miles away leading you to save scum just to pass missions. added to this is some of the worst level design i've ever seen. the 3rd mission is particularly bad-…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rebel Cops is a surface-level Turn-based game that has an interesting premise and initially i was actually going to platinum the game as i really enjoyed the first this is the police. 26 hours later after beating the game on normal and i safely state that i revoke my prior goal. Let me start off with the Pros: + Has a really neat artstyle and i vibe well with the shaded-look. + Playing a top-down police RTS is something interesting and the concept is cool. + Most of the sounds are awesome…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is very accurate detailed and with excellent graphic but, instead of being relaxing and pleasant after a very short time the frustration curve goes to the maximum. -You have very little money that does not allow you to buy enough weapons or ammunition -In the mission briefs is not mentioned the number of enemies even hypothetical so you bring 2 magazines of 6 ammunition and then you realize that you have to shoot more than 100 enemies that come out from everywhere. -The enemies are…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed This Is The Police 1 and 2, and XCOM, but I can't recommend this game. The tactical gameplay has a lot of potential, but it is far too sluggish and punishing. A single mistake can set you back massively, and because you have to watch every animation and listen to every voice line every time you load an earlier save it quickly becomes very tedious.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game lacks internal integrity Unfortunately, downsides of the game overweight all good things it has. It might look good at first glance, but the more you play - the more you realise. Game is trying to implement XCOM style TBT, but does it a wrong way. At the core here are classic mechanics: - Turn based movement with covers - Unit progression and death possibility - Picking same units consequently has penalties But that base was heavily modified by two factors: - There are loot on the map…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a good blend between wanting to spend save points and thinking you're going to be fine, until sh*t hits the fan and suddenly you reload to 20 minutes ago. Infuriating! And very enjoyable!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rebel Cops is a perfect example of a "great idea, terrible execution" game. I would love to like it more, but it makes it very hard. The gameplay, both mechanically and interactionally, becomes repetitive and uninteresting. The plot is the most hamfisted "what if good cops had to be bad" movie plot you can think of. And, most importantly, the game is unfortunately neither hard nor engaging. I'm aware there are many reviews complaining that the game's third mission is overly hard and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Having never played This Is The Police 1 or 2, I will focus on the turn-based tactics perspective of the game. The common TBT game elements: 2 action points per character, which can be used for movement or action. Picking up items does not cost action points. A cover system: full cover, half cover, and no cover. The cover system affects the hit chance when using firearms. Distance to an enemy affects the hit accuracy. Inventory management: You can buy various items from the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really don t know how to explain how much this game means to me. This is a type of game that you will never forget and I really hope that the developers don t stop making this kind of games. I also hope that someone from their team is reading this because I still believe that there is a possibility that they will create another game for this franchise or another spin-off like Rebel Cops.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting to note that like 80% negative reviews come from people who didnt finish main story (Less than 20 hours of playtime)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a lot of fun! ...BUT. That's this game in a nutshell. It's one of those games that makes me wish Steam had a more nuanced rating system than it does. The core gameplay is really gripping and there were some moments where I was so immersed that I was about ready to call this one of my new favorite turn-based strategy games. That said, it has some serious issues that hold it back from true greatness. Rebel Cops is a sequel/spin-off to Weappy's This Is The Police franchise, specifically…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Man if only the police were as cool as these guys
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Other reviews make comparisons to XCOM in their assessment of Rebel Cops, which just goes to show how bereft of quality reviews Steam is. Rebel Cops is nothing like XCOM. Like, at all. It's like saying Final Fantasy Tactics is like XCOM because the characters have two actions per turn and move on a grid-based playing field. Or, better yet, it's like saying Goldeneye is the same as Destiny because both are first-person shooters with multiplayer, irrespective of their completely different focuses…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very fun game! although i wish there was more of a story like this is the police 1 and 2
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rebel Cops is a great albeit rather difficult turn-based combat police sim. You play as good cops trying to stop a crime lord and all of his goons and corrupt cops that he has on his pay roll. Timeline-wise, this games takes place after This is The Police 1 and 2, and you will see a certain character from those games make an unmissable appearance, and definitely leave his mark. The story is good. The gameplay is difficult by design, and you really have to lock the hell in to take out the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very different from previous games, This is the Police 1 and 2, where this is pure turn based with no management aspect. I found it a lot of fun, however there is one very early mission that was pure hell and I was tempted to give up. But if you can push through the worst mission it really is worth finishing it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just play XCOM instead. I really wanted to like this game, as Im a fan of both "This is the Police" games, and enjoyed the missions in the 2nd one, but my god this just aint it. Some of the maps are ridiculously big, which would be fine, if it didnt slow gameplay down to a minimum, because youre only actual choice is stealth. Do anything else on anything but the easiest level and youre already done. Nothing but the pistol can be equipped with a silencer either, but good luck getting enough…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For a turn base it is average at best, only play it if you have no other turn base tactics to play. - bad music - no way to manage vision - you never know when they enemy will see you and when they won't, how far they will move, from where you can shoot them -> stealth game play is not fun
