unlabelledView post →Dreamed I was watching a movie modeled on The Magnificent Seven where a town enslaved by an evil gunfighter sends a telegram seeking hired guns to defend them, and when the heroes get there, they find out the gunfighter is sixty feet tall. It was weird. But also, kind of awesome.

The opening title music and the first scene (Brynner and McQueen driving the hearse) would be thrilling with a live orchestra. #filmsky #moviesky #musicsky

Verifiable numbers are hard to come by, which is a bit weird as that sort of trivia used to be foundational to online film discourse.

unlabelledView post →It’s essentially a remake of THE AFRICAN QUEEN, and I’m wondering if there’s another example of an actor starring in a pseudo-remake of their own movie. Like if Fosse had hired Mastroianni for ALL THAT JAZZ, or Sturges had put Mifune in THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN.
