neutral · AI labelView post →Yeah but what if the Melania movie was called Seven Samurai instead? And then when you went to see it they just showed you Akira Kurosawa’s 1954 masterpiece Seven Samurai? I bet you liberals would *love* it then. Typical.
neutral · AI labelView post →Someone said, "the good Star Wars movies reference Kurosawa, the bad Star Wars movie reference other Star Wars movies." That's why in my novel, the characters never mention Star Wars but can't shut up about Seven Samurai. That way, it will be good

neutral · AI labelView post →so cool that when Kurosawa made Seven Samurai, he was like, "What if a movie absolutely ripped for three-and-a-half hours straight?"
neutral · AI labelView post →idk if anyone's heard of this movie, it's called " Seven Samurai " but we watched it and it's pretty good. big things in the future for this Mifune guy i think
positive · AI labelView post →There's not a single film that wouldn't be better if the main character had a fat ass. Venom, Seven Samurai, Seven, The Magnificent Seven, and other movies. Seven fat juicy asses that's what the audience wants.
neutral · AI labelView post →Today in 1954, Akira Kurosawa released his epic samurai action flick Seven Samurai. Aside from being one of the most remade, reworked, and often referenced films in cinema, it's also thought of as the movie that started the "assembling the team" genre of films!

The wide, medium-long shot frames a poignant encounter between Katsushiro, the youngest and most idealistic of the samurai played by Isao Kimura, and Shino, a vulnerable village girl portrayed by Keiko Tsushima.
neutral · AI labelView post →I recently rewatched, Seven Samurai (1954). I can’t add anything new to what’s already been said about this landmark film, so I’ll just say that Toshiro Mifune and Akira Kurosawa belong on the Mount Rushmore of greatest actor/director combos ever.

neutral · AI labelView post →I finally saw Seven Samurai recently and I'm kind of obsessed with how Toshio Mifune carries himself in the film. He always has the perfect silhouette, no matter where the camera is.
positive · AI labelView post →Ocarina of Time is one of those handful of games I honestly don't think you can play the "it was never good" card about. It's like saying Seven Samurai was never a good movie. It's something no human being tethered to reality could say and mean even if they didn't personally like it. It's absurd.
neutral · AI labelView post →I am going to watch the movie "Seven Samurai" and you cannot stop me. It is too late for you to stop me.
neutral · AI labelView post →If I put on Seven Samurai because I want background noise for the next 3 1/2 hours, and fail to appreciate the movie as a result, that’s on me. The movie shouldn’t do a damn thing to placate someone who isn’t watching.
neutral · AI labelView post →the best part of the movie SEVEN SAMURAI is that it literally has a scene where the samurai go "we couldn't possibly pull this off with just FOUR of us, why, we'd need something like SEVEN SAMURAI to do this"
neutral · AI labelView post →Seven Samurai is a movie so good that not only has it become an archetypal plot that's been transplanted to different genres (Magnificent Seven being the most notable), but parody subversion of it have ALSO become a stock plotline.
neutral · AI labelView post →Ya know, I was always hard on "Magnificent Seven" because of my snobby attitude of "pfft, it's just a stupid cowboy copy of Seven Samurai." But having rewatched it yesterday, it's really a cool movie. Has its own identity and ideas. Still not as good as Seven Samurai but definitely worth a watch.

A recent watch that I quite enjoyed. - Virgin Spring. Hard to choose a Bergman. - Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. Silent film I've seen the most. - Tokyo drifter. Yeah!!
positive · AI labelView post →Really good movie, but why call it “Netflix’s”? That’s just the channel it’s playing on. They didn’t produce it, don’t give them credit. We don’t talk about “Criterion’s Seven Samurai” or “Turner Classic Movies’s Casablanca”.
neutral · AI labelView post →The Seven Samurai is a Masterclass in frame composition, camera movement, and blocking the actors to add depth to every shot. The themes in this film have inspired films from Westerns to Tarantino for decades.

neutral · AI labelView post →What is your favorite Akira Kurosawa movie?. I've been slowly working through Kurosawa's movies, and I thought this could be an interesting discussion since there are so many of them. I just finished *Yojimbo*, and it was fantastic. It pulls you into the story of a ronin who comes to town where two rival gangs are feuding, and he plays both sides off of each other. I really enjoyed how the relationship between the tavern owner and the ronin developed through the movie. I think my favorite…

neutral · AI labelView post →I just rewatched Kurosawa's 1954 film The Seven Samurai (for about the 17th time). Now that's an "action movie" with great writing that summarises grand themes into the simplest gestures, every single shot is a masterpiece in light, shade and depth, and it has epic characterisations.
positive · AI labelView post →You know who had good picks in Criterion Closet? Ryan Coogler. Who else gonna have Malcolm X and Seven Samurai on same list? In general, as soon as he talks about film I’m listening. Black Panther “Casino Brawl” scene breakdown. Sinners film formats & aspect ratios breakdown. He’s so nerdy & sweet.