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was a fun game until mission 3 whereby your cops sneak through the enemy estate. All of a sudden a car shows up with 2 individuals that have some issues with the gang that you are dealing with, Now as much as this is actually a fun twist the mechanics of this assault are totally messed up to the level at which I turned off the game and never played it again. The lads rock in blasting shotguns and riffles but since the mission is in a stealth mode the guards let themselves get slaughtered by…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was gifted this game and left it on the unplayed shelf for when I was burnt out on all the others that I play. It has been three days since I downloaded it and I am at 27.7 hours on record. I am at a loss for words on how well together the game is. I would love to see a sizable UI slider and extreme ultrawide support.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't know, man.. you have to be a different kind of animal to really enjoy this. I like the game, I like these missions, liked them in This is the Police as well. But it's relentless. One mistake and you're ♥♥♥♥♥♥. You can have unlimited savegames and save scum, but still it's weird that EVERY criminal on the attire map knows where I am, as soon as one guy sees me. And then it starts. Shooting from every angle. Your guys get ERASED from the world in 1-2 rounds. I'm still in the first…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun XCOM-like strategy game while simultaneously incredibly frustrating. Yet another game that makes me wish Steam had a 'mixed' rating.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very meh at best. Vision is a constant issue plaguing this game. It's not easy to tell where exactly your characters are positioned and whether or not they are in the enemies line of fire. Even for a turn-based game, the pacing is wayyyyyyyy to slow and as a result gets boring very quickly.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fire soundtracks, that's all I'm saying. There are some levels (at least 3 iirc) that are a major pain in the ass tho; these take like hours to complete each. Also turn on unlimited saves unless you really hate yourself.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TL;DR: A functional stealth-tactics game with some weird design choices that detract from the experience. Rebel Cops is a simple stealth tactics game with an emphasis on game. Turn based stealth tactics games are never meant to emulate reality in any meaningful way, but this game has some mechanics that hard counter my suspension of disbelief. Everybody is blind. Enemies have basically no peripheral vision(as an apology for there being no view cones in the game - you know, realism). Enemies…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →2nd mission felt like the final mission more than the final mission itself.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i rather eat a bag of rotten worms then play this garbage negatives -its repatative -its boring from the very start -game mechanics are weird (you can be shot even if your behind full cover) the game kinda decides when you can or cant be shot randomly its basically russian roulette -was enough for me to drop this game in mid of 3rd mission possitive -i found the only reason to stick around is because i found the story concept intresting.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really cool concept and gameplay, just wish the story was better.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →can confirm, first mission after tutorial on normal mode, unfun. devs whats goin on? unlimited accuracy for enemies... about 20 guys? all of which know exactly where my guys are on the map despite being "hidden when in cover" yea.... least i bought it on sale. i effectively shredded 2 bucks. Guess its no worse than inflation really.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I shelved this game long ago and recently decided to jump back in and give it a go. I got to work off some of the backlog. If you like the style of this game but want more management of the officers and to have more to do in the campaign, then I have two games that I would like to recommend that are better than this. This is the Police 1 and 2. It's the same developer, but way better games. The campaign is super short, and there are barely any side missions to do. The third mission is WAYYY out…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Too repetitive, not that original, graphics didn't get me. But besides all that, the story is so negative and pesimistic. I finished the game, but didn't enjoy it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really liked both This is the Police games and wanted to try this one. This game is only about tactial mission and I had only 1 problem - normal mode is difficult af and easy mode is easy af. If mission were same as in This is the Police 2 it would have been better, since this one is almost impossible to complete and I've messed up millions of times and spend hours and hours on first mission until I started anew on easier mode. Still recommend. currently waiting new game from weappy studio)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Look, its a great gameplay concept, I love turn based stealth ideas. especially stuff where you can have soldier synergy. but the game is nothing short of unfairly punishing. miss click? hope no one sees you! or you go back god knows how many turns! And i get that RNG is an important roll for these types of games. but its an absolute pain in the ass that you can have a high chance to make someone surrender. but they might just look at you, and yell for everyone in a 3 block radius. if you have…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly a lot better than i expected it to be, it seems very simple with the tutorial but the maps and tactics expand a lot. Wrong decisions can backfire immediately and smart planning can get you far.