unlabelledView post →Intro of The Witcher 2 done and about to start chapter 1. My first impressions of this game are very good. Peak intro, Improved combat and story telling has gone up a notch. Game is beautiful ofcourse! Witcher 3 may have to run for its money on this one, It may.
unlabelledView post →This game might have some of the worst combat ever made in an RPG, and it's such an obtrusive part of the experience that I'd be lying to you if I said I recommend it. Even the weird-ass combat system in the first Witcher game is more enjoyable once you get used to it than the Frankensteined mess we got for this game. That being said, the writing and presentation in The Witcher 2 are absolutely incredible, so if you think you have what it takes to stomach some of the most painful combat ever,…

Killing Draug first time took me 46 attempts, I was losing my mind. Found few bugs, including memory leak, was so proud of myself! 😌

unlabelledView post →ARE STORY AND STORY-TELLING GOOD? The story is as messy as Witcher 1, if not even messier. The game starts with we seeing Geralt in prison, cuffed, and getting tortured by some fat f*ck prison guards, then we learn he is suspected for King Foltest's assasination, while Vernon Roche is interrogeting him, after he tell things happened to him Geralt wants to go after Kingslayer Letho to clean his name, and together with Roche they sail to Flotsam, there we meet with Elven leader Iorveth guarding…

Developed by CD Projekt Red, it refines everything from its predecessor and delivers a darker, more mature experience. Instead of a simple good vs evil story, the game places you in a morally complex world where every decision has weight—and consequences are rarely clear. 🌍 Story & Narrative You play as Geralt of Rivia, a professional…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Started in 2018, finished in 2026. I put the game on hold for quite a while, but I finally finished it. What a great story. I expected nothing less from the Witcher series. I'll never forget the music, the characters, or the story. This game is simply unforgettable.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hard to rate this one. I ONLY recommend it for the story. The gameplay sucks and it's short, put it on easy and enjoy the story, nothing else. If I could give this game a Neutral rating, not good or bad, I would. I assumed that compared to The Witcher 3 it wouldn't be that great of a game and I was much more correct than I thought! I'll go through the pros and cons rather quickly. Pros: The game looks very nice! It's obviously a bit older than 3 but, it looks fine. It's also a very simple…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I tried to like it, but I felt like I was constantly fighting the games controls and mechanics.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I started The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition expecting a bridge between games. It felt like a blade instead. This isn’t a comfortable sequel. It’s sharper. More political. Less forgiving. Geralt is no longer wandering. He’s entangled. Kings fall. Alliances fracture. And you’re never fully certain who benefits from your decisions. Combat demands respect. Preparation isn’t optional. Potions before battle. Traps placed carefully. Mistakes punished immediately. It’s tighter…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The world isn’t black and white. People are often worse than monsters, but sometimes… they’re worth believing in. Roads are long, taverns loud, and choices will haunt you. But in the end… it’s worth it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Many games are like playing a movie, but The Witcher 2 is like playing a novel. It's visually and mechanically dated but definitely worth playing for fans of the series. Smaller in scale than The Witcher 3, but that allows the writers to better integrate the side quests into the main quest, crafting a robust story. The divergent story paths after Act One make for a very rewarding narrative experience overall and give the game huge replay value. Graphics are PS3-era but at PS4 resolution, making…

unlabelledView post →The Witcher 2 is a good follow-up to the first game and builds directly on its story. Therefore, I would recommend playing or at least familiarizing yourself with The Witcher 1’s story before playing this game. At the beginning of the game, there is a lot going on story-wise that could be difficult to follow if you are unfamiliar with the first game. Your choices from the first game can be imported and will slightly change some situations and dialogue. The prologue in this game is very slow…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As an RPG devotee spellbound by Skyrim's sprawl and Fallout's grit, The Witcher 2 is my narrative nirvana—a choice-driven epic where every fork in the Pontar forks your soul. Geralt's witcher saga pulses with unyielding freedom: Seduce spies or slaughter them? Ally with elves or elveslayers? Temeria's intrigue webs tighter than any Elder Scroll, with branching quests that replay like a choose-your-own-apocalypse. World-building? A Slavic fever dream—fog-shrouded swamps hide horrors, while…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →On top of The Witcher 2 and cleaning up trophies in Halo, I’ve started Tainted Grail: Fall of Avalon. I’m actually blown away! This game is a ton of fun and is basically a darker/moodier Elder Scrolls. About 5 hours in at level 11. Skills level the same as TES but there’s no level cap!

