42 of 42 · most liked firstThis is a old style RPG, with graphics similar to SNES. The basic story is about a princess who has tobreak a curse she set on herself because she made an agreement with a demon to make the prince love her. (What a Stalker!) Positives: + It’s $4.99 + Graphics are nice, if you like the SNES style + A few randomly funny moments, there's a few side quests, no random enemy encounters, the combat is quick. Negatives: - Graphical issues: The screen flashes and skips often when walking. This is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an open-world RPGMaker-based game where the protagonist Aerin Goldheart signed a contract with the demon of desire Izdul Kalag to make her husband Tommy Wocrome love her with all his heart. Things didn't turn out well as planned and Aerin has to travel through the world with her companions and defeat 5 different demons, each representing a different dark part of the princess to be able to break out of her curse and clear her husband's possession. For an open-world RPG, the game is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had alot of fun beta testing this game for steam release, would be speedrunners have me to thank for adding 4 hours to their runs, no sequence breaks for you hehe XD To start off my review, my opionion of the game was pretty low starting out. The intro gave me the impression that the plot was going to be quite dark. Having a few innocent guards executed near the begining reinforced my suspicions. The gamplay which ill cover later, also bothered me at first and i was almost ready to send the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This story is not true. Those were the first words to greet me into this game after some rather awkward form of configuration. Just like how you don't hang out at alcoholics anonymous meetings for a laugh, don't come to this game expecting a documentary style affair. Don't come into this game expecting a lot, it saves a lot of disappointment in the long run. Well, as if that little statement didn't give away my opinion on this. I should elaborate. The Princess' Heart is a story written from…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good, but rather short JRPG. The music in this little gem is really great. One of the best soundtracks I've listened to in a while. The graphics are rather standard for an RPG Maker game, but some effects and a distinct set of tiles for each location creates a pleasant to look at game. The story isn't very deep, but it's well written and gives enough background. The gameplay isn't without flaws though. There's the odd auto leveling of prices for inns and items. I guess it's meant to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Note: I was one of the original betatesters for the original release, as well as one of testers for the Steam release. The Princess’ Heart is another RPG developed by Roseportal Games. It was their third commercial game, after successes like Whisper of a Rose and Sweet Lily Dreams (both available through Steam). It does not share the same universe as those games and looks and feels more like a traditional JRPG. The Princess’ Heart has a nice plot, if a bit short, however its characters make…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a game it's alright. Let's be real though, it's pretty much exactly the same experience as 90% of RPG maker games out there. Generic fantasy adventure thing with the same art assets, same shop, and the same combat system. Dungeons are long and often confuzing because the beginning of the dungeon and the end of the dungeon look exactly the same with little to no distinguishing features/ layouts. All that said, it's decently balanced, the character skill unlocks give you a moment to think,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just found myself wondering what exactly I am doing wasting my Christmas holidays playing this game. Holiday gaming is supposed to be fun, not frustrating or boring. I do feel bad giving a bad review because the creator seems absolutely lovely at the forums and is really kind in her (?) answers, never once snapping or becoming rude even at the face of criticism. Howerver, I cannot escape the fact that no matter how much I wanted to like this game it is both boring and frustrating. The main…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm liking the playing style as it reminds me of old RPG/Adventure games. Even the turn based battle system is having me sighing with nostalgia. My only complaint is the fact the female protag is trying to get her ex back because he's "the love of life". I've only played an hour though, so maybe that changes later (I'm hoping it changes later).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an... interesting game. The story appears to be a story with another. The princess has made a pact with a demon, but now needs to break it by hunting down demons across the world and killing them. But all of this is a tale written by a girl who is fighting her own demons in this way (through the story she is writing). Whether that is a glimpse into the actual author, or another layer of storytelling... tricky to tell. Still, it appears to be a good game. Give it a try.