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You have to get to the end of the first mission to discover you can't arrest someone you shot without healing them... If you shoot the first mission's boss (to injure) the game soft blocks you and you have to lose after 3-6 turns when the boss dies.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Does not work on newer Silicon Macs and is pretty much abandoned. Avoid if you're a Mac user.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The tutorial mission isn't good enough. Then you get into the first mission. You have no idea when to save, so you hold up on saving (you can turn on infinite saves, but that only serves to perpetuate the anguish and misery). Then suddenly a guard spots you - and your cops get instantkilled through the windows from guys not even connected to the guards in the main complex via telepathy? Then you restart the mission. This time you save. It's going better. You're sneakier. You get the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →American Xcom simulator Highly recommend
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →YOU'RE UNDER ARREST, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun turn based stealth or not so stealth game. Has a variety of difficulty settings for everyone and achievements to match them.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's hard and a bit annoying when you're trying to select an action and the game has your character move.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There's a difference between being hard and being tedious. The game's mechanics are extremely annoying with no information on what might happen. On one mission a group of guys roll up in a vehicle start shooting up the place. Ontop of that there's limited saves, and the levels are just so damn big.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →8/10 Really good XCOM-style game where you play as exiled police.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Worst crap i played. Even crapier ending. Crap story, crap gameplay, crap visuals, crap ending, crap all around! Crap out of 10 DEVELOPER: Weappy Studio you are dead to me. if you value your money, do not buy this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i am the law son
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →how the hell can enemy shoot me behind cover? stupid controls and no logic of AI actions
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't buy this game. There's are so many better turn based/squad tactic games out there, like X-Com and others. It's way too slow, and whenever you try to speed things up, you end up moving a character incorrectly with no undo button. It's cheap so that's great about it but I'd still like a refund.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I absolutely love this genre of video game and have for 30 years or more at this point. I don't remember the last time I left a negative review of a game, but this one is so poorly designed and badly implemented that I have to do it this time. I'm delighted with games that call themselves "difficult" and am happy to play games with simplistic graphics, and odd littles quirks... heck even a few bugs are ok if the rest of the game is good enough. Sadly this game is nothing but negatives and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is broken on Mac OS.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honesty this is an awesome game. Every day after school heading back home, eagerly I will always get on my Xbox and play this game. Like sometimes this is the only game I would play weeks on end without being bored. This was a tuff game but honesty a very fun one really got me thinking even during Covid. I bought this game on Steam again just to relive the memories one more time. Thank you for making this game, and thank you for making my childhood memories
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game if you like turn based combat. Doesnt have as much story in it, but the gameplay is much better than in This is the police 2 (v for speeding time, unlimited saves). Each mission is really something different, but the Estate mission is a bit much at the beginning. Combat and stealth are both very nicely inplemented, but some missions look like they can be silent but change mid mission, so if you dont have decked out cops it might be hard. The loot collection is kinda wierd.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →should be best game of the year at this point i love this game its the best would 100 percent recomend
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like strategy games like Xcom this is just the game for you, all the ways you can deal with one mission makes you really think of the ways you can tackle one problem due to the tools you have, the skills you have and how long you are willing to take to do it. Overall it is a great game, the only thing I didn't like was that the farm mission which is massive is dropped onto you so early when your team is really ready to deal with it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you are a fan of this gameplay style, the art style, and perhaps the story threads from the previous games from this developer, this is worth checking out. I wish this had more of the previous titles management of the police station gameplay elements as those really made it interesting and you had to make sure things were balanced out a lot. I know this is a different story with ties to the previous titles, but doing the constant repeat game elements gets a little stale after a while. i…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a nice short game but tough, but having played both This is the Police and This is the Police II it was fun to try a different playstyle. They don't joke around when they say you have limited resources. Inventory management was also fun and frustrating. There's a lot of things that you can't go back on which they don't really tell you, so I guess that is my only complaint.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's simpler than Firaxis' XCOM games, but still fun nonetheless. In short, you go into missions with a group of up to 6 cops from a rebel militia striking against a crime family. You start out broke and amass funds by helping the local populace with favors. And you have the option to kill everyone on sight, with guns or knives, or to arrest them, taking them alive. There's a taser gun on a cooldown and a baton for taking suspects alive. For killing, it offers you knives, revolvers and…