The Witcher 2 showed me that a fantasy game could tell a serious story and immerse us in a cinematic masterpiece.
unlabelledView post →Hello Steamusers. In my opinion, this is the BEST Witcher game out there. Witcher 1, feels Clunky in 2026, Witcher 2 feels out of date yes, Witcher 3 feels more refined. BUT... The Witcher 2, when you get used to the combat system, is by far the best of all the Witcher games. The Story and Questtelling are sublime. I even went for a 100% completion because of this. (guess i am a mad men). It is a must buy and must play if you love the Witcher lore. 10 out of 10. Take the time to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings: The Awkward Middle Child Regret: 26% (Geralt fighting in glue for the first 5 hours) Before Witcher 3 was a masterpiece, Witcher 2 was a very good game that nobody remembers. The story is strong and has real consequences, and the second act can look completely different depending on your choices. The combat, on the other hand, felt like Geralt was fighting in a swimming pool of glue, at least during the first hours. It's worth playing, if only to see where…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Still holds up, I liked the experience even better than the first game. The story is fantastic and kept me hooked from start to finish. Of course, choices matter here too and because of mine, I will definitely be playing it again soon :) There is everything you can expect from a true Witcher game - political intrigue, betrayal, and difficult choices where there isn't always a clear right answer. The writing remains one of the game's strongest aspects, something expected from CDPR. The…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Political Masterpiece If the first game was a moody indie experiment, The Witcher 2 was the loud, confident statement that put CDPR on the map. Even today, it remains one of the most visually striking and narratively dense games ever made. The Ultimate Branching Path: This game contains perhaps the boldest narrative choice in gaming history. At the end of Act 1, your decision completely changes Act 2—giving you two entirely different maps, quests, and perspectives. It is a game designed to…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Too many bugs and can't believe that they haven't solved for years!! without the community I couldn't even launch the game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Witcher 2 finished. I think I preferred the first game overall, it was certainly longer and more complex. The Witcher 2 leans a lot more into being an action game. But I still really enjoyed it. Might have a break from Geralt and play something else, but Witcher 3 is already downloading.
unlabelledView post →Chapter 1 of The Witcher 2 complete. Overall a great but difficult chapter to complete. I find the difficulty balancing of this game a bit off but with some perseverance it'll be no problem. A tight but amazing experience so far and i'm liking where the story is going.
unlabelledView post →the story is good but..... the combat is just sooo baddd, whoever design this combat system should never ever develop the game especially in COMBAT !!!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A buggy mess prone to frequent crashing and bugged out quest phases, even with the help of community patches... The combat is clunky and difficult to wrangle, especially at higher difficulty levels. And for some reason, the level cap is a measly 35, meaning you can only experience ONE of the three skill tress per playthrough. The singular light at the end of this very dark tunnel, is that you can transfer your save data to Witcher 3. What a mess of a game...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story is really good and the characters. Someone enjoy this fighting system much more then the last games but from my side it got worst. Anyway it's a great game if you love this universe.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →WOWEE.. man did i enjoy this game, i finished this game with such great feelings. Coming from the ANCIENT Witcher 1, Witcher 2 felt like a complete breath of fresh air, literally 90% of the game is an improvement, the combat is awesome, the story is awesome, the villains are awesome, and the characters are awesome. If i had to improve a few things, one would be the length of the game. My full playthough was about 20ish hours, there is alternate paths so if you want the full experience its…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has a better story than Witcher 3 main game. The game world was one of the most immersive I have been in, especially Flotsam forest. There is a lot of exploring and side quests but it's not a big open world like Witcher 3. I really liked the combat and boss fights but they might not be for everyone. I recommend playing hard mode for Dark Souls players. I just wish it didn't crash so much :P Having too many save files seems to cause that so deleting older ones helps with that a bit.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An excellent RPG with a great combat and fantastic world and story. I played it in 2025 for the first time and I find it better than many modern RPGs.

unlabelledView post →If this review never gets an edit then the game didn't get any better. People will tell you to skip Witcher 1, watch a plot summary of that, and play this before Witcher 3 on account of the gameplay. I'd give the opposite advice. This is the absolute pinnacle of middling-to-bad early 2010s action RPGs, down to the muddy lack of clarity both in game and in menu, floaty movement and combat, and terrible gimmick bossfights. The alchemy and buildcrafting isn't even good. Witcher 1 hacked…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A HUGE improvement over Witcher 1. One of the better story driven games I've played to this day and it was made 15+ years ago. Combat/visuals/story all stand up to most of todays games. Especially the story. Pros: Top tier story writing. Up there with Mass Effect / Baldur's Gate for having genuinely believable characters. Keeps you almost thinking at night about what might happen next. Your decisions play a role in what happens and there are some tough choices they give you. Geralt is slowly…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Witcher 2 is an amazing game for something released back in 2011. In many ways it feels more thoughtfully designed than the next entry in the series The gameplay here is genuinely good, sure there are bad aspects, like being able to drink potions only during meditation, meaning you cannot heal/use heal potion mid fight but it never bothered me, health regeneration outside combat is pretty fast. In hindsight the system actually encourages preparation before battles, which fits the fantasy…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In my opinion the weakest of the trilogy but still worth playing. Interesting story, great visuals, the gameplay is terrible. The alchemy system is the worst out of the trilogy, and can be almost entirely ignored. The combat is some of the worst I have ever played, incredibly janky, controls poorly, inconsistent, and far more frustrating than fun or engaging. I do not believe this game was an upgrade from the original outside of presentation. The UI was clearly console focused, and the skill…

unlabelledView post →I loved the political intrigue in this one. It feels much more focused and "tight" compared to the massive open world of the third game. The combat is a bit clunky and takes getting used to, but the way your choices actually change which entire city you visit in the second act is brilliant. [The Breakdown] Graphics: Good; still looks very cinematic Gameplay: Solid but the combat can be frustrating Story: Masterpiece; the branching paths are real Difficulty: Hard to master Grind: None…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Replayed it in 2026 since last time i played it was about 13 years ago... Still great story and amazing characters. Technically outdated with lots of loading screens at every door/gate, bad ui, bad save system which tanks performance the more it autosaves. Badly needs remake for modern PCs with updated gfx and lighting.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the story is amazing, but the gameplay and quest tracking and map makes me want to slice that delicious looking artery on my arm.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want to preface by saying that I 100%'d the first game and have about 30 hours in the 3rd. Both are quite enjoyable in their own right, but this... this is truly the worst Witcher game in the series. Combat is abysmal. Enemies can hit you from 2 paces away and can dodge or block your attacks without penalty but, if you aren't up their ass you'll miss. The animations, everything from drinking potions to swinging/sheathing your sword, attacking are all sluggish or overly long. There are weird…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The thing is I don't think it's so much "locked out of content" as much that it's non-routed content. People were fine with The Witcher 2 having two routes you do each of once, it's when you have a "do anything, anytime" game that it starts to feel real weird.