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is Half baked. Mechanically, the game runs well. You are given early on a number of different characters to build a party, and each characters skills can be selected as they level up. Being able to determine the party turn order, and swap party members out during combat gives the battle system some added level of tactical depth. The map design isn't bad, either. However, the story, and characters are awful. They feel paper thin, even worse than simple charactures of common…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great premise but poor execution. Among other things, I teach game design to middle school students, and I'd love to have a substantive RPG I could share with my female students. I thought this might be it - but it isn't. The problem isn't the premise, or the occasionally mature content. Rather, the problem is the execution. Far too often, the game contradicts itself. Far too often, the narrative breaks the fundamental rule of storytelling, telling you stuff instead of showing you stuff. And…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Note: I was provided with a key by the developer to beta-test the game before release. Audio: Didn't know what to expect in terms of audio. It was a pleasant surprise to hear the intro music and the music for each locale. Each of tracks to the locations represented each location's "feel" and theme very well. The music is very well made that it somehow stuck itself in head like bumping 90's track. Minor gripe: A certain enemy type that has a high pitched battle intro sound, that's all.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Princess' Heart is the latest installment by RosePortal Games. Personally this game is much more settled and improved than the previous titles and these are the reasons why, firstly the story is at its finest as well as the combat system which is really important for RPG lovers. The graphics looks really cleaned and polished and the enviroment is beautiful which can attract the players easily. The soundtracks are one of the best features in this game, it really makes you feel like playing…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I never wrote a proper review for this and I played it most of two years ago so it's not going to be a "real" review since my memories are very vague by this point, but somehow the half-a$$ game the author made while depressed was more fun for me than Sweet Lily Dreams, which surely wasn't half-a$$ed. My memories are that it's solid and fun both writing-wise and gameplay-wise if you can get past the default graphics, with well-designed boss fights, amusing characters with fun abilities, and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would not recommend this game if you like characters with "heart" unfortunately this one the main character especially doesn't have any. If you're expecting a goody two shoes, kind, loving, sings to animals type of Princess this is not the game for you! This is not your fairy tale Princess! The more I played this game the more I disliked the main character not only because she was rude, selfish, vain, arrogant, manipulative, murderous and an alcoholic but she lacked depth or any…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had a great experence with this game. It's fun and has an interesting storyline. Probably gonna replay just for kicks. 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is beautiful. i really love the mapping and the story. i like how we can change party member during the fight. the monsters are well balanced. Even the inn and the item cost higher each time you levelling up (i still dont understand this mechanism but the price of Inn and items keep increasing), you won't have a problem getting money. i had fun selling items from beating the monster. The only thing that a bit dissapointing for me is there's nothing to do with the stuff. like i hope…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wouldn't criticize this game if it was free - but I cannot recommend anyone pay for it. There are so many things I dislike about this game, but the biggest complaint is that it is unpolished - there's little if anything unique, interesting, or worthy in this game. It feels like the kind of projects I did on RPG Maker when I was a kid, except that I didn't charge for it. Story? Bland and uninvolving. Characters? Cookie cutter, unidimensional, and hard to care about. Graphics? Asset flip.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →(SPOILERS AHEAD) I haven't gotten very far - probably like half way into what COULD be considered a 'chapter one' setting. And I already see the stereotypical ditzy 'please let me punch her lights out' princess is in play. Honestly I was looking at this game for a while, now I see I need new glasses. Still, not very far and I got lost immediately, and there really should be a quick travel system. Going to see how it goes, but right now... not impressed. Will give them points, the girl is kinda…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another RPGMaker game from RosePortal, the masters of RPGMaker games. As you'd expect, this game has a great story and lots of well-balanced battles. The Princess' Heart is significantly above most of its competition in this genre.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Princess’ Heart, developed by RosePortal Games and published by KOMODO, is a story-driven role-playing game that combines traditional RPG mechanics with an emotionally charged narrative about love, loss, and redemption. The story centers on Princess Aerin Goldheart, whose idyllic life begins to unravel when she suspects that her beloved prince has been unfaithful. Desperate to mend what she believes is a broken bond, Aerin makes a fateful deal with the Demon of Desire, a choice that sets…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is more of a one thumb up review. Or a maybe yes. Grade: C- Super cool old school graphics. Unbelievable A+ imagination. Nice emotional and humorous dialogue and story line. Waiting for the pin to drop? Yeah the problem is the game play. At the start its a repetitive tedious grind. You got to buy the guide (and its ridiculously cheap when on sale) if you want to stand a chance. You are in an open world that has to played in a certain order that you can't guess on your own.