The Dead Zone
Johnny Smith is a schoolteacher with his whole life ahead of him but, after leaving his fiancee's home one night, is involved in a car crash which leaves him in a coma for 5 years. unlabelledView post →The Dead Zone is a great film but the most unrealistic thing in this story of a man who has a car crash and gets the power to see the future, which may or may not have been sent by God, is the idea that using a baby as a human shield would make an American politician unelectable.

unlabelledView post →Books to film 📚=🎞️ The Dead Zone (1979) by Stephen King was adapted (1983) by D. Cronenberg. The film takes an efficient approach, reducing subplots for optimal storytelling. There is less explanation as to why Johnny experiences visions, yet the film is regarded as faithful. ☣️💀🌎 #filmsky #booksky

unlabelledView post →Post a movie that starts with the word THE I'll start... The Dead Zone 🖤
unlabelledView post →I reread Stephen King’s The Dead Zone, our February selection for the Constant Reader book club. I’ve watched the original 1983 movie adaptation multiple times and first read the book in 2015. 🩸📚💙
unlabelledView post →For some reason, this image of Martin Sheen in the movie The Dead Zone as a psychopath Presidential candidate trying to shield himself from an assassin with a small child keeps coming to my mind.
unlabelledView post →Tonight’s film: The Dead Zone. Needed to see a politician get punished for doing something evil. To believe that’s still possible.

unlabelledView post →Cruelty is the point. He is literally and unironically living out the end of the Dead Zone movie. I swear to God. I'm not making a joke. He lives in memes and thinks it's incredibly funny and creative. He is literally using his child as a human shield, and he loves that you're horrified.
unlabelledView post →In the 1983 film THE DEAD ZONE, Martin Sheen conjured up a vision of the most horrifying president we ever could have imagined. ... at the time. #filmsky #movies #moviesky #potus

unlabelledView post →I love Catch Me If You Can, and I love him in it, but it’s hard to call that “a Christopher Walken film.” Probably gotta go with The Dead Zone.
unlabelledView post →Martin Sheen in the David Cronenberg film of Stephen King's "The Dead Zone"! Sheen plays a Trump-ish right-wing demagogue political candidate who is [SPOILERS] disgraced when he hides behind a baby to foil a would-be assassin lol. Point being a Republican could just DO this now.
unlabelledView post →What's the best Stephen King movie adaptation and why is The Dead Zone the only right answer?
unlabelledView post →Reminds me of the Dead Zone book .... and the movie... The character Gregg Stillson (played by Martin Sheen in the movie) is a carbon copy of Trump.
unlabelledView post →Please tell me a book that fucked your shit up when you were a kid As for me, it was The Dead Zone by Stephen King. I cried when I finished. It hit me with that much emotional force. And I love the movie, definitely my favorite King film adaptation
unlabelledView post →Currently watching The Dead Zone
unlabelledView post →The Dead Zone This movie also brings back memories. I saw it for the first time when I was a kid. I loved the movie. Later, during my first year of high school, we had to read the book for an English class. I loved the book as much as I did the movie.
unlabelledView post →Speaking of THE DEAD ZONE, the soundtrack is INCREDIBLE. Michael Kamen told a story once: he lived alone, creating the music for the film, playing it over and over again. One day the neighbour showed up. She said, "the music is very beautiful, but it gives my daughter nightmares." Nailed it.
unlabelledView post →See also: The Dead Zone, the book/film in which the far-right politician's career is instantly ended when he's caught on camera using a baby as a human shield from a shooter, rather than it sparking a flurry of "that baby was no angel" and "who among us wouldn't hide behind a baby?" hit-pieces.
unlabelledView post →Introducing MrsL and the boyo to ‘The Dead Zone’. A really underrated film and probably the best film adaptation of a Stephen King novel (I don’t count Kubrick’s ‘The Shining’, which I love, because it’s so different to the source).
unlabelledView post →The Dead Zone. 1983. Dir: David Cronenberg. In Stephen King’s novel, he kills himself by cutting his own throat. Not in the movie… #filmsky #horror

unlabelledView post →You know what movie doesn't get nearly the love it deserves? The 1983 thriller THE DEAD ZONE. Not a big-budget blockbuster, not Oscar bait, not an exploitation flick or a pot-boiler, just a relentlessly brilliant little gem of a film. If you haven't seen it, you should go watch THE DEAD ZONE.
unlabelledView post →#nowwatching The Dead Zone, wherein Christopher Walken has his hair improved by a five-year coma. Also Marting Sheen plays a politician, which he's clearly very good at because he's done it so many times. #filmsky #horrorsky

unlabelledView post →Of course, then he’s left with the problem of explaining how he knew something “would have” happened, to people who can clearly see that it did not. Instead of ignoring that problem as a lesser movie might have, The Dead Zone builds its whole premise on it.
unlabelledView post →I forgot The Dead Zone (film) would be a good watch for today!
unlabelledView post →Exactly. Remember in the film THE DEAD ZONE where Johnny Smith reads the mind of the mother of the serial killer and then tells her, "You knew!"? That's what this all is. They knew.
unlabelledView post →He's obviously not seen the movie The Dead Zone (1983). A presidential hopeful has his future changed when he grabs a child to use as a human shield.

unlabelledView post →Need another reason to see it? It's by far the best film adaptation of a Stephen King novel ever made. Another? It was directed by David Cronenberg. Another? The cast is phenomenal. In addition to Walken, it has Tom Skerritt, Colleen Dewhurst, and Martin Sheen. Go watch THE DEAD ZONE (1983).