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't play this game since Norton has block a trojan virus when I downloaded the game. It's not that I refuse to play, I just can't. I have tried downlooading it several times and Norton blocks more viruses and I am still unable to play. I recommend anybody that has played this game to get your computer checked.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Let me try to summarize this.... This game is not an rpg. It's more like the story of a selfish and self-centered princess who gives no ♥♥♥♥♥ about anyone else and just ♥♥♥♥♥ around with the prince of another country. The spells, though customizeable, literally require you to grind around 5+ levels to get the next one because you need points to learn them, points that you get at a rate of 1 per level. All the "playable characters" are just a hindrance because you can only have 4 at a time…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got this game while it was on a pretty good sale so I figured I'd give it a shot. I use RPG Maker myself so I did recognize quite a bit of the RTP art, however, it is used very well. The music in the game is also great. But I, like many other reviewers, immediately hated the princess character. I'm about an hour and a half in and I have yet to have a reason to care for this character. I am also taking a break tonight from it because I have been going back and forth throughout the same…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not what I though'd it be, guess I need to do some research before I buy games from now on :P
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At first glance, The Princess' Heart isn't your textbook RosePortal product. The pre-made Enterbrain RTP visuals and mapping seems lazy. But is it? Is the game just a quick cash grab or is there more to it than a simple premade asset layer? At first, when I saw the promotional screenshots for the game, I was appalled. Not only by what I saw as below average mapping (at least by RosePortal's usual high standards, compared to many other RPGs out there it doesn't stand out that much) but also…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is really awesome it has great story line and fantasy really enjoyed by myself and really recommend to others and my freinds 10 /10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I understand having puzzles to unlock parts of your dungeons but having convoluted ♥♥♥♥ with no explanation in game isn't right especially when you sell the guide as part of your luxury version of your game. I go around in a dungeon killing everything for a hour just because I didn't pay for your special package? Seriously ♥♥♥♥ you man this is some stupid ♥♥♥♥ that should not be happening at all idc the genre or the age of the game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Princess' Heart is a cute and funny role playing game with Aerin, a protagonist who goes through her own emotional journey and matures through learning not to be so dependent on her love interest's approval and validation. She learns to value herself more and becomes braver, more willing to sacrifice herself for others and own up to her flaws. I really liked it. Aerin's friendships were also really touching and her team is great. Gavin is hilarious and sympathetic. His comment 'I am not…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i wish the price of the mana dont keep going up each time you level is kind of spoil the game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game's plot is founded on a few interesting concepts that unfortunately go absolutely nowhere due to a distant, simplistic narrative style that just seems to assume you'll imagine all the character development and nuances of personal growth yourself. Most of the cast are 1-dimensional blocks of wood who will occasionally chime in with a line or two of reactionary dialogue, but not actually influence any part of the plot or each other through their words or actions. Every opportunity -…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tags: Topdown - RPGMaker & Party RPG Additional Tags: Delete Local Content & Remove from Library TLDR: Fairly demanding mazes and monsters and half decent world setting and writing. Plot comes slowly about entitled power fantasy of entitled princess gone wrong. The problem with this game is that the RPGMaker shell does not really allow for a detailed portrayal of the main protagonist, which would be necessary for us to get invested and relate with such an obviously flawed character. There is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Typical RPG game created with RPG Maker. The history presented in the game is interesting, though sometimes it seems trivial. The fight is based on a customed system which is used in RPG Maker. We will face oo Quite a large number of enemies, from ordinary people after all sorts of monsters. We own team, and each protagonist have own special skills. PS. I sorry for my bad english.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great game really funny
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a pretty decent RPG-maker game, with a decent story, combat and music. Will last around 10-15 hours, and the difficulty is evenly spread. It has 8 distinct classes, and the bosses require different strategies. It has the right price for what it is, but i still would recommend to get it on sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its an amazing game!!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really liked the plot of the game, although I think the ending could have been better. The battle system was interesting, but I didn't like how the price of everything went up as you got higher levels. Also the drop rate for the HQ items should have been higher. I would give this game a 6/10.
